Sorry for asking! I'm just real curious 👀 what other bands/musicians are you including in your paper on the origins of punk?

hey no problem!! i’m actually pretty excited to talk about this one :)

basically the paper is on my own personal ideas of who the “proto-punks” were, and i was inspired to write it after i found some info on how the monkees influenced actual punk bands like the sex pistols! as of now, the paper is still in the planning stages, but i also want to include a chunk on how i think linda mccartney’s work as a solo artist could easily be considered proto-punk, especially when compared to the more "poetic" punk artists like patti smith.

i also want to include a section on garage rock girl groups of the 60s, such as the pleasure seekers and the belles, because they bear striking similarities to 90s punk girl groups (thee headcoatees comes to mind) and a lot of inspiration for for the riot grrrl movement was taken from them, but these ideas are a little less formulated at the moment, and i definitely need to do some thorough research beyond the bit i already know.

hope this was interesting to you, and if anyone has any sources they'd like to send my way on 'proto-punk' groups or something similar, it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

With everything going on recently with this god-forsaken website, unless something significant happens with the higher powers in charge, I'm going to be limiting my usage a bit.

Not deleting, since I have close to no other "social media" at the moment, and way too many friends here as it is. If anything, I'll probably check the blog here and there for dms/asks, and relegate a majority of my interactions and activity to my side blogs (if you know you know).

On the topic of that Brady Bunch episode cause I only saw it recently (I didn't really grow up with the show but my parents did lmao). I find it so funny how a generation of people know about Davy JUST from that episode. Based on the interviews I've seen of Davy in the 80s and stuff I think he was surprised by it too lmao.

oh truly hilarious! the thing is because i DID watch the show all the time as a kid, i also only knew davy solely from from that episode up until last summer when i became a monkees fan! it’s kinda like when kids in the 70s didn’t know paul mccartney was in another band before wings lmao
