These came to the top of my head btw, there’s a lot more..

✦Finch isn’t the kind to complain about being tired but he will silently complain about being tired by going to Ink, asking if he can hold him and simply holding him for a moment with his head nuzzled into Ink’s neck. {Ink surprisingly doesn’t find this embarrassing and actually feels like he’s flexing}.

✦It took Ink a while to hold hands with Finch or do anything related to public display of affection but once he got used to it, he started to enjoy his hand being slightly warmer or being able to gently squeeze Finch’s hand when he wants to leave or feels uncomfortable or simply wants to make a comment.

✦Finch isn’t a big foodie but he is willing to try new things out. Ink is the exact opposite and so subconsciously, Finch began to memorize the textures, flavors and even smells Ink liked and so he’s able to pick out great date places where they can eat.

✦Ink may not be good at finding places to dine out or to hang out in but what he’s great at is going out at the right time; he has an unbroken streak of texting Finch at times like 3 am and asking if he wants to take a walk, Finch has never been asleep or on his way to rest during these times.

✦While Finch knows Ink’s favorite things to eat and what matters most to him in a food, Ink knows what Finch’s favorite things to wear and what colors he enjoys and is able to style the other.

✦At times when Ink is feeling the need to draw or to paint something, he always uses Finch as an example or at the very least has him on his mind, thus his art is different than before.

✦Finch adores writing poetry. He often writes poetry admiring Ink and the way he’s changing and showing him his softer side.

✦Ink at times will try to get Finch to talk about something he’s passionate about or has many opinions about because not only does he get to hear Finch’s pleasant voice but it also helps him form better sentences on how he feels {Guards say that instead of just saying “It’s annoying” he’s now willing to explain why it bothers him}.

✦Ink actually adores Finch’s full name and finds it so easy to remember.

✦Ink subconsciously calls Finch “Hendrickson” which he himself is surprised to realize at times because it just slips out.

✦Finch has a couple more days off than Ink due to their ranks. He doesn’t try to make their days off match because he knows damn well Ink needs his alone time and if he wanted to spend time together he’s gotten confident enough to ask.

✦When one of them is out to buy something, they subconsciously look for things the other might like and end up not only buy something for themselves but also for the other {Can be literally anything, even if it’s just a drink or a hoodie}.

Probably a snake if Kevin didn't eat snakes - or like a spider in its own little cage. I could go turtle too, probably a box turtle, in like an enclosure he keeps off the ground and dresser? The snake could be like called Noodle because of Cross? The spider would be something like Buzz and then the turtle could just be called Finn after Adventure Time.

We haven’t really thought about their lore beyond how they ended up possessing a 15 y/o kid. But they do have something to do with nightmares, probably in a metaphorical sense given what happens in Red Sky, so they’re probably far more powerful than they appear. I doubt Pulaski knows the full extent of their power.

I don’t know if they and Kevin know each other personally, but they’d definitely recognize the other as a demon immediately.

They might also be eating the stuff they’re feeding Spindle. I don’t think they really care, and until their new body has transformed far past any imitation of humanity, they need to feed it.

Their gender is a big “don’t know, don’t care.” Whether this is their general gender identity or they just don’t care to make it comprehenabls to mortals is known only to them.

In a similar vein, I don’t think they care about clothes, beyond making sure they’re not too obviously Not Normal in public. They were really really bad at it at first, but they’ve gotten better. They still raise some eyebrows for their fashion choices. When they’re at the house they’re using as their lair they care even less. They’d probably wear the same outfit for a week straight if Pulaski wasn’t there to say “your clothes are filthy and starting to smell. You’re only going to draw more attention to yourself the longer you go without changing. I’ll buy you new clothes if I have to just please change”

They treat Spindle like a fighting dog he doesn’t really care about. They have to feed him and ‘discipline’ him, and train him to follow orders. The most disturbing part for Pulaski is that that’s…kind of exactly what Spindle’s acting like.

