Whilst going through the last few boxes, I was thinking that I didn’t have as much MSD clothing as I’d thought I’d had... then I came to the trouser box. XD;;  

The top row is all cargo pants (11 pairs), brands include Mio, Volks and LUTS.  In some cases, I have the same pairs in different colours.  The second row is more formal pants on the left, and more casual trousers on the right.  (There are a couple pairs of very lovely White Rose trousers which I want to put on someone soon.)  The bottom row has suspender pants, overalls, and some random thicker pairs of trousers in wool or corduroy.  Oh, and there’s a small pile of PJ pants which is rather over-exposed since I’m just using my basic phone camera. >_>

I’m remembering/ realising as I’m going through all this clothing, that there is so much more room for detail on MSD clothing than Yo-SD!  Zippers (good luck getting one of those into your Yo-SD fly!), pockets of various types, snap fasteners, rivets, belt loops, back yokes, decorative straps and ruching are the order of the day.  Waistbands have contrasting interior bias binding, and some pairs are even fully lined.  I’m motivated to see how much more detail I can push into my Yo-SD sewing!

And Shiina spacing out on the couch.  The wavy-haired doll is my new SDM girl, of course, but her face isn’t done yet, so she just lurks at the corner of the photos...

Noel’s hat and mockneck top are by me, wig is Leekeworld and eyes are Volks HG Goldenrod B.  I can’t remember where the overshirt is from.   Shiina’s turtleneck is Mio, his shorts are from a Volks set, his shoes are the ubiquitous Taobao loafers you can find in all sizes (really decent quality, by the way).  His wig is a Kemper Nikki in mohair which I dyed and re-styled, his eyes are Volks HG Smoke Olive B. Laurie’s wig is Josephina di Venetia and her outfit is from a Japanese dealer. New-girl’s outfit is a Volks set, and her wig is Volks W-137N-SB (really nice quality, not too voluminous as some wigs can be).  Her shoes and tights are both Monique (they have lasted for over a decade in the hot and humid Singapore weather, when far more expensive shoes have literally gone to bits).

First photostory in a loooong while

So I finally got fed up with how dirty Shiina is. XD  In the first years that I had him and Micchi, I use to clean and re-coat them with Mr. Super Clear every half-year or so.  That got to be too much work once I started amassing more dolls, and then of course I dropped out of the hobby completely due to lack of time... 

Anyways, Shiina’s coating is now chipped in many places, and there is a noticeable colour difference between the bare resin and the yellower, dust-smudged coating.  ._.  (sorry, kiddo)  The coating on his face is especially yellow, since it’s several layers deep, and there are chips on his cheek and upper lip.  I can’t stand how ugly it looks any more, so I decided it was time for a grand wipe-down and bath...

“Oh, Shiina?....”

Shiina: “?”

Shiina: “Wait, this is about my chocolates, isn’t it?... DX You can’t have them!  I just opened this box!! D=“

“^_^;; No, it’s not.  (Those chocolates are far too tiny to satisfy me, anyway. XD)   Well, you know, it’s been a long time since you all had any maintenance done, and since you’re both the oldest and the dirtiest of the crew...”

Everyone: “....”

“...I’m afraid you’re gonna have to set a good example for the others and be the first to take the plunge.”

*silence*

Shiina: *bolts*

Micchi: “XDDD ...GET HIM! =DDD”

Tatsue: *flustered since he doesn’t know if he should be helping Shiina, or if this “maintenance” is actually a good thing...* 

Micchi: "Target apprehended! ^___^” 

“Thanks, Micchi.  Hmm... you do know that, after Shiina, you’re next?”

So, apparently I used to make MSD jewellry...!?  Found this while digging through ancient folders of photos.  I don’t even remember how to make this stuff anymore... XD;;;

Edit: Love the flat MSD chest and little collarbones. ^-^

Credits: Micchi (left) is a slightly modified Volks FCS MSD F-10. Noel (right) is a modified Volks MSD Enn. Wigs and eyes - all Volks. I can’t remember where their stuff is from except that Noel’s jeans are Volks, Micchi’s shirt is from 5deng, and his hat is made by me. His bracelet is from a talented DoA member whose name I can’t recall… D: If you ever read this, thank you again! It suits him perfectly and he still loves it over a decade on. :D

Noel

Name: Noel Zhang

Sculpt: Volks MSD Enn (oldskin), heavily sanded, on pureskin body

Arrived: July 2005

Provenance: Blank head obtained on Yahoo! Japan Auctions

Noel transfers to the school in order to join its well-known boys’ football (soccer) team, and quickly earns a place as a regular member.   Although self-assured and well-liked, Noel can’t completely let his guard down around his schoolmates, because…. “he” is actually a girl. XD   She blends in well with boys because she grew up playing football and hanging out with her brothers and kids from the neighbourhood.   Confident in her skill and also crazy about football in general, Noel was adamant about wanting to join the team even if she had to masquerade as a boy to do it.  Her father indulged her as he’s always done, since she’s the only girl in the family ^^;, and while her mother was initially against the charade, she eventually agreed since it seemed fairly harmless (for now, at least).  

My thoughts: I had looked at the Enn sculpt on and off since its first release, considering if it fit my crew, but it never felt quite right. Then I spotted a blank, already modified head on Y!JA. I guess it "called" to me and also I figured I had nothing to lose. XD; I'm so glad she turned out well!   Noel is the “coolest” of my crew, to my mind… which is strange, since she’s a she, no?   I actually did her face-up myself (I’m still amazed I managed that), and Djinn kindly and expertly painted her eyelid crease and eyeliner.  Although I did try to make her face-up boyish-looking, she is also very fetching in girls’ clothes - I’ll have to dig up some old pictures…
