Yo Fanfic Readers!

I'm having a small dilemma as I move forward in my fanfiction. The Boatem Survivors Crew needs a base, and I have too many ideas running around in my skull!

(For context for those of you who are not fanfic readers, this is a Grian-centric, Mumscarian, Zombie Apocalypse AU, and this is the base for Impulse, Scar, Grian, Pearl, and Mumbo)

I swear I'm still working on the apocalypse au, but since it's taking such a long time I figured I'd post some notes, random thoughts, and plans. (all of these are still subject to change.)

Fic Title: Where I go, will you still follow?

Summary: There are no happy endings in the apocalypse, Mumbo learns this the hardest way possible.

The whole story is fully planned out, with as much angst as I can manage. It'll have an open ending, but definitely not a very happy one.

The fic will follow Grian, Scar, and Mumbo on their journey to find a rumored safe house hidden in the mountains during the apocalypse. Bad things are sure to happen!

Grian and Scar knew each other before they took in Mumbo, this causes Mumbo to have a lot of insecurity about his place with them.

I'm leaving interpretation about their relationship open as I personally can't decide if I want it to be Mumscarian or not, but the Scarian is definitely romantic. It won't be touched on too much in the fic but it'll be there.

There's plenty more I want to talk about but I do want to hold off on major spoilers until after I've released it, I've recently been pretty motivated so things are looking up for this fics completion at least!

He was rather far into the forest now, deep into the valley between sloping hills and sheer cliff faces either side of the non-existent path Mumbo was trekking. There were no infected here, only the quiet peace of nature as if the world had never ended, as if the destruction and devastation surrounding this forest on all sides was nothing but a distant nightmare. It made him so awfully angry, that all this had been just out of reach when they had needed it most.

Lastly, an actual snippet of what little is already written, had to go digging for something I could show without spoiling much.

working on a mumscarian au that takes place in a vaguely season 9 esq world because I want ancient cities mm mm mm

Scar is an Elf, of course; Mumbo is a Vampire, of course; Grian is an Avian, of course - Grian is also a watcher but I'm approaching it less from a 'Watchers are Gods/God-like dieties' and more from a 'Watchers have been given the curse/gift of visions' - And Grian came from the Rift, because that's where the watchers come from

And the Warden is something akin to a god - sort of. A harbinger of the apocalypse is more like it. And Grian, who comes from a different world, from a cult no less, recieving the visions of what could happen if the Warden were to have its way

But at the same time, Mumbo and Scar run an organized crime ring in Hermitia [as far as I know s9 hasnt gotten a good town name to use yet so] and they think they're dragging Grian into their world, when Grian is actually dragging them into his - and there's the juxtaposition between the dangerous life of crime [wherein I put guns in minecraft because guns are just better for this] versus the quiet danger of trying not only to find this thing in Grian's visions *if it even exists* but to stop it
