Talking to my friend and she said what's the most annoying thing about liking so many different characters and ships that are quite similar

And it took a moment but it's so annoying when you mix names up!

Like I like Sherlock Holmes and House. The amount of times I have gone (in my head and in writing fics) James Watson is dangerous. Like at this point I should j change both John and Wilson (that's the only way I can remember them bc of the James Watson thing) to James Watson and call it a deal bc I will post a fic in which I will go James Watson and some one is going to get confused to say the least.

And oh JW JW right (John Watson James Wilson). I also love James Potter. So I can't even go James without accidently falling down the wrong hole at times. So I've gotta go John Watson and Prongs which truly sucks bc James is one of my fav names of legit all times and slowly I am not thinking bc that's to deep in too many diff directions

And let's not forget Sherlock House. Not as commonly but I've thought it to many times. Or Greg Holmes. But most I've said Doctor Sherlock and Detective House too many times now it'll cause problems for me EVENTUALLY

But what's worse is when I mix James pOtter and Peter Pettigrew up. Or either of them with Barry Allen.

Oh and Peter Pettigrew and Peter Parker gets mixed up far too much!!

And it truly sucks bc I put characters in all sorts of similar-ish au from time to time so it's not like I can remember with the kind of fics I read OR write.

But really these F.names and L.names should NOT go so well together my sanity is at risk!!

James goes to well with anything and it's ruined me. I've gone James Holmes James House James Black James Allen James Parker and much more. Just. If anyone ever says James to me, j knows I officially have no knowledge of who you're mentioning. It's all James. Everyone's James.

Even James Umbridge sounds good. James is too good. James is a universal attacher-name. It's toxic and worrying and James should be stopped.

And with James any name sounds like a surname. Or first name. James Sherlock James Mycroft Watson James

Bleach James sounds like a good-ish name, j like off the tip of the tongue not by the meaning of bleach

Sea James. Sand James. James Murder sounds like a good name.

James Cry sounds like a name. James Die even sounds like a name (I go James Die too many times per day I'm sure)

At this point you could go James Please and I'd think it's a name as long as the P was capital. Make Anything James Capital or James Anything Capital and it works.

James Capital works uhh

And IVE REALISED HOW GOOD A NAME SHERLOCK IS!! More so as a middle name with anything. Imogen Sherlock. Rock Sherlock. It works.

Bar Sherlock Smith.

Deara Sherlock Johnson.

Ant Sherlock McClodue (really not thinking of a proper name alr)

It works for girls and boys.

So yeah. Hate this thing about names.

Ships tho how do I do. Other than half the time I lose track of whether I was writing Sherlock and John or House and Wilson, and the like it's that it can be difficult to not put James and Sirius on and Johnlock fic (same people ik but still)

okay.... so obvi i am a multi fandom writer, and there are other fandoms i feel like i'd like to write for, ones that have been asked if i would before

and i've been thinking about why i struggle with some shows, why for example: i absolutely adore Charlotte King (private practice) and would also like her to rail me into next month. However i just struggle coming up with ideas. Sure, if i get req's for prompts that can work, but i still struggle.

and i think i'm realizing now that shows like Greys, PP, they show us so much of the characters personal lives, their partners, kids, families, etc. And while that can be so much fun to work with, and SOMETIMES can spark thoughts and fic ideas, its more rare.

whereas shows like SVU, Criminal Minds, we don't get as much into their backstories, their home lives, most of them aren't in long term relationships. They leave all these gaps in canon that let us fill everything up with our head canons and thoughts and ideas. I think it's also why I love writing for characters like Rita, who we know basically nothing about, we have to pull from simply the vibes, chemistry with other characters, how they present themselves. or Abi Borin being the only NCIS i write for (lbh, it was cause of diane) but also i get more leeway to work with her because we know a little less about her. And that's not because I want the freedom to think/say whatever i want about a character, most of the hc's i have are ones that we all agree on kinda thing.

anyways i dunno what the point of this was, but this may be one of the reasons you're not seeing as much of specific requests getting accepted or written or whatever. I absolutely adore PP and Greys but just.... need to separate canon for a bit? i dunno. Or thoughts on longer fics? i do have an amelia series idea though... so... we're gettin' there! LOL
