I've kept fish for many years, and as soon as Louis started obsessing over these fish, I was like, oh no... he's got a one-way ticket to the eighth ring of hell that is keeping fish.

Then, he started projecting all of his problems onto a fish. Which is a mood. I'm pretty sure every fishkeeper has done that. My fish in college doubled as a therapist.

Then Louis obsessively cares for said therapy fish while giving the other fish bare minimum care.

What am I reading? My own life story in the fishkeeping hobby?

Does the author have fish? Because there is only a certain type of person who is crazy enough to enjoy keeping fish (speaking from experience), and Louis captures that perfectly.

May have bought the first 9 volumes of the MTP manga.... (honestly i got them for a good price in bulk so it's not too bad) but i'm so happy!!!

i'm 4 volumes in and it's all so interesting especially the storylines that got cut from the anime like The Haunting of the Baskervilles and The Man with the Golden Army. I also love Moniepeny i'm so sad she got cut from the anime she's sweet.

They now join my BSD light novel shelf (my BSD main manga, Wan and Beast collection are in the other shelf to the right). A better set up will probably be sorted later on but for now i'm just enjoying them being there.

Empat Anime Tersuka dan Penjelasannya

Sedikit banyak, aku senang ada beberapa orang yang ternyata nonton anime atau baca manga juga di lingkaran media sosial aku. Meskipun dikit banget. Tapi beberapa kali mereka cerita kalau mereka baca tulisan dan apa yang aku share, jadi aku juga senang. Sering ditanya, ada rekomendasi ngga? Jawabannya, ini ya, aku tulis lumayan niat untuk yang belum pernah gemar anima / manga juga.

Aku ngga jelasin satu-satu ini tentang apa ya. Kalian bisa baca atau cari sinopsisnya aja. Tapi untuk anime 4 teratas, ada aku bahas di sini. Honestly, empat teratas itu terbaik dengan genre dan jenis ceritanya masing-masing sih. Jadi susah untuk mengurutkannya mana yang pertama.

Let me elaborate.

Haikyuu! adalah anime tentang voli. Tokoh utamanya adalah Hinata yang sejak SMP pengen banget bisa jadi ace dalam tim voli. Tapi sayang, dia ngga punya tim resmi yang mau main voli. Baru punya tim ketika SMA, yang mana jadi terlihatlah kalau Hinata masih seperti gelas kosong dalam skill voli. Di tim ini, dia berkembang bersama teman-temannya yang lain untuk membuktikan, Karasuno bukan lagi gagak yang tidak bisa terbang.

Anime yang satu ini vibe-nya menyenangkan dan membahagiakan. Desain karakternya atau personalitasnya terbaik. Aku bahkan ngga bisa yang mengabaikan tim lawan gitu lho. Saking tim lawan Karasuno juga punya back story dan personalitas yang layak diikuti (kecuali Tim Nohebi, ya. Catet tim yang satu ini, huh!)

Kalau lagi sedih tapi pengen senyum, nonton Haikyuu bisa bikin mood membaik, bahkan bisa bikin less lonely ketika nonton. Its music scoring is the best! Kalo ada yang tanya, anime apa ya yang bisa ditonton tapi ringan dan bagus? Haikyuu! Fiks.

Tapi dia kan sport anime? Nah justru itu. Ngga sangka dari sport anime tentang voli, banyak hal yang berarti buatku mengenai alur cerita dan setiap–aku ulang ya, setiap karakter di dalamnya. Soalnya mereka punya ciri, masalah, dan trauma masing-masing–tapi juga sudah tengah dan sudah berusaha untuk overcome masalah mereka.

Aku bikin tulisan analisis karakter Haikyuu Tim Karasuno di sini, di sini, dan di sini ya.

Bungou Stray Dogs ini, keren dari segi cerita yang dalam dan pengelolaan karakter. Tokohnya diambil dari sastrawan yang sudah pada meninggal. Makanya ada bagian-bagian dari manga dan animenya yang akan terkait dengan hasil karya sastra yang mereka buat, dan kehidupan sastrawannya sendiri.