Fester can’t be killed by any weapon know to mortals. Especially while their stolen body is still at least partly human. Sparrow can banish them back to whatever nether realm they came from, but only another demon—and with great effort on their part—can really kill them. Kevin probably could

The teenager they possessed is still technically alive, but they’re not in there anymore. Just the demon. Poor kid.

the real Bobby never had the time to question their gender, but had they survived they would’ve realized they’re a girl. Using gender neutral pronouns because I’m torn between ‘well technically Bobby never transitioned so it would still be he/him’ and ‘ok yeah but we made the character, we said she’s trans, so we can use she/her.’ That being said do whatever you want, Bobby is no longer able to have opinions so they won’t care

running from a Nightmare – another Dreamtale au, this time about corrupted Nightmare being set loose on the Sonic world by none other than Eggman and the suffering that comes with it (also fighting tooth and tail to get it written)

the n 'n n's (read as m&m's) – unserious crossover where I put Nine Night and Nimona together and have them be silly (perhaps Nuzi will tag along some day too...)

above is the original midi from soundcloud. it sounds deep fried, has much clunkier harmonies that are awkward to play, but it is the og. evil blue vibes here. he is up to no good.

below is the piano midi version that is easier on the ear from 2019, I think, with adjusted harmonies.

but finally. here is me playing it this morning. ignore my weird technique, I'm a singer. it's not exactly perfect in piano form, the fingering isn't really smooth, but it is possible. it has one musical difference from the midi one up there simply because I wasn't following that version exactly, but it's mostly the same. except I played it way faster. take whatever tempo you please.

So I’ve been thinking about that one Ask about the whole “How would you do a DreamSwap?” Question. And I just got a small bit of brainrot that I really can’t peruse fully with due to a variety of reasons…

(I’m working on Izanagi’s AU which requires me to dive into Japanese Culture and learn about the horror genre and horror writing, design, and Japanese Horror specifically while trying to keep my sanity because PTSD mixed with Horror Gaming doesn’t mix well especially with me who has an Anxiety Disorder).

And A LOT OF OTHER SHIT. So I am going to leave the ideas I got here as an open source of ideas for anyone who wants to use them. These are free to use because I am not going to do shit with it.

So let’s get to the concepts and thought processes I go through:

My thought processes and reasonings etc:

As an artist I have a tendency to reach deep into my emotions and culture first before going into my inspirations. If I cannot go deep into my culture I look at other cultures.

If I remember correctly, the original creator of Dreamtale is from one of the many Spanish Cultures — and by that I’m talking Mexican, Brazilian (yes I’m counting Portuguese into this), Cuban, New Mexican (aka American Latinx or Hispanic) and Spain itself.

Personally, I’m Hispanic and I live in New Mexico and due to being unable to really be connected to my culture because of familial issues. Because of this I’m going to look at Mexican culture due to how close it is.

So now that I have a cultural inspiration, what angle am I going to go with when it comes to the brothers and a story?

Again I reach into my personal experiences and experiences I have heard about. Aka: what is my message?

Something I find to be extremely important for people to learn: Negative Emotions are Important.

Why do I say this?

A lot of people tend to focus on the fact that a person is mad instead of WHY a person is mad. It is a “brush it under the rug”, “be the bigger person”, and worse of all “turn the other cheek”, “keep the peace” and “don’t rock the boat”.

The problem with this ideology, I find, is that when people brush aside toxic behavior and have another just put up with it, these things will alienate one to keep the toxic individual from losing their shit.

The alienated person will eventually blow up and it will turn what would’ve been a small problem into a huge one. The person who forced these issues under the rug will be mad at the alienated instead of the cause of the problem in the first place.

This is toxic positivity.

Toxic positivity refuses to view negative emotions as what they really are: a reaction at something being wrong.

Anger, depression, mourning, despair, sorrow, annoyance, irritation, and the like all show that something is wrong and reveals issues that need to be addressed.

Issues that need to be addressed should be addressed before they grow into something that could be considered worse or will be worse for the mental health of the person who has the issues.

One of the most beautiful but misunderstood emotions by toxic positive people is the emotion of mourning because it is different for everyone.

How would one portray this in a story, however?

When applying to the characters we must start with Dream and Night’s mother and her story.

In the original Dreamtale she was a guardian who detested against mortals only to be nearly killed by an evil mortal without a name and she sealed herself away in the tree of emotions after creating Dream and Night. How do we change this to fit this new DreamSwap?

Simple: loosely base her off of La Llorona. The ORIGINAL La Llorona, not the shitty movie.

How do we do this?

