ATTENTION MEET THE ROBINSONS FANS!

Apparently, I've decided to continue on doing Songtober as a tradition! Last year the fics were... not great (seriously don't read them they're ass), but I've already chosen the songs for the month, and throughout September I will be writing them! Or will I?

Hey. To any MtR fanfic writers out there. Do you want to join in? I could use the help!

Flex those creative muscles and create fics inspired ONLY by a single song! You'll get to pick which songs you want to write for, and of course they'll be evenly distributed. Last year doing Songtober really took a mental toll on me, but it was still fun to do so I'm doing it again. Hopefully, if I have some help this time, I won't be randomly ill for the next few weeks.

You can ask me questions if you have them, and if you want to collab, we can discuss a time to meet up over Discord to discuss the finer details. (I'm sorry it has to be Discord.) I'd prefer a voice call, but I understand if you don't want to do that. Just sending messages is fine. I will not video calls! I'm too self conscious for that, lol.

For full disclosure! - "Songtober" is a little project I created last year. I chose a bunch of songs (one for each day of October), and I wrote a oneshot for Meet the Robinsons for every day and song. Like an Inktober thing. I came up with the idea because I was frustrated with the lack of MtR fics at the time. - I'm not gonna be able to pay you. I have to save what little money I have for basic survival stuff right now. All of this is being done for fun's sake. - While the songs from last year weren't too disturbing, some of the songs I have lined up this year bring up heavy/potentially triggering topics, and some are a little unsettling. After all, October is spooky month. - Over Discord, I'll create a new DM group for all of us to interact in. Once Songtober is over, I will delete the group chat and you can leave it (unless protested otherwise). - You can join at any skill level. I'm not a skill prude. - You will need to be familiar with Google Docs, as this is how I will be able to receive your fanfics once they are completed. - The fics will be posted on AO3 under my account. If you have an AO3 account, you will appear as a co-creator on the actual collection. - More details will be discussed in the Discord.

He only managed a year into highschool before he had to quit. Taking care of his brothers was his priority. It stung bitterly to see other kids his age going about their daily lives, especially when his old classmates would invite him to hang out. He just couldn’t accept the time away from his family to have a day off.

Ichiro had a decent rep at school. Everyone knew him as an otaku, but it just so happened that his friendship group was a decent size so he was never picked on because of it.

Disliked Subject: Japanese

Grade: High C / Low B

Club: Soccer

There was never a time where Jiro wasn’t popular. His kindness was shown through helping out teachers and his skill in the soccer club made him everyone’s envy. But since he was genuinely a nice kid, nobody ever acted on that jealousy. He gets about two or three confessions a month!

Highschool is the most normal of things for him. Despite his ‘fans’, people still treat him normally. Right now his biggest concerns are just making it past test season, but he’s not so sure what he’ll do when it comes applying for universities.

Disliked Subject: ICT (Computing/Tech)

Grade: High A+

Club: Science - Never actually shows up

He initially chose to take ICT for the easy grade, but now it’s way too easy for him! His teacher wants him transferred to another class because Saburo complains that he’s not learning anything - he can build a site in under an hour, and he’s pretty sure he knows way more than his teacher too.

This is the kid that keeps on saying that he should’ve been thrown ahead to high school but just doesn’t have the emotional maturity for it yet. He can’t make friends easily because he thinks he’s smarter than everyone and never cooperates during group projects despite how people are genuinely trying to connect with him.

Club: Fashion

His grades would have been abysmal if not for some EXTREME sucking up to his teachers. Ramuda is also extremely squeamish so he gets antsy whenever they talked about dissection in class, and wouldn’t even think about medicines and chemical reactions because they made him nervous.

Ramuda’s eye for design made him sought out by every club to help with poster designs. Of course, Mr. Popular couldn’t say no when they were fueling his ego. At one point, there wasn’t a poster up in school that wasn’t designed by him.

Disliked Subject: PE

Grade: High B / Low A

Club: Literary Society - went with his brother

He may be good at running but anything else will kill him. If you throw a ball at him he will fall over, injuring his whole body and he has to go to the nurse’s office. The nurse kept on saying that it wasn’t that bad but he would claim so many reasons as to why he shouldn’t go back and they just got fed up with him.

He could be an A student if he wanted. Gentaro was smart enough for it, but if he just needed B’s to get into the university he wanted with his brother, then it was enough.

Disliked Subject: Social Studies - History

Grade: High A+ then dropped to Middle B

Club: Track Club

He’s an Arisugawa - he had heavy expectations on him. His grades slipped when the pressure of expectations fell on him as he watched his family fight amongst themselves. It’s not that he wasn’t understanding the material, but he didn’t feel the need to try anymore.

Dice would’ve joined with delinquents... if his school had any. His group was a bunch of people who skipped class to play card games in an abandoned room. Even at a private school like this, these kids lost any sense of poise and would throw everything into their gamble.

