Second Rant: The Villainess/Mob/Side Character/ Random Girl Who Wakes up in a Novel She Read
Whoopie! Reincarnated to a novel/game, an interesting concept really. Seeing how there is already a pre-determined story to follow, I do wonder how they'll go about this.
*Several reads later*
Oh boy. They can't really think of anything else can't they?
Okay so, one thing I really really like genuinely hate about these stories is how the mc always acts so dumb. Like, girl, come on, I think for the past few years you've been in this world you ought to think that things develop.. idk NaTurAlly? Why do you keep saying that "things are changing" like no shit things are changing, you've changed and that's practically gonna cause a ripple effect on everything.
Oh, oh, and I hate it when ml is like obv showing feeeeelingsss but mc is just: (ā .ā Ā ā āā Ā ā į“ā Ā ā āā .ā ). "No OmG tHaTs NoT PosSIblE, cu'Z he'S supPosEd to FalL foR ThE OrigINaL FL!"
Fuck it even when the ml admits his feelings the girl is just like "no".
It's frustrating to me because authors tend to develop these ladies as quick thinkers and determined, always trying to find ways to avoid death flags set to them. But then they do those aforementioned things and it kinda makes you think how shallow they are. It's like they don't see the relationships they build as real ones and are all just superficial for specific reasons.
I understand the concern when you feel like you're trying to fight against fate but most of these stories don't even actually have that. Things do change and usually nothing terrible happens, but mc acts like there will be even though the author clearly only puts "horrible" things as plot advancers and nothing too serious.
Also, for those mc that woke up in their new body with a shit reputation paired with what everyone knows has a shit personality, why is everyone just okay with her changing all of the sudden ā like its just plain stupid. If I knew someone who is evil suddenly becomes good overnight, I would not only be sceptical but also assume that she's possessed (seeing how magic always exists in these worlds i don't that's too far from the realm of possibility right?). This one honestly is what bugs me the most.
Suspicion is removed cu'z mc does something heroic or wonderful (blegh), but that kinda undermines the suffering other people have gone through with the original character. Some authors have even shown fully blown flashbacks where the original character is violent, verbally abusive and typical in every possible way. And these people just, flips a damn switch and say "Oh! She's changed!" Which boggles my mind every time I read something like that.
Which puts me to my next complaint. There is no real villain or even when there is they aren't really appealing. The problems set by the "original" story already gets destroyed like a couple chapters in, so what next? There are quite a lot of stories that just turn the OG Female Lead into whatever the villainess is supposed to be like: delusional, fake, etc. Which to me is, fine, but if you're gonna turn someone else in that world into a villain for the sake of having a bad guy, then why not put the stakes higher? Or at least give them more of a reason than just them feeling entitled to have the boyz. They don't have any substance to them and are bland af. Its a story vying for a downfall you already know will come.
Overall these ladies think too much and too little at the same time. Istg their dialogue can be summarized into "That didn't happen" "This didn't happen in the original.." "Is there a bug in the game..?" or "Why are things not going as the orignal!?"
It burns my brain trying to see through their eyes and understand their logic, until you realize they don't have common sense at all. They are geniuses only when they need to be, but is dumb af everywhere else.
Also, as much as I love puffy, frilly dresses I'm tired of mc changing the og characters seemingly sexiness into this cutesy vibe doesn't sit well with me. They're obviously trying to put this as more of a visual dichotomy between the original character and the current mc, but its not much of a statement. (But honestly this just may be me because I want more sexy mc you know?)
Trust me when I say this post barely covers half of what I truly feel about these stories and this is just the general gist of it. Also couldn't be bothered to add specific titles like the last rant.

"legally" obtained Cyberpunk and it's been a ride.
It's a very confused game. Much of it feels undesigned, like they had an idea, implemented it, and barely adjusted it from there. That's not a claim, that's what it feels like, to be clear.
To me, it's weird having an open world at all for something that thus far feels like hallway after hallway designs. Sometimes it gets so absurd, like climbing very boring rubble with little to look at to continue the story, and it's got platforming but I can only ask what would be lost if they did anything else? One time so far an elevator failed, so I had to walk left, press F, then it came down and I could continue normally. What. Was the point.
The inventory system is as cool as it feels undesigned. All the UI is terrible and none of the stats carry meaning. It's just how they shoot differently, and that, is really cool. I found a sniper rifle that shoots 9 shots in a circle, that's cool as hell. Gives me borderlands vibes, but I imagine every gun like it does the same, so it starts to feel more like they had far too many designs and didn't want to leave any off the table. I'm usually fine with this but the sheer abundance of the exact same weapon duplicating in your inventory is rather undesigned feeling. Idunno what to dissasemble nor where to put shit up. Though the fact some are shooting differently from one another is rather refreshing in the FPS scene.
I skipped the intro. Fully expected the intro to take far, far, far too long before anything of real interest happens. As far as the story goes it's confused. I'm saving the US president? In the first hour essentially? Eh, honestly the president has been pretty fuckin' badass so I'm able to focus on her characterization more than her job being The Most Importantest Thing Everz (we can't write story but can characters, aka) I'm a Street Punk who suddenly is protecting America's Democracy ans president.... yay cyberpuuunk....
Performance is all over the place and visually the game is incompetent without raytracing. It looks fine enough with RT, but without, oh wow, nobody spent much time on that. HDR settings are fake and meaninglessly unusable like most games, no setting other than RT seems to improve performance either. Even upscalers aren't doin' nothin'. Primarily the lighting and brightness of the game is downright awful. Simple Darks becomes Black and Brights become White. You'll be needing Reshade for this one folks, I can't stress enough how much work it took to get the game to be Visible??
In terms of gameplay, man what's going on with the scroll wheel for weapons. The hell are these god awful claws? Why do they keep showing up when I'm scrolling through guns? I'm in the middle of a firefight trying to switch to a sniper and they pull out fuckin claws? Can't even unequip them and melee in the game has thus far proven rather poor, fruitless, unfun, and not worthwhile. A real joke of a weapon forced into your weapon scrolling. Can't quick change either, gotta wait on the pull out animation. Gunplay is...bulletspongey for the sake of it. They had big guys with big guns at 2 points so far and I've never been able to use their gun on a single enemy thus far. It's cool they don't just ragdoll upon death, and play an animation as long as they're being shot, though, maybe the giant mech could've ragdolled when only it's toe was on the upper floor.
Exploration is borked head to toe. There's one section where you're on the story path, and ya look around every possible direction but forward, just to eventually find a small square of the area in between doesn't have double jumping for some reason. So you double jump in areas you can to explore and find....absolutely nothing there was 0 reasons to have a random square non-double jumpable and exploration didn't matter other than ammo...of which the game gave me 999 for every single one basically at the end of every encounter? You're never gonna go below 700 bullets. Might as well not even bother with ammo pick ups? It's really, really "undesigned" stuff.
In order to get what feels like a rather essential and basic skill, I have to unlock an entire section for? with like 13 points or some shit I have NO CLUE where to obtain? Leveling up in general is exceptionally poor. Nothin' is organized or makes an ounce of sense. There's 40 different things to level up and 0 direction for what any of it is. Just kinda...saving points til I can actually buy something...rather simple? Meh.
Hacking is an absolute joke. I sincerely hope whoever designed that crap never gets another job in gaming. It's indescribably bad. There is no way to elaborate. You see it, and genuinely want to punch the creator of it. Bad. Exceptionally so and doesn't take much time to realize it.
Oh and they have QTE that uses the Dialogue Box for input. Absolutely. Hilarious. I don't even know if I should call it bad, if it works it works, but man, it's really lame, rather lazy feeling. Imagine if Fallout had QTE using their dialogue boxes, it feels rather poor.
But bizarrely, despite all this, I can't say it's been a bad time. I haven't gone "Bro what even is the point in continuing" or "Wow ya'll really didn't think to playtest this part huh." nah it's been fine. A decent middle of the road 6/10 experience that you easily can get elsewhere and better. But it's not dreadful. It's interesting in some areas, the MC's writing is unbearable to enjoyable, the other characters....exist. The designs of everyone is dogshit, Idunno who said Cyberpunk needed the ugliest looks but boy they went with it.
I don't reccomend it however. It really has been middle of the road generic slop. Far too much of a budget for the gameplay it actually is, and thus far too costly given the price. Get it on sale for 20$ bargain bin prices and you'll have a fair trade. Surprisingly playable, but unsurprisingly incompetent, but even more surprisingly, not a bad time. Just not a very good one. You'll feel a higher quality in indie titles, as usual.
It's confused as hell and doesn't got a clue what it is or wants to be, but the ideas inside, while not well executed, do keep the game feeling fresh at times. It does feel a cut above the average FPS in moments, but it overall does nothing better or new than any previous game similar. Just shootin' guys, poor stealth mechanics, and endless talking, with dogshit exploration, in poor level design sections. But it's fun enough to not focus on all of that, the pace of the story keeps bad ideas from lasting too long (sans the giant mech fight nobody playtested) but in turn you're gonna pass out waiting on story to give up it's stolen turn of fun so you can get back to having fun. It really does start to become "okay when does gameplay happen?" after a while. Dialogue choices thus far are frivilous.
It's just...confusing this game had so much time and budget...there's...nothing here. Nothing to indicate it took a decade and a half to come out. Not one aspect feels like the budget helped. Just the graphics which have awful visuals without RT. How does a game made a decade before RT existed, look horrific without it?
Oh and the bugs and jank. It's not as bad as release day but this shit's Jank-yyy. Like people just...spawn inside you. Or walk into walls? One time an enemy's feet was stuck in the ground... It's not embarrassingly bad like most modern titles, but it is noticeably poor at times.
I don't have much else to say. I wouldn't even say much about this if it didn't have a marketing team ensuring people made claims of the game based on emotion they created in their head based off concepts in the game, but not anything actually in-game. It really is a generic slop of an experience, but given today's standards, I guess that's high quality now. Meh. It's not horrific, just...forgettable. Nothing in here makes me go "Oh man I wish my friends got to experience this!" it's just mindless for the most part. I sincerely don't see the hype for the game, it really is amateur hour between the higher budgeted sections for story primarily if not solely.
Why bother with an open world if you're just gonna make a streamlined linear experience? There's no reason to go killing at random and less reason to explore. Rather empty but cluttered with the exact same burrito vending machine over and over. NPCs got nothin to say. It really is just a confused game top to bottom. But the difference between other confused titles and this one, is they actually seemed confident enough to make poor ideas into unbothersome ideas. From mediocre to decent.
I just Do Not Think anyone had a clue towards game design on this product. It's painful how confused it is. And it's even harder to explain such a point in a game riddled with half-ideas polished into half a doorknob. If I were best to describe it, it feels like 4 teams worked on the game at the same time, and then they had to put it together at some point far too late to fix any inconsistencies or poor designs. Like they had 4 versions of the game and grabbed what worked best from each and put it in with reckless abandon.
At no point does it feel like a path was fully intended. It just feels like they're using assets they only just saw and only were just provided. Exploration is the largest part of this confusion factor, as it's just dreadful.
Anyways, nah this ain't a rant. It's more of a "Wow despite all of yourself, you're still fun" it feels like if a bargain bin game got far too much of a budget and too long to develop, but the devs were passionate enough to make it work regardless. It's impressive in that, despite all it's flaws, you can still have a pretty above average time in it, just...don't expect anything revolutionary or approaching as much. It's all ideas you've seen before and done better half-slapped into here with little regard.
But it is fun. It is decent. Just not...the size of it, good, the size and passion of the community, good. It's Greg levels. Ya don't hate Greg, but ya don't really want to be around them, though when you are you never have a bad time. That, is Cyberpunk 2077. Greg.
#cyberpunk 2077#a rather interesting experience with a modern title.#it feels...like we're going backwards more and more. But they're refining what once was always a bad corner#I really dunno how to put it other than Good Smart design has died for Potato Chip designs#and Cyberpunk is just potato chips where most of them aren't even flavoured#Like it's decent enough to eat through but putting an ounce more into it will never yield a return#Again. Not bad. Just confused and decent at best#Just confuses me it had such a fervent fanbase#like what are ya'll standing up for? There's nothing...here? Other than characters I guess but tbh they all suck except the president#even V is utterly lame and horribly written at times#It's bizarre. I will never understand how it garnered such popularity and clout whilst having actually nothing to show for it.#The gaming world's biggest larp#I think people gotta realize it's okay for games to not be high-art and you absolutely can enjoy a bad product#it's okay for a game you sincerely enjoy to not be great critically. I really wish people would understand this#It's okay to like bad games. Just don't pretend this is the direction the industry should go when there's Nothing There#Seriously there's Nothing that makes CP2077 stand out against any other FPS. It's okay to like something that's not at all unique#It means nothing about you as a person. Please understand that.#Anyways 6/10 definitely won't finish it before it bores me to sleep Again.#I slept like 8 fuckin hours after getting the president to the building with the 2 generic lookin punks#so. fuckin. little happens sometimes#It's decent. And that is okay. I am okay with it's flaws. I just don't see how the whole of it is āgoodā to some people yet. It's pretty#forgettable so far

BnHA Chapter 317: My Boy Was Just Like Me
Previously on BnHA: AFO randomly blew up Lady Nagant as a good reminder of why you should never make a deal with this fucking guy, smdh. Hawks was all āwell if it isnāt my two best friends, Deku and Lady Nagant, both of whom I respect and love tremendously.ā Everyone was all ā??ā and Horikoshi was all āshh... just pretendā because it was too embarrassing for him to admit that he forgot to write a couple of set-up flashbacks I guess. Anyway so Hawks got Lady to tell them where AFO was hiding out, and everyone said goodbye to her and Overhaul, who never did get to see his boss (sorry buddy, Iāll send you a vial of my tears in the mail), and headed out to a house in the woods. AFO was all āhello Deku :) :) it sure is fun making you suffer :) :) :) anyways this is a trapā, and blew up the house. Yeah, we all here are getting reaaaaaaaal tired of your shit, AFO.