We make it that her magic to create Dream and Nightmare was so weak that they themselves are mortal. Disgusted with this fact she tried to kill them immediately but had to make the choice of wasting what little magic she had to kill them or swallow her pride and seal herself inside the tree. She tried to kill them but ended up killing herself instead.

Because of this Dream is beyond overprotective of Night and will do whatever he can to keep things “happy” and “positive” out of pure fear of anything bad happening to him and his brother.

One day Dream catches Night being bullied and this sends Dream over the edge prioritizing his own peace over the peace of everyone else, including Night’s. He can’t stand Nightmare being terrified of him or being depressed in any way so tries to force Night into being positive, ignoring the reason why Night is upset, and this fallout leads to Night running away while Dream rules over the village and forcing every AU he can to be positive even if it is to their detriment.

Nightmare is trying to correct this.

If Dream is that act you put up at that Thanksgiving Dinner where those cousins you DREADED being there.

Nightmare is that much needed cry you have in Therapy when you go into that childhood trauma you never told anyone about, not even your closest family members or friends.

So what are we going to base the designs of the twins on?

Easy:

Dia De Los Muertos.

Kayle (on the left) and Morgana (on the right).

And lastly, specifically for Nightmare we are adding Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte (Our Lady of Holy Death). Along with the superstition of Bruja (and brujería) [translated to witch and witchcraft].

With all this in mind we have it that Nightmare has mourned the brother he thought he knew and is trying to heal others through their trauma via mourning their loss, giving them healthy outlets, etc. He still has a “bad sans” gang but instead of having them in an exploitative and abusive relationships, instead Nightmare healed them through their traumas.

For Killer he helped him find love with Color and even got him a therapist.

For Dust, he got him a therapist helped him slowly but surely find a new life.

For Horror he helped get him a therapist, and get Horrortale food, saving them from starvation and saving Aliza.

Through all of this he earned their loyalties to the point that they’re all ride or die.

But most of all they all helped Nightmare mourn the possible loss of his twin and the loss of what he thought he knew about his brother. Though they know there is a possible chance that Dream could be redeemed but if Dream so set his in his ways, they honestly don’t know what to do that would make Dream realize he’s doing more harm than good. They do help Nightmare make an ofrenda for Dream because of how much Nightmare misses him and also views the Dream he knew as dead.

In a good ending I imagine Dream helping negative AUs regain their positivity but in a healthy way, instead of how he did so before. He and Night are slowly starting to regain their connection.

A neutral ending would be that Dream kills Night’s friends before realizing that he’s the cause of Night’s misery, Night leaves Dream before Dream could even try to say anything to even remotely apologize — despite knowing that it would only make things worse. Night is no-contact with Dream, and Dream is trying to find Night but every time he tries to Night escapes. Nothing Dream does to redeem himself will make Night come back.

The bad ending is obvious. Night kills Dream.

This is all I got for this so feel free to use it because not going to. I just had a moment of brain rot that I cannot peruse nor want to. Please have fun with this and do so with all the power in the world.

Dreamswap... dear beloved Dreamswap... I have so many thoughts about you....

Gosh i need these two to confront their feelings and hurt and heal and recover and give each other comfort so desperately you can't even imagine.. No i don't spend each and every waking hour thinking about them what do you mean haha...

Below the cut is me rambling, this is your time to scroll past to save yourself from the insanity i will get into.

These two, THESE TWO!! I can't even comprehend my own thoughts for them, like, i imagine too many scenarios. The angst is insane because i need them to suffer but i also need them to lovingly hold each other in their arms.

I need Dream to realise how much of a mistake his actions are and how flawed his world view is, like, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT TO KILL YOUR CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND THAT WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO SAW YOU AS THEIR EQUAL BACK WHEN YOU BOTH WERE KIDS??!?!? AUGHH, I can't even, the angst potential is so good, yes i know it's an AU that's centred around comedy and filled to the brim with gags but i need you to look at me in the eyes and genuinely tell me as if these two aren't in the most tragic situations ever.

Dream completely believes wholeheartedly that killing Nightmare is the only way to eradicate all negativity and being upset about the notion, but pushing down his conflicted feelings because he prioritises the happiness of the majority of the multiverse and wishes nothing but a better future.

No matter how much the thought hurts him but he's numbed all of his feelings towards Nightmare that he regards the other with indifference.

