Since they're easily the most common species I catch at work, can I request a fish fact on the gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum)?
Sure thing!
Daily fish fact #844
American gizzard shad!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/de0d7bc2b1cd600c7a76b7d25abcf1eb/a08373b950891a07-38/s540x810/0b04b5011d15f20c3e95d7a3ca63eff3316c68c9.jpg)
Like other fish in their family, their lateral line is very short and poorly developed. They can appear to have eyelids, which are really fat storages near the eyes!

i need matilda lore NOW 👁️❗☔
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!!!
👁️: How do other people perceive this oc? How close do their first assumptions come to the truth?
I feel like people first perceive her as like. Shadow's daughter. Or those unfortunate times where people assume shes a shad//ouge fankid (screams and wails). I've definitely made those "daughter" jokes before when she was first made but she is absolutely in the category of younger sister if you had to assign a familial label to her! Not crazy off the mark but that hedgehog will not be a father sorry. Also he is 15 (17 when matilda shows up)
❗: What are the highest priorities to this oc (at a point in their life of your choosing)?
TO BEAT KNUCKLES IN A FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This goal overpowers a lot of her other thoughts in the beginning, so a lot of what she does is "training" to get ready to take on Knuckles. And she goes to a lot of different people to get training for it (most notably Rouge, Omega, Amy, and Silver). Training could consist of adapting to everyone's different fighting styles to finding out more about Knuckles from his friends to search for weaknesses. She's wild.
Later in life, most notably in her Team Scion era, her main priority is caring for her friends in her own Matilda way. Lots of brute force and blunt honesty. The other teens around her are Very Much Teens and going through it, so she's a glue that holds them together!
☔: How does this oc feel about rain?
I think after she mutates she'd be scared of her first rain shower cause oh god it's the falling water that drowns people. But she tries not to show it and when someone like Rouge teases her about being afraid she's like "IM NOT!!!" And then is running out into the rain, quickly realizing that it's actually fine and awesome. Then she jumps head first into a mud puddle

On a wet pavement the white sky recedes mottled black by the inverted pillars of the red elms, in perspective, that lift the tangled net of their desires hard into the falling rain. And brown smoke is driven down, running like water over the roof of the bridge- keeper's cubicle. And, as usual, the fight as to the nature of poetry —Shall the philosophers capture it?— is on. And, casting an eye down into the water, there, announced by the silence of a white bush in flower, close under the bridge, the shad ascend, midway between the surface and the mud, and you can see their bodies red-finned in the dark water headed, unrelenting, upstream.
William Carlos Williams, "The Bitter World of Spring," from Selected Poems

NaNoWriMo Day 5
It had been a long time since Shadriel had communed with the anima collective. He couldn’t do it directly – his demon essence kept the plane from him as surely as the anima collective’s combined energies kept their plane closed unto itself-- but through the spirits of intellect he’d managed to lure and collect to his cause, information could flow. And anima always followed thought wherever there was an opening, as surely as water flowed downhill through any cracks.
So Shadriel sat, tucked safely behind several circles of warding, a bevy of guards at the doors, and simply thought, letting the pieces of his conundrum flow out into the web of intellect spirits he’d cast into the wide world.
I have a seer, but no path to the Oracles. She has a guardian, strong and dedicated, but no real power to Defend her. I have a man who seeks Death, but leaves only dead bodies in his wake. He had a body that cannot die, at least not by any weakness he’s been able to discover.
Bit by bit, he began to feel eyes upon him. They weren’t proper eyes, of course; one would have to have to have a physical form to have eyes. But the anima collective was all made up of being who had once had eyes, and they remembered their former forms, though they disdained the limitations of flesh. As a being of pure flesh and physicality, Shadriel was surprised he’d been able to get their attention at all. Anima and Demons were diametrically opposed, just as Benevolents and Destinies were. It was only the planar paring of Oracles and Enforcers that worked in tandem rather than at odds. But the two sects of Destinies argued enough amongst themselves to make up for the harmony between the Oracles and Enforcers.
The eyes began to drift, annoyed that Shadriel’s thoughts were full of things well and commonly known. He shifted his focus back to the problem at hand.
The man who seeks Death but cannot die was made that way by the Shining ones. A shiver of outrage went through the collective at the thought of the kin that had cast them out, had bound them to a world of sticks and mud and so changed them. Or rather, inspired them to change themselves to escape it. There was a glimmer of possibility there, in the anima’s attempt to escape the binding curse by escaping physicality all together. It hadn’t worked, but the idea was worth turning over, even though it wasn’t quite fully formed.
Several anima scurried away with it, pleased with this offering and eager to ponder the burgeoning idea from every angle. Shad let it go, attaching an intellect spirit to each one, to be sure the information flowed back to him as they made their discoveries. He pressed on.
A body is an easy thing to change. Agreement, an echo of the opinion that bodies should be cast off all together, but consensus that their nature was highly malleable. Gods, it was dizzying thinking like this. Smugness that his singular mind could not keep up. Shad dismissed it. He liked being his own individual. He continued in his own singular train of thought.
Fate is not an easy thing to change. Annoyance at the interference of the other planars; Destinies and Oracles and Enforcers alike both worked to shape the world to suit their purposes, though with very different methods. Destinies read the threads of Fate woven by Ksm, a cosmic force personified as a weaving woman. One sect worked to support individuals with notable threads, the other worked to ensure the threads of the overall patterns stayed strong and true. They often butted heads with one another, as no one Destiny had all the pieces. Oracles had all the pieces, and set in stone certain immutable facts about the universe. Enforcers went out and made sure those facts remained so. Again, bored anima drifted away from the demon’s stating of the obvious.
But it can be shifted.
All in all, fate magic was a wretched stalemate. The best one could hope for was to hand a fate off to a different individual, dodging the worst for yourself by passing the buck. Such was the nature of luck magic. But if such workings were not done carefully, if balance was not maintained--
Threads snapped, balances shifted, accounts settled, Shining Ones come and must be answered to.
