To kinda focus on some good when it comes to magic, I just wanna talk about the decks I'm working on.
First off, just finished sleeving up a shalai and hallar deck I've technically had done for a while, but now it's ready to play. What's the plan? Well...

Tumblr media
...the plan is to soften the opponents up with burn damage as I create bigger and bigger slimes.
The second deck I'm working on is centered around Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel
Tumblr media
The idea here is straightforward. Proliferate as much as possible to get to four chorus counters, then start free casting eldrazi, sea monsters, and extra turn spells. With a silly little combo of free casting enter the infinite and finishing with a thoracle.
These are the main two, but I'm also slowly working towards Riku of Many Paths and Vazi, Keen Negotiator, the latter of which seemingly getting a lot of fun treasure hate to work with.
This was merely an exercise in talking about something I'm actually excited about for the game. Thank you for reading if you did. You get a star!

Kaervek as illustrated by Cristi Balanescu
With the latest episode of Thunder Junction's magic story, we're introduced to Oko's gang of Outlaws as Annie Flash decides to take him up in his offer. We learn that it was Ashiok who actually hired them to find the vault which is known as Maag Taranau. Akul and the Hellspurs built the town of Tarnation around the vault in an attempt to control it. Okoi was hired to find the keys to the vault.
Anyway, Oko has a larger gang than we thought. Along with Annie and Kellan, there is Rakdos and Vraska, Tinybones and Eriette, Malcolm and Breeches, Gisa and Geralf, and Kaervek and Satoru. A thirteen man gang to break into a vault believed to hold "RAW POWER!" as exclaimed by Breeches.

WotC really went all in on him being a sex symbol for this secret lair, didn't they? I try to avoid buying secret lair products right off the bat but I think I actually need this. A defining egg-cracking moment for me, how can I resist?

If not, he would—what? Keep going, he supposed. Beg a boat from the next port he reached. Fly to a Sun Empire village. Wander back to Orazca and pretend the plane wasn't falling apart again. But he wouldn't stop, not now, maybe not ever. If he did, the fungus would catch up. - The Lost Caverns of Ixalan episode 6, by Valerie Valdes
A wonderful commission done for me by my sweet mutual @hamingo of my boys Malcolm and Breeches from Magic: The Gathering. The Lost Caverns of Ixalan story really was these two having the worst fucking day of their lives. Breeches is just coping with it a lot better than Malcolm is.

Breeches: I FOUND LOOT!
Malcolm: As in treasure or as in the child?
Breeches, holding up gold on his hands and Loot on his back: YES!
Malcolm: Ok, I'll tell Vraska that-
Breeches: I TEACH HIM HOW TO MAKE THINGS GO BOOM
Malcom: Breeches NO!
Breeches: BREECHES YES!

Started brewing some decks for the first time in months today. Two of them are just gonna be much more casual things that I can fix up later, Arabella being really easy to build around(just put small creatures and tokens in there) and Chainer or Kaeverk(the mono black one) being rewarding for doing normal black things. The other though, is a more involved process, as Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel let's me get to have fun with something that most blue decks don't really take advantage of-

ok ok so one of the jurassic park secret lairs coming is apparently entirely Ian Malcolm themed, which means we could get official Magic the Gathering art of Jeff Goldblum being sexy with his shirt open

Heya, Jasper!
Here with a few questions:
Do you have a favorite fictional character? If so, who are they and why are they your favorite? How old were you when you started working with Azura? What drew you to her?
~Crimson
Ask Game: get to know the blogger
Hiii Crim!
Do you have a favorite fictional character? If so, who are they and why are they your favorite?
I have many favorite fictional characters but the Curse of the Jasper is that they're all side characters who usually get forgotten about or killed off. The demon family heads from New Capenna, Malcolm Lee and Breeches, Satoru Umezawa, Tetsuko Umezawa...and those are just from MTG. Add in Eola from Skyrim, Dyspo, Ganos, Caway, and Dercori from Dragon Ball, and literally every Legends of Chima and Hero Factory character by virtue of those being niche and decade-long-dead Lego themes, and you have a Jasper Niche Soup.
How old were you when you started working with Azura? What drew you to her?
My worship of Azura was actually very, very recent compared to, you know, Athena. The oldest post I have of Azura's altar is from November 2021, so somewhere around there, which means my ass was 19 years old (fake ass age I swear to the gods).
And, look...I did The Black Star quest in Skyrim with the Black Star route the first time since it's so useful that way. But then, on my second character, I did Azura's route all the way and got to talk to her. My voice kink hit me hard in the kneecaps and it was over for me. I built an altar, she moved in, and we've been hanging out ever since.
Thanks for sending these in, Crimson!
~Jasper
