And then it was the last day in the remote mountains! A last lunch with 2 cans of beans, onions and cookies. A last small river crossing with a following steep climb. A last view on the green jungle. And finally a last pedal stroke on the dirtroad for now! In the next village we then met two other cyclists: @cyclingabout and @eesh____ !!! We were in contact for quite some time to arrange this meeting and we are so happy that it finally worked out! We had some good food + beers together and shared our stories. You know what years of harmful and straight-up shitty media representation of a country does to a young person who's setting out to study in foreign lands? They realize that they try to avoid mentioning anything about their ethnicity because growing up, it was seen as a land of uneducated, dirty people.

And while I know that's not the truth at all because I GREW UP THERE, in this country that they seem to make out as one fucking mudroad with half-apes. But still I'm scared that they will think of me as less, uncultured, unworthy. And I hate that feeling but also cannot get rid of it just yet.