Today on BnHA: The Hawksquad and Edgeplatoon meet in a warehouse and are all āwhat should we do about the fact that everything sucks?ā Mt. Lady is all āhereās a thought, what if we tried battling AFO with more than six people.ā Hawks and Endeavor are all āgreat initiative, but just a friendly reminder that our friends also suck and would probably betray Deku which would suck further still.ā Shouto is all āANSWER THE PHONE DADā and Endeavor is all ā[IRONICALLY DOESNāT ANSWER THE PHONE].ā Meanwhile over in Sadtown, capital of Sadland Prefecture, Japan, Deku is all āAll Might, as you can clearly see I am completely fine and good, never been better in fact, definitely not caught up in the throes of an epic mental breakdown which is shutting me down emotionally, anyway so on that note I would like to leave you now goodbye!!ā All Might is all ā[canāt actually form any words because heās too distraught].ā Fandom is all āo(ā„ļ¹ā„)o.ā Horikoshi is all ā(*ļ¼¾-ā) ä¹ [pew pew finger guns and barrel rolls into the darkness].ā
sweet jesus lord
this literally doesnāt even look like Deku anymore?? this looks like Dark!Deku who shows up to fight you in that one room in the Water Temple. he looks like heās about to crawl out of my television set and murder me with his psychic powers good lord
holy shit lmao Horikoshi is really just shrugging his shoulders and resolving last weekās cliffhanger with a single line of dialogue
fire is no oneās weakness. idk what other options youāve got, AFO, but youāre gonna have to go back to the drawing board. maybe try bees or something. Iām just saying. weāre all expecting fire at this point but nobody is expecting bees
anyway so now theyāre all sitting in some warehouse somewhere chatting about it I guess. shoutout to Horikoshi for finally giving my man Edgeshot some more dialogue at long last
well, Edgeshot, to answer your question, she exploded. so naturally sheās fine
nah just kidding, Hawks says she wonāt be able to help them out much because sheās recovering from being exploded. this is the part where we all ignore the fact that Hawks got set on fire for like a full ten minutes back during the War arc and was only in the hospital for a day. anyways enjoy your temporary plot hiatus Nagant
man thereās a lot of dialogue here and Iām trying to figure out where to insert commentary but itās kinda difficult lol. basically, Edge and the others are saying that they should gather up the other remaining heroes and get them all caught up on the whole OFA situation. which, hmmmm
like on the one hand, these guys definitely arenāt going to cut it on their own, so itās a reasonable suggestion on the face of it. but on the other hand, do we really want to entrust the OFA secret to a bunch of other people, most of whom shat the bed during the War arc to be quite frank? is it really worth the additional risk? especially given that any one of them might go spilling the beans to the public -- or worse, betray them to AFO??
also just a quick side note here, Mt. Ladyās character development never ceases to delight me. sheās become so committed to her responsibility as a hero these days, and it fucking suits her. I genuinely consider to be one of the elites now. I mean it doesnāt hurt that all the other elites are fucking dead lol but still
wait what? Death Arms retired??
Death Arms as in the guy who was too afraid of a little fire to try and save a terrified 14-year-old kid who was slowly suffocating right before his eyes?? that Death Arms???? color me surprised. shocked, I tell you
...okay but holy fuck
Death Arms. bro. my expectations for you were low but holy shit. like Iām sorry, but I donāt even have it in me to try and pretend like I feel the slightest bit of sympathy for him or Old Man Samurai or any of those other guys today. thanks for a whole lot of nothing my dude. good riddance
(ETA: so Iām rereading this the next day and realize this comes off as kind of harsh, so let me just try to clarify. itās not the fact that heās quitting that bothers me, to be honest. itās the fact that heās quitting specifically because he feels like the public is being mean to him. thatās it.
seriously. it would be one thing if he was quitting because he was scared, because now that is human. nobody wants to die, and I doubt any amount of training can ever fully prepare someone to go up against that fear. but the thing is, he never once mentions that, or talks about the danger aspect. instead, I got the distinct vibe from this speech that Death Arms is one of those people who only became a hero because of the limelight. and I just donāt have any patience for that. if all you care about are likes and subscribes then go become a fucking youtuber or some shit. nothing wrong with that! but you didnāt; you signed up to be a hero and protect these people. they gave you their respect and admiration because they trusted you to protect them. and now that theyāre no longer in the mood to worship and applaud your every move on account of them being scared shitless because theyāre living in the literal end times, you decide to dip. so like okay, fine then. donāt let the door hit you on the way out. anyways lol sorry for the rant.)
anyway so yeah. perfect example of why I donāt exactly have a ton of faith in most of the remaining heroes out there lol. also let me just once again give a shoutout to my best girl Mt. Lady whom I suddenly find myself appreciating all the more
āplease calm down makeste. drink some water and enjoy this fresh new jeans punā listen Horikoshi donāt tell me what to do dammit
fine. it is a nice pun, I guess
-- damn so now Endeavorās saying that the media is already being fed info by the retired heroes. so for some of these guys it wasnāt enough for them to abandon all the people they swore to protect and to leave their fellow heroes out in the cold; they decided they might as well actively make things worse for them while they were at it, huh. like I get wanting to spill all the dirty secrets from your old job that you just quit, but this isnāt Jeff Bezos youāre screwing over, this is a sixteen-year-old kid
-- like, yes!! this, right here!!
exactly!! letās not forget that there are already two prior instances of this happening. Endeavor arguably deserved it, but Katsuki not so much
huh. Endeavor seems to have a more optimistic outlook regarding this than I do lol
I mean, this is the same public that didnāt hesitant to blame a kidnapped child for his own kidnapping, and then later on for being the downfall of the Symbol of Peace. but okay then
anyway so blah blah blah, more talk about how they need to use Deku as bait, which basically puts them back at square one, and then theyāre all just trailing off into silence and sitting around in the dark lmao this is getting very depressing
SKDJFLSDKJ:LFKJ
SHOUTO?????
NOOOOOOOO ARE YOU KIDDING ME
OH HOW THE TURNTABLES OMG. THE GHOSTER HAS BECOME THE GHOSTEE. Endeavor you petty son of a bitch. and what a brutal cut to that flashback too. āletās stop Touya togetherā nah Shouto Iāve got a better idea why donāt I abandon you in U.A. and sally off with Hawks and Jeanist to found the āletās pretend like weāre doing something to help Dekuā club, which basically consists of us sitting around making terrible decisions all day long
Shouto, honey. you deserve better my little Coca Cola can. .........but if you really do have something important you need to tell your dad you could just text it to him. all the love and support, hugs and kisses, youāre doing amazing sweetie. but if you need to pass on any vital information you can just write it down and hit send honey thatās all Iām saying love
now heās getting another call?? -- or, no, Hawks is getting a call from All Might
ARE YOU FOR REAL HAWKS OMFG
so while you all were sitting around talking about how useless you are, the kid youāre supposed to be protecting was battling another hired gun. I see. please pardon me for one second, I have a phone call to make. the phone call is to RockLockRock and Manual. the reason for the call is to apologize for calling them the worst bodyguards ever back during the War arc. the reason for the apology is because it turns out I WAS SEVERELY MISTAKEN OMFG
JESUS CHRIST DEKU DID YOU JUST KILL THIS MAN LMAO
shoutout to Horikoshi for offscreening this fight. we get it, lol. Deku strong and scary, villains ineffectual and feeble, and AFO... [checks notes] yep, still a dick. the angst arc continues
-- the angst arc continues, SIR
jesus christ I may have to rethink all of my opinions about Deku being framed for murder in movie 3 lmao. never mind. he did it, your honor
holy fucking shit Deku. āhe might blow up, so please be carefulā fdlskjflk jlskdjflk lwkejflk anyway so Iāve decided the explosion running gag can stay, actually
DEKU WAIT YOU FORGOT YOUR LUNCH!!
lol why do I get the feeling some serious shit is about to go down. ALL MIGHT NEVER MIND BACK OFF I THINK HE NEEDS HIS SPACE
OH MY FUCK I GASPED OUT LOUD
NO NO NO. I KNEW THIS WAS COMING GODDAMMIT BUT NO. NEVER MIND, I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT IT, IāM NOT READY TO CRY TODAY
shit. shit shit shit shit and OF COURSE all I can fucking think about is that stupid fucking prophecy and gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Deku please. please please please if you really are going to leave All Might here, please be so very careful in choosing your farewell words to him now because have this sudden horrible fear that this might be the last time you ever see him alive and oh god. oh god oh god
DEKU NO, YOUāRE REALLY NOT!?!?
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE LESS FINE IN MY LIFE, ACTUALLY????
holy shit. and the fucking callback to the prophecy now. just in case we forgot. WHICH FYI, WE DIDNāT. but thatās basically confirming that this is all still very much on the table and HORIKOSHI NEVER FORGETS oh my god someone please hold me
and the fact that Dekuās flashing back to it now too, though?? because he never forgot either, because of course he didnāt, and now all this stuff is happening, and AFOās words are getting to him, and this is literally his worst fear come to life and so of course heās distancing himself from everyone, and now itās finally come to even this. even the person he admires most
-- OKAY NO, FUCKING COME ON ALREADY I CANāT TAKE THIS
I GET IT OH MY GOD, I ALREADY UNDERSTAND THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF THIS MOMENT WITHOUT ALL OF THE DEVASTATING FLASHBACKS THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! YOU ACTUALLY DO WANT ME TO CRY, HUH, IS THAT IT. THIS MAN THAT HE THINKS OF AS A FATHER, THIS MAN WHO HAS BEEN EVERYTHING TO HIM SINCE HE WAS A VERY YOUNG CHILD. EVERYTHING THEYāVE BEEN THROUGH, JUXTAPOSED AGAINST EVERYTHING DEKU IS UP AGAINST, EVERYTHING THATāS AT RISK. LETāS JUST PUT IT ALL SIDE BY SIDE. LETāS JUST PILE ON ALL OF THE FEELS
(ETA: just a quick note that even though some of the posts Iāve read have described these as All Mightās flashbacks, Iām pretty sure they are Dekuās. most of these are scenes that only he was there for, so yeah. even though All Might is the one thinking the thoughts on the next page, the flashbacks are whatās running through Dekuās mind right now, and so weāre getting that emotion from both of them, which makes it extra devastating lol.)
wait, what???
WHAT??? do you really think thatās why heās been so determined to protect you this entire time?? simply because youāre his successor?
-- oh no wait lol I think I got that mixed up, this is All Might saying that Deku feels the need to protect him. well that makes more sense lol
oh my god I cannot
his last words. his last words to him. and we canāt even see if he is smiling, like All Might always encouraged him to do. but what are the odds he canāt actually bring himself to do it. what are the odds heās actually crying. oh god this scene is going to rip my heart out and STOMP on it in the anime isnāt it. Dekuās VA is going to full on murder me with emotion. not that thereāll be much of me left to murder after the thorough job that Horikoshi has already done here
YOUāRE CRYING. DEKU IS LEAVING ALL MIGHT AND IGNORING HIS OUTSTRETCHED HAND AND YOUāRE CRYING. AND BY āYOUā I MEAN āMEā, FUCK
nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope no words just feels just a big olā pile of feels. I do not have the strength. future me... [broadly gestures] good luck with all that
(ETA: LOL, WELL THEN.
what breaks my heart here is All Might. All Might, and everything heās been through, and history repeating itself, and forcing him to live this moment from both sides because he wasnāt strong enough to fix things.
Toshinori had only just turned eighteen when Nana died. like, I feel like we donāt mention this enough. the All Might we know is a sixty-something-year-old man, and so everyone always talks about him like heās basically been an adult forever. but he was a child when he met Nana. and he was still just a child when she died. barely a year older than Deku is now. younger than Mirio was when we first met him.
and we donāt talk about that. we donāt talk about how devastating that was for him. and we donāt talk about how the reason he grew up to become so reserved and withdrawn -- for all that he always tried so hard to outwardly project the image of a bold, confident, smiling hero -- was specifically because of what AFO did to him. because AFO targeted him in the exact way that he is now targeting Deku. because thatās what he does. he goes after every new user of OFA, and he finds out whatās most important to them, and then he destroys it. and for Toshinori, that was Nana. if youāve read All Might Rising, you know that AFO basically killed her in front of him (and only killed her, while letting Toshinori and Gran get away). Toshinori (while crying) later says she was like a mother to him. and interestingly enough, during this same conversation, Gran tells Toshinori that he can see āthat madness in [his] eyesā when Toshi talks about becoming strong enough to defeat AFO. madness in his eyes. sound familiar??
whatās happening to Deku now is the exact same thing that happened to Toshinori when he was a boy. AFO tried every bit as hard to break him as heās trying with Deku now. āthe path youāve chosen is a thorny one. every battle grinds away at your soul with no end in sight.ā we donāt talk about how Toshinori experienced this same thing for forty fucking years. and all the while isolating himself, exactly like Deku is doing now. pushing people away, exactly like Deku. because he never had anyone who was able to reach out and pull him back. and those words that he now finds himself frozen and unable to speak -- ādonāt push yourselfā; āyou can restā -- are the same words that no one ever said to him until decades later, when it was already far too late to make any difference.
everything that Deku is experiencing now is what Toshinori also went through. and itās only now, as he watches it happen to his student, the boy he loves like a son, that heās finally starting to realize the full extent of how wrong it was. you shouldnāt have to fight alone. you shouldnāt have to bear that kind of enormous burden alone. you shouldnāt have to push yourself, and you can rest. you can rest.
but itās too late. just as heās finally coming to understand it all, itās all too fucking late. and he canāt say the words, he doesnāt know how to say the words, and then just like that, Deku is gone.
and heās alone. again.)
