I really wanted a project to test my skills, and I chose to do it with the HGUC Zudah. I did extensive seam line removal, removed mold lines, filled in some holes I didn't like with putty, and scribed out some of the shallower seam lines and details. I definitely need to upgrade my equipment on that front. I also didn't like the way that the rifle's scope was deeply recessed, so I used a length of sprue to extend it. I'm pleased with the results.
I used the weapons and parts of the body as a chance to practice quickly switching between colors in my airbrush. I also hand painted a lot of the details. After a couple months mainly doing mini painting, it felt like I had multi-classed or something. I painted the mono-eye and scope lenses with fluorescent enamel paint over a layer of white. It looks super cool in person and I will definitely use that technique again in the future.
The weathering was done starting with a layer of silver drybrushing. Then I used a Tamiya weathering pallet to create some contrast on the larger areas. I then finished with sponging on black. I had tried sponging before, but the sponge I used was way to big. Much happier with the result this time.
I am so so happy with how this kit turned out. It was a lot of work but it's great to see what I can do when I go all in.

EMS-10 ZUDAH
I managed to get my hands on a HG Zudah kit, a delight to build with complex and robust arms and legs, I did decide to omit the front bar on the face because I prefer the more open look.

Day 289: GM Camouf (MS Igloo 603)
I was telling my friends about GMs today, and we got to talking about the GMs that Zeon used. The GM camouf is my favorite! A Zeon machine (that reminds me a little too much of the Zudah) that is designed to look like a Federation GM. It worked so well that it got blown up by Zaku’s upon returning from it’s mission. And it got to keep it’s sick monoeye! Good GM, this one!

MS IGLOO 2: Gravity Front is so absurd that I couldn’t NOT enjoy it
There is a literal angel of death (and she’s a manipulative girlboss)
Half of the machines are just about possessed
Even more characters die than in Zeta
It gives us faces like these
It has a new model Guntank that fucks expeditiously
It is never talked about but it’s sososo funny to me
I cannot recommend it. I also cannot recommend it enough
#this i say#mobile suit gundam#MS IGLOO 2: Gravity Front#MS IGLOO#I’m gonna consider it noncanon to the U.C. because like. yeah but y’know

FAQs
–When will this blog be active? The One Year War began on January 3rd, UC 0079, so you can expect things to kick off in the new year!
-What is the One Year War? The One Year War is the conflict that takes place throughout the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, its compilation movies, and numerous spinoff material (see below).
-Is this blog covering just the original Gundam? Nope! The events of the original story begin many months into the war, and there is a wealth of backstory that has been filled in over the years since the debut of the original anime.
-Are the anime and movies the same? The movie trilogy condenses the plot of the anime, keeping the structure and most important story beats. However, the trilogy also makes some changes to the order of certain events and the inclusion of certain things.
-So does this blog follow the anime or the movies? Other Gundam media released after the movies tends to treat the trilogy as canon – the inclusion of Guncannon C-108 in Zeta or the Core Boosters in Char's Counterattack and Unicorn, for example. Likewise, this blog follows the movie version of events.
-What other media is covered by this blog? Aside from the movie trilogy, this blog also includes the events of the side stories 0080: War in the Pocket and The 08th MS Team, while also touching on key events covered in MS IGLOO and various manga and video games. The movies and OVAs have the most detailed information documented about them, so they are featured here more often than games and manga as a result.
-What about Gundam Origin? Gundam: The Origin and its OVA adaptation are set in their own similar, but distinct canon. While the Origin OVAs are broadly compatible with the original series and movies, exact details differ between the story told in The Origin and other backstory material for Mobile Suit Gundam. Events as detailed in The Origin are not covered by this blog.
-What are this blog's sources? This blog is curated from information found on Mecha and Anime HQ and the Gundam Wiki. Where contradictions arise, this blog adheres to either the most logical version of events or the better-documented version, on a case-by-case basis. I cannot read or understand spoken Japanese, so I am unable to conduct firsthand research.
-Will this blog cover other Gundam conflicts? If the One Year War coverage is well received, absolutely! The next set of events this blog would cover would likely be the Delaz Fleet Conflict, covered in 0083: Stardust Memory, for reasons mentioned above.
-What about my favourite Gundam anime, Wing/Seed/etc? This blog will only ever cover events from the main Universal Century timeline. If you prefer another timeline, like Cosmic Era, Anno Domini, etc, you are more than welcome to make a blog of your own!

