Y’know what, I’ll say it. Bat to hornets nest time.

I am sick and tired of the amount of fucking coddling we have to do as trans people when talking about bigotry. Every single post I see about Rowling is always “ohhh it’s okay if you still like the books, just don’t give her money unless you really really want to, it’s okay, you’re not a bad person.” and I’m sick of it. That woman is lobbying for the death of my siblings and you’re sat there crying over a fucking children’s book? Get over yourself!

I say this as a kid who grew up with the books, I don’t just “not appreciate the magic”. I was fixated and cried so hard on my eleventh birthday that I threw up because I didn’t get my magical escape from abuse letter and it meant I wasn’t special. This was a long term special interest that my teachers used to use to deal with me during violent meltdowns. And yknow what?

When I realised the author was a bigoted piece of shit I decided I cared more about REAL PEOPLE SHES HURTING than some fantasy. There are other stories, but we will never get back the living people killed by her and her rhetoric.

I’m tired of being nice and making people feel better about it. I’m tired of making this palatable for people.

It’s a fucking book. People are DYING.

Okay I know this is a joke but here is some advice from a person who loves clean sheets but cannot be trusted to finish a task, in order to make the ordeals less hard

Don’t give yourself the opportunity to lie upon a bare mattress for a week, because otherwise you will most likely be doing that.

You need at least one spare set of sheets. When you remove a pillow case immediately put the spare onto the pillow and then place the pillow on the floor. Repeat for any other pillows you have, your quilt and then finally your bedsheet. THEN wash your regular set and have that as the spare. If for whatever reason you have to stop halfway (like lack of spoons or whatever) you’ve not got a stripped bed with no quilts or pillows, you’ve just got some fresh sheets sorted, and that’s more than you had earlier.

if you want the rewards (sleeping on fresh clean sheets) you must first submit yourself to the mortifying ordeals (stripping the bed, washing the sheets, making the bed)

secret rocker santa updates (11/14/24)

they finally fixed my account so i can send messages again!! throughout tonight and tomorrow i will be back to sending numbers from this account <3 i am running super behind lol but it should be easy to catch up. for all that I love Ghosts, I've been getting a very different kind of joy out of watching uploads of a very, very similar show on youtube - The Ghosts of Motley Hall.

Like, a setup where the ghosts actually mostly like each other from the off, so that a huge chunk of the dialogue just goes towards establishing more and more of their meandering, idiosyncratic shared history (especially because the budget was clearly about £1.50 so they have to establish most things through dialogue)... that has its own kind of charm.

I've had a specific goal for each chapter of Motley so far (prologue was just trying to get a feel for it, ch1 was figuring out how I want to stylize the backgrounds), and I'm having a lot of fun working it all out lol.

Next chapter is gonna focus on improving the character dialogue. I'd like it to feel more candid and natural. It's a SUPER character-driven chapter, so I'm gonna try my best to make it flow better— less stilted exposition, avoiding unnecessary huge blocks of text, etc. Looking forwards to posting it!!
