#OnThisDay October 2, 2000
Principal photography, which is the phase that involves actively shooting the scenes in the script, begins for Aaliyah’s 2nd and final film; Queen Of The Damned.
Filming started October 2, 2000 and wrapped up February 27, 2001 in a former biscuit factory, converted into a studio in the Melbourne suburb of St. Albans.
Australian, Michael Rymer, was confirmed to direct the film. Rymer suggested the film be shot in his home city of Melbourne, which would save considerably on production costs. The first actor cast was R&B singer Aaliyah as Queen Akasha, the eponymous Queen of the Damned. The search for an actor to play Lestat took much longer—the idea of Tom Cruise reprising the role was considered but dismissed—although front runners included Wes Bentley, Josh Hartnett and Heath Ledger. Irish actor Stuart Townsend assumed the role in 2000.
Location filming took place around the city of Melbourne, although some filming was done in Los Angeles.
Queen of the Damned was released on February 22, 2002 in the United States and Canada.

Because I love Scarlett in classic and period films, I chose Mary Boleyn as my muse for a new digital painting. I really had fun making this one, and I'm much more happy how it turned out!

Thinking about how Queen Akasha murdered her devout husband of 3000 years for some young punk violinist-rocker she didn't even MEET yet. She goes off to have a one night stand with him - all for him to tag team up with his new friends and kill her the next night, then run off into the night (hand in hand) with the Librarian.
Just goes to show, you can be an Egyptian QUEEN with your own KING by your side - one weak moment of lust and greed can ruin everything!

The Linguini Incident (1991) // Richard Shepard
An offbeat delight. A little romantic heist story with David Bowie and Rossana Arquette, told in a limited (yet dazzlingly campy) set of locations. All characters have faults and each one of them are annoying. Yet, their interactions are charming and fun to watch.
Recommended for those who love forgotten gems.