The collective was impatient enough with him to shout in a nearly unified voice. The last time the Shining Ones had had to intervene, the chimera and faeries had been born. Of those faeries, the Mente Court was starting to encroach on Anima territory. They could weave and bend the mind, manipulating thoughts and experiences like light through a prism, paint on a canvas, waves on the shore. The anima did not like these new faeries. They wished them gone.
What has been set by the Shining Ones must be, Shad thought carefully. But what they cannot see they cannot demand an accounting of. With an Oracle of our own, we could learn to work in the dark places of their sight.
A resounding cry of agreement and exultation went up, and several anima flooded along his intellect spirits to ride with them out into the world. He had found a seer with only those weak spirits. With anima bent to the cause, they would find an Oracle. One who wished to see what was not meant to be seen. One who could be tempted by their offer.
Shadriel opened his eyes and took a moment to ground himself in the physical world. He dropped his circles, opened the door to his chambers, and pulled one of the guards off the door and into his bed, where he put every inch of his wonderful body to use, and gloried in the pleasure of having it.

I came across a post from a while ago talking about amaranth's dragons and/or wyverna and I would like to know more if you feel comfortable enough to share.
I had a whole ass post for this a while ago but it deleted itself so like I never… answered.
Anyways.
Dragons and wyverns aren’t the same thing. Similar. Not the same.
So I’ll use this to talk about dragons and I’ll talk about wyverns if you want me to in another post :)
Some lore to start:
All dragons are descendant of one mother dragon that was created by the gods, as wyverns are all descendant of one mother wyvern (who still exists, she’s the elder wyvern and also the mother dragon’s sister, hence why dragons and wyverns are so alike), however the mother dragon was slain by an over confident demigod who got lonely and thought that with the magic inside of the dragon mother’s heart that they could create themselves a friend. Shit went wrong with that, that’s just… a whole wow thing.
But basically, because the elder wyvern never did anything to prevent the slaughter of her sister, dragons and wyverns hate eachother and most will attempt to kill eachother if they ever meet.
Dragons can come in a variety of shapes and forms, but many appear to match the surroundings they live in (the dragon of the cursed forest looks like a bunch of rock and mud, and even has plants growing on her back, and most fire-breathing dragons look like stone, rock and magma/snow because they keep themselves by mountains/volcanoes where they can easily access the internal heat). There are a few exceptions of those that were formerly bred by royalty and nobles to be pets, who ended up being very brightly coloured for the sake of being showy. Since dragons most dragons were slaughtered in the Great War between Shad and the Divine (humans found themselves unable to discern the difference between dragons and wyverns so they were all killed in the same), those that could not find themselves areas that were safe to reside in ended up fleeing to the islands outside of Ru’Aun that were uninhabited, or some even went further.
They all also come with a variety of vocal noises. Domesticated dragons typically make chattering noises as they were deemed the most desirable, meanwhilst wild dragons make noises that range from banshee screaming to roars.
Three noteable dragons and how they differ:
Bugs, The adopted dragon of Eilene, who was domesticated. Bugs was very small due to the pet-like nature of domesticated dragons, and was black with red markings and eyes. He made chattering noises and would have grown to only be about twice the height of an average sized human. He was very slim and lithe, and only had two small, slim horns that had curve to them. He was also dressed up a lot because he was the pet dragon to a very wealthy child. His favourite accessory seemed to be the little golden caps Chad would put on his horns. He was small enough for Chad to be able to hold up until both of their untimely deaths.
The lady, as Hyria calls her, is a dragon that resides in the cursed forest and does little but lay there and just… sleep. She’s ancient, and was a gift from Shad to Menphia before that friendship went to shit. Because of how long she’s lived in the forest, she’s kind of just covered in forest stuff. She’s really large, and bulky, and fat, due to her laziness and her constant supply of deer and other animals (she is a very well camouflaged dragon in the forest), but in her prime she was extremely muscular and was known for barrelling straight into castles and demolishing them. She is a little roaring lady. She’s also very friendly. She has butterflies living ontop of her snout and she’s made very good friends with them. She has no horns left due to age but had about 6 by the time they began falling off.
The cannibal, as humans dubbed it, was the largest recorded dragon. It was all black, with pink eyes, and it screamed. It would eat wyverns and dragons alike if they got in it’s way. It was a screecher and due to its sheer size, it would fly over valleys and plunge them entirely into darkness. It was a big mfer. But it completely disappeared after the Great War. Due to it being completely black, no one really knew about it’s specific details, but it’s rumoured that it had a mane of horns due to its age (many dragons continue growing horns throughout their lives and lose them when they start to become unhealthy, so the more horns a dragon has, the better shape it is in. Horns can regrow if it’s health is restored but they very rarely recover from illness)

TP: Let Us Be Here
a/n: twilight princess link and iris finally say the words
“I promise it didn’t go to the bone,” Iris held her arm while Link gripped her wrist.
He didn’t respond, instead his jaw tightening in an attempt to force out his anxiety. The bandage roll he tightly wound around the gash in her palm and up her arm took all his focus. Their breaths were visible in this temperature but his seemed more labored- wet cliffsides along Lake Hylia grew surprisingly cold in this night air. The fire in their cave hideout providing moderate light, but mild warmth.
Shad had combined the information the Owls had about the Sky people, leading them to the lake for takeoff. A thunderstorm combined with delayed repairs had unfortunately postponed the heroes’ launch. The stone beneath them gathered water and mud from their soaked supplies and bodies; drenched and torn armor was shed for the night.
Which leads to the current predicament… Prior to finding shelter from the storm, bulblins had surrounded them. Iris hadn’t realized one of the downed bulblins wasn’t dead, which led to a lucky strike. After fixing her wounds, Link promised to mend the tears her armor had gathered.