I canāt. this canāt be their goodbye. Iām not ready. for this to be how they finally part, and then they never see each other again except in OFA. how is that fair. how is that fair. how is that fair
fuck me. lol. how many pages are left in this thing. letās just wrap this up lol. so now of all the times for this fucking guy to finally show up
I canāt believe Stain has been here literally this entire time hiding behind this random wall and cutting onions. that was you who was cutting the onions, right. no need to answer that weāll just say it was
HORIKOSHI JUST END THE CHAPTER PLEASE IāM OUT OF SPOONS. YOU HURT ME SO GOOD AND I LOVE YOU FOR IT BUT YOU NEED TO LET ME GO NOW SO I CAN BEGIN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO PUT MY LIFE BACK IN ORDER HERE. SO WHERE ARE WE CUTTING TO NOW WHAT IS HAPPENING
Stain did you also let AFO give you a new quirk. whatās with you guys. do you like blowing up
oh nvm lol because they were talking about THIS GUY ohhhhhh my fucking god
THATāS BECAUSE HEāS SAD, LINDA!! jesus
omfg. and so yes, good, the chapter is ending here now on page 15. for once I am FULLY on board with that lmao
anyway so tune in next week for more adventures of Werewolf Deku!! that is, assuming we donāt finally cut back to U.A. at long last, which is actually a strong possibility considering that this chapter will likely mark the end of volume 31. it sure wouldnāt kill Horikoshi to start giving us some hope after everything heās just put us through lol. KACCHAN COME GET YA BOY

As Pride Month comes to a close, itās time I spoke candidly about my experience at Marvel Comics.
To date, Iāve always been honest about the joy of writing Icemanās journey as an out gay superhero, but Iāve skirted around the challenges that came along with it. This is partially because I prefer to give off an upbeat vibe, and thereās also a fear that my truth will affect my career. With more corporations patting themselves on the back for profit-led partnerships wherein celebrities take selfies in rainbow apparel, and with buzz that Marvel Studios is preparing to debut their first gay character in the upcoming Eternals movie, there is an urgency to discuss the realities of creating queer pop culture in a hostile or ambivalent environment. Hopefully, my takeaways will serve as a guide for people in positions of power to consider when advocating for more nuanced and rich representation. In an ideal world, embracing our stories and empowering us to tell them will yield far more profitable (and way less messy) results than what I encountered while writing Iceman.
Stand by your people
Itās no surprise that I got the attention of trolls and irate fans for taking on this job. There was already backlash around the manner in which Bobby Drake aka Iceman came out, and Marvel needed to smooth that landing and put a āso whatā to the decision. After a point, I could almost laugh off people making light of my death, saying they have "cancerous AIDS" from my book, or insinuating Iām capable of sexual assaultā¦ almost. Between Icemanās cancellation and its subsequent revival, Marvel reached out and said they noticed threatening behavior on my Twitter account (only after asking me to send proof of all the nasty shit popping up online). An editor called, these conversations always happen over the phone, offering to provide ātips and tricksā to deal with the cyber bullying. I cut him off. All he was going to do was tell me how to fend for myself. I needed Marvel to stand by me with more work opportunities to show the trolls that I was more than a diversity hire. āWeāll keep you in mind.ā I got so tired of that sentence.Ā
Even after a year of the new editor-in-chief saying I was talented and needed to be on a book that wasnāt āthe gay character,ā the only assignment I got outside of Iceman was six pages along, about a version of Wolverine where he had diamond claws. Fabulous, yes. Heterosexual, yes. Still kind of the gay character, though.
We as creators are strongly encouraged to build a platform on social media and use it to promote work-for-hire projects owned by massive corporationsā¦ but when the going gets tough, these dudes get going real quick.Ā
Believe in the work
You may be asking if my Iceman book was any good, or if Iām just being sour grapes over a bad work experience. Believe me, I asked that, too. From the get-go, my first editor asserted that Iceman would be DOA if it were ātoo gay,ā while also telling me to prepare for a cancellation anyway, given that most solo X-Men titles donāt last beyond a year. Never mind that my work on Iceman had gotten positive press in the New York Times (in-print), or that in spite of (since-deleted) critical sandbagging, the series nets glowing reviews on Amazonā¦ Marvel still treated me as someone to be contained, and the book as something to be nervous about. Do you know how hard it is to not argue with a publicist when heās explaining the value of announcing Icemanās revival via the Marvel homepage? Sis, thatās a burial. Instead of clapping back, I just went and got myself more press from the New York Times. From there, they tightened my leash. I had to get all opportunities pre-approved, and all interviews pre-reviewed. This would be fine if it was the standard, but I assure you: none of my straight male colleagues seek permission to go on podcasts promoting their books.Ā
What Marvel should have done is assign me a special projects editor. They should have worked with a specialty PR firm, rather than repeat a tiresome cycle of treating the book like a square peg, and getting confused when itās a hit.Ā
Give us a real seat at the table
There was a moment before Iceman was cancelled where I wrote then-editor-in-chief Axel Alonso an email, pleading for a Hail Mary arc. I explained that Iceman was landing with a newer generation of readers who focused more on binge-reading than month-to-month periodicals. The series needed time in the book market before its true strength could be assessed. To Axelās credit, he was warm to the idea and even gave me an extra month, but when he left Marvel that idea got brushed away. Of course I was right. The first two volumes sold like gangbusters thanks to word-of-mouth, librarian love, and support from retailers big and small.Ā
When the series returned, no one at Marvel asked me: āWhat do you think landed with readers?ā Nor did they ask the question that Axel did: āWhat matters to your community?ā So when I wrote what I thought the fans would be into, a story about a man learning to be a better ally in the war against hate, editorial totally missed its value.
Seat at the table pt II: The Shade of it all
All of the weird drama I put up with crystallized when I created a drag queen mutant, first called Shade, now called Darkveil. I told my editor that Shade would be a big deal for X-Fans, and asked how we should promote her. He said: āleave it up to the readerās interpretation.ā Everyone at Marvel shrugged off two years of goodwill and acted like Iād coordinated behind their backs on an announcement that made headlines. Beyond mentioning on Instagram the queens who inspired the character, I didnāt coordinate shit. Of course, their head publicist canāt admit that my quotes were pre-approved from an unreleased interview. At this point, I stopped believing that thereād be any more work for me. There were so many shady moves on their end that Iām still having trouble putting into language, but it all aligned with an experience I had in retail where a corrupt manager kept lying and moving the goal posts in order to keep me selling in a department I didnāt want to work in. I offered to give Darkveil a proper character bio, and I walked away.Ā Ā
I recognize that some of my complaints can be filed under āthis is freelance life.ā I am aware that it was not a queer person of color who joked to me that āitās not a matter of if Marvel fucks you over, itās a matter of when.ā That came from a cis white male. The same-day turn-arounds without warning, the work emails on Christmas weekā¦ thatās the freelance bullshit. Truly, I donāt even think of this as discrimination, I call it general ineptness. It is my belief that if we are telling stories about heroes doing the right thing in the face of adversity, wouldnāt the hope be to embody those ideals as individuals? Instead of feeling like I worked with some of the most inspiring and brave people in comics, I was surrounded by cowards.Ā
Truly, I hate writing this. In keeping with Pride Month, I am proud of the work I did on Iceman...Ā I love the book! It sucks that I may be tarnishing its legacy going public about how the cookies were made. That said, the time for self-congratulating is over, and folks should be earnestly listening when they ask: what could we have done better?Ā

TWB 1x08 + TTD Clues
Hey Everyone! So here, at last, is my TWB post. Sorry it took me an extra day to get it finished. But before I get into the awesome TD symbolism, I want to say something. Today is Thanksgiving in the states. Itās a day we eat lots of good food and appreciate everything we have and tell each other what weāre thankful for.
So today, I just want to say that Iām extremely thankful for this fandom and for all my lovely followers and fellow TDers. Itās been such a huge part of my life for these past years. Itās kept me company and shaped me in ways even I probably donāt appreciate. So thank you so much for all being on this journey with me. Iāve no doubt that our girl is coming home. And soon!
Okay, onto the episode. First, a quick run-down. Most of the episode is centered around whether or not Silas killed Tony and what theyāre going to do about it. We do get a humdinger of a twist at the end: Huck is a double agent.
I rewatched part of episode 1 because I thought I remembered the lieutenant colonel (Julia Ormond ā Iāll just call her LC, okay?) saying something to the girls about having a kid. And she did. Itās in the scene where Hope and Iris talk to her in the dark, still back at the University, and she gives them the map. She says she has a daughter whoās older than them and who is a soldier from the CRM, so sheās away from her mother a lot and LC misses her. Guess who that daughter is? Itās Huck. So, sheās been a spy for LC this whole time, and has been living at the university colony specifically to do her spying. When she āscouts aheadā of the group, sheās often reporting back to her mother.
LC asks Huck how āthe assetā is and Huck says the asset is fine. My fellow theorists and I talked about who the asset actually is, and weāve agreed that itās probably Hope. I think the most obvious answer is Iris, because sheās more the āmainā character and the one LC connected with the most in episode 1. But I think thatās misdirection.Ā
Not only because of the flashback conversation Hope had with her dad, where he hinted there might be something she needed to know that he hadnāt told her, but also because Huck is always with Hope. Sheās the one Huck is friends with. Anytime the group splits up to check things out or look for supplies, Huck goes with Hope. Like sheās protecting her or something. So Ā for now, our theory is that Hope is the āasset.ā
But letās turn to Silas. We finally get flashbacks as to what happened with his father. And this is where more his Daryl-ness comes in. His father was super abusive. Silas beat him up in a fit of rage/self-defense. And while his father didnāt die immediately (it wouldnāt be fair to say Silas actually beat him to death) he died later of his injuries. And then as a walker, he attacked Silasās mother and Silas had to put him down. Itās all pretty brutal and you understand why Silas is kinda messed up.
The point is, he has rage blackouts. Thatās what happened with his dad. Silas goes into a rage and actually blacks out and, for at least a time, doesnāt remember what happened. So in the episode, even Silas thinks he probably killed Tony and Percy. I donāt think he did. The best evidence is that, when it happened with his dad, he didnāt remember what happened immediately, but within a few minutes, it does come back, and he remembers what he did.
In this episode, he doesnāt remember what happened with Tony and Percy, and it never comes back to him. And they specifically show us that thatās not how it worked with his dad. So, Iām thinking someone hit him over the head and thatās why he doesnāt remember: he didnāt do anything. But even he doesnāt believe that.
So, this struck me as being Silasās Them episode. Heās super sad, hates himself, grieving a lot of things, and at one point even sort of gives up and is going to let a walker bite him until Hope shows up and saves him.
But the biggest thing is that he leaves at the end. Felix and Huck are trying to decide whether to leave him behind or not. They donāt want to, but they donāt know much about him and, in their eyes, he could be dangerous. Even if he doesnāt mean to, he could have another rage blackout and hurt someone.
Iris talks to him and says ājust tell me you didnāt kill anyone and Iāll believe you.ā He says he canāt because he thinks he might have done it. Then he just leaves so heās not a burden on them anymore.
TONS of Beth dialogue at this point. Iris says heās āgone.ā He says heās glad he got to know Iris (what Beth said of Zack in 4x01). So he leaves by himself and Elton wants to go with him (Hope finally confesses to Elton about his mother, so this episode ends very sad).
But hereās the real kicker, guys. At the end, we see Silas walking through the woods by himself, and heās wearing his headphones. A walker comes toward him. The walker immediately caught my attention because itās blond and female. Truly, it wasnāt any more or less Bethish than any other blond walker weāve seen, but it still jumped out at me after all the other Beth symbolism around Silas in this episode.
He grabs a board or a branch and kills it. Doesnāt seem like that big a deal. He does injure it in the forehead, but itās on the right side. And you know, no gun or anything.Ā
But then, at the VERY end, it shows the walker lying in the road up close and we see Silas walking away in the distance.Ā
And then it pans over, and his walkman and headphones are on the ground next to the walker. He left them behind.Ā
And the thing is, I donāt know why. Did he just abandon the music? Or did it stop working? I almost wonder if the walkman broke when he was fighting the walker.
If thatās the case, itās a MASSIVE parallel to the broken music box. Lying next to the blond walker. With the forehead wound.
See why Iām having feels about this episode?Ā
So, either heās just a massive Beth proxy, or heās heading toward wherever she is. I almost feel like the writers are telling us Silas is heading toward Beth. (And granted, Iām not at all objective about this; itās totally my TD hopefulness kicking in. But thereās one other reason I think this could be a thing. Iāll come back to it in a minute.)
Huck said something weird, too. When Iris told everyone Silas had left, Huck asks Felix, āDo you think heāll change his mind and come back for us?ā Itās just a weird way to word it. Why would he need to come back for them? Besides, theyāre going to look for the girlsā dad, so theyāre not going to hang around in the same place.
I feel like thatās definitely a foreshadow on the writersā part. And it really may just be a Silas/plot thing. But it suggests that at some point heāll return to save the group in some way. ā¦Which is exactly what weāve always thought about Beth, no?
Letās talk about Percy for a minute. They couldnāt find his body, but thereās a trail of blood that ends at the river. The thing is, theyāre all assuming Percy is dead. They think either heās a walker and staggered away, in which case the river current simply took him. Or that even if he was alive when he staggered away, he was wounded, and no one can survive the riverās currents and undertow. If he went in wounded, heās probably dead anyway.
It just stuck out to me that thatās EXACTLY what we think happened with Beth. The group went back for her, didnāt find her body, but maybe some blood or a trail that Daryl followed for a time, searching for her. But theyāre assuming she died/staggered away as a walker (hence blond tree walker in 5x15) but they never found a body.