And Dream is tired. He is so tired of chasing Nightmare, from the ever growing responsibilities that he has to take care of as the head of an organisation, from the endless nights he would stay awake to finish his work. He used to love someone, but that someone probably hates him. He couldn't fix it and acted as if nothing happened.

He used to have another person that he loved dearly, that he cherished, but now they were gone as their illness consumed them. He's angry, but not at them, at himself. Maybe if he knew, maybe if he was fast enough, he could've saved them. But he was too late, and now they are gone.

And the only other person that used to love him doesn't want to be anywhere near him anymore and he knows it's his fault. God, why did he have to mess everything up?

It seems as if every person that he ever loved will eventually drift away from him. Taken away from him by his own actions or things outside of his control.

He catches himself looking at the old and worn pictures he has of him and Nightmare when they were younger when they were happier, the picture is fragile, the passage of time wearing it down, it's yellowed and he keeps it in a picture frame.

Sometimes he can't bear looking at it, placing the picture frame down on its front. He hides away the other photographs in a locked drawer in his bedroom.

Sometimes he fiddles with the sun charm around his shirt collar, running his finger along the ridges as he stares off into space, being pulled to reality as someone knocks on the door to his office, snapping him out of his reminiscing.

Sometimes when he lays down in his bed in the rare times he would actually sleep, he would imagine another presence in front of him, their messy black hair strewn about as they rest, face peaceful.

It brings him back to the past and he has to close his eyes and try to ignore it. Ignore the voices he would hear, calling out to him, ignore the faces that would remind him of someone...

Nightmare feeling so betrayed that the only person that he thought would have his back in his entire life to go against him, just like everyone else. He looks up towards Dream so much, admiring the other's dedication and kindness.

But to be chased away, falsely accused, being labelled a criminal, having the entire world against him and knowing that he's blamed for all the despair that's inflicted towards him. This guy has every right to be a villain, but he proved them wrong, he kept going, not heeding the words they say to him, what they label him as because he knows they're wrong. (Or does he? does he doubt himself all the time? does he question the things they say about him? does he ever wonder or think to himself that they were right? that what they are saying isn't completely far from the truth? that maybe they're right and he should just disappear from the face of the world for the betterment of everyone?). Coming so close to death so many times, never having the comfort of knowing that he'll have a roof over his head anymore, not knowing if he'll have food to eat, never sleeping soundly, being plagued by Nightmare and visions of his own death, of his imprisonment. Getting cuts, bruises and fractures and pushing aside the pain because he has to keep going, he has to keep going or else they'll catch him and that will be the end of his life, no matter how bleak it all seems.

And what if it all comes to end before he know it? What if Dream finds Nightmare and his bloody body, dead from the hands of other, or even himself? How would Dream feel then? That the person he was after was no longer alive at the hands of others, or worse, by the hands of the same person that used to look at him with comfort and smiles in their eyes?

That he failed as a friend, not being able to save his best friend from their own hands. It was his fault, wasn't it? He drove Nightmare to do this, and now he's gone. The guilt would gnaw away it his soul and Nightmare couldn't have that, no matter how many times he glances at the sharp objects near him when he felt like giving up. He couldn't do that to Dream. No matter how much he wishes he could just end it all right then and there.

He misses Dream, he misses the time when they would joke and laugh with each other, he misses the way the other would warmly smile at him, when the other would hold him after a bad nightmare in the middle of the night.

He misses Dream's cooking because he was horrible at it himself, he misses when Dream would read to him the stories he read as he dozed off, listening to his voice drone on. He misses when Dream would take care of him when he was sick and stubborn to take care of himself and the other would scold him for not resting. He misses it, he misses it all so dearly and he missed being told that he was loved. He wanted Dream to say it to him again, like nothing ever happened but he couldn't have that anymore.

I’ve already forgotten how much about it here and how much I only wrote in the notes for the AU, but Phrikeh’s economy is kinda fucked up rn

Since the whole point of taking over from Delusion was to be a better ruler than him, Byte’s trying to actually be a halfway decent queen. She’s mostly doing a reasonable job (aside from some really odd things happening and some things now being punishable by death. Which is not discouraging the rumors that she and Slash, if not also Pluto, were murderers), too.