“Your turn,” Iris flexed her bandage, a smile on her face, “I know the arrow that grazed your shoulder couldn’t have been pleasant.”
He smiled, peeling off his shirt and offering her the bandage roll. She never realized just how many marks, cuts, scars dotted his body like constellations in the night sky. He didn’t have this many when they ventured into Death Mountain. Had the journey been that cruel?
“Not all of them are from battle,” Link began pointing to different scars as if her thoughts were loud enough to hear, “This one’s from the ranch. One of the goats got tangled in a briar bush and thrashed about when I helped it.”
“This one?” Iris tapped his left arm.
“Ah, that’s from one of those plants in Faron. Coro fixed it up when I bought lantern oil.”
“Here?”
“Probably when the Elder grabbed me in the sumo match. There’s a couple more of those on my back.” He shifted for her to see better, “They’re truly tough as stone. Hylian skin’s no match, haha.”
Iris chuckled, removing her shirt to point at a similar set of scarring, “When we got to that room, I remember how tight their grip felt around my arm.”
“You didn’t tell me it made a mark!” He turned, instinctively grabbing her arm.
“I didn’t know about all these scars on you, Mr. Hero.” A playful laugh, “I’m still here, nothing to worry about.”
“I’ll bear any scar if it means you’re safe.” His voice a wavering whisper. Iris noticed that his gaze was no longer on her arm, but on her abdomen. The scar from that attack in the Water Temple still prominently displayed like a badge of honor.
She placed her hand in her lap, an attempt to block it from him, “You shouldn’t have to.”
“It’s so dangerous out there… anything could happen and I… I get thrown back to that day…” His shirt in one hand, the other guiding her touch to his heart, “Feel my scars and callouses. All these remnants of terror and survival still carried on my body, my soul.”
Her breath hitched as her cold hand felt his warmth. His fingers tightened around her hand, as if she’d disappear if he let go. She knew he could take it: the fighting, the adventuring, the survival by grit alone. Didn’t he know she could stand with him in it? What else did she have left to prove after all the battles they’d fought? Didn’t he-
“Feel how my heart beats for you.”
Everything in Iris’ head stopped. He’s scared because he loves you.
“I have loved you since we fought by Kakariko.” Both hands held hers in place, “I know you are so strong, so capable, so kind... I genuinely think I would lose my mind if you died. If you hadn’t turned around right then, I-” He choked, eyes forced shut with tears escaping. “And then back in the temple…”
Both of you should’ve died. “It was scary thinking I’d never see you again.” Iris shifted her hand to interlock their fingers. “I can’t imagine how you felt seeing me there. This journey has been long and difficult. Hopefully it’s over soon.”
A small glimmer of hope for the end. Goddess, how much longer was their sanity required? How much longer could their mental fortitude stand against these repeated assaults? How much longer before their bodies gave out under the swords and attacks of monsters no one should see?
“It’s rough and harsh out there. Tomorrow we need to be heroes again, steeling ourselves for death and blood.” Link kissed Iris’ newly bandaged palm. “I want to be selfish for only one night. I want to forget how to be a survivor and only be warm.”
Iris had a somber sort of love behind her eyes. She moved her hand to his cheek, letting her thumb wipe away the tears. Link let out a breath, melting into her touch, leaning in until their foreheads pressed together.
“In here, for a few hours until daylight, let us be gentle,” His voice was barely a whisper, only for them to hear. He kissed her forehead, “…Kind,” a kiss on her cheek, “…loving.”
Link’s lips hovered over hers for a second before Iris pulled him close. Arms wrapped around her waist, softly pulling her forward until she lay on top of him. Her lips trailed kisses, roaming his face. The noise that escaped his throat when she kissed his neck was heavenly. Another day she would sink her teeth in, leave marks on what was hers. Another day she’d ask him to do the same.
Link held Iris tightly against him, wishing this moment to last. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Her voice like music in his ears.
The dying fire gave just enough light for her to see his bright blue eyes contrasting his flushed face. His chest rose and fell with each attempt to slow his breath. His hand came up, cradling her head against him while he rolled them over.
Please, goddess, delay the sun. Let us be here longer.
No temples. No monsters. No destiny.
Let us be human. Let us be in love.
#iris#TP Link#twilight princess#legend of zelda oc#they're both so stupid#of course you love each other ya idiots#be gentle for one night and remember what its like to love and be loved#put away your swords for one night#they've had many encounters where they shouldve died like that trauma and fear catches up to you

Fuckin Gross Constantly lmao all covered n sticks n mud and DEF hasn't had a bath in,,, many years
Not actually a descendant of Shad, but still inherits part of shads relic through other means (I can explain in a separate post if yall want 👀)
His relationship w aph is more like that of mentor/mentee, he's afraid to watch her get hurt the way he did
Has many tattoos on his arms, falcon claw tradition/right of passage
Often leaves mementos of his wife and kid wherever he goes, including but not limited to tree carvings, dirt drawings, and snowmen
MYST:
Wants hella tattoos and piercings but is terrified of needles actually
Aphmau painted his nails once and he liked it so much that he kept up the practice despite not being very good at it
A similar thing happened with dresses, but he was a little too uncomfortable to wear them in public. Also he struggles finding any that fit him, women's clothing isn't usually made to fit big buff guys :(
Has a surprisingly low tolerance for spice
He and Zane are actually pretty good friends, having bonded over being uncomfortable in group settings and being close with Aph
GEN:
Absolute radiator, excellent for winter snuggling
On a similar note would give killer hugs if he weren't so awkward w affection, esp physical affection
Would never admit it but he loves snow, watching it come down, looking out over fresh unmarred powder, etc. Winter is his favorite season for this reason
Refuses to wear tight or form fitting clothing, sensory issues n whatnot
Extremely curly hair, if he cared for it better it'd be super soft and fluffy
Really wishes he could wear gold jewelry and accessories, likes the aesthetic

WARNINGS: BLOOD, BEATING, COLLARS
_____________
To Alder and Hawthorn, it felt like hours being in this carriage. The small space was so cramped, both Alder and Hawthorn felt like they were being squeezed. The fact that there were three people here didn't help ease the feeling.