I siriusly doubt Percy is actually dead. Itās just meant to look like he is. And my main theory throughout the episode was that Percy must have killed Tony and framed Silas. No idea why heād do that, but weāve already discussed that Percy has kind of a sinister vibe about him, and Iām happy just going with it and waiting for them to eventually explain what happened and why.
But the reveal about Huck at the end throws a wrench in things. We have a second suspect, now. I still donāt know why, exactly, she would kill Tony and either kill or attempt to kill Percy, but the two of them did know a lot about CRM resources and were kind of flouting their rebelliousness and thievery. If sheās loyal to the CRM (because LC is her mom) maybe that would be enough for her to kill them. Or maybe something else went down we have no idea about yet (kinda like at Grady?). Or maybe it really wasnāt her. No way to know, yet. But itās an interesting possibility.
There were plenty of other symbols to be had in this episode, but I donāt think I need to go over most of them, because by now you all know how to interpret them. Lots of stars.Ā
Boots. Pig references. Clocks. The scene where Elton and Iris talk and he tells her the stars she THINKS are dead are actually very much alive. (If thatās not on-the-nose, I donāt know what is.) And donāt forget the title: The Sky is a Graveyard. Lots of focus on the stars, including a shooting star indicative of Sirius, a blue bird toy at the playground, a song called āThe Crosses Made.ā Oh, and there were tons of dinosaurs behind Silas, especially in his room in flashbacks, which was interesting.
So yeah, you get the idea.
I said I had one other reason to think Silas might be heading toward Beth, right? Well, this didnāt come from the episode. Rather, it came from TTD, which they did for both FTWD and TWB this past week.
Among others, the actor who plays Silas (Hal Cumpston) was on. At the very end, as Chris Hardwick always does, he asked what the actors could tease about the rest of the season. Various answers were given, but Hal Cumpston said, āRick.ā
Now, donāt anyone freak out. The way he said it, laughingly, made it obvious he wasnāt being serious. He was teasing. It actually reminded me a lot of Lauren Ridloff being asked about Connie and Daryl and teasing a shower scene. The huge grin on her face is what letās you know thatās not actually happening. Sheās just having fun teasing fans about it. This was similar.
And letās be real: if Rick WERE going to show up in TWB, no way theyād let this kid spoil that for everyone.
But one other possibility comes to mind: Beth. I have no idea if sheās what he was alluding to, but given the ānew sheriff in townā symbolism and how interchangeable Rick and Beth symbolism is, it wouldnāt surprise me. I could be wrong, of course. Iām just throwing it out there as a possibility.
And given how many Beth parallels were in this episode, to have him say this on the TTD right after? Yeah, giving this a long, hard, side-eye.
Thatās all I have for today. Happy Turkey Day, everyone! Ā

hello everyone, here are some very rough sketches of hare Messenger/caravan friends. i wanna draw more of these because iāve finally settled on a general design and now iām ready to get wacky with them.
but first.
it is time for lore.
this isnāt everything i want to say about hares and caravans and their relationship with rabbits and the above ground world but i figure itās a start. so welcome to Hare Caravans: a short history intertwined with landscaping and postal work.
The beginnings of a journey: staying above ground where all the things that want to kill you are is good actually.
The first hare leveret was born at about the same time as the first rabbit kit. Some say that the two litters were only a nest apart, or that they were even reared together. No one is quite sure of the exact times and distances though because the only people there were the Mothers, who are all gone now, and a few couple minute old gods, who while gods, were just dumb babies who had no idea that any of this would ever matter in the future.
The main thing of importance is that in the beginning there were rabbits and hares in the same general area dealing with the same general existence bullshit and for some reason instead of wising up and going underground like the rabbits, the hares decided (in what had to be a blinding species-wide wave of spite and wanderlust because letās be real they are EVEN TWITCHIER than rabbits) to stay above ground, learn to do sick stunts, and make the world Deal With Them.
Both rabbits and hares are naturally very quick on their feet but hares are faster and ridiculously acrobatic. They were able to live above ground on the island for so long because even though they still got got every now and then, they were able to juke their way to survival most of the time. But this made hares very solitary. Theyāre a little more resistant to fear death but itās still a thing that happens and stress took less hares than youād think but more hares than youād hope. They didnāt have the guaranteed safety of the rabbitsā warrens to relax in and itās hard to build a stable community when a group = a delicious easy target for predators. Thatās where the Messengers came in.
The Messengers At first they were merely a small guild of traveling hares that worked as sort of builders/landscapers/proto-postalworkers. Everything about them was kept pretty hush hush and their founder, a tall albino hare who even then everyone suspected had been doing this job way before this job had a name, wasnāt much into discussing the business to those they didnāt deem prospective hires. This made them one of, if not the first, secret society on the island.
The Messengers would collect and deliver letters, small items, and general news from different parts of the island, packing their cargo on quick beetle steads and leading them through the night to distant territories. When they got to a new area they set up cryptic signs and elaborately camouflaged tents that served as pop-up meeting places for whoever was passing through. They were hardworking, crafty, sleep deprived, respectful of their clientsā privacy, and their slogan: āI might only be stopped by death and then I only might beā has persisted as an empowering and slightly threatening mantra for the hares, rabbits, and now vultures who continue in their stead. Truly strong roots for modern island derived postal work.
The Outposts Now when I said those first Messenger-built tents were camouflaged I mean that they were functionally, borderline rage inducingly, invisible. Messengers would arrange entire false landscapes around their tents and the tents themselves were made of thick woven mats covered in layers of cultivated moss, fungus, and various bits of predator-offensive local vegetation for an optimal āthis is totally a normal danger bush please piss offā vibe. Some of their later outposts(where modern āpostalā work gets its name)included hidden doorways on seemingly regular boulders, clusters of reeds hiding entrances to submerged airtight rooms, and that one open grove near the Center that looked like nothing until you inevitably walked smack into an expertly painted wall like a dang cartoon character. That was the Head Messengerās favorite outpost (and the most entertaining to watch from afar).
Most of these places got wrecked by time but some people say that the grove outpost still exists, much to the irritation of local postal workers. This is just an urban legend. Their official stance is that the place was destroyed in a storm shortly after the hares all left the island, and a search of the grove certainly supports their exasperated claims that nothing is there anymore. But there are also no ruins of any sort in the grove and to this day the rare rabbit or vulture will come back from their travels with stories about face planting into air and discovering a weird old building that contained nothing but a single black envelope. Again, the island postal service says these are all just urban legends and nothing more.
But also, maybe just keep away from the area and if you see any black envelopes please contact your nearest postal worker asap.
The Signs Since the outposts were so hidden, if you werenāt lucky enough to stumble into one or you didnāt notice the appearance of a New Bush, then you had to look for the signs. A stack of flat stones or a single hare antler tipped with black were signals that a Messenger was visiting. These items would always be at the base of a tree or some other large immovable object where the Messenger would use paint made with Medicās Eye fungi spores to draw directional symbols that would light up momentarily when the surface was tapped. Before they left the Messenger would always recollect and scrub away their sign materials. Just leaving up signs was irresponsible, as future Messengers might set up in a different spot and conflicting signs would be confusing. Also, bandits might use abandoned signs to lure victims into ambushes. Very few bandits ever had the chance to do this since Messengers were diligent about erasing their signs and very few of them escaped the Messengers if they found out which hooligans had betrayed the peopleās trust in mail, but still.
The birth of caravans and getting creative At the outposts, hares would collect their mail, talk amongst themselves, and generally spend leisure time with their brethren without the threat of danger. The outposts were (purposefully) hard to find, only stayed open for a day or two at most, and the messengers had a serious lack of chill due to their busy schedules, but people really loved them. As interest in these meeting spots grew trade increased, people grew closer(within reason, hares were still real solitary at that point), and eventually caravans were created to make setting up these pop-up marketplaces/communities easier.
Of course by this point the safest spots had small permanent outposts Ā with a rotating staff of guard hares (and a few adventurous rabbits). But hares were too twitchy to leave whole towns justā¦there. Out in the open. Permanently. A house canāt run. Or at least most houses canāt run. Who in their right mind would want long term shelter you canāt pick up and take with you? But a vehicle? Strap a streamlined wagon to a strong beetle, or better yet get a walking worm that can really sprint, and now youāre in business(some of the most beloved hare fables are about a witch who lived in a walking worm that ran around on pillyki legs). And so these hidden outposts became the center of constantly fluctuating camouflaged towns made of caravans.
The wagons and worms that inhabited these towns were reallyā¦a sight. Of course they were all the equivalent of speedwalking shrubbery, but the variation! The ingenuity! The application of literally whatever they found while rambling around! Closer looks revealed dead branch coverings held up by years of interlocking shed antlers and tied together with cast off scraps of green fabric that were coated with wax and artfully styled into very convincing leaves. Plants with woven roots for floors and branches for roofs were kept on shallow platforms of soil and molded into tiny but ever growing shacks. Walking worms resembling rotted logs filled fine garden lounges and stages and libraries and laundry rooms tiled with smooth bits of broken pottery. In a small tent that from the outside looks like three sticks and an unfortunate amount of wolf poop, a midwife helps deliver three healthy leverets. A wonderland made of pure natural beauty, art, and a little teeny tiny bit of collected travel garbage. Magnificent.
It really is too bad that most of the more fragile ones didnāt survive the trip to the mainland. Being successfully converted into boats was just not in the cards for them. Silver lining? They got to re-design them all over again with mainland materials. So even though true Island Vehicles are rare now theyāre all just as funky.
The Connections Caravan communities really changed hare society. They had always had culture and stories and art, but it was hard to enjoy any of that with frickinā wolves and owls on their heels 24/7. While families with younger children or disabled members traveled together, it was just so much safer to stay in small distant groups if you stayed in a group at all. This meant very little non trade or procreation mingling. The relative safety of the caravan towns gave birth to a wave of new art and culture exploration since people now had time, space, and input from so many new friends with similar interests in the same place. Itās amazing what you can do when you arenāt constantly running on survival mode and even though they had had access to friendly rabbit spaces before, it just wasnāt the same. Soon entire droves of hares started moving together in very loose communities. Wagons or worms never really right next to each other but all heading in the same direction on their own paths and coming back together at the end of their journeys. Close enough to run to a neighbor if need be but never clumped up. As these droves solidified, they each developed distinct new customs and skills, and the connections between members became as strong as any warren.
These connections are especially apparent in an old practice called Path Merging. Originally only done to seal peace treaties after the rare violent cross-caravan spat but now a common practice, if a single leveret is born (a rarity) they are paired with a single leveret of a similar age from a neighboring ally caravan and raised together. The pair travels back and forth all of their young lives, first with their mothers and then alone, living in their home caravans for different parts of the year. A few of these pairs stay together forever and some only part ways when they start their own families but ideally they at least make it to twenty years before calling for a separating ritual for the whole deal to be Solid. Similar to a diplomatic betrothal but based more on creating lifelong partners of any relationship type over setting up a marriage, this fostering of an intense bond from being the only true constants in each otherās lives is a show of good will and connection between their people. In a way they come to embody the essence of their community and as single litters are seen as a sign of pure hare independence and the old ways of their lost island home, these children are very powerful symbols.
It also means surefire preferential trading and aid from what are pretty much blood-contract bound allies.
These leverets are supposed to be raised like any other, but may receive a little special treatment in times of hardship to prove one caravansā dependability to the other. A pair being returned in bad condition or with tales of abuse can start or further irritate conflicts. A falling out between the bonded pair can also be disastrous but it happens. You usually have no idea if babies will just super hate each other once they learn what hate is! Or what life in general will throw at you! If everything else is fine but theyāre just not compatible people then after a while the caravan elders from both sides will come together and amicably agree to separate them. Although if one deeply wrongs or injures the other there can be someā¦dire consequences for the offending party that can splash back on their community depending on the situation. Hares almost always avoid war, but theyāre real big on justice.
Despite this intense ritual, hares are still hares. They travel together now but theyāre still kind of solitary creatures. Caravans are still pretty spaced out affairs, relying on radios and slime mold compasses to keep in touch when someone needs to wander away from the group for a bit. Outside of the usual life threatening issues, theyāre not really worried about wandering the untamed mainland alone.
Itās not really a big deal when you have somewhere to come back to.

Group(s): Sternritter

- Is your muse considered a threat: YES / NO ? Ā From whom?: Ā Soul Society and anyone with a working braincell. - Is your muse powerful: YES / NO ? Ā Could they be considered OP: Ā YES / NO ? - Did your muse commit any crimes: YES / NO ? - Does your muse think they are doing mostly the right thing: YES / NO ? - Would society think the same: YES / NO / MIXED OPINIONS ?
- Does your muse think they are treated unfairly: YES / NO ? - Does your muse feel understood from others: YES / NO ? - Is it important for them what others think of them as a person: YES / NO ? - Would they welcome death: Ā YES / NO ? - Will they ever find peace: Ā YES / NO ?
01.0. Ā Do they fully stand behind the group they are part of? YES / NO. Why is that? Explain: The Quincyās express a very grey area for Giselle, on the one hand they gave her her powers which she loves and adores greatly and uses to the extent where she canāt imagine life without such abilities, but they also remind her of past, which was painful and isolated and which she tried to separate from her adult self as much as she possibly could. As far as their goals of world domination and elimination of the Soul Reapers as revenge for the war which happened many years ago, Giselle does not care. Sheās here for a good time. Not a convoluted revenge fantasy sorta time!Ā
02.0. Ā Do they like as things are in Soul Society? YES / NO. 02.1. Ā Is there anything they would change? Explain here: Itās old and crusty and out of touch with reality. Even in her brief stint spent there, Giselle thought it was dull and very behind the times. Needs more flavour! More spice!
