good morning, friends! im exhausted and only got like four hours of sleep, but at least im (kind of) mentally prepared to revisit the episode, so (you probably know the drill by now), here’s all my commentary and thoughts and stuff from the episode! 

i feel like its important for everyone to know that i made myself an ice tea at 11:30pm because i knew i wouldnt be able to survive the episode alone 

(and dont suggest that the ice tea is the cause of the lack of sleep, if anything it’s the only reason i got to sleep) 

i was very nervous in the beginning cos i was pretty sure photjanee wouldnt be homophobic but also what if she is 

props to her for not asking tinn cos he was visibly nervous/afraid 

and gun told gim and she didnt even say anything at first. she just looked so freaking proud, then hugged him and said “whoever you love, i love” and i love her so much she’s a freaking perfect mother

"im sorry, i was just joking around with my friend, i didnt mean to insult you" yeah, okay, well thats only part of the problem. other problems are: a. the fact that you had to say such a horrible thing in order to joke around with your friend. if that's the kind of humour your friend has, that person should not be your friend, unless it's also your humour, in whcih case, that isnt a sincere apology. b. it's not just that you insulted gun. you also insulted an entire community of people, of students, of human beings, who just want to exist and live as people doing what they want to do. you cant say something homophobic and then only apologise because it hurt one person close to you. you say something homophobic, and then you apologise - in a way that you GENUINELY MEAN - and say you had no intention of hurting so many people, including gun. or, alternatively, dont say the homophobic thing in the first place. c) you’re a freaking TEACHER. a TEACHER is there to SUPPORT and CARE for ALL of their students. a TEACHER should not be saying terrible things where ANYONE could overhear. if a TEACHER cannot be supportive for ALL STUDENTS, then they should not be a teacher. (im a huge defender of teachers cos theyre human beings with lives and families and hobbies and theyre more than just the adult human that tells you 2 plus 2 is 4. but i am also a huge defender of students cos theyre human beings and also children and theyre still developing. and i am especially a defender of students and an offender of teachers when the teacher clearly hates children or isnt a good teacher or should not at all be a teacher. so this isnt me hating all teachers, i love teachers, i could talk about how unappreciated they are for hours. but i cannot stand it when a teacher behaves the way this teacher did. i hate it so freaking much.)

final thoughts / main takeaways from that episode (and therefore the whole show) 

tinngun are very cute

tiwpor havent been dating the whole time but there was definite crushing for a very long time 

pat is sad and lonely and pls let there be tiwporpat or patjorn at some point in the future

top 5 scenes from msp 🎀

i assume what you meant was "top 6 in two different categories", right? great. awesome. so!

we'll start with the more serious scenes:

this scene made me fundamentally fall in love with msp and tinn forever. no unnecessary drama, no miscommunication. just a brave boy telling the truth and being better at communicating than most adults i know.

ohhh i'm cheating! i know, i know. these scenes are giving very different vibes as well. but the way msp handled parents on both sides (especially with how different they are) is equally important to me. gun's mom being so wonderful and supportive and exactly as a mom should be, while tinn's mom apologises, admits her mistakes, and promises to do better. perfect, no notes.

i adore this scene for how simple and realistic it is. tinn and gun slowly getting to know each other, getting closer in the most mundane way possible /pos. this is what is at the core of this series, i think. real and beautiful relationships that you can imagine being in yourself.

win is gonna be stupid about them for a while, but this scene is a fundamental soundwin scene to me. and it shifted my opinion on sound so dramatically when i first watched it, i think it really shows his personality so well.

the closing scene with chinzhilla is so bittersweet and wonderful. i love friendship! and sound talking about how he fit in with everyone else so well and how the rest of the band welcomed him makes it all the more beautiful *wipes tear away*

i did a silly little umbrella drawing on this scene back when i was rewatching msp for the anniversary, because i just love it so much. tiw and tinn's friendship means the world to me, and tiw's unwavering support is so sweet. also! i got close to my very first best friend ever in grade 8 because i had a crush on a boy, and she was willing to listen to me rant about him and shipped the hell out of us. so it reminds me of that as well.

at its heart, msp is a comedy, so i absolutely must include my favourite comedic scenes as well:

any "tinn is being delusional about gun" scene is always on the borderline of funny and adorable, but i will put it here. my cringefail little guy, i love him so <3

tinn having the funniest break down on earth (+ tiw's expressions on the other end of the line) will never not be iconic.

we love a little bit of funny jealousy. and tiw's absolutely hilarious expressions, once again. tinn's acting partner literally has a girlfriend, gun, relax!

of course, shakespearean levels of jealousy is also one of those iconic, i-am-audibly-laughing scenes. i can hear that line in my mind at least three times a day.

drunk gun almost attacking jorn is both hilarious and very real. i also want to practice smacking him ngl.

this scene is genuinely everything to me. seeing what's going on in tinn's head is always fun, but this particular scene with fourth's hilarious delivery had me rolling on the floor. bye! *slides away with a blank expression*

salty prelude to this one, but: i watched my school president, found it absolutely adorable and couldn’t put it down until i finished it. then i tried our skyy 2: my school president and got about 10 min into the first one before i went ".....this is everything i hate in an AU" and stopped watching.

