Na manhã após minha chegada, caminhei até a praia mais próxima e fui saudada por um grupo de pessoas aproveitando para nadar um pouco antes de começar seu dia. Estava ventando e a água estava agitada, por isso não entrei no mar. Medrosa… Dois dias mais tarde, voltei àquela mesma praia e a água estava ainda mais agitada, mas eu estava determinada a nadar.

Enquanto observava a água, refleti sobre os discípulos, com seus barcos de pesca sendo jogados de um lado para o outro pelas ondas do mar , e Jesus, que “despertando, repreendeu o vento e disse ao mar: ‘Acalme-se! Fique quieto!’ O vento se aquietou, e tudo ficou bem calmo” (Marcos 4:39). Depois, refleti na ocasião em que Jesus disse aos discípulos que, com fé, eles poderiam mover montanhas (Mateus 17:20).

Fiquei me perguntando se eu tinha coragem de pedir a Deus que acalmasse a água para que pudesse ser mais fácil para eu nadar. Fiquei em pé na praia enquanto as ondas se quebravam uma atrás da outra. Será que eu teria coragem de pedir a Deus que acalmasse as águas? Soube que o oceano estava agitado já fazia duas semanas. Percebi que eu estava com medo de dizer: “Deus, acalma as águas!” Eu estava com medo das consequências. Se a água continuasse agitada, isso significaria que eu não tinha fé? Se ela se acalmasse, como eu deveria interpretar esse fato?

Descobri que, embora acreditasse em Deus, no íntimo eu estava com medo de que a promessa de Jeremias 29:11 não se aplicasse a mim, mas a outras pessoas mais espirituais do que eu. Talvez as promessas de Deus não se apliquem porque eu não sou boa o suficiente; contudo, em momentos mais racionais, percebo que esse é um modo tolo de pensar, pois Deus afirmou que todas as pessoas são importantes para Ele, e Ele permitiu que Seu Filho morresse por nós. Ninguém está excluído. Não deveríamos duvidar de Deus.