03.0. Would they ever actively try to bring change (in general)? YES / NO. 03.1. Is your muse more: passive / active ? Ā Introverted / Extroverted ? 03.2. Does your muse care more about: others / themselves ? 03.3. Do they trouble their mind over a lot of problems, others? YES / NO. 03.4. Do they mostly involve: the world / everyone / themselves / comrades / friends / family / elderly / kids / teenagers / home / workplace / strangers / souls / humans / quincy / shinigami / nobles / fullbringer / visored / hollows / espada / arrancar / (former) boss(es) / pets / animals / zanpakuto spirit / enemies / partner / lovers / soul king / god / otherā¦(add more) 03.5. Name (up to) three which are the most on their mind (optional, adding names): - girls - homicideĀ - what to eat for lunch
04.0. Do they think frequently about politics? YES / NO / SOMETIMES. Why is that? Explain: Giselle is too young to really care or understand the deeper ramifications and political systems at play within the Quincy hierarchy. She knows thereās an inner circle of Sternritterās closer to Yhwach, but it rarely effects her so she just ignores it. She grew up privileged and she knows that gives her the luxury to avoid thinking more deeply on certain issues. Being Echt she knows sheās technically above other Quincyās but doesnāt really get why or what purpose that gives anything she does.Ā
05.0. How do they feel in their current location: POSITIVE / NEGATIVE / NEUTRAL ? 05.1. Why is that?:Ā Without the Sternritters or Quincyās, Giselle has lost any real sense of purpose. Going back to her old life would almost certainly guarantee her capture by humans or Soul Reapers so sheās trying to find meaning or a goal that doesnāt revolve around the suffering of others and her own enjoyment of said suffering and its hard. At least sheās free.
06.0. Does your muse have any goal: YES / NO ? Ā BIG / SMALL ? 06.1. Does it involve anything world-changing: YES / NO ? 06.2. If goal or not, any future plans? Share here:Ā Get a mortician licence.
07.0. Does your muse know about the Original Sin of Soul Society*: YES / NO ? * curious? Read about it here. 07.1. If they knew, would it change their views on Soul Society: YES / NO ? 07.2. More: POSITIVE / NEGATIVE / NEUTRAL ?
08.0. Who is the worst person in their eyes?:Ā Yumichika. 08.1. What should happen to them? Ā Execution (quick / slow death) / Imprisonment / Stripped of their powers / Torture / Repay for their sins / Pay a Fine / Social Work / lose their loved ones / Exile / otherā¦ (add more). 08.2. Explanation:Ā There are a good number of other characters who handed Giselleās ass to her on a platter (Ichigo & Mayuri in particular), but thatās all part and parcel for a war. Even Yhwach who betrayed her and tried to kill her in the end still did her some good by giving her her powers. Above all, they still respected her most basic rights and identity. Yumichika she hates more deeply because he went low when it wasnāt warranted.
09.0. Thoughts on: Quincy Massacre if they knew: POSITIVE / NEGATIVE / NEUTRAL ? 09.1. Would they be alright with such thing happening again: YES / NO ? 09.2. Would they try to prevent it: YES / NO / DEPENDS ? 09.3. Explanation: The original Massacre happened too long ago for her to remember so sheās just kinda āMeh, sucks to suck!ā about it. Were there another attempt on a Quincy Massacre now, it would be a whole other thing because there arenāt very many Quincyās left really to exterminate so of course she would try to prevent another all out extermination on her end because it would put her life at risk.
10.0. Would they ever switch sides: YES / NO ? 10.1. If yes, What could bring them to do so?:Ā A personal betrayal. 10.2. Would they create a new one: YES / NO ? Ā or join a current one? If so, which:Ā She had to join the Soul Reapers, however briefly, to get into the Soul Kingās palace to kill get up toĀ Yhwach.
11.0. Does your muse follow a certain moral code*?: Ā YES / NO / GRAY AREA ? * (ethics) A written, formal, and consistent set of rules prescribing righteous behavior, accepted by a person or by a group of people. 11.1. What does it involve?: No transphobia. 11.2. What does it NOT involve?: Giselle is literally not above killing anything or anyone or making them do anything as her zombie. She is as depraved and cruel as you can imagine, if it brings her pleasure, sheāll do it.Ā Ā Ā
YOUR MUSEāS VIEWS / OPINIONS ON THESE GROUPS ?
Central 46: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because: she doesnāt engage with them enough to really know what they do or if theyāre fucked up on any deeper level.
Four Great Noble Clans: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because: same deal, she doesnāt interact with them enough to know what their problem is.Ā
Royal Guards / Gotei 13: Ā positive / negative / neutral . Ā ā Ā because: ghost cops deserve to die! Even if they teamed up in the end, they still took two of her friends hostage and used them in experimentation. Thatās fucked up. If she seeās a soul reaper, itās on sight.
Fullbringer: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Funky little humans with some flavour of hollow. Not expressly evil or aligned with soul reapers so she can vibe with them.Ā
Visored: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Same ghost cop, different hollow flavour. They make good zombies though.
Espada: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because: Ā All Quincyās have a sort of guttural negative reaction to hollows to try and reject them. Giselle is no different.Ā
Quincy: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Thatās her clique!Ā
YOUR MUSEāS VIEWS / OPINIONS ON THESE (IMPORTANT) PEOPLE ?
Aizen: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Dude who sat tied to a chair...ominously. Would make for a poor zombie.
Yhwach: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā He tried to kill her twice. Bad vibes.
Mayuri: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Too shiny and too annoying and too much of a book smarts and also stole all her sick zombies using science. Also experimented on two people she cares about so, die!
Kurosaki: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because:Ā Threw her through a building and broke her neck.
Soul King: Ā positive / negative / neutral. Ā ā Ā because: Big man in the sky that Yhwach tried to kill. Donāt know who he is or what he did, but eh. Maybe he had it coming.
CONGRATS, you managed till to the end, now tag your fellow bleach partners!

Credits are rolling as I type because I saw fit to forego capturing since I didnāt REALLY do a live playthrough on the blog and instead just showed off moments here and there.
Just wanted to say, that was damned good.
It gave off such a dnd vibe to me and since Iāve yet to indulge in that truly it was a nice romp.
But seriously, what an awesome game with even more potential if more were to come in the series. Phenomenal writing and a very simple but ingenious gimmick of making magic simple but full of potential since it interacts with the elements and environment. A+ stuff there.
Did get a chuckle out of the ending slides surrounding a CaC gaining divinity basically just sliding the camera onto the same image 6 times where it clearly would be different slides if you used a default character lol.
What to dwell on...
Combat in the game was phenomenal! But itās funny to me how it ended up in MY party.
Since I made the grave mistake of letting all the companions maintain their default classes I ended up with a rather eclectic combo and my OWN stubborness lead to me sticking to that for the most part.
Beardy as a full on warrior in the vein of my old WoW character. He ended up being a frigginā godsend to the team since I ended up going more physical damage than magic (but still a 2/2 split team count wise TECHNICALLY).
Going heavy in 2h weapons and stength just resulted in him tearing everyone apart at a moments notice all while having his hand on that idol of resurrection so I could literally never be too risky with him. (A touch of a difficulty equalizer in some cases and complete nullification in other instances sadly)
Beast ended up molded to straight hydro for heals all while wielding the biggest shield I could manage at any moment and stacking con/int. He was bulky, sure, but didnāt really abuse that much and instead spent every battle freezing everyone with freezing blast and rain, or saying screw it and using blood rain with his torturer perk so everyone bled while he spammed heals. It was effective but mostly just CC.
Fane was the second MVP if not total MVP? Beardy really did the most all said, but Fane? A Necessity At All Times.
He was holding the second idol, though rarely needed it (neither did Beardy to be honest, but still).
Fane went all in on summoning, and aero as his secondary for when he ran out of spells etc.
His incarnate was insane through this run, I love how summoning can honestly give you either a huge physical damage output buff or any element you please. His summoning is why my 2/2 split party ended up leaning heavy on physical, because it made more sense to abuse a physical incarnateās output than to constantly grab a water one (for restoration magic and water damage) or fire or whatever else.
Having powerful shock spells was nice too. But mostly he summoned and then buffed his summons. I INTENDED to stack some poison related spells on someone for healing him, but Fane ended up going the entire game after act 1 without healing outside of bottles and he did just fine. God that sleeping bag or what have you is op for out of combat and who needs healing in combat when you have an insta-rez on death and tons of damage going out.
Oh and by the end I decided to spend like 144k on a ring with 1/3rd the magic defense on it because he permanently poisoned him. So that was nice.
Sibelle did fuck all the whole time.
Which is rude to say, sure, and youād be right to say that. I ended up enjoying Sibās character and she did put out some nice burst damage in physical form at the start of most fights.
But I never gave her a chance and it shows. (in terms of build).
She joined as a worthless rogue with no invis or survivability and dual wield burst being her only tool, and instead of fixing that with some invis or survivability, I saidĀ āSure, Sib. Youāre a lethal assassin. Tell me how that works out.ā and she proceeded to spend like 60-70% of the fights in the game face down in the pavement because after her initial burst of damage sheād die and I couldnāt be arsed to care.
She lived the final fight just fine though, go figure. She didnāt go down once and actually pulled her weight for more than just the first round. How novel a concept, Sib. Maybe next time grab some other talents outside of just scoundrel and dual wield.
What a self burn where I say I stubbornly made a bad character and itās their fault. lol
Speaking of those idols real quick, it cracks me up how the one fight I completely botched was saved by them. When I ran into the paladin leader in the basement I decided to take him out since I heard he was with the black ring prior. I killed HIM just fine, but the rest of them were 2-3 levels above me and were rough as all hell.
Eventually it was Beardy, alone, in a corner, surrounded, and after like an hour of combat he finally fell. Everyone de-aggroād. He rezzed with the idol. And I calming rezzed my team and walked out having killed the only person I needed to (and a couple extra). That was an amusing moment.
I love how the game would occasionally, with a straight face, do the most fantasy trope things possible and it felt FRESH since no one would dare do them today.
Things like trolls guarding bridges and a lot more Iām blanking on because of the credits rolling. I just appreciated that and found it really fun.
Credits just finished so I was reminded of the gift bags and what a damned shame!
When I first read up on them it was through a video showcasing how they can break the game etc A vid Iām sure someone would be aware of it they were aware of the subject matter.
Apparently at one point you could use them whenever to change and add features and still get credit for achievements/trophies etc. But that changed at some point so all these interesting gameplay tweaks are just sullied by you not getting credit for stuff.
Sure, thatās dumb of me to imply, but you know Iām right. No matter how much we fight the implication that trophies matter they still do to some degree. I, for one, like scrolling through them as a sort of list of past exploits, I even get some nice memories from doing just that, but activate a bag and you donāt get to write down that achievement.
Meaningless, sure, but enough of a dissuasion to prevent me doing it :/ For now at least. They really are a list of fun features to toggle! But why I harp on it is that some seem like 100% quality of life and nothing else and you still canāt use them without it disabling trophies :/ Things likeĀ āSprintā for moving about the world faster, lord.
Achievements are such a stain on gaming, I swear. For a hundred reasons, and for making some like myself in this instance AVOID fun because we donātĀ āget creditā oh fuck off trophy. If you didnāt exist Iād have had more fun, hence why going back to play older titles that donāt have them is such a pure joy.
Bleh. I play into it AND hate it.
Anyways.
Whatās there to say. Divinity 2 was a blast, I do wish for a more refined one later on but this was such a unique experience none the less.
Roughly 110 hours of gameplay (minus AFK time I do in damn near every game so Iāll say it was like 100 hours) and Iām left too speechless to say half the things that came to mind while playing. Darn it.
A+ stuff. Iām honestly still impressed that such a content loaded single player experience is ACTUALLY all that and able to do 4 player coop.
Sure itās technically understandable, but in terms of what games, you know, generally do? Thatās unthinkable to me. Thatās the kind of thing thatās reserved for tabletop, hence my early mention of dnd. You donāt usually see a story driven things like this being coop on console- and if you do itās lightly handled in a way where the coop player doesnāt matter. Like Fable 2 henchmen, or Fable 3 where the coop player might as well not exist and just shows up to do fights and follow the main player.
Thatās the term.
Most coop rpgs have the MAIN player and then coop buds assuming they implement coop.
This game is more of a 4 MAIN players all at once situation and Iām entirely unfamiliar with that in gaming other than tabletop.
OBVIOUSLY this wasnāt too much of a big deal for my single player playthrough, but other than that it was almost always on my mind and lead to me starting 2 other runs with friends :) (that both pretty much died out because they both struggle to find time to play games as is so sitting down and coordinating 3 people for 2 separate coop runs of a 100 hour game wasnāt really happening- now I understand dnd groups pain lol)
Enough rambling when I admit I have lost all my talking points. Good game.

5 Quality Yet Accessible Tragic Anime You Should Watch
Letās talk about tragedy in anime. Aināt nothinā like watching some sad anime boys experiencing sad things while I sit there and cry. I love tragedy in anime, thereās just a certain satisfaction in ādissatisfactionā. Sometimes, itās far more meaningful for someone to lose a fight, to make a hard decision or sacrifice something. Maybe the hero never saves the girl, or a loved one just doesnāt make it. Yes, in a perfect world everyone ends up happy, but this isnāt a perfect world. People suffer, and sometimes it ends on a good note, sometimes everything goes to hell and the world burns. That gritty realism and human error adds a level of empathy and depth to many shows that would otherwise lack it. I personally think itās worth talking about that, since I donāt think tragic anime get enough love.
