Snow Shoeing & Unusual Weather Patterns

The snow crust was icy, extremely so. This meant we used snow shoes instead of ski touring skis. After so many years with snow and ice, this is my first time snow shoeing. Much easier and more fun than expected. 

Jeff, the guide and BnB owner I stayed with, had never seen such weather at this time of year. At the same time, back in Scandinavia, we’re having the worst heat spell in 250 years. What is this - all these strange things happening to our world?

Magical Mt Kosciusko summit with Chris. A 22k hike-run of Australia's highest peak today. Holy heck, souls blazing with joy on the way there and up and down and in the hours since. We got the best of both worlds in a hike one way up - to drink in the surroundings; and a run another way down - in which we flew a little and paused occasionally with a breathless WHOA. For all the things I enjoy about running the hike can be a totally different perspective, and a lovely one to remember today. (And then we followed with local research of snowy mountain cookies factory, Mt Kosciusko pale ale pub, wild brumby gin distillery, stand up paddle boarding and yes I'll sleep well tonight) #magical #mountains #mtkosciuszko #summit #hike #run #australia