Throughout the ride, Alder kept his foot on Hawthorn's, his only way of comfort to his beloved. Ever since being comforted, Hawthorn had stopped crying, and had kept his cool the remainder of the ride. However, one thing bothered him:
What was the king planning on doing to them? He knew that he and Alder were on the wanted list, so he was sure that the king would kill them once they arrived. But knowing him, Hawthorn realized, he would have some "fun" with them before he executed them.
As he continued to ponder, the carriage suddenly halted. The guardsman that was with them held tight, but Hawthorn and Alder fell on their sides. Well, they would have, if it weren't for the collars chained around their necks.
The guardsman chuckled. "Seems like we've arrived." He said before standing up. He pulled out a key before approaching Alder first. Hawthorn only watched as the guardsman unlocked the collar around Alder's neck, before the guardsman turned to him.
"Now, don't struggle," he sneered. "Or you'll end up getting hurt."
"Fuck you."
The guardsman ignored his venomous growl, before he unlocked his collar as well. Without warning, the man grabbed him by his hair, before pulling him to his feet. Hawthorn grunted, gritting his teeth in pain as he was lifted up.
"Don't fucking touch him," Alder growled.
"Shut up," the guardsman warned, before he dragged Hawthorn up to the door of the carriage. Using another key in his pocket, he unlocked the door, and darkness entered the carriage.
It's nighttime, Hawthorn noticed. How long--
Before Hawthorn could ponder on how long he and Alder were captured, he was suddenly thrown out of the carriage. His face met mud, and it splattered around him. He removed his face from the mud, spitting out the disgusting material that ended up in his mouth. He gasped, trying to get in as much breath as possible from the muddy ground.
He overheard shouting, before another body fell beside him. Unlike Hawthorn, Alder only met ground instead of mud, and he groaned in pain.
Hawthorn heard the sound of a knife being unsheathed--oh Goddess Above, not here--before he felt his feet and legs being freed from the ropes. He heard shuffling and more rope being cut; he presumed that Alder's feet and legs were also freed.
Another guardsman--the rider, Hawthorn assumed--grabbed him by the collar of his tunic, before he was forced on his feet. He glanced up at the guardsman holding him, his scowl hard to miss.
However, that was short lived when he heard shouting and grunts from behind him, and he turned his head. His heart dropped when another guardsman punched Alder on the cheek, and Alder fell from the blow. This time, he fell right into the mud. He coughed, spitting out another tooth, mud, and more blood in the process.
"Aldy!" Hawthorn cried in desperation.
"Motherfucker just kicked me!" The guardsman who hovered above Alder yelled.
"Now now," the other guardsman reminded his ally, "Don't rough them up too much. Our Highness ordered us to keep them in good condition."
The other guardsman groaned in annoyance, before he picked up Alder by the tunic. Alder was still trying to recover from the hit the guardsman had given him, as he spat out more blood. He glared up at his captor, but didn't say anything.
Hawthorn watched his boyfriend, tears forming in his eyes. However, he held them back. This was no time to cry. He had to stay strong and focus.
Because in front of them was a castle, so large that it towered over all the towns and cities in the kingdom. Its shadow hovered over everything and everyone, blanketing them with its darkness. Despite the night sky, the golden walls shone, so bright that one would think it was daytime if they ventured closer.
It was the place Hawthorn didn't want to see ever again in his life. Same with Alder.
King Brennus' castle.
____________
Both of the guardsmen had their swords pointing at Alder and Hawthorn's backs as they walked inside the castle, ordering them to move in the direction they wanted. Both of them knew that one wrong move equalled death, so they did as they said.
They knew where they were taking them. To King Brennus' throne room. Where he would decide on their fate.
They walked up to the huge double doors, both of them made of steel, where two soldiers awaited on each side. Upon seeing the four approaching, the two soldiers moved to open both doors. While Hawthorn didn't see it, Alder had noticed a hint of grins on both of those soldiers' faces. Grins of victory.
Golden floors and walls met their gazes as they entered the throne room. Pillars stood on each side of the red carpet that was rolled up to the throne at the end of the room. Sitting on that throne was King Brennus, watching the four enter the room. His eyebrows furrowed at first, but upon seeing who they were, his eyes lit up, a sinister grin forming on his face.
"Your Highness," one guardsman announced, bowing before the king. "We have successfully captured two of the criminals you were looking for."
Before Alder and Hawthorn knew it, the other guardsman behind them pushed them to their knees. The two grunted, with Alder glancing up at the guardsman with a glare. Meanwhile, Hawthorn stared up at King Brennus, fighting the urge to bite his lip in worry. He was back here. After a few years away from this damned place, he was brought back here.
"Excellent," King Brennus chuckled lowly. "I shall pay you all your reward later. For now... leave me to these two."
"As you wish, Your Highness."
The two guardsmen left then, as the two soldiers closed the steel doors, locking Hawthorn and Alder in. Even with their legs and feet free, they wouldn't be able to run.
The king smirked at his two captives, before standing up. His long, crimson cape trailed behind him as he walked down the steps to Hawthorn and Alder.
"Welcome back, Xylon and Maverick."
Both of them flinched at their old names--the names they had discarded in order to hide themselves. Hawthorn, formerly Xylon, gritted his teeth in order to stay defiant, while Alder, formerly Maverick, glared.
"I have never thought I would be back here like this, Brennus," Alder growled. "I am not sure what you plan on doing to us, but know that I will not back down."