Awal nonton animenya, aku masih belum tahu kalau BSD akan sedalam dan sesuram itu ceritanya. Kupikir cuma cerita agensi detektif yang berusaha jaga kota Yokohama dari intruders yang berambisi dapatkan "buku" yang paling magical di dunia. Ternyata, lebih dari itu dan banyak hal yang tidak ringan. Jadi, aku mungkin cuma akan merekomendasikan nonton ini bagi mereka yang sehat secara mental aja. Apalagi ketika aku tahu ternyata ada light novelnya yang memuat cerita pengisi yang tidak dimuat dalam story line utama.

Cuma, di satu sisi anime dan manga BSD ini kaya. Banyak mengupas sisi kemanusiaan yang mungkin tidak semua orang berani menyentuh bagian yang sangat depresif itu. Apalagi kalau sudah mulai mengulik hal-hal yang ternyata diambil dari karya dan kepribadian sastrawan yang dijadikan tokoh. Aku sih ya, karena cukup familiar dengan beberapa nama sastrawannya, excited saat bisa paham kenapa tokoh yang itu begitu, dan yang ini begini.

Makanya sangat pengen ada yang nonton BSD juga sampai mau mendetaili manganya seperti aku, biar aku bisa ngobrol. Tapi aku juga sadar, ini lumayan berat animenya, jadi yah. So lonely, rasanya :')

Moriarty The Patriot, adalah adaptasi dari cerita Sherlock Holmes menghadapi Moriarty. Bedanya, di anime ini tokohnya masih muda semua, dan Moriarty-nya punya back story yang berbeda dari novel aslinya. Ceritanya tentang 3 bersaudara James Moriarty yaitu Albert, William, dan Louise, yang ingin mengubah sistem sosial kelas di Inggris. Tapi, caranya membutuhkan Sherlock Holmes untuk memudahkan dan mengungkap tujuan-tujuan dari aksi mereka.

Ini bagus banget. Bahkan ketika baca manganya makin terlihat kenapa anime ini sangat worth to watch. Legalnya bisa ditonton di Youtube Muse Indonesia. Cuma aku ngga paham kenapa sangat underated, yang nonton hanya 250k views. Orang Indonesia pada ngga suka kali ya sama yang gini-gini? Padahal keren banget.

Visual animenya, mantap. Tadinya kupikir selain Studio Mappa, gambar anime lain akan biasa aja. Tahunya, ada juga ya yang bisa bikin visual yang sangat memuaskan mata selain dari Studio Mappa. Pace ceritanya juga cepat sih, tapi bukan berarti ngga bisa diikuti. Pas aja. Aku suka ini, karena biasanya salah satu alasan aku skeptis pada anime adalah saat pace-nya lambat.

Perfect ending. Huft, ngga bisa ngga bisa nangis sih di ending-nya. Banyak hal yang aku rasakan di situ karena merasa relate. Apalagi aku nonton itu sedang dalam masa sembunyi (masih sampai sekarang, makanya bagi yang sadar akan keberadaan aku, pasti sadar juga kalau aku sedang tidak ada).

Hm, yang pasti, Moriarty The Patriot bisa dengan tenang aku rekomendasikan ke orang bagi yang ingin coba nonton anime berkualitas.

Attack on Titan. Kalau ada amal jariyah soal anime, AoT ini sih tersangkanya, hehe. Soalnya AoT adalah awal aku mau nonton anime (bahkan baca manga). Kalau aku ngga nonton anime lagi setelahnya, dapat dipastikan AoT akan selalu jadi anime terbaik yang aku tonton. Cuma, maaf yaa, AoT masih ada hal-hal yang aku pertimbangkan untuk tidak ada di posisi pertama sendirian.

Ini ceritanya, semakin lama semakin kompleks. Bukan hanya tentang suatu penduduk pulau yang terisolasi dalam tembok agar tidak dibunuh titan, tetapi sampai berujung pada masalah kemanusiaan yang kompleks seperti politik, rasisme, dan genosida. Makanya susah untuk ngga spoiler itu. Cuma, masih sangat layak tonton karena anime bakal bikin kita berpikir banyak tentang manusia dan rasa takutnya pada sosok yang dia tidak tahu.

Warning aja sih, karena akan banyak kematian dan darah yang kita lihat di animenya. Saranku, jangan berani-berani menaruh hati pada tokoh di awal season. Biar ketika mereka mati, kita ngga sedih. Masih ada final season 4 yang akan tayang bulan Januari 2022, can't wait! Sangat excited tapi juga aku sudah berusaha antisipasi diri aku karena sudah tahu how much pain in that final season.