Disliked Subject: Home Economics

Grade: Low/Middle B

Club: Judo

“EVERYONE’S IN MY WAY I’M TRYING TO COOK. FUCK OFF.” Needless to say, he cannot cooperate in cooking class. Kuko can cook, like enough for himself, but he hates rubbing elbows with idiots that can’t even peel an onion without crying.

He hangs out on the school roof most days (like a shonen protagonist). Kuko’s sort of a lone wolf, but will sit down with anyone who’s actually brave enough to have lunch with him there. It’s a rag-tag group, but he wouldn’t say they were actually friends.

Disliked Subject: Science - Biology

Grade: Middle B

Club: ‘Light’ Music Club

He’s good with lyrics so he understands poems so easily. However, sometimes it slips into his answer and the person marking his work has trouble with understanding him... he can get more poetic than the poem he’s describing.

The light music club is more of an occult club at this point. Or visual kei likers... The school wouldn’t let them have either club, so they’re together under the guise of the light music club. Jyushi was in line to be successor of the ‘Prince of Darkness’ (Club President) but he got busy with his own band stuff.

Hitoya

Favourite Subject: Science - Biology

Disliked Subject: Social Studies - Geography

Grade: High A+

Club: Jazz band. Played the guitar.

Jakurai and Hitoya formed a jazz band together, since their school wasn’t big enough for an orchestra. It wasn’t a group that could ever compete in competitions, but it was enough to just jam with their friends. Hitoya still gets together with some of the members to play around.

The teachers though of him as one of the most reliable students... which meant that he ended up as their courier. Hitoya was just too nice to say no back then, but he still feels spiteful for the teachers who sent him up so many floors back then.

Do you see the difference between bullying and teaching? The girl isn't ok. Firstly she attacked SM for nothing. The way he promotes his work is nobody business, honestly. I'm more than sure she was just jealous and found the way Tto turn on SM. Then she was 'offended' by fans and decided to fool other people. Add not healthy fantasies about Pedro and we get at least mentally unstable person. She needs some help, professional help, otherwise it won't end up well.

I do not believe she attacked SM for nothing. She was correct in what she said to him. He USED Native American issues to promote his work. MTR is native and had EVERY single right to call that out. She was respectful in her comment to SM. SM is a white man who was using his allyship incorrectly.

I do think like most fangirls she has fantasies about Pedro. But I think she’s not unlike anyone else in the fandom. In general, I think everyone who believes in this “empress” is using massive amounts of projection. The belief they can magically save Pedro from himself. When we have no reason to believe he’s unhappy with his life. If you think MTR needs help, then every single fan girl who believes in this shit needs help.

hi elena and olivia! i love your work on the tinker bell project, as a huge tb fan i'm curious about a few details about it, so if you can share i would greatly appreciate it. i understand if you have to keep things under wraps though :) here are some questions I have for you, its okay if you can't answer them, hope this isn't rude or anything

It says it was unnamed, I saw this promo image of something supposedly at D23 expo called "Tinker Bell and the Unknown Season" is that a name you know? It's unknown if that name is an April Fools prank from what I looked into. But, I think the name aligns with the theming of the work, which is very pretty.

Was it a Christmas themed thing? Was it a holiday themed special or a movie? Was it a fairy-fied Christmas? Was there a theme of naughty and nice? Was there an overall concept other than "holiday"? (assuming that is the main concept)

What inspired you in the character designs? As character designers, what were you tasked with?

You were 18 right when first working on this movie, right? Could you share more on that experience for you, and what it was like? Did you feel imposter syndrome?

Did the Tinker Bell project help you in your future art career? Did it alienate you?

Was there anyone influential in the industry who mentored you? If you could share who else you worked with, it would be interesting. (like the director/producer etc, or the people you worked with more directly)

How was it like working at DTS?

Your current projects are The Moon and Me and your MTR fanart. Do you think the Tinker Bell project had an impact on even starting on some of your other creative endeavors? Did it make you more creatively ambitious, or did it have a different effect on you?

Was the project, stylistically, unique from Tinker Bell projects? (Animation, art direction etc)

Do you know how far the movie made it? I assume it only was pre-production.

Did you take inspiration from other TB/Disney projects, such as a art piece from another film?

Was this a cancelled concept before the Neverbeast movie was in the works, or were other TB movies in the production pipeline?

Forgive us for the very short response, we mean nothing by it. Tinkerbell was just a project we worked on and nothing really more. It helped us get a leg up in our resume, and that's it. :) It was fun though!

Police Shoot Teen Protester as Hong Kong Violence Escalates

Hong Kong police shot a teenage protester on Tuesday, the first to be hit by live ammunition in almost four months of unrest in the Chinese-ruled city, amid violent clashes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.