"Oh, don't worry, my old friend," King Brennus said, kneeling down to him in order to get a closer look at Alder. "I plan on making sure that you tell us everything--and I mean everything--about your little group." He took Alder by the chin, his smirk turning into a grin. "I have reports of what had happened. Who knew that you have a soft spot for someone as pathetic as my old slave?"
Hawthorn looked away at the scene, shutting his eyes. Fuck.
"Do NOT call him that," Alder spat. "Hawy is and never will be yours."
"Hawy," King Brennus couldn't help but laugh out loud, as if Alder had told him the funniest joke in all of the land. "You even have a nickname for him. That's adorable."
"Fuck you."
King Brennus stopped laughing. He breathed in, and without warning, he kicked Alder in the gut. Thanks to his pointed boots, the hit caused sharp pain to go through Alder's body. He cried out, toppling over like building blocks knocked over by a child.
"Alder!" Hawthorn gasped.
"Didn't your mother taught you to respect the king?" King Brennus growled, picking Alder up by the collar of his tunic. Before Alder could say anything, maybe even another curse, King Brennus threw him to the ground. Alder slammed the ground, and pain flared up everywhere.
"Stop!" Hawthorn cried. This is all your fault. Look what's happening in front of you. Alder is being hurt because of you. This is all your doing!
King Brennus kicked Alder's nose, breaking it. Alder screamed, as blood flowed down from his nostrils. He gasped, trying to breathe through his mouth now--breathing through his nose was too painful to do.
"Please stop!" Hawthorn begged, tears pricking in the corners of his eyes. "You're hurting him!"
This is all your fault.
"I will do whatever I want," King Brennus snarled. "I am the king!"
He stomped Alder's head on the ground. Multiple times. Alder cried out, sobbing as each hit hit his head on the ground.
"STOP IT!" Hawthorn screamed. "You're going to kill him!"
King Brennus stopped then, but not because Hawthorn told him to. Instead, he kicked Alder's face, splitting his lip. As blood pooled around Alder's head, Hawthorn could see Alder's body shivering, as if he was cold.
He was alive. Thank the Goddess Above.
But look at him. He's a bloody mess because of you. You're a monster, Hawthorn. A MONSTER.
"Guards!" King Brennus bellowed.
The double doors swung open almost immediately, and two guardsmen walked in. Bowing for a second, one of them asked, "Yes, Your Highness?"
"Take these two in the dungeon," King Brennus said, pointing at the two captives. "Make sure they don't try to escape."
The guardsmen saluted, before they do as they were told. One guardsman grabbed Hawthorn by the hair, forcing him back on his feet, before he was half-dragged out of the throne room. He heard grunting behind him, and Hawthorn could only assume that the other guardsman picked up Alder to take him to the dungeon.
Hawthorn knew. This was going to get worse.

Among moss and ferns something slept. It knew not of the rose rays of sunrise seeping through young leaves. It could not hear the howling of the wind above or the birds singing to greet the coming of spring.
It dreamt of a place darker than a starless night, of flight and of falling.
It dreamt of hands caked in mud, of crawling and of tearing through a canopy of roots.
Finally it stirred and began unravelling. From a bundle of white fabric limbs began slowly emerging. The small creature rose and only then it became apparent that it was a child, probably a boy, with dishevelled brown hair and clothing that was best described as rags.
He grabbed a broken branch he fashioned into a walking stick, blinked at the sun lazily and wandered away.
As the day went on the birdsong grew quiet. To the child’s delight, despite the strong winds chasing heavy clouds in the sky, fog gathered among the trees. It snaked around almost as if alive, curling up wherever the sunlight did not quite reach. The boy watched with amazement as it grew. He thought that it almost looked like it was reaching out towards him.
That could have been a reason for concern, since he was alone, deep in the wilderness, away even from the tracts that were reluctantly used, only by heavily armed caravans and the desperate. But he was thirteen, had a stick in his hand for a weapon and could climb trees really fast. This surely meant he was as well equipped as one can be to face the world.
The fog grew and swelled steadily, until the whole world became a collection of blurry shadows. In the distance something large moved through it.
The boy ran quietly towards where he saw the movement, wanting to make sure it was not just a trick of his eyes. He found nothing there but towering old trees, their branches weaving slowly. The child’s disappointment was short-lasting as at the edge of where he could see something moved again.
Over the next hour it happened multiple times, in the dead quiet of the endless grey ocean something would appear, but always for just a moment, too far to properly see. Sometimes there would come a sound, a call so distant it could have been both of a man or a beast. The child dutifully followed each one, making his way down the gentle slope of the valley.
Just as the boy began to grow bored the fog was filled with a wail so low it was more felt than heard. A distorted cry that made a cold shiver run down the child’s spine. It hung in the air for longer than he was able to hold his breath. At that point it finally occurred to the boy that he may not be safe. Slowly and cautiously he began moving from tree to tree, searching for one he could climb. All of them were an old growth with the nearest branches at many times the child’s height.
The boy sneaked through the endless fog with a growing sense of unease.
Then, he stopped.
Between the trees a new shadow appeared. For a moment the child thought it could have been his, somehow cast many meters away, as it was shaped like a person and more or less his height, but when he waved at it, it remained motionless.
The shadow slowly extended a part of itself that was supposed to be a hand and made a beaconing gesture.
The movement made it sway slightly as if it was not supporting its own weight.
The forest remained deathly silent.
The boy stared at the shadow with eyes wide open and began silently walking forward.
To an outside observer it would have seemed that the child was being enthralled, unnaturally compelled to move and reach out his hand. But that was not the case, the boy moved like one would towards a bird, never seen before, that inexplicably is not flying away, trying to see if it can be touched.
The boy did not know what the shadow was and with every step his excitement grew, because he assumed that what he saw was another person, made blurry by the fog, but moving closer had not made the stranger any clearer. Even when he stopped an arm’s reach away from the apparition it still looked like a shadow cast on the fog by some invisible object. The boy’s mind was on fire with questions of what he was seeing and what he should do, all while he continued to extend his hand towards it. When he realised there is something moving above him he allowed his self-preservation instinct to shine.
