𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙤𝙣! 🏖

The kids and I plus people from my Voluntary work spent the day in Bridlington - organised by @lighthousecommunityhub 'Lighthouse Outreach Project.'

Each week it has great community activities on, they provide food parcels, a baby bank and offer cooked meals too. I took my youngest to toddler group there and when she started school I just wanted to pay it forward and offer any help I could.

Which brings me to what did we do at Bridlington?! Well, we spent the day in a lovely seaside town where my children frolicked on the beach (Winnie stripped off and was having a mermaid moment in the sea, but discovered after that bathing in that particular part of the sea isn't advised but hey, building immunity) we have fish and chips and of course checked out the arcades.

Bridlington, on the Yorkshire coast, is a tradition seaside resort with golden sands, a promenade and attractive gardens. There is a working harbour located between the two main beaches to the north and south of the town - a dynamic business hub, crucial to the town and its residents. At the helm are the Bridlington Harbour Commissioners, a group of individuals, supported by an administrative team, who manage, protect and develop all aspects of the harbour and its activities.

It's a place with a rich history, stunning scenery, and a range of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests - plus a popular destination for birdwatchers, with the nearby Bempton Cliffs nature reserve being home to thousands of seabirds. The town has a range of accommodation options, including hotels, guest houses, and self-catering cottages too!

Situated in the region East Riding of Yorkshire in England! It is on the Holderness part (Flamborough Head to the Humber estuary) of the Yorkshire Coast by the North Sea. The town is about 28 miles (45 km) north of Hull and 34 miles (55 km) east of York. The stream called Gypsey Race flows through the town and enters the North Sea at the harbour.

thinking about that one paragraph in cleo's diary which makes me feral every time i read it and i wanted to try making a comic of it but best i could do is make an amateur edit on canvas. bon appetit.

Best way I can describe my current home life is a glass-thin facade that sort of works if carefully maintained but could crack at any moment.

My mom is depressed, but also an extremely emotionally immature bitch. Best way I can describe her is that talking to her is impossible, you just can’t reach her in any meaningful way. She will act shittily, usually pushing people’s boundaries or being purposefully annoying and then act all high and mighty and above everyone when they snap at her, usually either gaslighting(straight up saying she didn’t do something she just did, or calling them “crazy” for acting that way when she just provoked them), being generally condescending+downplaying others emotions, or just straight up shutting down and refusing to listen.

Then, my dad. Not perfect either, far from it. I constantly feel like I walk on eggshells around him, as sometimes the slightest little thing can set him off. Not in the angry way, though. He just gets very stressed and self-victimising+guilt-trippy. He also completely refuses to acknowledge how shitty mom is sometimes and instead gets frustrated with me whenever I try to communicate to my mom what she’s doing wrong, probably the keep the peace, keep the facade. Pretend everything is okay. I do get the feeling that he’s just. Given up trying to argue with her; as I mentioned, she’s unreachable. It’s just sad and frustrating to watch him just take her emotional abuse.

And then there’s me. Still trying to figure out how to cope with my emotions about it all. Started out being completely worn out and upset with every argument between me and my mom, until I just broke and decided that I would distance myself from my emotions completely, which eventually pushed me into delusions and a subsequent manic episode that allowed me to “function” for about a year or so.

But as the manic episode waned, and I started to burn out+fall into depression myself, the constant arguments drained me of all motivation to really do anything, culminating in me deciding there was no point to anything anymore. My empathy also gradually came back, then, and the guilt of how much our arguments were draining dad caved in on me.

And now we’re where we are, me just, trying to distract myself day to day, trying to maintain the glass-thin facade.

I dreamt I was watching divorce show and also I think I was half awake and thinking intensely about… it was similar to that webnovel, someone sacrificed herself in order to feed her consciousness/memories to this immortal mummy-type creature but even though it knew how to speak it was too shy too because of how her (dead mad scientist’s?) words would sound in its… accent… voicebox…