Having been a non-Royal citizen for most of her life, Byte’s very much aware of some of the actually serious problems in the kingdom that she now has the power to get fixed. And she’s prioritizing the worst of them! The people are actually quite happy about this

But she’s gotta pay for all of it to be fixed. And she’s never even SEEN this much money in her life before. So she’s not being super responsible. Slash isn’t any better. Pluto could be but he’s not. He didn’t realize how long it took to build up the treasury to where it had been.

Byte raises taxes some (and after all she’s done to fix stuff, most people are actually okay with this), but they know she can’t raise it too much because not everyone can afford that and if she makes people go broke because of taxing she’s doing.

So they’re trying to figure something else out.

Pluto says the best option is to get a trade agreement with some place that can pay good money for whatever they’re offering, but they don’t have much that they aren’t already exporting or is unique enough to them to justify a price over the going market rates.

So while they attempt to figure that out, they have turned to some less noble solutions

Which Hunter gets in on

If Byte ever needs to visit another kingdom on royal business, and it’s not someone they’re already allied with, she’ll have Hunter poke around their hosts’ castle. If she’s hoping to make a new political or trade friend, that’s the extent of it to start with. But if she decides, before arriving or after talking to them, that she doesn’t like them and won’t be making any kind of agreement with them, she has Hunter stuff as much of their money into a bag as he can in about five minutes, tops.

Slash also “borrows” some of the more expensive finery. Which Hunter sells for them. Under a fake name.

The only reason they don’t also steal from their allies and existing trade partners is because they know that’s the fastest way to loose those allies and trade partners. Not that they’re not tempted to. Every so often they seriously consider risking it, but they don’t. They’re not ready to deal with that shitstorm. They’re already on thin ice

No one’s been able to prove anything, but most of the places the royal posse has visited are real sure those little shits stole from them. And the rumors spread. And since Byte was completely unheard of to Phrikeh’s allies until she became queen, none of them are willing to give her the benefit of the doubt just yet. Especially because of how she gained the throne.

Especially since Aphotia has been beating the war drums and trying to take over pretty much the entire world. A sudden change in leadership, especially one that caused so much upheaval, would be a very good opportunity to invade.

I have fallen to gacha reacts of fucking dreamswap and all I fucking want IS A REACTION OF CANON DREAMTALE WHERE NIGHTMARE IS CONSIDERED AS ADORABLE AND ARROGANT (baby is like 16 years old and below, youngest being six and nine being the most likely canon age. I don't remember it keeps changing every time I look)

Like come on. Enrich me with the angsty realization that the nightmare they're reacting to is nothing more than sentient magic taken form, a kind of parasite with memories of its host body. That Nightmare died scared, alone and horrible. That he wasn't turned into this hateful, vengeful, petty thing but an odd being has taken his body puppeting a child's corpse!

Like,,, I want them to react with the Dreamtale! Dream who sees what looks like to be his brother but instead of being loved by another version of him, he's being hunted down and while Dream cannot hate, oh does he want to hate. Dream is so bitter. Bitter and sad and oh so horrified that in another life, he was the one who ate the Apples so ravenously that HE MUST HAVE LOST HIS MIND!

Because Dream will refuse to believe that another version of him will act so uncaring for his brother.

Of course, Dream is an unreliable narrator, as he thinks this works like alternate universe. Which he's not wrong, but Dreamswap is different in that Nightmare and Dream were chosen, not made for the Guardian role. For all technicalities. Those are their titles rather than names. Nightmare, the Guardian of Negativite and its Dark Apples and Dream, the Guardian of Positivity and its Golden Apples. And the title just keeps getting shorter and shorter until it just became Nightmare and Dream. It is their role that they have forsaken and used at the same time.

Canon Dreamtale! Dream on the other hand was made for this role, created and formed with the intent of having a temporary Guardians for the Tree of Feelings. Rather than a curse and punishment like in Dreamswap. Which makes it very, very different for the two worlds.

Dream cannot approach them with this belief and thinking. But I want that misunderstand to permeates, to continue obscuring and misleading Dream's understanding of Dreamswap that he snaps into righteous fury.

