I get kind of annoyed when I see praise for Adam and Lute’s relationship and how it gives Adam “more depth” when Adam still feels boring Lute feels like a plot device.
Why does Lute, Ms. “Angels are perfect and don’t do anything wrong and doesn’t like gay people because they’re blasphemous” LIKE Adam? It’s like such a weird thing Vivziepop struggles with. It reminds me of how Millie is like Blitzo’s best friend when the guy is an asshole and a raging misogynist, but at least Millie has an excuse of being a demon in hell. It’s not even like Adam’s misogyny is subtle or said in a way that’s “rational”. He’s just like “women are beneath me and I love cum and sex” and Lute is his best friend and fans (and even critics???) praise it. It’s bizarre.
It really is. She's like the Kif to his Zapp Brannigan if Kif was a woman, agreed with everything Zapp said unquestioningly, and wasn't funny.

Looking Forward to the SRF Carolina International & H. T.: Stacked 4*S Entry List Promises Full Slate of Action
Tumblr media
Pfun, a veteran campaigner for Faudree, may take second in the 4*S at Carolina in 2023. Tilly Berendt’s image.
The 2024 Makers ‘ Run Farm Carolina International, which will take place at the Carolina Horse Park on March 14- 17, is sure to be an interesting year for the 37 horses and horse groups that are now competing in the CCI4*- S.
The Pan American Games group, which includes Sydney Elliott and QC Diamantaire, Liz Halliday and Miks Master C, Sharon White and Claus 63, and Caroline Pamukcu and HSH Blake, will all start powerful. Therefore, Caroline and HSH Blake will be a match to watch out for as they take the gold at the Pan Ams with a final tally of 30.8 %.
With four rides in the 4*, Liz will undoubtedly have a full plate: Cooley Moonshine ( owned by Ocala Horse Properties ), Cooley Quicksilver ( owned by the Monster Partnership and Ocala Horse Properties ), Cooley Nutcracker ( owned by the Nutcracker Syndicate and Ocala Horse Properties ), and of course Miks Master C ( owned by Ocala Horse Properties and Debbie Palmer ). Liz and her animals will always be the ones to keep your eye on, as often.
For the 4*, Andrew McConnon, who won this year’s Elizabeth Broussard International Developing Rider Grant, will be bringing two bolts: Ferrie’s Cello and Wakita 54.
Lauren Nicholson and Ms. Mars ‘ Landmark’s Jungle’s Golden as well as Will Coleman and Diabolo, owned by the Diabolo Group, are another comments that are likely to be competitive. Two pretty exciting horses, Possante and Quasi Cool, both coming off of Grand- Prix Eventing, may also engage for Phillip Dutton.
FE Lifestyle, which Jennie Brannigan rode, was originally bred to be a present sweater, but now finds success in eventing under Jennie’s guidance. Last year,” Foxy” placed 12th at Burghley, leading Jennie to take home the highest-placed Burghley first-timer. During this contest, this piece will be challenging to keep up with!
High Tide and Rachel Lawson will be another piece to watch out for because they have successfully navigated some ups and downs to this point. Their origin story makes them a pair you ca n’t miss because they are Rachel’s first OTTB.
Fernhill Zoro joins US equine U25 Emerging Athletes Cassie Sanger. She’ll also be taking part in the USEF Futures Challenge, and you can find out more about that thrilling race that’s taking place alongside the 4*S around.
Corture, ridden by Briggs Surratt, will be a small but powerful some to watch out for. Elisa Wallace’s Holsteiner combination horse has only 14.2 hands!
View this passage record in its entirety. This will not be an event you want to miss, as we’re getting our Olympic year underway, regardless of whether you’ll be watching in person or from home ( click here to access the live stream on Horse &amp, Country ).
youtube
Eventing Nation is pleased to have Carolina International on the hit team. Click here to fill out the token request form if you want to attend this year’s function as a member of the internet.