Oh iya, AoT ini bahkan dijadikan diskusi untuk menangkal rasisme lho dalam beberapa tulisan yang berhubungan dengan sosial politik dan hubungan internasional. Bahkan ya, pembangunan tembok isolasi pulau Paradis ada yang dijadikan skripsi anak sipil (eh apa arsitektur ya, lupa). Ya Allah, betapa menyenangkannya skripsi mereka ini, huhu.

So far, ada beberapa pola yang aku bisa temukan di 4 anime di atas sehingga bikin aku menjadikan mereka ada di 4 teratas:

1. Tokoh yang jelas, tegas, dan progresif dalam perubahannya. Meskipun ada ya sesekali plin-plan itu terjadi, tapi bukan menjadi major problem. Hinata dan Kageyama di Haikyuu; Eren, Armin, Levi, bahkan Jean yang awalnya pragmatis di AoT, 3 Bersaudara Moriarty di MTP; terakhir ada Atsushi, Dazai, Chuuya, dan Akutagawa; mereka semuanya punya ketegasan atas apa yang mereka perjuangkan saat sudah menemukan reason why-nya.

2. Tokoh perempuannya tidak lemah. Ini! Skeptisme aku pada manga dan anime adalah, biasanya tokoh perempuannya dibuat lemah dan cuma jadi fans service aja. Tapi di 4 anime itu, tokoh perempuannya bad ass semua alias keren-keren :') like, I want to be as strong and tough as them. Sekalipun good looking, tapi tidak digambar dalam bentuk yang bisa dijadikan objek seksual. Pakaiannya tertutup.

Oh, omong-omong, anime Jujutsu Kaisen itu, yang nomor 6, tokoh perempuannya juga kuat dan tertutup gitu kan pakaiannya. Itu karena authornya malu, takut dimarahi oleh orang tuanya dikira gambar yang aneh-aneh. Makanya karakter perempuannya sangat like-able sekali. Salut sih dengan cara Gege-san sebagai Author bisa menghargai orang tuanya dalam bikin manga.

Ya, meskipun sesekali suka ada-lah ya, flirting gitu. Namun ngga jadi hal yang besar dan ditonjolkan sepanjang anime. Bisa dilupakan begitu saja.

3. Membicarakan soal sistem sosial dan interaksi sosial. Ih, suka banget aku sama yang gini-gini. Keempatnya menyajikan dengan baik dua hal besar tersebut. Jadi, nonton anime pun bukan sekadar menghibur diri.

4. Menghargai eksistensi diri dan kebutuhan akan seseorang untuk mampu keluar dari cangkang.

Haikyuu menyajikan ini dengan cara yang kompetitif tapi juga seru untuk dibersamai, karena akan terkait dengan self esteem manusia banget. BSD memberikan tokoh yang bisa berubah soal pandangan tentang kehidupan. Misalnya, ada tokoh yang awalnya merasa lebih baik kalau mati, kemudian persepsinya berubah menjadi justru tidak baik bagi sekitar kalau dia (keburu) mati.

MTP ini, terutama di bagian akhir ya, sangat mampu mengungkap pesan soal dipahami dan memahami manusia. Bahkan bila hanya ada 1 orang yang mengerti, itu cukup bagi seseorang untuk bertahan hidup (ini juga yang ada dalam Zankyou no Terror dan Star Align). Sedangkan Aot, ini sangat terkait banget dengan ancaman terhadap eksistensi secara utuh. Gimana ya rasanya ingin dibunuh oleh satu dunia? Itulah yang dirasakan penduduk Paradis, bangsa Eldia. Sampai demi bisa jadi dianggap aman untuk dibiarkan hidup, harus jadi budak bagi bangsa lain. AoT mengemas rasisme ini dengan sangat baik.

Selain list di atas, aku sudah punya list anime yang mau ditonton. Rata-rata genre-nya yaaaa lumayan menguras pikiran dan emosi. Hehe. Tapi ya inilah yang aku suka. Aku jadi bisa sedikit banyak mentoleransi manusia karena melihat anime. Apalagi di masa pandemi, aku yang sangat butuh untuk ketemu orang dan berinteraksi secara langsung, sangat tertolong dengan anime :') kalau ngga ada anime, aku bisa merasa sangat kesepian saking craving for real human interaction.
