on that note, if you were going to rewrite the sisters/write a similar group, what sort of approach would you take? ( planning on doing something like that if the motivation gods bless me)
i've made some big changes for the sisters for my beanie blog (pspspsps @askwcbean) but I think it really depends on the group you're trying to create. I wanted to keep the Sisters as a sustainable, self-growing group but keep some of the flaws (their strong sense of a gender binary). I don't want to make a utopian society out of spite, but I do want to make a society that could reasonably survive. Soooo (a combo of my ideas & stealing from others):
my collection of bullet point ramblings under the cut
The Sisters are very open to those willing to join and learn. They are a collection of loners, rogues, and kittypets. Not only does this keep our bloodlines less janked up, but it makes sense as to why the group can keep a reasonable amount of cats - they aren't closed off like the clans.
They'll often adopt abandoned kits, cats who are in bad situations, and generally anyone who is willing to learn and work with the group. This is a group that relies on diplomacy and good relations with others, they should be very open to outsiders.
Get rid of the super special bloodline thing. It's both a personal and practical thing, it doesn't work for a group like this. Have being able to see spirits be something you can be taught
I'm not giving Tree super special ghost powers. Sorry, I'm going to forever make fun of his novella it's so fucking stupid. He can see ghosts and has a heightened sensitivity to them, but it takes multiple Sisters and Brothers to be able to summon ghosts into views.
Keep the "Mother" kittypet origin story.
But how do they function? Well, the Sisters seem to operate a fairly small group, it doesn't really make sense to me for them to need a centralized structure. So, going for a decentralized system in the Sisters, power is distributed across the group and there is an emphasis on teamwork and decision making on all parts.
Choosing representatives for when meeting new groups tends to fall on reputation, charisma, and experience. Moonlight was chosen for these reasons, but she does not control the entirety of the group, though cats will lean on her words when she gives advice. She doesn't have legitimate power like a Clan leader, she relies on social influence and respect. Her word isn't law, but she does carry some weight due to her experience.
The Sisters have a fairly strong gender binary: Brothers, Sisters, Mothers, Fathers. You can be one or the other, they'll try to work around those who feel they don't fit for either role....but it doesn't always work out. I lean towards this not being decided by agab, you can shift from Brother to Sister and vice versa, it's those cats that don't exist in that binary who may feel out of place (but this is a wip idea and I want to tweak it more before i commit. i know for sure that Bean is one of those cats who doesn't want to fit this binary and is why she left to take up a "Brother" role despite not seeing herself as a Brother. I don't want them to treat them poorly, though it can happen, but that there's a lot of...reluctance to try and expand their ideas for these cats).
Toms don't get kicked out as babies. It's dumb, sorry everyone who likes that. There's no real logic to it besides a very half-assed attempt at trying to expand on the Sisters beliefs and even then, a kid with no training would get the shit kicked out of him by the wilderness lol
So, Brothers are socialized and trained on how to survive on their own. They're given information on medical herbs, hunting and gathering skills, best material to build dens and where to find a makeshift one in case of an emergency. Once again, this is not suddenly thrust upon them, they are socialized, this is something that they are believed to be as completely natural and an expectation for them.
When they are sufficiently deemed to be ready, the Brother is sent out to find a territory. They just don't just wander around (because I mean...the Sisters fill that role. They're nomadic). This is where I am yoinking a bit from others (notably bonefall's take on them), these territories act as base camps for the Sisters during their travels when they need to restock on herb supplies, have an injured or pregnant member, young kits, etc. That's why it's so important to them to have as many wide varieties of camps across their travels, and it's why Tree and Moonlight have some tension upon their meeting.
Boy picked a bad territory in their opinion, but in his defense, he didn't pick it for the Sisters. My base idea for these is Tree had a bad bad outing, but it needs work. I'll keep their strained relationship, but I'd like a little more depth to it just than the Erins beloved eeeeevvuuuulll mommmmyyyy (sooo scary!).
The Sisters believe they have a duty to help put spirits to rest, as well as help more malevolent ones find peace in the afterlife. They help with hauntings, lingering spirits, malicious spirits, etc.
They work in groups! The more malicious the spirit, the more Sisters it will take to pacify them and eventually release them from whatever is trapping them to the mortal plane.
Annnd so far that's what I've got! I have some more spirit lore over on my Bean blog, but this has been my working ideas for the Sisters themselves. Hope it helps :D

Alright I need help from the Brotherband fandom.