In a swift motion the child swung his stick up and brought it down. There was almost no force behind it, it was not meant to be an attack, but a test of a theory.
The stick dropped down meeting no resistance.
The shadow disappeared while the stick passed through it.
“Hello?!?” the child shouted quietly, his voice muffled, even to his own ears. “How did you do that?” the child added, without as much as a hint of fear in his voice.
He spun around looking for where the apparition could have gone and to his surprise saw it swaying gently a few steps away. An indiscernible whisper filled the air.
The shadow extended its hand again and the child began repeating the gesture.
The low painful wail filled the forest again and the boy flinched back to cover his ears.
When he looked up, the shadow was gone.
The child searched for his new friend fruitlessly. He saw no more distant movements and not long after the fog began to dissipate, letting the child out into a late evening in the wilderness. The sun had already began to set, drowning the forest in elongating shadows.
“Do you know what that was?” The child spoke, half addressing his stick, half no one in particular.
The only answer was the chirping of insects.

Damn, Kohga has clearly been fucked by A LOT of men (like damn, his ass doesn't even need prep) And Sooga is clearly possessive AS FUCK. Consider: Kohga tying down/ordering Sooga to sit still while Kohga jacks it/fingers himself, while telling Sooga FILTHY stories of his past dalliances until Sooga can't handle it anymore.
Ooooh this is a GOOD idea. Sooga maybe bottom, but he's a possessive bottom, and we STAN that energy.
Kohga was horny as SHIT. Nothing new in that sentence, but what was different was the fact that it was caused by Sooga's possessiveness. It started off innocently enough; Kohga wanting to spank his big, juicy ass. Simple enough. Then he got into it. Hard, fierce spanking across his ass. And what caused it? That classic territorial nature of all blade masters. Kohga so much as MENTIONED bringing one in, and he just slapped his ass six ways from sunday. Hell, he needed to sit on a pillow for a few days after that. He even recalled how Sooga apologized for that, but Kohga would have none of it. Sooga was an ANIMAL. He just had to take the beast out of the cage.
"But how…."
He asked himself, rolling over to his stomach. He sent Sooga out on some scavenger hunt (he did this whenever he needed Sooga out of the base for a while), and was left to his own devices. He needed time to think about just how he was gonna get a rise out of Sooga. Poking the beast, so to speak. He couldn’t bring another guy in to watch, they'd start beating the shit out of each other (though them fighting was ALWAYS hot). Sooga wouldn’t even let them be near their DOOR when they did it. It was ridiculous. Other guy's Kohga fucked was not this complicated. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. He nearly bolted out of bed, completely astounded by his own brilliance.
"Kohga! You're not only a hunk, you're a GENIUS!"
Kohga knew just what to do.
---------------------
"Master Kohga, I have returned."
Kohga nearly bounced in place upon hearing his voice. He was SO ready for his pretty boy to come home. He opened his door, nearly yanking Sooga inside his room, and pulling him into a hug. Sooga sputtered in surprise, before chuckling and returning the affection.
"I was not expecting such a warm welcome for my arrival."
"Well, shame on you! Been waiting for you to come back! You like that mushy couple bullshit, so you'll love this!"
He looked up at Sooga, who cocked his head to the side.
"I do. But you don't."
"One, shut up. Two, I love YOU. So! We're gonna do something...interesting."
He pulled up a chair for Sooga (aka the good chair he got from Kingy), while he sat on his bed. Sooga was clearly not understanding what was happening, but he was going along with it, especially given Kohga’s excitement. He had drinks, snacks (mainly slices of nut cake and fruit), and even candles. It was sweet, honestly. Kohga patted his hand, clearly excited.
"So, Traysi recommends this for couples who are VERY serious about each other."
"The woman who runs the rumor mill? Should we be following-"
Kohga flicked his mask, huffing.
"We do not disrespect Traysi here. And yes, we're doing this. So you're ready?"
"If you are, absolutely."
"Good, you're going to go first. Now, tell me about EVERYONE you've been with before."
Sooga seemed confused by this. But, it was not only a command from Kohga, but Kohga actually and honestly trying to bond with him. Who could say no to that? Sooga thought about it for a moment.
"Let's see...when I was five, I married my neighbor's daughter. We had a mud cake and everything."
He chuckled. It wasn’t at all a serious answer, but it was just. So odd, recalling his past relationships, especially since they seemed so redundant now. He rubbed his chin a bit.
"Then there was Nabooru. I dated her when I was about fourteen. Lovely girl."
Kohga cocked his head to the side.
"You ACTUALLY dated girls?"
"In my teen years. When I was seventeen we broke up, started to date a stable boy. Shad. He was...a bit of a bookworm. I really liked him."
"What happened to you guys?"
Sooga hesitated, opening his mouth then closing it again.
"Father didn't....what I mean to say is...uhm, If I may skip, Master Kohga."
Oof, rough territory. Kohga waved his hand, letting him know to press on. Sooga shook the thought out of his head, happy to no longer be thinking about it.
"Then there were the occasional hookups. Nothing serious, a few men to share a bed with for the night. Chudly, Benja, and Vilia. Then it was you."
Kohga blinked. Wow. Could buy a piece of bread with that body count.
"That's...it? Only FIVE people? And one was a WOMAN? That’s ALL the people you’ve been with?!”
“Yes. Though, I wouldn’t fully include the first one, in all honesty.”
Sooga rubbed the back of his neck shyly, clearly a bit embarrassed from how little that seemed to be. Kohga just couldn’t fathom that. Five people, in his entire life. Sooga was a young stud, he could get plenty of his ass, just on his walk home. Kohga couldn’t fathom that. Sooga seemed to shrink a bit under his clearly bewildered look.