So I thought Iād make a quick list of 5 accessible yet Quality tragedy series, ranging from pretty popular and accessible, to slightly more niche. Many of you have seen these series Iām sure, but with the continuous stream of shows being released every single season, it can be hard to either go back and watch older shows, or stay on top of newer ones. These are just a few picks that I would urge anyone and everyone to go and at least try.
I should also preface this by saying, when I say tragedy, it doesnāt mean the show has a depressing ending. By tragedy Iām referring to tragic events happening in a show regularly, be it at the end, the beginning or throughout. Simply putting something on this list, doesnāt mean it has a tragic ending, so you can rest assured there are still surprises to come when watching these.
Also, these are all my opinions, everyone is entitled to them. You can disagree or agree, itās up to you, we can even discuss my peeps. Just donāt brutalize me for shows you donāt like or if one of your favorites isnāt on this list.
All of that being said, Here are 5 tragic series I think everyone should at least try:
1. Code Geass
Starting off simple we have Code Geass. What a show this was back in the day. Death Note, mixed with Mechs and sci-fi and chess and a whole lot of edge. For many people, they have already seen it, itās almost guaranteed if you watched anime in the early 2000s. However, as time goes on, this series slowly falls into obscurity, many people being less attracted by its flamboyant art style and the ever growing age. It seems like Code Geass is slowly fading away with time, people online arenāt forgetting about it, but moving on, and many new fans are understandably detracted from a show like this.
But theyāre all wrong. This series is incredible. Itās a fundamental āmust-watchā show. Sure, it shows itās age now, but that doesnāt detract from itās plot and characters. With a very likeable cast, a constantly expanding story, high stakes, insane powers and mind games, politics and action, all of these make an insanely good series, one that warrants repeated viewing to this day. What starts as a boy being in the wrong place at the wrong time, blows up into a worldwide conflict. This is one of those series that sticks with you, there are scenes and moments in this you just never forget moving forward.
Some of the things I love is Sunriseās mech designs, Lancelot as well as many of the Knightmare frame designs in the movies and show are still fun and vibrant to this day. Many old Mecha shows become redundant years later as the designs donāt hold up. This one though, certainly does.
I also really love the voice acting. Yes the sub is good, but the dub (fight me) is just mwah. Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch is nut worthy. Just watch the first episode where he gives his first command. Insta nut. Iām telling you.
I also love the endings of both seasons. I think the first is a really good climax, while the second season closes about as well as this could, while still coming out of left field.
Some things that I think detract people, definitely start with the art style. Sunriseās designs for the machines and backgrounds and such is fine, it looks good, however Clampās character designs are definitely an acquired taste. Theyāre not for everyone. Everyone looks super slender, almost cartoon like in their clothes and proportions. Yes you get used to it, but they still look very ādifferentā to the standard, even back when it first came out.
Another is sometimes, the show just goes to very strange places, for example having an episode to do with drug addiction that just came out of left-field. In the same vein, some people have very mixed opinions on season two, not entirely liking the direction it goes and some of the character developments. However, a lot of these things are subjective and Iāll leave them up to you to decide.
Spanning two, 25 episode seasons (you can definitely just pretend the movie never happened) as well as several spin off OVAs and Shorts (Those you actually can watch though), the series is a pretty long watch by todayās standards, but itās definitely worth it.
2. Zankyou No Terror
Next up, we have Terror in Resonance. This one for sure is worth the watch even without the tragedy. This is one of those shows, which is so visually appealing to watch. Itās one of the most aesthetically pleasing shows Iāve ever seen. I guarantee anyone whoās interested in aesthetic gifs and images of weeb stuff, has seen shots from this show without even realizing it. Itās not exactly a niche show, but itās a little less accessible than something like āAngel Beatsā, with a much more serious and gritty tone. Itās not criminally underrated, but I just really wish more people had seen this, since it genuinely is a beautiful series.
Some of the things I really love about this show, is (as Iāve mentioned a thousand times) the aesthetic sense. Every shot in this series is screenshot worthy, with plenty scenes making for āstraight-out-the-boxā gifs and icons and whatever it is you kids use screenshots for. Even the food, just like papa Gigguk mentioned, is just mwah, spicy stuff. I attribute this to the very well considered color palette, realistic lighting and designs, as well as just overall good cinematography.
On the less visible side of things, the story hold ups really well too, with some very genuinely emotional moments and scenes. Just like Code Geass above, this series has a very well considered ending, with a āWholesomeā(?) message at the end.
The only negatives I can really give for the series, is some pacing issues if youāre an impatient brat like me, as well as almost a complete lack of lightheartedness. The series can be sweet and touching, but itās almost always dark and serious at the same time, with no time to relax or breathe throughout.
I think there isnāt as much to say about ZnT as there is about Code geass, as itās not as subjective. It is an objectively high quality show, your own enjoyment of it is what varies. Unlike Code Geass, there isnāt many flaws, but it doesnāt take as many risks. To me, this show is a very safe bet. It looks gorgeous, is only 11 episodes (you big boys and girls can binge that) and tells a satisfying, self-contained story. A little bonus is that itās directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, famous for Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, so hey- It has that going for it too.
3. Parasyte: The Maxim
Following on, we have one of the series that introduced me to tragedy, Parasyte: The Maxim. Let me tell you, this series is dark. And violent. Very violent at times.
When it first aired in 2014, the response was pretty good, it didnāt reach critical Acclaim, but had its own cult following, with the manga having been published from the late 80s to the mid 90s. For me, this was one of my first truly ādarkerā and more violent anime, having really only watched shounen and some seinen before that. This to me isnāt one of the best stories ever, the characters are fine, and the show looks acceptable. But while it doesnāt excel in anything, it does everything really well. To me, itās the perfect bridge from Casual fan, to serious- or even as a primer for more dark and violent stories, such as Berserk or dare I say it Tokyo Ghoul (Read the manga, please donāt support the anime adaptation).
For me personally, I really Liked the main character, he drove the show on for me. Watching him develop into someone completely different from the beginning of the show, was a real draw to me. Heās likeable, relatable to an extent, and he had a complete character arc. Shinichi in the beginning is not the same character as in the end.
This character is also used to convey a deeper meaning about what humanity is and how we define the term. Itās a really interesting series about us as a race, with some genuine things to discuss and think about, which leaves a longer lasting impression than most shows. Itās the sort of series that makes you want to share it with other people just so you can talk to them about it. Ah- and itāll hit you in the feels. This show is genuinely tragic through out, but still stays personal to the small cast, which to me, is the sign of a really good tragedy. Despite things going on in the entire world, they make you care about these few people specifically.
However, it has itās own problems too. Art wise, itās very faithful to the original source material, capturing the feel of it, the low key oppressive vibes. However, this also means, it can look a littleā¦ āBlandā? At times. The earthy colors can be a little drab, especially in an age were Studio Trigger, for example, can make an eye-gasm worthy scene using colours you didnāt even know existed.
The other problem, is some of the characters are very one dimensional. Take the love interest, she doesnāt really develop or change at all throughout the series, but I personally give this a pass as sheās not super relevant to the story anyway.
A fair warning though, this series has some strong violence, plenty of gore and mutilation, if thatās a problem for you, I suggest either giving this one a skip, or just trying to sit through it. Itāll be a good learning experience.
Spanning a fair 24 episodes, having aired in 2014, this series is both bingeable, and holds-up very well in the modern ecosystem of anime. To me, this is a pretty top tier show, a solid 8/10, itās very good, a really well made show, It makes for the perfect bridge into far more serious and dark stories, such as maybe Berserk and Devilman, hence why I put it on this list.
4. Fate/Zero
For my second to last show, perhaps one of the most well known franchises, that is lowkey kinda niche. Fate is a series everyone knows the existence of, but not as many people have actually watched, especially not casual fans. To be frank, itās intimidating. The series has no real easy entry point, and all the timelines are relatively interwoven, you canāt just bounce around. Everything spoils everything and itās scary to even look at a list of fate entries.
Thatās why I picked Fate Zero. To me, itās the best entry point into the Type/Moon genre. For those of you who donāt know, itās basically a battle royal between seven summoners who each have a servant of different classes. They all have to fight for the Holy Grail, an artifact that will grant them a single wish. Sounds simple right?
Well itās not. The entire series is full of not only badass action, but plenty of mind games and ācat-and-mouseā between the characters. Itās brutal, itās tragic, violent and uplifting. Ufotable delivers some of the highest quality animation youāll see in your life (theyāre renowned for it), but it doesnāt just look good. The story is compelling, the characters are genuinely likeable and by the end, I wanted everyone to live and survive. Everyone has believable and compelling motivation, and even the objectively evil characters, like Caster, are still likeable, because you begin to love to hate them. The entire season honestly plays out more like a compressed microcosmic version of Game of Thrones, than a battle royal anime.
There are plenty of things I like about this series, the plot is really fun, the fights are pretty damn cool and it can be a very emotional show at times. I could talk about these aspects endlessly. However, the thing that really makes Fate for me, is the characters. Each individual characters gets some time and attention, and with the exception of a few, you really genuinely like and care about everyone. You want everyone to win, or at least survive, since all of them are either genuinely lovable, or have very compelling motivation.
The other part to it is, this is the best starting point for the rest of Fate, and I would actually argue that it enhances many scenes found in the subsequent (story wise) series, even if they aired prior to Zero. This series both introduced me to Fate, and got me attached and invested in the world, which is the sign of a good (technically) first series.
On the other hand, it has problems. First of all, itās pretty interwoven with the later series. Those came before it and set up a lot of mysteries and ideas that Zero goes out of itās way to explain, from character identities to events in the timeline, watching Zero will spoil a lot of those things, which may lessen the later experiences for some people.
The other flaw is despite being maybe the best starting point for Fate, it still isnāt entirely accessible. The show can be straight up confusing at times, at least for someone who hasnāt seen Fate. Many elements of the world arenāt explained and youāre just expected to go along with it, since itās either just a part of this world, or explained in other series. Which is fine, but often lead to some rather āBut waitā¦ What just happened?ā moments.
Ultimately, Fate/Zero is fantastic series for anyone looking for a really good character drama, full of magic and badass historical references. Itās not the best introduction but itās the best youāll get from Fate. Similarly to Code Geass and ZnT, the series has a really good conclusion in my opinion, with plenty of tragic moments sprinkled throughout.
For Fate, Zero specifically consists of two seasons of 12 episodes each, for a bingeable 24 episode series. For ideas where to go next from this, look for my upcoming Tumblr Post explaining the fate continuity.
5. Mobile Suit Gundam : Iron-Blooded Orphans
And Finally, we come to our last pick of the day. This is a series, I would urge anyone to watch. If I could make you watch one Single series from this list, this would be it. Throw away any views you have on the franchise or the genre, donāt be afraid of the name, just give this series a try.
Iron Blooded Orphans follows a small mercenary band of boys who just want to make a home for themselves in a galaxy strained by political unrest. The premise is simple, just people trying to survive and make a life for themselves.
Well what if I told you it was directed and written by the same Duo that made AnoHana, one of the most commonly acknowledged tragic shows out there. This duo write and direct stories about innocent children being put through immense hardship and this series is no different. This show is tragic, painful even. I sobbed as many times as I laughed and smiled in this show. We spend a season watching them come up in the world, only to watch everything get torn apart in the second season, and it is genuinely emotional and heart wrenching.
Something I love about this series, is the characters and how attached you become to them. Death is a genuine threat in this show, even if you donāt feel it in the beginning. When people die, it hurts, and that applies to IBO, where each death leaves resounding ripples on the people around them. It handles familial relationships really well, making you believe in these people and their emotions. When they suffer, you cry for them, and when they get brief moments of respite, you do too. I love how invested you become in this ragtag team of boys, making some of the later scenes all the more devastating when they happen.
Another thing I love is the stakes. Within the second season, the pressure to perform is on, the first season, while having threats and such, was never even close to season two. To be vague, one of my favorite moments is when a character has to land a decisive shot in the midst of a battle, and everyoneās lives are on the line. That entire confrontation is one of my favorite scenes in anime of all time. It is truly suspenseful and will take you on an emotional journey.
To top it all off, itās made by Sunrise. If you like Mechs, well oh boy do they have you covered, and if you donāt- well oh boy, you will when youāre done. This show makes the mech Genre, and Gundam entirely accessible, you need no prior knowledge, you donāt need to be a fan to enjoy it. The fights are really fun and have genuinely cool moments, as cool as it can get for a mech anyway. The characters and story are well written and everything just comes together to make a very well produced show- Good job Sunrise.
It doesnāt go without itās own problems though. The first 20 ish episodes, until they get to earth, are not pointless, but have some pacing issues, as well as low stakes. There are threats and people die, but you never feel that scared or intense. Then towards the end of season one, the show kicks into high gear. To counteract this slow start, the series has a phenomenal season two that I genuinely believe everyone should watch, as itās a perfect example of character drama done exceptionally well.
The series is comprised of two seasons of 25 episodes each, totaling a measly (if youāre a big boy or girl) 50 episodes. There is several related forms of media, nothing worth mentioning though, for more Gundam, youāre better off watching other series from the franchise.
If I can only force you to watch one, please go out and watch Iron Blooded Orphans. To me, itās 9- pushing a 10/10 series, with a undeniably slow start, but a fantastic heart felt, emotional ending.
So thatās it from me guys. Thanks for taking the time to read the ramblings of a mad man like me, but I hope this gives some people some ideas on where to go next or what they can watch now. If you enjoyed, make sure to follow me for more discussions and lists and whatever else anime related. If you have any advice, or want to discuss something with me, go ahead let me know, other than that- Leave, go outside, get some fresh air after reading all that.