Have you ever had so much coffee that your body feels like its humming? That's what it is like for me this morning. I just need to be able to wake up.
Tumblr media
Author’s commentary:
I am still doing the wordcrawl to finish Caven. I think I need about 100 words, and then, I will put it away for two weeks before I write my second draft.
I'm excited to finish this. While it seems silly, I will say that I haven't finished anything really original since my doctor had insisted that I make changes in my life to lessen the stress I felt.
Nothing really inspired the closing chapter of Caven. I originally had a closing idea for the final act, but I feel like this makes sense. I like to think that Ellen took over and wanted this ending for her story.
Will I write about Ellen Brannigan in the future? Most likely, no. She is the type of character that is one and done with. She is the protagonist of Caven, and that will most likely be it. The reason? Thrillers are outside of my genre. While it was fun writing, I am a dark fantasy writer through and through.
Tumblr media
Snippet: (tw: mentions of death.)
As always, this is my trash draft. There will be grammar issues and sometimes incorrect grammar. It is unpolished.
As she looked to the left, a dirt path broke off of the main path through the forest, traveled down the embankment to the river. A crop of trees rested on top of a rolling hill looking down upon the stream.
She couldn’t help but think that Donagh and Maureen themselves were showing her the location to his corpse. Ellen never really believed in the supernatural before, but she was willing to believe anything if it meant finding her son. She only wanted to bring him home, to give her girlfriend back their child, and perhaps, she would pay for her crime.
Crime? She thought she shouldn’t feel sorry for Maeve. There were many children who most likely tried to escape the woman: her son, his friend, and even her wife. Did their killer deserve compassion? Did their murder deserve to be remembered for the person she was rather than the murderer she had become?
It was easy for the scales to tip. Ellen had thrown up after she drew her knife across Maeve’s neck, but she still ended a life of someone else. Guilt colored her heart. Ellen tried to tell herself that it was her conscious trying to understand what she had done.
That was what separated her and Maeve. Ms. Flanigan destroyed lives and would continue to provide trauma for the families. She was a force that nature unleashed upon the world. Ellen was like that terrible execution who had a change of heart. She should have called Shannon and told him what had happen — or at least tell him where he would find her and her son’s corpse, but she couldn’t bring herself to have a stranger find Donagh.

Here are two Ethan/Charley WIPs. Enjoy.
Charley looked over the chart that Marlene handed her before approaching the patient sitting in the bed. The woman had her phone in her hand and a tablet on her lap, looking at both of them.
“Hello, Ms. Brannigan? I’m Dr. Valentine. What seems to be the problem?”
The woman in the bed looked up with a frown. “I’ve already told the nurses. Can’t you read the chart? I have work I need to get to.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Ethan shook his head. “I don’t trust Bloom. You have to finish your residency. Once you're done with that, we’ll be better able to
”
Charley stood up and walked to the door, her back to him. She didn’t want him to see the tears ready to fall. “I can’t have this conversation now. I’m sorry.”
For the next three weeks they had avoided each other the best they could at the hospital.
Now she was alone, two days before Christmas. Although her leave had been approved, Charley told the hospital she would be happy to work over the holidays. This resulted in her being called into Leland Bloom’s office. He informed her that when HR requested leave schedules and approved them, he did not want to make changes. She would need to be more careful about requesting leave in the future.