“Is that...too few?”
Kohga realized he was making Sooga feel self conscious. He was aiming for jealousy, not this. He raised his hands up a bit, shaking his head.
“No! No, any number is fine, even none. I’m just saying, I expected a LOT more. I mean, LOOK at you!”
Sooga chuckled, blushing like crazy underneath his mask like the cute guy he was.
“Well, thank you, Master Kohga. But no, I have not been with anyone else. Just those, and I haven’t missed one. You know, I can actually see the merit in this piece of advice. It feels good, getting that off my chest. Is it your turn?”
Kohga almost wanted to cuddle his big, dumb face. Thankfully, he was too horny to bail on his plans. Kohga nodded.
“It is, actually. BUT. I have one order to give you, got it?”
“I...suppose.”
“You have to stay put in that chair. No matter what. Understand?”
Sooga looked confused, but he nodded.
“I’m afraid I don’t understand. But, an order is an order. I will stay seated.”
“Good. Good.”
Kohga grabbed his box of fun stuff, placing it right next to him, then laid on his back. He hoisted one leg over the other, arms behind his head.
“Okay, get comfy. Now, the first guy I dated was when I was...seventeen or so? I wanted to date earlier, but dad said to wait. Anyway, he was a merchant that’d come by every once and while. He was SUPER cute, and honestly? Not too bad of a kisser. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only guy he was seeing, but...well, I couldn’t complain, he was super cute. Nice hair. Always dated guys with nice hair.”
Kohga remembered those early years. Back when he didn’t know shit. Back when kissing was new and exciting to him. Sooga looked confused.
“I thought you said no one but you and your father saw your face.”
“Oh no, I NEVER took this off. A wise man caught nude will cover his face, not his privates.”
That made Sooga chuckle.
“A rather clever, yet lewd saying. Please, do continue.”
“Gladly.”
Kohga twiddled with his fingers as he recalled. Is he supposed to go in order? Or just whatever crossed his mind? He thought about it, before he thought about it.
“Oooh, then there was another one of my boyfriends. He was going through like, this weird hair phase? His hair was red, he had it up, and he was just. Big. Big, buff, and honestly he was just. Stupid. Let me tell you, I could grab onto his arm, and he could lift me up with absolutely no issues. We didn’t last long though, he thought he was hot shit. He GENUINELY said ‘babe, you’re pretty, but I’m prettier’. Can you imagine that? Ugh. Dude fucked good though, he REALLY did. He’d get all hot and sweaty after his work outs, and then. Well, dude fucked good. Real good.”
Kohga stripped himself free of his pants, and held his finger up when Sooga clearly wanted to ask questions. He stripped himself free, before getting comfy again, just stroking at his thighs.
“I remember once, when he got back from his trip across seas, he ended up fucking me right in the bar. We got just, so drunk, and he couldn’t keep himself off of me. He railed me in front of all his men, the barkeep, and pretty much who seemed to be paying attention. I was a young thing back then, a thick dick was all it took. I remember, I tried to give him his beer after he came in me, and I just, dumped it all over his chest by accident. He was a good sport about it, all I had to do was clean him up. Only, I didn’t have a rag, so...I had to improvise. Licked that dude like a lollipop.”
Sooga not so gracefully, grabbed a bottle of his favorite oil, and used it to rub along his thighs, just for a bit of a show, before sticking two fingers into his ass. Been a while since he touched himself like this, much less in front of someone else, and it felt GOOD, watching his greedy eyes upon him.
“It wasn’t a long relationship, but it was a fun one. Let's see, who else was there...ooh, there was that one guy. Dad HATED him, and I think there was a huge appeal in that. He was in charge of fixing trains and stuff. Big, muscle guy. Cute scar, tattoos, big hands. He wasn’t as rebellious as the other guy. We lasted a bit longer, but not by much. Super sweet. I remember he'd pick me out of nowhere, just because he could. That dude was the sorta romance then in your pants dance type. But he was KINKY. Dude really liked holding me down and giving it to me. I remember, we got REAL rough with it one time, he tied my hands up, tied me up in his workshop, and just railed my ass. Swore we almost got caught by a client once!"
Kohga laughed, really digging and stretching his ass.
"He taught me how to do this. Taught me how to get my nice, oily fingers inside of me. Taught me how to get nice and ready for the cocks he knew I wanted. In a way...he was my first.”
He snuck a glance at Sooga’s eyes, and he saw it. The little sparkles of jealousy. He knew he wasn’t his first, but knowing the details really got under his skin. Kohga introduced three fingers now, really arching his back as he felt himself be a little bit stretched. Sooga wasn’t goosey loosey down there, but he could take three fingers, knuckle deep, before he felt that familiar longing inside of him.
“Then...Then there was this other guy. Up until I started the clan, he was my partner in crime. Long hair, always kept in a ponytail. Nice, strong hands, and his eyes were something else. They were so...intense. Should’ve seen me the first time I caught those eyes, I was on him like a stack of bananas. He was the more...aloof than most of the guys I dated. He’d pop in and out, constantly looking for ways to get stronger. Never really got that guy. We would just..somehow end up in bed together. Sometimes it would be in a bed over some stable, sometimes it’d be some random, abandoned spot in the mountains. Either way, he’d fuck me, and be gone by morning. Hell, I don’t even think I caught his name. I just remembered we REALLY, REALLY liked each other.”
Kohga had to admit, recalling all of his past lovers was very, very fun. Recalling how many big, strong men wanted him, how each one fucked him differently, it was thrilling. He pulled his fingers out of himself, letting Sooga take a gander at his oiled, willing ass. The same ass that knew many, many men, and started to pump his cock. He would go on with his other boyfriends, but he didn’t want to wait longer. He wanted to hit Sooga right in that weak spot.
“Then the clan started. Those other blade masters...well. Let’s just say there’s a reason they’re so high in the ranks.”
