Rimbaud -- Moulin Rouge

why? -- the whole 'I love you. But I have a job to do.' that he's got going on with Verlaine.

Rimbaud 🤝 Satine: 'I love you, I would die for you, but you are actively doing something that will put us both in danger and you gotta stop this.'

Verlaine -- Epic

why? -- he really does live by the "ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves" mindset.

he's really out here killing everyone. just to be safe. just to make sure there's no one left alive who could mess up his epic plans of hanging out with his brother.

why? -- it's trains. it's about trains racing. and he's the fast transportation guy.

why? -- they.. they like to wear the same aesthetic.

why? -- well I'm not calling my guy Regina George but he sure does know how to play politics. Mr PR man. Beautiful. Can destroy your life if he so wished.

why? -- he's known to kill with whatever's on hand or available. Doesn't even bring his own weapons to a murder. Very Monty Navarro of him.

Murase -- Cabaret

why? -- similar to Clifford Bradshaw, when he was desperate for work, he took a job that ultimately lead to him doing something harmful (in his case, killing children)

and I'd like to think that similar to Clifford, if he had the chance to just. straight up beat up the government (or his brother) that had him doing this job, he would.

although he's still in contact with N, I'd like to think that if he were made aware of what was going on, he would choose violence.

[content warning before you go and listen to cabaret: if you're not familiar with Cabaret, this is fully about nazi germany. and although clifford (the male lead) does beat up a nazi, it ultimately doesn't end well for anyone. so. do with that what you will.]

N -- G*psy

why? -- it's the whole Making someone into something they're not. whether they like it or not. Molding someone into what you want them to be. Forcibly.

I was debating between N or Mori for this one, but Mori's more subtle than this.

The scene where Rose forces Louise to do the strip show really was just. blatant. The taking of someone's bodily autonomy through force for personal gain.

Both N and Rose use more manipulation tactics than physical force to strong-arm people. And both are convinced that they're not doing anything wrong. No matter how bad their actions are, they're convinced that they're working towards some greater goal.

and they both pretty much get away with it

(N dying doesn't count because from his pov he still succeeded in every way)

why? -- we're back to the silly goofy musicals!! yeah it's just for the whole appreciation of innovation. hot take, Mary and Zazzalil would get along. in fact Mary would respect her. The inventor of fire and the inventor of sentient androids. they'd love that.

Adam -- Maybe Happy Ending

why? -- androids going against their programming by falling in love with each other? This would be his new 'watch on repeat' show

which he could do literally. as an android. he could attend the show once and record it with his internal cameras, and then watch it whenever he wants.

I recognize that he's a law enforcement officer of some sort and it's probably not encouraged for him to take illegal recordings, however. he does have free will. so let him do with that what he will.

why? -- Thinks of himself as cool. Everyone around him finds him annoying.

I'm so sorry Shirase I love you but you're objectively an annoyance to everyone who puts up with you.

Skk's Partnership Development (from SB to DHC)

i was thinking the development of skk's partnership. In stormbringer before their partnership was formally established, dazai withheld information for his plan to work even knowing the risks of it, the withholding caused chuuya to be tortured and murase (someone close to chuuya) to be killed. chuuya punishes dazai as a result of the torture (dazai lets him) and murase dying, VIA spinning him onto a pole until he throws up.

In dragon head conflict, dazai provokes chuuya (as a leeway for a code in the future). yada yada, chuuya punches him and calls him out which motivates dazai to stop the conflict which is killing people. dazai disappears after that, the PM members tell chuuya abt a microscope in dazai's room which was used in their conversation earlier (when dazai provokes him by saying chuuya was a human as small as a microscope).

he destroys the microscope, finding out it was a communicator left by dazai and goes off to rescue him (he got captured), saying "what for me shitty dazai". the development of their partnership, they learned to communicate in their own way, instead of dazai withhelding information again.

sometimes I think about how Chuuya’s life would’ve been like if he went with Murase and was adopted by him. I definitely think he'd end up going to school and I’m just picturing his old enemies seeing him as a regular student and being like “is that gravity manipulator NAKAHARA CHUUYA?!”

Chuuya getting labelled as a delinquent partially bc he acts like one but mostly bc almost every day there’s strange ppl lurking outside the school gates scoping him out...but then quaking when Chuuya strolls out and hits them with the side eye (he’s still got it)

occasionally old bitter nemeses that Chuuya had previously defeated will come disturb his peace and try to pick a fight bc they think he’s gone soft from living a “normal” life but they find out very very quickly that’s not the case at all. Chuuya never slacks (he's an all-around student athlete now).

a group of enemies, ambushing Chuuya on his way home from practice: we finally got u Chuuya: Chuuya, smirking: enemies: …??? Chuuya, throwing his duffel bag down and cracking his neck: this is great I haven’t had a good warmup in ages enemies: enemies: oh…oh no…?? [afterwards] enemies, knocked out in a pile: Chuuya, dusting himself off: thanks guys I really needed that! been feeling a bit stiff recently but I feel much better now

Murase always gets worried whenever something like this happens even tho he knows Chuuya’s more than capable of handling himself...once Chuuya asked why Murase was making such a big deal over it and Murase was like “bc you're my son? ofc I’ll worry” and Chuuya shut up immediately

Went against the bosses orders to give chuuya a good gift (his past) and also risked their lives for chuuya.