Restaurants Fought for Covid Survival, With Some Tech Helpers The past year has crushed independent restaurants across the country and brought a reality to their doors: Many were unprepared for a digital world. Unlike other small retailers, restaurateurs could keep the tech low, with basic websites and maybe Instagram accounts with tantalizing, well-lit photos of their food. For the past decade, Krystle Mobayeni had been trying to convince them that they needed more. Ms. Mobayeni, a first-generation Iranian-American, started her company, BentoBox, in 2013 as a side job. She wanted to use her graphic design skills to help restaurants build more robust websites with e-commerce abilities. But it was a hard sell. For many, she said, her services were a “nice to have,” not a necessity. Until 2020. The pandemic sent chefs and owners flocking to BentoBox, as they suddenly needed to add to-go ordering, delivery scheduling, gift card sales and more to their websites. Before the pandemic the company, based in New York City, had about 4,800 clients, including the high-profile Manhattan restaurant Gramercy Tavern; today it has more than 7,000 restaurants onboard and recently received a $28.8 million investment led by Goldman Sachs. “I feel like our company was built for this moment,” Ms. Mobayeni said. The moment opened a well of opportunity for companies like BentoBox that are determined to help restaurants survive. Dozens of companies have either started or scaled up sharply as they found their services in urgent demand. Meanwhile, investors and venture capitalists have been sourcing deals in the “restaurant tech” sector — particularly seeking companies that bring the big chains’ advantages to independent restaurants. “A lot of what’s happening is reminiscent of what we’ve seen in the broader retail sector in the past decade,” said R.J. Hottovy, a restaurant industry analyst and an investor at Aaron Allen & Associates. “Covid accelerated the transformation quite a bit. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to redefine the experience.” Part of what Ms. Mobayeni offers restaurants is a one-stop shop and the ability to own their customer data. Many restaurants rely on third-party vendors, such as DoorDash or UberEats, to handle delivery. But those companies charge significant fees and retain customers’ data because the transactions go through their websites. That’s not such a big deal when delivery is 20 percent of a restaurant’s income stream, but it’s a game-changer when delivery becomes 100 percent of income — and you can’t contact any of your customers. “Restaurants realized they had to think of themselves as larger businesses and brands,” said Camilla Marcus, co-founder of TechTable, which connects the hospitality and tech industries. “You have to expand into other things: e-commerce, delivery, products. You have to think outside the four walls.” Helping restaurants deepen relationships with customers is where Sam Bernstein saw an opportunity. Before the pandemic he ran a tech start-up that connected students to housing, similar to Airbnb; when universities sent students home last spring, his revenue fell to zero. He went to his board of directors and offered to return what investment was left and close down. Instead the board suggested he regroup with a smaller team and new vision. “It was an existential crisis, as you can imagine,” he said. Mr. Bernstein laid off all but 10 employees and took them for a brainstorming retreat. They considered dozens of business models, looking for the right problem to solve. The more they discussed options, the more the members of the team realized they were all interested in food and hospitality and wanted to help restaurants. They hit upon the idea for a site that would allow customers to “subscribe” to their favorite restaurants. The new firm, Table22, would help chefs develop and market subscriptions for monthly meal kits and wine clubs, for example, and then manage the sales, recurring billing, scheduling, data analytics and more. In exchange, Table22 takes a percentage of each transaction. Table22, which is based in New York, went live with its first restaurant in May. Since then, it has grown to more than 150 restaurants in 50 cities. Late last year, the company received about $7 million from investors, who include David Barber, owner of Blue Hill farm and restaurants. Shelby Allison signed up her Chicago bar, Lost Lake, for the service on a cold email from Table22. She was hesitant at first, planning to listen just long enough to learn how to create a cocktail subscription service herself. “We get lots and lots of calls from these tech companies trying to help — or prey upon — us struggling businesses,” she said. Today in Business Updated  April 16, 2021, 1:30 p.m. ET But she was impressed by the low service fee and the fact that Table22 shared customer data. She started the service in October, hoping for 30 sign-ups; 100 people joined. Ms. Allison now has 300 subscribers and five employees working on the make-at-home cocktail boxes. “This will 100 percent stay in the future,” she said. “I love this program. I thought it might cannibalize my to-go business, but it hasn’t at all.” Ping Ho considered signing up with Table22 to host the wine and meat clubs she offers at her Detroit restaurant and butcher shop, Marrow, and wine bar, the Royce. She decided against it, however, because her existing subscription platform, Zoho, gave her the essential tools. “It’s a bit more work, but there’s more agency,” she said. But because her website was mostly informational, she realized she did need help offering online ordering and a delivery system for the butcher shop. So Ms. Ho turned to Mercato, which enables e-commerce for independent grocers. In a bit of fortuitous timing, she had signed up a month before the pandemic struck. When stay-at-home orders were issued, she was able to quickly begin offering grocery items, such as milk and eggs, in addition to meats. Her sales jumped “tremendously” she said, although they have flattened out in recent months. Still, Ms. Ho intends to maintain the service. Mercato began in 2015, but 2020 was its year. In February 2020, the service had 400 stores across 20 states; it quickly ramped up to more than 1,000 stores in 45 states. It continues to grow and has added some big-name clients, including the Ferry Building Marketplace on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, with dozens of merchants. “We’re trying to give independent grocers a sustainable competitive advantage,” said Bobby Brannigan, founder and chief executive of the company, which is based in San Diego. It’s a mission that he has been training for all his life. Mr. Brannigan’s family owns a grocery store in the Dyker Heights area of Brooklyn, where he started working when he was 8, stocking shelves and delivering groceries. “It’s ironic that I’m back to doing what I was doing as a kid in Brooklyn,” he said. Last March and April, Mercato brought on hundreds of new grocers each week — clients that weren’t used to having online orders or weren’t used to the sudden volume of orders. Some stores that were accustomed to 10 orders in a day were flooded with hundreds, Mr. Brannigan said. Thankfully, his dad already had him build tools into the system that would allow grocers to limit the pace of orders and schedule them. Mr. Brannigan is also adding more data analytics to help his clients better understand what their customers want. They can now see what was bought and what customers searched for. “You’re amassing a valuable treasure chest of data that lets you sell the products they want today and that they want tomorrow,” he said. Of course, not all solutions are tech-centric; sometimes, it’s just a grass-roots community of chefs helping chefs. Alison Cayne, for example, has been giving free advice to chefs looking to create packaged goods, like her line of Haven’s Kitchen sauces. Having that extra revenue stream was critical when she shuttered her Manhattan restaurant and cooking school last spring, and she wants others to have the same options. “This is all very much from my perspective, not the supercapitalized, venture capital-backed, cool-kids business,” she said. “I just want to help them take a brick-and-mortar business and develop a product and build a brand that makes sense and is sustainable.” In Detroit, the grocer Raphael Wright and the chefs Ederique Goudia and Jermond Booze developed a “diabolical plan,” as Mr. Wright called it, to offer a weekly meal kit cooked by Black chefs during Black History Month. “Black food businesses are hurting in the city, so we thought, what if we created this meal box in a way that celebrates Black food and Black contributions to American cuisine?” Mr. Wright said. They named the project Taste the Diaspora Detroit and brought together Black chefs and farmers to create the weekly dishes — like gumbo z’herbes and black-eyed pea masala. The three organized all of the e-commerce and scheduling, which allowed chefs to participate even if they weren’t tech-savvy, and created the packaging and inserts that told the history of the meal. They topped it off with a paired Spotify playlist. “Being a part of this project woke everyone up and made them think they have a little hope they can push through,” Mr. Wright said. They hope to reprise the service for Juneteenth and are currently talking to funders to support the effort. Source link Orbem News #Covid #Fought #Helpers #Restaurants #Survival #Tech