He saw Sooga’s fingers grip onto the seats. He was already fuming from his past lovers, but his own peers? Oh, that was a way to get under a blade master’s hide. He was getting ANGRY. Not at Kohga of course, just the motion that ANYONE touched his precious Kohga.
“I remember once, a couple of them snuck into my room. They thought I was dead asleep, but I was very much awake. I felt them grope me, felt them pull at my clothes till it came off. Next thing I knew I had two in my ass, and two in my hands. Course I had that one guy in my mouth two, and the other three watching...oh who really knows? Once one was done, another guy took over. They pumped me full of cum, sucked and toyed with my cock. And I remembered I’d bark at them not to cum until I did, so they fucked me HARDER. Let me tell you, I have NEVER been that full of cum. Was practically swimming in it, and that was just how I liked it. I remembered them all tuckered out, asking if they pleased me.”
Kohga lifted his head up to look at his eyes. So angry, so jealous and furious, as if he was going to kill them for an absolute injustice.
“This...was the only case of them, yes?”
“Ooooh no. No. Not at all. Until you fell into the mix, I’d have a select few fuck me a few times a week. I still remember my favorite one. Big, strong guy. He’d tie my hands up in rope, nice and tight, and he’d just hold me down when he fucked me. He’d lean into my ear and whispered words dirty enough to make me shake. He was my favor-”
That was enough. Suddenly Sooga was on top of him, slamming his palm over Kohga’s mouth. Kohga was expecting something angry, something a bit kinky. But no. Sooga was FURIOUS. There was no stammering, no sweet talking, not even him asking as sweetly as he usually would. He just stuffed his cock in his eager, oiled ass, and fucked him. Fucked him with enough force that the head board kept knocking against the wall, that his hips ached from such a big, heavy body putting so much force into him.
"Stop it. Stop it. You're doing this to get a rise out of me. You want me to fuck you so badly, Master Kohga? I'll do that. I'll fuck you. I'LL be your favorite. No one else. Just me. Look at me."
And Kohga was LOOKING. Sooga had his legs wrapped around his own, keeping him in place so he had no choice but to take that nice, hard cock, right against that good fucking spot. Kohga tugged and clawed at his hand, as if he was trying to get Sooga off. Thank god Sooga knew better. Kohga just liked to thrash a bit, really MAKE his partner fuck his shit up. And Sooga was LOVING it. Kohga managed to move his mouth away a bit, trying not to grin too wildly.
"That's it, FUCK ME Sooga! Fuck my oiled ass, make me think of only YOUR cock!"
Kohga reached up to grab fistfulls of his uniform, yanking him to his face. Fuck that beautiful, panting face.
"Fuck me nice and proper, Sooga. Make me cum. Be my favorite boy, make my exes look like fucking LOSERS!"
Sooga may be pounding his ass like dough, but Kohga’s demands were still Kohga's. Sooga obeyed, shoving his fingers into Kohga’s pretty mouth, nearly making him gag as he continued to pound into him. Kohga knew he did that because he liked his dirty talk. Knew that he would cum if he listened to his pleading Master anymore, and he really, really wanted to be a good boy. Unfortunately, Sooga was so weak for his master. His fingers peeled out of his mouth, Sooga quickly becoming un done by not only his words, but his nice, tight body. Not that Kohga minded a small break from the rather large fingers. He was happy to sit there, moaning and grumbling, just absolutely so close to that edge.
“You LIKE fucking your Master Kohga, don’t you big guy?”
For a moment, they looked each other in the face, and Kohga only saw lust and competition. Exactly what he deserved to see in those big, pretty eyes of his. Sooga seemed to feel the exact same, as he leaned down, and pressed his forehead against his. For a moment, he was calm, still.
“I love you. More than anything. As such...I refuse to let your heart, or your loins, long for another.”
Translation? ‘Your ass is fucking mine’. This was right before Sooga put one hand on his chest, and the other on the headboard, continuing to slam his hips against Kohga. He couldn’t stop him (well he was strong enough to, but who the fuck would stop a BEAST like this?), and that’s how he liked it. He liked the force of his thrusts, liked the way the bed seemed to complain from the force, and loved, absolutely loved the feeling as hot seed was pumped into his insides. Kohga greedily raked his fingers down his back, finding himself cumming almost completely on time with Sooga. It had been SO long since that had happened, and it made poor Kohga’s body tremble. He sat there for a moment, letting Sooga finish emptying his balls right into him. It took a lot out of poor Sooga, given his panting, but his hips didn’t completely stop, instead settling for a nice, slow roll into Kohga.
“M...master Kohga? I’m...sorry.”
“Fucking hell Sooga, don’t you DARE apologize here, you ANIMAL.”
Kohga chuckled, wiping his face underneath his mask, finding himself drenched in sweat. Sooga shook his head.
“You don’t understand. I uh, do believe I broke the bed frame.”
Kohga was a bit too buzzed to fully understand, before it clicked. He leaned over a bit, and sure enough, Sooga broke three out of the four legs underneath his bed. What a feat. Kohga tossed his head back as he laughed, pushing into his shoulder.
“Oh, you were NOT kidding! Damn Sooga, look at you! Though you’re a big boy, shoot for all four next time.”
Sooga lightly shook his head, sighing. He could tell he was amused in his exhaustion.
“You’re relentless, Master Kohga, truly.”
Sooga’s finger danced up his chest, before he flicked his chin.
“The other Blade Master could do it.”
Sooga’s firm hand pushed onto his chest, nearly knocking the wind out of Kohga.
“You enjoy me putting me through trials, Master Kohga. You really, really do.”
“Oh, bite me, big boy.”
Sooga’s voice got nice and low, making Kohga nearly swoon underneath him.
“Is that a challenge?”
Something told Kohga, that Sooga was ready to prove himself as the best of the best.