TwilightĀ
This is the opening scene for twilight breaking dawn part 2 and its one of my favourite movie scenes ever. The use of extreme close ups just make this scene so mesmerising. I love the way the camera zooms in till its a complete macro shot. The fine details in everything really add to this dramatic opening scene. There is also some good use of panning in this scene. There is also a lot of depth of field with the foreground in focus and the background is blurred. There is also very interesting uses of making scenes out of focus then kind of fall into focus its all very fast but happens quite smoothly.
youtube
Joker
This scene uses so many different techniques and the soundtrack fits so perfect. I love the first scene where we are walking behind him with only him in focus so we know he is the main subject here. The next scene I like is the panning down from the sky to him on the staircase. This staircase scene is one of the most iconic scenes and basically makes the whole movie. There is also some use of slow-motion to add more emotion behind this scene as this is when the characters found the real him. I really like some of the above shots too giving lots off depth to the scene. Nearer the end of this scene you slowly begin to see two figures in the background but the main subject is still in focus this gives off a really eerie vibe as the joker had not yet noticed the two figures because he was too busy enjoying himself. I also really love the use of water and smoke in this scene, they are using such a simple location but adding so much to it.
youtube
The dark knightĀ
This is another opening scene that really starts of the movie with a bang. The first clip we see zooms into a mask then suddenly the camera pulls back slightly to show the car in frame. The quick scenes add a lot of action atmosphere so you know its going to get intense. The zip line scene is really nice as the camera follows the moving subject but from above but its a really smooth looking scene. The running scene once they enter the bank only has a few cuts leaving the scene rather smooth the camera follows the action again and kind of pans from one bit of action to the other. Nearer the end of clip when they are loading the bags of money into the bus they throw the bags then instantly kill the last guy and walk away all in the shot without cuts which looks really good as its at a kind of intense line and it just fits really well.
youtube
A quiet place
A quiet place in whole the movie has many interesting scenes with lots of techniques but this is the first death scene in the movie and all the different angles just added so much more to this what seemed happy scene. The first scene is really simple as we pan away from the main characters to a creepy post, very simple wide shot but gives us lots of information. We then get a close up to the characters feet as they walk along the sand path barefooted. We then see a nice panning down shot at the metal bar structure of the bridge, this panning shot works really well as the focus moves in and out of the different metal parts then falls down till we see the characters in shot. Then we get another behind the back scene where the characters always fall into focus, the camera doesn't move much in this scene just slightly forward. Later on when everything is about to go wrong we see the dad turning around to see whats going on and we spin around him the opposite way we are turning and it gives off a really dark undertone vibe. The running scene is also really well done as when he looks somewhere we also do and its very intense as we are trying to beat something. The actual running scene in itself tho where he is running straight at the camera as the camera follows him while running away it gives off a very fast paced look and it almost give off the impression he's running faster than he should be able to.
youtube
RatatouilleĀ
This is a scene I really like and also includes artisan so it fits the brief well and although its animated they still use the same kind of viewpoints and techniques. This scene specifically stands out to me as I love how smooth the scenes are for what you would think was a chaotic animal it has such a light hearted feel to it. The one scene where he's throwing everything in the pot is my favourite scene as the camera is just spinning around the pot as slowly getting closer, overtime food is thrown in the camera just keeps spinning its such a smooth scene with no cuts and once we have panned round a few times and we are now close up is when the drama happens in the movie. The scene just flows so nicely for the next. I think the slow camera panning contrasts the fast paced cooking really well and just kind of makes the scene work well. This movie has quite a lot of aesthetically pleasing cooking scenes but the panning just made this one so smooth.

We have a new citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Cha Woojin, who is known by no other name; Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā a 19 year old son of Apollo. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā He is a student and DJ at VisiĆ³n / IlusiĆ³n.
FC NAME/GROUP: Ā Na Jaemin (NCT) CHARACTER NAME: Ā Cha Woojin AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: Ā August 13, 2000 PLACE OF BIRTH: Seoul, South Korea OCCUPATION: Student (Recording Arts major), DJ at Vision/Illusion HEIGHT: 175 cm DEFINING FEATURES: - Thick eyebrows, long hooded eyes, upturned lips, bright smile - 02 piercings on his two earlobes
PERSONALITY: Woojin belonged to the ambivert category, as he needs communication to stay live, yet requires utter solitude to create. He loves to share, but still guarantees that people would always be aware of the unbreakable boundary around his privacy. Like the sun, he shines when itās the right time to shine. When Woojin is in his element, he exudes charm and confidence, probably the coolest, friendliest, most approachable, and sometimes loudest person in the room. His gallantry comes naturally, and kindness is something he will never lack of. Work hard, play hard, he could be someone one needs for the party to start, but the demigod always had great self-control. Despite the laid-back and distant vibe he usually shows to the world, Woojin still secretly cares about what people might think of him. He doesnāt crave anything more than recognition and respect for who he is and what he does, so no, he wouldnāt give anyone a chance to degrade and call him fuckboy, a swindler, a slob, a criminal, or any other names along the line.
Rooted from the fear of being looked down on, Woojin always wants to control everything happening in his, and sometimes othersā life, striving to perfect all of the perfect-able. Brought up to his motherās turbulent lifestyle, since a very young age, the demigod has believed that all of what heās got is useless, unless it is hard-earned. Without intense competition, hardship, blood, sweats, and tears, no prize would be valuable. He put all of himself into getting what he think would worth it, and as one could foresee, once he gets it, itās nearly impossible for him to let it go, which makes him appears to be over-possessive and over-obsessive. There is always a fire burning inside him, commanding him to act and fight, so patience and calmness are definitely not his strengths. Easily provoked, he may get into a fight or accept a challenge before being aware of what is really happening. Regarding his temper, Woojin has a lot more things to learn to tame it. Ā Ā
HISTORY: Their mother was beautiful, charming, and ambitious. A talented archeologist, an eager globetrotter, a passionate treasure seeker.
That was it. That was everything Woojin could, and would, say about the one who brought his elder brother and him to life. The life that at first, the brothers considered as absolutely awesome, that they could fit in perfectly well until the day they died. Even though they were constantly on the go, and even though Woojin couldnāt stay long enough to be close friends to any of his classmates, it was fine by him.
Long story short, they were wrong. Jungjin, him, and their mother, all realized that they were deadly wrong right from the start.
āI regret it the most, you knowā¦ā
His footsteps were halted by the slightly trembling voice of his mother. The whole floor reverberated with her frustrated, angry voice, her occasional teary sniffs served as an extra sound effect. He didnāt mean to eavesdrop, because he was a good-mannered and well-educated young man. But, his mother forgot to lock the door, and because it looked like she wouldnāt even care if anyone could hear her rant at this ungodly hour of the night.
āSetās a fucking huge mistake! I doubt he even gives a shit about Jungjinās existence. And I thought it would be better with the otherā¦ Yeah, Woojinās father. But fuck it, theyāre gods! Asshole ones! Hahaha, I was stupid enough to believe in asshole gods, can you believe it?ā
Right at that moment, Woojin decided that even when he became legal, not a single drop of wine, or anything that could mess up his brain system, would be allowed to pass his lips. Or else, he might be doing what his tipsy, mythology - obsessive mother was doing right then, babbling about how her children were sons of ancient a-hole gods.
The real question was asked only about a year later, in the dirty kitchen, when his mother was sober and his elder brother off to the bathroom. At that time, he was sixteen, Jungjin two years older, both had a plan to say goodbye to their mother, but this time not because she was going on another trip to somewhere none of them could pronounce.
āWhoās my father, mom?ā Woojin added before his motherās eyebrows could properly knit to each other and mouth open to spit not-so-nice words at him, āNot the one died in the fire when I was freshly born. I know, he doesnāt exist. And know who hyungās father is.ā
That was how he learned Apollo wasnāt only the name of those cool spaceships of NASA. That was also the name of who had blessed half of his existence. A Greek god, one of the Olympian deities, someone might not even care enough to learn about his existence, much less meeting him in person someday.
Woojin was sure that not many, if none, of his schoolmates would go through the bizarre experience of getting to know their fathers via ancient hardcovers from the Mythology section. After forcing himself to read up all the sources of info about Jungjinās and his deity dads, he believed it would be better to keep it as a secret from his elder brother for a little bit longer, at least until their plan was proved to be a success. Their plan was to run away, no, to stay away from their mother. A conflict between lifestyles was what Woojin would describe about the cause, simply because saying that he disliked his own mother was not really pleasant to anyoneās ears. Ā
The brothers chose to settle down in South Korea, right in the old apartment that Woojin called his very first home. While Jungjin tried his best to afford their so-much-freedom-but-so-little-of-everything-else new life, Woojin strived to be the best at whatever he was able to. An excellent student, a helpful friend, a well-behaved and supportive little brother, he made sure not to let anyone and himself down. Except for a couple times when he had to punch someoneās face because that was what they deserved, he was totally fine. Actually, thanks to those encounters with the bad guys, Woojin had discovered his healing ability. Even though it was almost impossible for him to perform it during the night, he felt somewhat grateful to be the son of the Greek god of the sun.
He planned to spill the beans to Jungjin - about the deity blood running in their veins ā right after he won a scholarship of some kind for college. But, that fateful day came much faster than he thought, as Jungjin came home one day with money, also a major mental breakdown. Ā
After helping his elder brother to calm down, Woojin finally confessed, āHyung, soā¦ I heard this from momā¦ That our father hasnāt died in a fire. You and I, we have different dads, and theyāre gods. Like, literally, gods.ā
It took an hour or so after that for Woojin to help Jungjin, once again, calmed down, and to brief what he had researched about their fathers. It seemed like his elder brother needed more to accept the fact than he did. At least, Woojin was thankful that his elder brother wasnāt convinced that he had gone insane or just got high on something without his approval.
One or two years later, with his outstanding achievements in high school, Woojin won some prestige scholarships, also got accept to well-known music academy abroad. While he was preparing for the very first school term living alone, Jungjin brought home a shocking, yet intriguing news about Mount Phoenix, a place made for gods and their descendants.
āThere are plenty of jobs you can have, hyung! We also can live in a nice apartment, befriend people like us, and there is a big university with all of the majors in this world, all free! And maybe we can meet our dads, who knows? We still have this place as a back-up plan if things donāt work out there, so why not give it a try?ā
He wasnāt sure how many times he had repeated that same monologue to his elder brother in the next few weeks, but it was finally proved to be fruitful. Woojinās world brightened up right at the moment his brother nodded his head in approval. And like that, with great hope and burning passions packed in his luggage, Woojin followed his brother to Mount Phoenix, determined to earn a much better future for both of them. Ā Ā
PANTHEON: Ā Greek CHILD OF: Ā Apollo POWERS:
Healing: Able to use the power of light to heal physical wounds of othersā and his own. The more serious the wounds, the more energy he will have to spend. Sometimes the wounds would leave permanent scars. Unable to heal mental disorders. Unable to save people from death.
Natural musical ability: Able to remember melodies, sing and compose songs, DJ-ing, and learn how to play musical instruments well in a shorter time than usual. Potential in rap and dance, but choose not to invest his time on those.
STRENGTHS: Ā
A natural musician and leader
A good conversationalist and negotiator
A go-to man in times of crisis
WEAKNESSES:
Hotheaded, can be ruthless and violent when angry
Highly competitive, accepting challenges too quick Ā
Possessive (and maybe obsessive) towards people and things he cares about

Sina Grace on Writing Iceman at Marvel: āI Was Surrounded by Cowardsā
Posted by Jude Terror June 28, 2019 48 Comments
As has been documented in various Bleeding Cool articles throughout the course of the bookās two series, one of my personal favorite X-Men comics of the past few years was Iceman, written by Sina Grace, and drawn it its first volume by Alessandro Vitti and Robert Gill and in its second and concluding one-shot by Nathan Stockman. The book breathed new life into a character who it could be argued hadnāt really received significant character development since his days in X-Factor in the 1980s. Itās true that it was āThe Great Oneā Brian Bendis who wrote Iceman outed by Jean Greyās invasive telepathy, but it was Grace who wrote adult Iceman coming to grips with this and learning to be himself and love himself, alongside, of course, lots of mutant action and drama. The book ended too soon, when it was really just getting going, IMHO.
With all of that in mind, itās sad but not surprising to read Sina Graceās comments, posted to his Tumblr, about his time at Marvel writing the book and what he says was a lack of support from Marvel while he dealt with online bullying as well as a lack of support and promotion for Iceman itself.
Grace writes:
After a point, I could almost laugh off people making light of my death, saying they have ācancerous AIDSā from my book, or insinuating Iām capable of sexual assaultā¦ almost. All he was going to do was tell me how to fend for myself.Ā
I needed Marvel to stand by me with more work opportunities to show the trolls that I was more than a diversity hire.Ā
āWeāll keep you in mind.ā
I got so tired of that sentence.
We as creators are strongly encouraged to build a platform on social media and use it to promote work-for-hire projects owned by massive corporationsā¦ but when the going gets tough, these dudes get going real quick.
This would be fine if it was the standard, but I assure you: none of my straight male colleagues seek permission to go on podcasts promoting their books.
What Marvel should have done is assign me a special projects editor. They should have worked with a specialty PR firm, rather than repeat a tiresome cycle of treating the book like a square peg, and getting confused when itās a hit.
Give us a real seat at the table
There was a moment before Iceman was cancelled where I wrote then-editor-in-chief Axel Alonso an email, pleading for a Hail Mary arc. I explained that Icemanwas landing with a newer generation of readers who focused more on binge-reading than month-to-month periodicals. The series needed time in the book market before its true strength could be assessed. To Axelās credit, he was warm to the idea and even gave me an extra month, but when he left Marvel that idea got brushed away. Of course I was right. The first two volumes sold like gangbusters thanks to word-of-mouth, librarian love, and support from retailers big and small.
I offered to give Darkveil a proper character bio, and I walked away. Ā
Instead of feeling like I worked with some of the most inspiring and brave people in comics, I was surrounded by cowards.