OK so the Captain Underpants Movie re-inspired me. Back when I was a little kid reading these books, I had two ocs, girls Harold and George's age who got mixed up into all the super-shenanigans. They were called the "Bragade," a pun off the fact they both wore bras. Originally they were Ms. Ribble's henchgirls, but went hero fairly quickly. I've been thinking of turning this into an original series, where the "Bragade" (AKA Claire Brannigan) is a tweenage girl who gains super-strength at puberty and battles health-themed supervillains and monsters (acne, periods, etc.) Alongside her super smart Best Friend/Sidekick/eventual love interest Tianna, her twin brother Matthew, and her mentor, the school nurse.

Semi-Formal 2K17: The Last Rose of Summer
By: Melody Samaroo (Grade 10 Student Rep)
School dances are a highlight for many high school students. The excitement of going out at night with friends, dressing up and dancing into the night without parents around gives students the feeling of responsibility and independence. Stephen leacock held their annual semi formal on Thursday November 16th at the Markham Convention Center, called “The Last Rose of Summer”.
Tumblr media
Many students wanted a night that they would remember and Stephen Leacock’s student council worked extremely hard to make the night happen. We had Leacock’s very own Daniel Singh, DNA SOUND, DJ the night. He started and ended the night with the same amount of energy as he hyped up the crowd all night long.
Semi was a success with the help of student council’s teacher advisor Mr.Coram supporting our ideas and helping us make “The Last Rose of Summer” a reality. On the behalf of student council we would like to thank Ms. J Thomas, Mr. Geist, Ms. Collura, Ms. Creary, Mr. Mazumder, Ms. Brannigan, Ms. Khadem, and of course the admin team Ms. Joueid, Mr. Gotfryd, and Ms. Hamel who came out to support the night and burn up the dancefloor.
Tumblr media
For those who would like to be a part of other events hosted by student council, listen to the announcements for upcoming events. For those who attended semi we would love to hear feedback and take suggestions for future events. Here's to more exciting events to come in 2018! We wish you all a safe and happy winter break!

Danielle McLaughlin was found in a pool of blood on Tuesday morning after she had attended Holi celebrations at Palolem beach. He told The Guardian, that Danielle shrugged off the instructions and revealed she had met one of them a year earlier and that he was going to help her find accommodation at the beach. Later, at about 9pm, Mr Woodruff and two other friends asked if she wanted to go swimming. 'She said, "Yeah, give me two minutes. I just need to talk to my friends", refer