And blah, blah, blah. Basically I want Dreamswap to be horrified, Canon Dreamtale! Dream being there and slowly loosing his shit because he's also being exposed to what his brother was feeling like before his technical death and then finally snapping and trying to kidnap the Dreamswap Nightmare for his own good. Or something like that.

I've seen a drawing of Eclipsetale!Dream (Sun), SwapDream!Dream (Swad), and Dreamswap!Dream together and found it quite amusing on how all of them have wings, yet despite it DS!Dream is probably the most sanest one out of those two...

To be fair, he only ate 198 apples compared to the 999 the other two consumed. It makes sense that he comes across as the most 'normal' on the surface. Of course, I don’t think he’s truly normal either, but he’s at least capable of maintaining a façade—something the other two struggle with entirely.

The second ending for the Fallen!DreamSwap story! I'll warn you about the mention of murder and blood.

Nightmare comes to the tree of feelings to think about his next plan, and to visit the tree itself. Suddenly, the voice in his head gets louder and says all sorts of nasty things not only about the Dream. He hears someone else's voice saying that now his main obstacles on the path of revenge are Error and Cross, that the plan to destroy Dream should have started by removing Error and Cross from his path. Then everything was a blur, and Nightmare couldn't control himself and decided to return to the Black Humor Squad house.

"You need to leave," Nightmare said as soon as he entered the house. "You need to leave in a good way, or it will be worse for you!"

"Nightmare? What are you talking about, bro?" Cross looked nervous. He understood that they were being chased out of the house at the moment, but he couldn't understand the reasons.

"Are you an idiot? Get out before I strangle you two on the spot!" hissed Nightmare angrily, preparing to go to his room so as not to see those who, in his opinion, are now interfering with him.

"Okay, we're not going anywhere until you explain yourself!" Error already decided to enter into a dialogue, he was annoyed by this behavior of his friend. He took his hand to stop him, but a blow immediately hit his arm, as well as a vicious look from Nightmare. Nightmare's patience was running out, the two of them were already starting to bother his eyes. "Nightmare, explain yourself quickly!" those words acted as a trigger.

"I don't have to fucking explain anything to you! You're bothering me!" After these words, Nightmare quickly called the negative on his hand and scratched Error's face, from which he recoiled. Blood was running down his face and was now dripping onto the floor, the wound was deep, and his eye was covered in blood, so it was impossible to open it. Nightmare also tried to strangle Error by scratching the side of his neck.

As soon as Cross recovered from the shock, he grabbed Nightmare from behind and knocked him to the floor, and a struggle began. Cross made the huge mistake of getting close to Nightmare from behind, as he was pierced with a vector just below the rib cage, and then slashed across the throat with claws. Error was shocked by what he saw. On shaky legs, he ran to the bathroom, where he locked himself in. He couldn't help Cross, he just had to save his own skin.

"Urgently bring Dream to this address! Nightmare went crazy and killed Cross, I'm next!" read Error's message, which he sent to Blue, and then sent his geolocation. All that remained was to hope that Nightmare would not have time to knock down the door before Dream arrived, that Error would be able to survive and not die from blood loss. Yes, he had fought with Nightmare before, and he had fought hard, but at the moment he understood that this battle was definitely not going to be won.

Dream with a bunch of warriors arrived about 5 minutes after the message. By this time, Nightmare was already trying to kick down the bathroom door, but the incoming enemy abruptly turned his attention to himself. After about 10 minutes, they managed to twist Nightmare and inject him with a tranquilizer to calm him down. Error surrendered to Dream voluntarily when he realized that Nightmare no longer posed a threat to his life, but even so, he quickly lost consciousness as soon as he crossed the threshold of the bathroom, the wound on his neck was deep, and there was almost no adrenaline left in his blood.

Error was treated at JR Castle, his wounds were stitched up and he was helped to recover physically. Error even agreed to join JR as an intelligence officer. Error also insisted that Cross be given a proper funeral and attended the funeral.

And what about Nightmare?.. From now on, he sits in JR's dungeon in a straitjacket and shackles of positive energy that block most of his power. Dream often visits Nightmare, but Error cannot overcome himself and come to him, because he understands that he acted like a traitor, and this will serve as a huge trigger for Nightmare, in which case Nightmare will try to kill Error, even if he is completely exhausted due to the positive in shackles.

And I also realized that I hadn't posted the first ending on Tumblr… Oops, haha
