So I was going to try to make a video today for the cosplay stuff but maintenance is here so that will probably not happen.
I am working up a chart to see how expensive the cosplay will be so I can set goals of what I need to earn though!
Biggest thing though is if I put motorcycle armor into the cosplay I may only be able to do a female Lloyd. I'm just looking at men's armor and it will not fit safely or comfortably because I am a woman with boobs 😅

I need new motorcycle armor!
I have a favorite motorcycle jacket, a Harley Davidson “Switchback” that is now ten years old. When I put it on to ride Howard’s Twisted Tongue, I noticed the elbow armor was broken into several pieces.

Understanding Impact Protection: How Motorcycle Armor Works
Tumblr media
Use this comprehensive guide to know all about motorcycle gear armour for different riding needs.
When it comes to motorcycle gear, the importance of armor can't be overstated. Whether you're a seasoned rider or new to the road, proper impact protection can make the difference between walking away from a fall and sustaining serious injuries. But how does motorcycle armor actually work, and what should you look for to ensure you're protected? This guide breaks down the key features and certifications you need to know to find the best armor for your riding needs.
How Motorcycle Armor Works
The primary function of motorcycle armor is to absorb and disperse the force of an impact, reducing the amount of energy that reaches your body in case of a fall or collision. When you fall or get into an accident, armor acts as a barrier between your body and the ground or other hard surfaces. Its material composition and design play a crucial role in distributing impact forces over a larger area, preventing injuries to critical parts of your body such as elbows, knees, shoulders, back, and chest. Therefore, all riding gear should have armour protection.
High-quality armor is made from advanced materials like high-density foam, viscoelastic polymers, or Kevlar. These materials can harden upon impact, offering flexibility during normal wear and protection when needed most.
Standard Certifications to Look For
When selecting motorcycle gear, especially armor, its essential to ensure that the armor meets standard safety certifications. Across the world, there are standard armour certifications that are tried and tested. Here are the key certifications to look for:
CE (Conformité Européenne) Certification The most widely recognized certification for motorcycle armor is CE. Expect to find most brands using CE certified products in India as well. CE-approved armor meets stringent European safety standards and is tested for impact absorption, abrasion resistance, and durability. CE certification is categorized into two levels:
Level 1: Offers basic protection with a maximum transmitted force of 35 kN (kilonewtons). Level 1 armor is generally thinner and more flexible, making it a good choice for riders who prioritize comfort but still want some impact protection.
Level 2: Provides the safest armor with a maximum transmitted force of 20 kN. This is the best armor for bikers who prioritize safety over flexibility, offering higher levels of protection in critical areas.
EN 1621-1 and EN 1621-2 Standards EN 1621-1 and EN 1621-2 are European standards for specific areas of protection:
EN 1621-1: Focuses on limb protection (e.g., knees, elbows, shoulders).
EN 1621-2: Covers back protectors, which are critical for preventing spinal injuries in crashes.
Look for these standards when shopping for jackets, pants, or individual armor inserts for riding gears and accessories.
EN 1621-3 Standard This certification applies to chest protectors, which are designed to shield your rib cage and organs. For riders who want comprehensive protection, this is a must-have feature, especially for those doing long-distance or adventure riding.
Types of Motorcycle Armor
Armor comes in various types depending on the area of protection it offers. Here's a breakdown of what you should consider adding to your motorcycle gear:
Back Protectors: Protect your spine and prevent serious injury in case of a fall. Many jackets come with built-in back protectors, or you can purchase them separately.
Elbow and Shoulder Armor: Key impact points during a crash, these areas benefit from reinforced protection. Reise Moto offers gear that features CE-approved elbow and shoulder armor, providing both flexibility and durability.
Knee and Hip Armor: Especially useful for riders who engage in long-distance rides or off-roading, this armor protects your lower extremities from high-impact crashes.
Chest Protectors: While not always included in standard gear, chest protectors are crucial for high-speed riding, offering protection to your ribs and internal organs.
Why Armor is a Must-Have for Bikers
Wearing the right motorcycle gear with armor can significantly reduce the risk of injury in a crash. According to studies, riders wearing CE-approved armor are 20% less likely to sustain serious injuries than those without it. Investing in high-quality riding gear and accessories from trusted brands like Reise Moto ensures that you're fully prepared for the unexpected.
Choosing the Right Armor for Your Needs
When selecting the best armor, it's important to consider your riding style and the terrain you'll be tackling. For city commuters, flexible and comfortable Level 1 armor may be ideal. For riders who often engage in high-speed or off-road adventures, Level 2 armor offers a greater degree of protection without sacrificing too much comfort.
Pay attention to the fit as well. Armor should sit snugly against your body to remain effective but shouldn't restrict your range of motion.
Motorcycle armor is one of the most critical components of your riding gear. From protecting vital areas to reducing the risk of serious injury, investing in CE-certified armor is a must for every rider. Reise Moto offers a wide range of motorcycle gear and accessories with built-in armor that meets the highest safety standards, ensuring you can ride with confidence. Visit www.reisemoto.com to find the best riding gear for Indian roads. Reise Moto lists the best of European and Indian brands like Acerbis, Spidi, Viaterra, Tucano Urbano and Reise’s own brand that have the best possible features for riders. Stay safe and gear up with the safest armor from Reise Moto to enjoy the ride without worry.

Bilt Iron Works Kevlar Motorcycle Riding Pants
I reviewed an earlier version of the Bilt Iron Workers Kevlar motorcycle pants way back in 2013. The older version received a 4-star rating, but these pants have been improved over the years.
