Pre fight nerves. The moment you realize you're actually about to get into a fight with someone that's been training and game planning exclusively to hurt you.

I'd have thought the anxiety and pre fight nerves would lessen with the more experience I get. I was wrong. For each fight the stakes are higher, the crowds are bigger, and the with the increase in exposure and notoriety, the expectations grow larger.

What changes is how you teach yourself to manage and adapt to it. The mental game can make or break your career as an athlete.

Meniscus Tear

...alright. Went to my doctor yesterday who's a sports medicine specialist. He's sending me for an MRI because it's been five/six weeks since my knee has been swelled up and painful and it's not going down. He doesn't REALLY think it's the meniscus but he wants to be certain. The problem is that I've become so accustomed to pain that I don't really register it anymore. I know that sounds wanky but it's true. I've broken my hand twice and toes numerous times since I started competing and every time they're diagnosed as such I always think "...really? It doesn't FEEL that bad". The weird thing with this sport is that you're in a mad space between needing to ignore pain out of necessity and having to register when rest is necessary because otherwise you're risking permanent injury. Best case scenario it's maybe a bursar bleed - "bursitis", and will clear up relativity quickly. If I'm less lucky it's maybe the patella (knee cap). The doctor can feel crepitus, but doesn't think I've broken it...but maybe something is out of place. I might have to do PRP. Ah what the fuck. Comes with the territory I guess. On a lighter note, my doctor is a Persian chap called Amir who curses like a drunken sailor. Absolute legend.