2.Verlaine

“He would chose Rimbaud” bro literally shot this man just so chuuya would be safe.

3.Murase

Wanted to return chuuya to the world of light

4.Adam

Programmed himself to put chuuya before anything and risked his life for chuuya (he came back though, I’m happy)

5.Kouyou

I honestly hate when people say she would choose Kyouka as if she can’t love two people equally. Like are we reading the same thing? She cares about chuuya a lot.

6.Dazai

“But Oda....” no shut up

the relationship that dazai has with oda and chuuya are two completely different things. Dazai just fulfilled a promise from a dead friend. Dazai trust chuuya with his life.

Bsd AU where Rimbaud and Verlaine didn't get to the lab in time and N managed to make Chuuya a weapon

Bsd AU where "Arahabaki", an 10 y/o kid, is sent to eliminate Japan's enemies in the Great War.

Bsd AU where Rimbaud and Verlaine are sent on the front so they stop Arahabaki from killing everyone.

Bsd AU where Chuuya uses Corruption to eliminate his country's enemies until he can't take anymore and passes out.

Bsd AU where Verlaine and Rimbaud are searching all over the war camps to find a little kid that's seen as a weapon.

Bsd AU where an 11 y/o Yosano finda a little kid lost amongst soldiers. The kid is hurt so she heals him. He never leaves her side again, too scared of getting hurt, too scared to be taken back to the lab.

Bsd AU where the Great War ended and Japan was on the winning side and Mori figured out who or what Chuuya was and wanted to have him.

Bsd AU where Chuuya and Yosano are put in confinement for their crimes during the war even though they won the war for their country. And they even have to be separated.

Bsd AU where Chuuya lost everything, family, safety, trust, friends, and N finds him and takes him back, proud of his work.

Bsd AU where after Fukuzawa defeats Mori and saves Yosano, the little girl tells him someone else needs to be saved.

Bsd AU where Chuuya escapes by himself from the lab and finds the Sheep. He doesn't trust them, everything is temporary. But he can’t help it. He gets attached and joins them.

Bsd AU where Verlaine and Rimbaud return to France thinking Arahabaki must've died but Verlaine can't accept it.

Bsd AU where after the Sheep betrays Chuuya he doesn't join the Mafia for them. It's not worth it. But Dazai doesn't kill them. He's too shocked Chuuya didn't made the choice he expected.

Bsd AU where after Chuuya leaves the Sheep he's found by Fukuzawa and gets reunited with his friend.

Bsd AU where Chuuya becomes a member of the Agency when he was 15 and felt pretty much happy since then.

Bsd AU where Chuuya and Murase have a father-son relationship because this time they can.

Bsd AU where Chuuya has friends that don't use him and that won't leave him, here in the Agency.

Bsd AU where years later Dazai joins the Agency and he's faced with the boy he couldn't predict.

Bsd AU where Chuuya is happy and goes drinking with Yosano and they accidentally get to a Mafia's bar but the people there, some dudes calling themselves the Flags, are chill and they bond.

Bsd AU where The Assassin King randomly sees some news from Japan about a detective and he realizes that's Arahabaki, no. Chuuya. And he feels bad he couldn't help him but he's also happy that Chuuya's not in pain anymore.

Bsd AU where at the beginning Chuuya can't trust Dazai but they end up working too good together not to.

Bsd AU where Chuuya accidentally meets Shirase and he (Shirase) apologizes for what he did to Chuuya. It's hard, but Chuuya forgives him and the Sheep.

Bsd AU where Chuuya is working on a case with the Europole and he has to work with some AI detective, Adam. Turns out the robot is cool and they become friends.

Bsd AU where Chuuya doesn't question his humanity, where Chuuya's friends are alive and he can see them all.

(Does this make sense? Prolly not, partially because English isn't my first language. Does it have plot holes? Definitely. Did it feel angsty when I wrote it? Yep. Be honest, am I delulu?? )

I'm sorry that we didn't go to the premier of that movie you were in. I promise I really did want to go, but it's too hard to go right now. So I bought a copy of the CD and I'll keep it forever. Promise ya I'll watch it when I'm ready. I remember you were really really excited about this one. Wouldn't shut up about it, you jackass.. Lead actor again right? But that wasn't really ever new for you. Talented son of a bitch.. Anyways, just letting you know I'll have a nice drink for ya, keep my acting up, and watch that film for ya. Rest well for me, okay?

Dear Ice Man,

I'm sorry we didn't get to smoke more often. As much as it burned the shit out of my lungs I didn't mind doing it with you. Heh, I can imagine your expression if you could read this. I mean, you think I could've gotten a smile out of you? Eh, probably not. But I'll try anyways. Next time I get upset I'll go for a smoke where you can't, okay? I'll make sure I don't give too much of myself away though, isn't that what you taught me? Rest well for me, you've done enough work.

I'm sorry that you had to give me that motorcycle. Don't get me wrong, I love riding it, but you always rode it better. I'm sorry that I didn't get there in time. Seeing you torn in half was something I'll never get out of my brain. But, at the very least you taught me how to patch myself up.