Cat-and-mouse clashes spread from the shopping district of Causeway Bay to the Admiralty area of government offices on Hong Kong island, and then on to the New Territories bordering mainland China, with police firing tear gas and water cannon at petrol bomb throwing activists.

Police said an officer shot an 18-year-old man in the shoulder in the Tsuen Wan area of the New Territories with a live round. Protesters have previously been hit with bean bags rounds and rubber bullets and officers have fired live rounds in the air.

Police chief Stephen Lo said the firing of live rounds – which were discharged in three places – was lawful and fair.

“Police lives were under serious threat, that’s why they fired live rounds,” he told reporters, adding that the wounded man was conscious when taken to hospital.

Dramatic video footage of the Tsuen Wan shooting shows a chaotic melee with riot police battling protesters wielding metal bars, before an officer fires a shot at close range.

As the wounded man steps back and falls, someone tries to help, but another policeman tackles him to the ground.

Tuesday’s violence was the most widespread since the unrest erupted in early June, plunging the former British colony into its biggest political crisis in decades and posing the most serious popular challenge to President Xi Jinping since he came to power.

Protesters had vowed to seize the opportunity on China’s National Day to propel their calls for greater democracy onto the international stage, hijacking an occasion Beijing sees as an opportunity to showcase China’s economic and military progress.

“I’m not young, but if we don’t march now, we’ll never have the chance to speak again, it’s as simple as that,” said one marcher near Causeway Bay, a 42-year-old woman with her own logistics company who identified herself as Li.

POLICE BAN DEFIED

Setting the scene for confrontations, thousands of black-clad protesters, some wearing Guy Fawkes masks, had marched on Admiralty, defying a police ban. Violence escalated across the harbor to Kowloon and beyond to the New Territories.

In the Admiralty area, police fired water cannon and volley after volley of tear gas to disperse protesters throwing Molotov cocktails outside central government offices and ordered the evacuation of the Legislative Council building next door.

Petrol bombs were also thrown at MTR metro stations, including at Causeway Bay and Admiralty and Sham Shui Po in the New Territories. Many stations were closed to stop protesters moving around.

Chinese banks and Chinese-backed businesses were targeted with petrol bombs and anti-China graffiti. Local broadcaster RTHK said it was pulling all its reporters away from the violence after one was hit on the head.

Police said 31 people had been wounded across the territory, two critically, without giving details.

Protester Jerry, 26, dressed in black and sitting amid the wreckage in Causeway Bay, denounced the police.

“The Hong Kong police, they’ve just lost their minds,” he told Reuters. “They just follow orders. They say it’s to protect lives, but they see the people as objects.”

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab criticized the use of live ammunition.

“Whilst there is no excuse for violence, the use of live ammunition is disproportionate, and only risks inflaming the situation,” Raab said in a statement.

A United Nations spokesman called for protests to be peaceful and security forces to exercise restraint.

BIRTHDAY PARADE

Hong Kong has been tense for weeks, with protests often turning violent, as authorities tried to avoid activists spoiling Beijing’s birthday parade.

Hundreds of officials and members of Hong Kong’s pro-establishment elite began the day with a flag-raising ceremony and National Day reception at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, held early and moved behind closed doors. Roads to the center were closed and tightly policed.

Hong Kong had benefited from China’s support under the “one country, two systems” policy, Acting Chief Executive Matthew Cheung told the assembly, referring to guarantees of political freedoms after the city’s handover from British to Chinese rule in 1997.

But he said escalating violence was disrupting social order and hurting the economy.

The government of embattled leader Carrie Lam has already canceled an annual Oct. 1 fireworks display over the city’s Victoria Harbour, citing public safety.

Lam, who was trapped in a stadium for hours last week after attending the “open dialogue”, left for Beijing on Monday to celebrate China’s birthday on the mainland.

In contrast to events in Hong Kong, Beijing’s carefully choreographed anniversary festivities included troops marching through part of Tiananmen Square with new missiles and floats celebrating the country’s technological prowess.

Lam was shown on television smiling as a float celebrating Hong Kong went past as she sat with Chinese officials.

The Communist Party leadership is determined to project an image of national strength and unity in the face of challenges including Hong Kong’s unrest.

“On our journey forward, we must uphold the principles of peaceful reunification and one country, two systems; maintain lasting prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macau … and continue to strive for the motherland’s complete reunification,” Xi said in a nationally televised speech in Beijing.

The protests were initially triggered by a contentious extradition bill, now withdrawn, that would have allowed people to be sent from Hong Kong to mainland China for trial, but have since morphed into a much wider campaign.

Hong Kong protesters are angry about what they see as creeping Chinese interference in the Asian financial center.

China dismisses the accusation and has accused foreign governments, including the United States and Britain, of fanning anti-China sentiment.