I read up to Scorpion Mountain years ago and enjoyed the series, but I lost interest in them for a while. I want to get back into it now. I have the first 7 books but I need both motivation to read and advice.
First of all like I said, I read the first 5 books but my memory is blurry. I roughly remember the things that happened and the character dynamics but I'm not sure if thats enough to read the rest? Should I read the first 5 books again? (This wouldnt be a major problem considering I can read hundreds of pages a day depending on my interest but considering the books usually explain previous events multiple times I wouldn't want to waste my time)
Secondly like I said, I need a bit of motivation. I remember starting The Ghostfaces not too long ago but finding the first pages boring and dropping it. You can tell me why you like the series and fun stuff thats waiting for me without major spoilers and that would be very useful.
Seeing the gang in RA was fun and I want to get back into Flanagan's other writing while I wait for Arazan's Wolves. Thank you for the help
(also I might draw fanart if I read them pspspsps)

Pspspsps i heard you read bl, u wanna give me some recs?
Ohohoho. You've come to the right place
Tumblr media
So let me give you a couple and tell you a little bit about them.
1. A Man of Virtue
If you like BDSM type stories, this is for you.
Jinwoo is a (seemingly) straight man who encounters a haechi statue while drunk one night and curses his lifelong rival Sangtae before vomiting on said statue.
The next day, anytime Jinwoo comes within 5 feet of Sangtae, he gets these overwhelming, erotic, BDSM fantasies.
The two work together to figure out the cause of the fantasies, the solution, and how to get them to stop.
It's fucking HYSTERICAL.
Their dynamic is so interesting.
It's a breath of fresh air from the normal feminine, dainty bottoms most authors write about.
2. Love or Hate
If you like love triangles... boy, do I have the triangle-ist of love for you.
Haesoo is a freelance writer who often gets sucked into the drama of his former step-brother, Joowon.
The two explored their sexuality together when their parents got remarried to each other.
Haesoo, sick of waiting on Joowon to stop being a dick and admit his feelings, encounters K, a photographer from Japan known for his lewd pictures.
He is tasked with writing a piece about K and conducting an interview, but the two end up hitting it off.
Honestly, this one was kind of gut wrenching for me. The emotional turmoil Haesoo experienced throughout was hard to get through, but it has a happy ending.
This one is depressing with a bit of humor sprinkled in here and there.
If you can read about a main character who thoroughly and 100% hates himself and make it through to the end, this one is for you.
3. The Dangerous Convenience Store
AHJUICY.
Ahem.
If you like a big, seemingly emotionless top who only gets emotional about his bottom, this one is for you.
Euijoon is a college student who works at a convenience store in a terrible neighborhood riddled with gang activity.
One night, a man shows up and saves him from a rude customer. After that night, the man continues to show up at the same time to buy alcohol and cigarettes.
Euijoon, out of curiosity more than anything, becomes infatuated with this man.
The man, who has been straight his entire life (he's like 40...), is confused about his adoration for Euijoon and decides to pursue him.
This one is a helluva ride. I dont even know Ahjuicy's real name cause Euijoon calls him Ahjussi the entire comic.
There is some violence (gangs are involved, what do you expect?)
It does have a happy ending, though.
4. Hold Me Tight
If you like a more feminine top and a more masculine bottom, this is for you.
Felix is being blackmailed into becoming Giovanni's body guard all so the guy who is blackmailing him can take Gio down.
Only, Gio has a condition where he doesn't feel warmth. Even a fire would not keep him warm. He has spent many of his nights cold and wears coats and scarves in the middle of Summer.
Until he encounters Felix. He feels warmth from Felix.
With Felix's motives not being so pure, how will their relationship pan out? Especially when Gio actively seeks out his warmth.
Felix is pretty masculine for a bottom. He is a black belt.
Gio is pretty weak as a top. He owns his own company and needs constant protection.
This was a very interesting dynamic.
It was a roller coaster of emotions, but DAMN the way their relationship progressed was too damn good.
These two hold such a special place in my heart.
5. The Unquenchable Mr. Kim
This one has a bad rep. I literally only half understand the bad rep and I'll get there.
Dooyun is half vampire, half human, but he can't drink blood to survive. In fact, eating doesn't even help him survive. He has to obtain a humans "essence" in order to stay alive. If he doesn't, he gets very sick and could die.