there's nothing that makes me back out of a fic faster than something that tries to force characters to fit other characters' dialogue/actions/whatever. i don't want to read two characters from one show reading out the script of a different movie, i want to see how those two characters would react and change if they'd been put into the situation/premise of a different movie. i think the premise of Gun as school president vs Tinn the music club head could've been a lot of fun, but i want to see Gun and Tinn in those roles, not Gun playing out Tinn's scenes and vice versa. it's such a missed opportunity and the few cute moments that were present can't sway me from my overall irritation. :/

so with that spicy take out of the way, some notes on how i'd do a msp roleswap AU:

Gun is still forced into the school president role. this is literally the universe conspiring against him. Jorn is 1000% unsympathetic to his plight and has to follow Gun any time the music club is involved because he overheard Gun lamenting he forgets the rulebook every time Tinn smiles. honestly, he deserves senior status for this nonsense. his college application is absolutely going to reference working under these unjust conditions.

music club still features Pat, Yo, and Win alongside Tinn and Tiw. Yo can keep Pat's glasses because that was funny. but Gun's friend group is Sound and Por, and Sound is still a popular guitar soloist on youtube because:

Tiw: what our club needs is new growth! we need fresh eyes! fresh ears! fresh hands! we need *points to Sound* HIM! Tinn: nO

Tiw: what?????? Tinn: we've been music rivals since elementary school, i will NOT work with the enemy

Gun and Por: *keep on smiling, maybe they won't notice* Sound, sighing to the heavens: this is why i'm a fucking soloist

you've seen Gun's ridiculous jealousy and Tinn's unhinged crush fantasies, now get ready for *drum rolls* Gun's unhinged daydreams of jealous!Tinn 🥳

Gun's regular reoccurring fantasy is Tinn being so overcome with jealousy he stakes his claim on him. no cutesy daydreams of heart equations or mv-esque beach hangouts, Gun's daydreaming about Tinn getting so annoyed and jealous about Gun's attention not being solely on him that he kicks the rest of the band out of their study group or serenades him in front of the whole school. he wants them to be the smug It couple of their school and anyone talking to Tinn is potential fodder for a daydream starring Gun draping himself over Tinn's shoulder and rubbing "we're BOYFRIENDS" in everyone's faces.

so those are a handful of things i'd change. there's still more proper plot things i'd change to maximize Gun and Tinn being ridiculous in their new roles, but whatever no one cares lol. however, for all the things i'd change, the one absolutely most essential thing i'd keep from our skyy 2 canon are the lion and chinchilla headbands. adorable, sensational, no notes, they could've just released 40min of the actors wearing those and teasing each other and i'd eat it up like a starved man at a banquet.

Our skyy2, My School President, episode 2 is an overall better episode than the first episode. P

Not a popular opinion, but I really thought out of all the specials so far, MSP is the weakest one so far (I even prefer the fluff with no substance of JoongDunk series, and I didn’t watch the original run for that!)

At least, there is less singing in the second episode (yay!) and only one song with a MV that serves a montage of GMMTV famous BL dramas including He’s coming to me, Bad Buddy and A Tale of Thousand Stars (that was clever of the directors, I will give you that!)

But I still prefers the original run 😅🫣…out of the all the actors, I thought Tinn (Gemini), his mother and Gun’s mother act most convincingly to be the opposite of their original universe…and while I love Fourth as Gun in the original universe, I didn’t like him as much here (same with Por, Sound, Win and Tiw, there are just something not quite clicking for me in the Lion 🦁 band with this universe) [MSP die hard fans, don’t hate me!!], can’t say much about Pat, Jorn or Yo (what’s up with the weird love triangle they were angling in this alternate universe??)

And yes, I am very much aware that the special episodes are meant to be fan service, but hemmm…..the 2 episodes appear to actually be more of a long ad highlighting the GMMTV MSP merchandise with a storyline that is essentially a patchwork of what the directors think the fans love from the original run (and just flipped the characters about)

Look, no judgment about the showcasing the merch 🤣 as other special also had merch attached to them, but it does seem to be a lot more with MSP)

Anyhow, I’m glad it’s over 😅…on to the next special, ABAB (I’m not sure how these will pen out? I don’t hate the original run, but it’s also not something I will rave about…)

lemme break it down without yelling 

all the ships in canon happen in this universe as well. all the characters still have their same personalities, and therefore (presumably) would still have the same feelings as they do in canon. 

and here, jorn says he plays the bad guy and pressures the music club so that theyre serious and then win hot wave and then can date. 

what this means is, in canon, pat still has his isaan accent. pat still does the little “oh” thing. jorn still plays the bad guy and pressures them a lot. 

the only differences: 1. pat has glasses, which honestly just feels like more reason for jorn to like phat (”the way his glasses frame his face and make his big round eyes look slightly larger”). 2. pat is constantly suggesting that they disband. 3. jorn seems to want the band to stop being a thing, rather than pressuring them to do better and practice harder, but that’s presumably because in the canon universe, its not really common knowledge that the band cant date until after hot wave, whereas in this universe the characters seem to know without needing to find out from an external source (which is probably for plot convenience for time’s sake, but shut up it works), so, chances are in canon jorn just isnt aware that there are other options and thinks they have to leave the band in order to date. 4. definitely other things i just cant think of them rn 

what im tryna say here is all the evidence points towards patjorn being possible in canon as well as this universe. i will break this down further in a future post but for now i need to get on with this commentary