I firmly believe we need more shows representing "low level personel having to deal with ailing, progressively more disconnected from reality management" subgenre of fiction.
Feel free to suggest examples if you have any.

Sure, why not. Some of my general thoughts on some Gundam works I like (part 1 of Ɐ basically)
Something I often find annoying in some modern Gundam stories is the concerted effort to either absolve one side or another of their various atrocities, or to pile on with war crime after war crime to make it clear either who the real bad guys are, or to balance the scales for the audience. Anyone with some pretty basic media literacy can figure out that the Federation and Zeon are both pretty awful, but perhaps the idea that even the elderly man who wanted his society to be better choosing to exploit children as weapons didn’t make it clear how deep the rot really was. You don’t need to add really overt uses of child soldiers in Thunderbolt to accentuate how garbage the Federation is, especially not if it comes at the cost of trying to humanize the ruthless sociopath that is Io Fleming.
Anyway, this post is about something of an exception to my general attitude in the case of MS Igloo, a 6 episode OVA using poorly aged CGI that was made specifically for IMAX screens. As a small note, the 3 episode sequel will not be showing up in future posts about things I like.
MS Igloo tells the story of the 603rd Technical Division through the eyes of Oliver May, an engineer who believes his work holds the key to Zeon’s victory of the oppressive Federation forces. The story, framed entirely from Oliver’s perspective and attitudes, shows Zeon struggling to find something that could have the chance of turning the tide. The first episode features the 603rd getting an already abandoned weapon dumped on them, and that will end up being the case for the entire first half of the series. From the big useless space gun to the horrifically flawed Zudah mobile suit, the team is used by their superiors for propaganda at best and as a dumping ground for wasted resources at worst, leading up to the eventual introduction of Zeon’s ultimate desperation weapon: the Oggo, an armed space construction machine intended to be piloted by children. In spite of seeing his superiors send him doomed projects and war crimes for him to legitimize through his “research,” Oliver ends the series still completely enthralled by the illusion of Zeon that he was fed from before the day he even joined the military. This results in MS Igloo having a vibe not unlike “Triumph of the Will,” where while watching it, you can feel the mechanisms that would convince those of the era to support the atrocities of the Third Reich while the knowledge of history creates a sickening twist inside you. We watch someone so completely indoctrinated that even his superiors telling him TO HIS FACE that the Zabi Regime is full of shit does nothing to change his attitude. The exploitation of children and the death of his comrade’s younger brother under his command do nothing to make him step back. When it’s all said and done, Oliver is too far gone. MS Igloo is a tragedy wrapped in the coat of a triumph.
The most unfortunate thing about MS Igloo to me, however, is that I can’t tell if that was on purpose. MS Igloo has an aesthetic that feels reminiscent of 0083, a series that felt at times a bit too... reverential of its WWII inspirations. Most of the 603rd’s projects have Germanic names, and the outfits go pretty Hugo Boss if you catch my meaning. This makes sense due to them having the same director, Takashi Imanishi. I’m left conflicted on the works he’s created in the Universal Century due to the aesthetic choices that keep showing up, but I am drawn to a few of the projects he has worked on over the years. I am therefore left wondering if my internal conflicted feelings are perhaps the point after all.

I still think Narrative naming their knockoff of Monique Cadillac as "Erika Yugo" is hilarious, and it's a crime they're trying to stick to Hugo as the romanization

its called Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO because Igloo a military term for a ammunition depot. which, i guess, you can extrapolate into them being a depot of experimental weapons or something.
either way, the logo looks cool

Day 226: EMs-10 Zudah (Mobile Suit Gundam Igloo)
I had never heard of MS Igloo before, but I found a video essay explaining it on YouTube. I love the Zudah! It’s such a cool looking mobile suit, and I feel bad that it can’t help but explode upon overuse. Poor thing deserves better! I’m gonna see if I can get my hands on a Gunpla of it!

Action roguelike with a special speedrun mode where your character's speed is uncapped, but if your velocity goes above a specific threshold (which is considerably higher than the normal speed cap) you explode and die.