How do you obtain this essence, you ask? Guess. 😉
So anyway, his boss, Kangwoo, offers him a proposition after Dooyun accidentally sends him a message about finding a new sex partner. The message was supposed to go to someone else.
The only problem? Kangwoo's essence isn't strong enough to keep Dooyun alive.
As the two fall for each other, how will Dooyun survive???
The smut is A fucking PLUS.
The art isn't very good in the beginning, but it gets SO beautiful by the end.
The reason it has a bad rep has a lot to do with two important characters that were very poorly executed. It's only 65 chapters, but the author could have stretched it to over 100 so easily. As an author myself, I can overlook poorly executed characters in favor of a good storyline.
These are all finished works that I really enjoyed. Special mentions also include BJ Alex, Insecret (about an idol group), Hold Me Safe, Love So Pure, In My Closet (also about an idol group), A Life Without You, My Way With You, and Cherry Blossoms After Winter.
Ongoing works that I am currently reading (the list is long, so prepare yourself) includes: Pearl Boy, Under The Greenlight, Jinx, Steel Under Silk, Painter of the Night, Again, Low Tide in Twilight (omegaverse), Limited Run, Speak of the Devil, The Pawn's Revenge, Aporia, The Pizza Delivery Man and the Gold Palace, Opposites Attract, Anemone Theater, The Ghost's Nocturne, Stranger Than Friends, Checkmate, Mad Place, Semantic Error, Liveta (HEAVY ON THIS ONE. It's on hiatus but I have NEVER seen world building this good), Payback, It's Just A Dream... Right?! (Heavy on this one too. The top is DREAMY.), The Words in Your Snare, Don't Build My Hopes Up (this one made me realize I have major trust issues, lmao), Punch Drunk Love, Missing Love (this one is not for the faint of heart. It is DARK.), You Get Me Going.
I keep track of what I have read with ratings and comments in a notebook. I was thinking of transferring the data to my computer and posting it sometime. I've read over 70 works so far with a lot of ongoing works. I'd be so incredibly happy to share.
There are some works that I have finished that I didn't really care for. There are also a couple of works that I am reading that are ongoing that just don't have enough oomf to be mentioned here. I have dropped one that I won't even mention. It doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. If you want my list, it will be mentioned there, but that's it.
Sorry for the long post, I just got so excited 😭

YANDERE-DAZE GENSHIN ERA REAL⁉️ omg hell yeah bestie is kazuha your #1 fave :0 do you have any others!!! -robyn <3
GENSHIN ERA REAL INDEED SHSHE
And yes, Kazuha is my number 1 favorite character! I fell in love with his character design when I first saw him and I love his personality and his soft voice and I swear he has been carrying my team this entire time!! The way he talks is so calming too while I'm out exploring! Like yes indeed this scenery is wonderful, you say it so well babe🥺🥰 Nad the fact that he writes like a poem for your birthday?? It's so sweet!!
As for other favorites I'd say I'm pretty basic because I also really like Diluc, Albedo, Zhongli and Xiao!!
I got Diluc while losing the 50/50 for Albedo but I really fell in love! My mans tries to act all calm and cold but some of his voice lines are so soft?? Like when you're standing around others might complain but he's like "I guess we can rest a bit 😊" or when it rains just the way he softly says "I don't need an umbrella but you can have one if you'd like" like he says it so nicely and fondly I can't quite describe it but it makes me happy every time I hear it!
I did actually manage to get Albedo on the last day of his banner after getting Diluc and it's mainly because of the last event like for real they hit exactly the right spot for me with that whole imposter thing! There's so much yandere potential there that I'm frothing at the mouth! ( there may or may not be an almost complete scenario thingy about that in my drafts right now 👀)
Zhongli is one of the first characters I tried pulling for back then but I played so irregularily that I had like 10 pulls and then I lost all motivation to play lol dndbd his looks and his damn smooth voice are everything I tell you! I have an intense need to have him!! Please come home!!
Xiao has been a very recent fave and the server plays no small part in that shshe what can I say, you guys just made me love him a lot so I'm currently trying to save primogems for him because it sounds like he might get a rerun soon but I'm afraid I won't get him either because I spent all I had on albedo and gorou ( who didn't come home😭)
I just want to take care of him, okay?? Pspspsps please come home, I'm begging!!