Truly, I hate writing this. In keeping with Pride Month, I am proud of the work I did on Icemanā¦ I love the book! It sucks that I may be tarnishing its legacy going public about how the cookies were made. That said, the time for self-congratulating is over, and folks should be earnestly listening when they ask: what could we have done better?
so whatās my take.....
Personally I think the kid got used, plain and simple. Also this should not have come as a shock to anyone.
Look at how badly they treat theirĀ customers that pay them money,Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā OF COURSE THEYāRE GOING TO FUCK THEIR EMPLOYEES EVERY CHANCE THEY GET.Ā AĀ box full of scorpions would have had more loyalty.

hello, iām kosmo (she/her) and iām v excited to be here hehehe! thank u for having me! ;; also i didnāt realise that both kosmo and tomo end the with the same letters & now i wanna d*e but oh well pls ignore that! (: anyw, iām here introduce TOMO!! thereās probably some stuff i left out here but it ended up having a word count of almost 2.5k so iām just going to stop myself while iām ahead! iāll finish off my stats & bio pages soon and then iāll try to think up some plots but hereās all this for now!
(tw: suicide mention, brief drug mentions)
BASIC STATS
NAME / tomo katsumura; his full name is tomohiko but nobody calls him that except his mum & grandparents like literally everybody else knows him as tomo NICKNAMES / technically, tomo IS a nickname but heās so used it that not using a nickname with him is :knife emoji: -- also katsutomo but that oneās more of fan-title-nickname rather than one he actually uses (as much as he came up with it himself tweeting it out like āyou guys can call me katsutomo from now on if you like ^^ā before changing all his handles to that exact name). other than that, heās a bit iffy about nicknames. he likes them if HE came up with them but giving him a nickname is usually Yikes City (unless he decides itās cute and lets u do it, i guess) AGE & DOB / twenty-three & 6th november 1995 BIRTHPLACE / LA, USA ETHNICITY /Ā japanese OCCUPATION / actor! he dabbles in modelling but itās more of anĀ āi got asked to model this thing bc iām famous and theyāre paying me (:ā type deal than it being something heās actually personally into. whereas acting is his PASSION.
EARLY LIFE
to start with, letās talk about his parents; his dad, born and raised in america, was an actor who eventually made a move into directing but ultimately committed suicide at age 38 & his mother, born and raised in japan, is a socialite who had started off as a teen idol in the 80s. his parents had also divorced when tomo was still young, a few years before his dadās death, so he uses his motherās surname. tomo does not get on with her but, thanks to the sense of guilt sheās raised into him, he canāt bring himself to cut her out of his life completely.Ā
basically, sheās got hang ups about the way her idol career ended so she kind of pushed tomo into the spotlight (which was fine for him because he wanted to act) but she grew envious of him after he got out of his teens and doesnāt like the decisions he makes. itās a mutual issue. they mostly donāt get on because they canāt see eye to eye or really speak to each other at length without arguing.
his mum actually wanted him to break into acting when he was about nine because heād already taken an interest in it by then. because her career had ended early, she took the approach ofĀ āhe wonāt be cute forever, what if we wait too long and he loses his chance?ā but his father, who had his own issues with the industry, strongly disagreed. this disagreement was one small contributing factor for their divorce; they had plenty of other issues as well but this didnāt help. their compromise was that tomo could wait until he was in his teens and this deal was mostly held up because tomo thought it was wrong to break a promise with a dead guy.
to be clear though, heād probably have issues with his dad too if he were still alive (and heās not exactly super fond of him as it is; he doesnāt hate him but he doesnāt like being asked about being his son). he was kind of a shit husband and, if it werenāt for the fact he didnāt see tomo as often as heād like, heād probably be a pretty distant father as well. his work was pretty much his main priority and he had a lot of personal issues that he took out on other people.
tomo grew up in LA for the most part but also spent a lot of time in japan, mostly jumping between osaka, where his motherās family lived, and tokyo, where his motherās friends and connections & his fatherās extended family lived. the family stopped travelling quite as much after his fatherās death and tomoās reaching high school age. he grew up bilingual.
CAREER
he started acting professional when he was 16, mostly with a few smaller tv roles but he had good connections and was able to get a small but still substantial role in the film directed by a friend of his dad. his big break came at age 18 when he landed a leaded a role in the main cast of high school drama. it was exciting at first, being on tv and being famous, but he hated both the show and his character so the whole thing got tired fast. he wasnāt allowed to quick so he went out of his way to get himself fired. thereās a whole story behind that but iāll leave that for the bio hehehe! (he wanted his character to get killed off bc he thought itād be fun to act out but they wouldnāt let him do that ): boooo)
one of his biggest issues with the tv show was that he didnāt like being sold as a product / character that wasnāt anything like him. he hated being shown off as this squeaky clean teen heartthrob type and not being allowed to have his own emotions & tastes. he found it mentally exhausting and, since then, heās had a lot of issues dealing with the contrast between how he is as a person and how heās seen by the media.Ā he tries not to admit it but heās terrified of being swallowed up by what other people think of of him and losing track of himself in the process. itās made him a little paranoid.
since then, heās avoided tv as much as possible. he prefers working on films in general but he finds the idea of playing the same character for too long incredibly unappealing. he enjoys taking on new roles and absorbing himself in that character & sometimes to the point of bordering on obsession so playing the same role not only plays into his fears of people seeing him as someone heās not (i.e; whatever character it is) but heās also scared of seeing HIMSELF the wrong way. he needs the separation.
tomo likes working on indie films or more artistic/niche studio films most of all. the promotion cycle isnāt as intensive and the characters tend to appeal to him more. he has appeared in a few blockbuster-type films but mostly because his bosses have pushed him into it or heās had to taken on a multiple film contract with a studio in order to land a role he really wanted. (he once got int trouble for calling his own character in a blockbuster aĀ ādumb bitchā on twitter)
the bratpack article had a pretty heavy impact on him. it kinda just spoke to all of his worst fears of not really being a Real Person or being Sold A Certain Way. he wanted to get away from it without having to actually stop working because itās the one thing that really keeps him stable. his eventual means of escape was a role in a japanese film. heās been living in japan since then, having moved there to specifically hunt out a film to work on, to get used to the japanese industry/prepare himself and then get to filming. heās come to milan straight from tokyo, not having seen any of the other brats in person during that time, but heās had time to relax. sort of.Ā
PERSONALITY
for the most part, tomoās a friendly and energetic guy! (living up to his name a lil bit here bc tomo can mean āfriendā in japanese hehehe) when heās at his best, heās great company. he likes to stand out in a crowd, has a winning smile and enjoys a little bit of attention but also knows when to step back and look out for other people. he likes to play as hard as he works. the trouble is that, when things arenātĀ going well and heās distressed, he tends to collapse in on himself. behaviour that seemed playful before looks straight up stupid and reckless instead. heāll avoid attention but get frustrated because he craves it and do more reckless shit forĀ attention. yet heās pretty good at pretending shitās fine, heās still weirdly positive for a guy who feels all messed up ā maybe he gets away with it because heās a good actor. tomo has good days and bad days but thereās little warning as to which is which. it wasnāt always this way; itās like something has broken his spirit. (i copied this from my app but asdghgsdf)
thatās why his archetype is The Contradiction,,,bc he doesnāt make any fuckin sense, woooeee! heās this very bouncy, upbeat person and he likes having fun but heās not really a very positive person in terms of outlook. heās too high energy! his general vibe is everythingās going to shit but iām going to have a good time anyway :D
actually, on that note...he IS :D
he doesnāt like crying in front of people which is rough bc heās v emotional all the time. heās a total crybaby when heās drunk. if you drink with him, there WILL be a point at which you have to scoop him up off the floor because heās found something over which to start weeping. OR heāll end up calling you to panic about how he canāt find his way home, only for him to realise like 5 minutes later heās phoning you from the steps outside his apartment building.
the kind of guy who can have a full-on breakdown in his room by himself and then just reappear & ask u if u wanna go for ice cream or smth bc heās bored. like ok thatās done with, that already happened. itās over.
anyw heās always willing to give ppl advice if theyāre feeling stuck. itās not always great advice bc heās basically shit at dealing with stuff himself. heās not one of these ppl who gives great advice but canāt follow it himself, heās more...he gives advice bc heād feel bad if he didnāt TRY so the advice itself definitely varies in quality. he means well though.
donāt watch funny films with him because he will do one of either things; 1) not find it funny and sit through the whole thing like : | or 2) heāll find it so funny that heāll end up on the floor at some point. thereās no in between. itās all or nothing with this fucker.
he really likes cute shit. heās rich so thereās nothing stopping him from buying those overpriced limited edition hello kitty goods.
letās not talk about how he enjoys acting bc itās an escape where he can be Somebody Else but he canāt cope with himself being promoted as something that doesnāt feel like Tomo. thatās its own mess. iām p sure heād just unravel if anybody said anything about it.
OTHER STUFF
his hair is currently bright red. itās a recent change but he was likeĀ āuhhhh if iām going on this trip, iām making a visual statementā and that was that. he likes to go for more interesting colours when heās not filming anything because itās the only time he really gets to. i mean, he still has dyed hair in a lot of his films but itāll usually be brown or blonde or something else moreĀ ārealisticā.
tomo cares a LOT about the way he dresses and styles himself. heāll probably complain if he has to do a promo/magazine shoot and he doesnāt like the outfit heās been given. it doesnāt actually help him half the time and he just gets told to shut up but itās the PRINCIPLE of it !!!!!!!!
he posts on his finsta probably way too often but thatās because his public social media is pretty filtered, given that heās caused fusses on social media before. there have been multiple cases of him having to delete tweets and instagram posts because somebody in charge decided he was pushing the limit just a little too much and, granted, most of it wouldnāt be seen as risky (bc itās mostly utterly pointless stuff that gets flagged up as risky, e.g; āi need to pee and i canāt find a bathroom. death is coming for me.ā) if he hadnāt publicly complained about the tv show that made him famous several times on twitter but he did do that so, yāknow, heās seen as a liability. the unfortunate outcome of this is that his finsta story is often littered with fairly inane thoughts.
heās not very good at watching himself in films. it depends on the film and he can do it but uhhhh letās just say he once watched the one horror film he was in at the cinema (and didnāt like most of it bc heās a wuss about that sort of thing) but he laughed during his own death scene. there were tears in his eyes. real tears.
he doesnāt like dating because...well, he likes the IDEA of it but heās the type to really fall for someone and BASICALLY? heās scared of being dumped! heās a bright & appealing personality with just enough edge to balance it out but heās a bit of an emotional screwball and getting people interested is easier than keeping them interested, leading to mixed experiences with dating so heās settled for sleeping around a little instead. oh well, whatever works! (does it actually work? shhhh itās a secret...)
heās very much involved in the party scene, whatever country heās in. itās not something he talks about much (privately, i mean, bc DUH he doesnāt say it publicly) but he doesnāt exactly avoidĀ drugs in anyway (code for...yeah, heās done stuff). itās all casual, he says, but he still does it. he does smoke cigarettes though and heās a little dependent on that.
also i guess he got involved in that kinda thing deliberately because he wants to distance himself from the clean-cut, shiny heartthrob pretty boy image as much as possible. eventually, it just became a natural way of de-stressing and dealing with the constant frustration of his career. the unfortunate consequence of that is that heās now got a bit of a Bad Boy/Wild Child image and heās not entirely sure he likes that either. (the shift in image also means that some journalists will talk about him as though heāsĀ āgone off the railsā and, yeah, he hates that as well)
#bratsintro#ok i kept trying to review this to make sure everything's in order but iM...SICK OF READING IT SO hopefully it's fine as is ASDFGHGF#i feel like my eyeballs are gonna fall out if i look at this any longer so im just gonna hit post and tell myself to shut upASDFGHG#i think there's some stuff i forgot to put in here that WAS in the app so i might just put a link to it on my blog somewhere#except i forgot to save the final version of the app i actually sent so i CAN'T REMEMBER

jan, march, sept + one of your choice, love. have a great day, u icon
thank u kyra i adore u
january: what was the first fic you posted this year?
the first fic i posted this year TECHNICALLY was the epilogue of a different path. the first standalone was chewbacca (aka my introduction to the jily world once again and i have such a soft spot for it)
march: do you listen to music whilst writing?Ā
yes! pretty much always; if itās not music, itās a TV show.
september: share a comment or review which still warms your heart?
quite literally anything youāve left on any of my fics BUT there are a few that i hold dear to my heart. iāll post them under the cut cause they are LONG :ā)
ancient: the first fic you ever posted online?
hahahaaaaaaa. it was my own version of rick riordanās the son of neptune before the actual book was published. it was on ff.net, and the first chapter got 7 reviews, and i felt so good about myself after that lmfao. who knew iād still be writing 8 years later?
ask me questions!
OKAY so i have 3 top favorites:
from a different path:
okay so i had seen this in someone elseās bookmarks the other day, thought it was an interesting conceptāespecially since i too love slytherin!percy and strongly subscribe to ofswordsandpensā headcanons about itābut didnāt give it another thought until i was listening to a video about the cursed child and went: wait, thereās a percabeth hogwarts au that i saw somewhere. and immediately i hunted this down and iām just in awe? i tore through it. belatedly, i realized that i made a mistake: i didnāt write down my thoughts as i was reading, which is definitely a disservice to you. however, here are a generalized list of things that i loved.
first of all, with hogwarts auās, there are three main aspects that i look for: plot, characterization, and quality of writing. normally, fics of this size lack one or more of these key factors, but i was astonished to find that the plot is tremendously tight and intriguing (my lip bled from biting it so much because iāve been stressed to the max), you write these characters with such distinct voices i can easily picture them saying everythingāexcept, of course, now in a little british accentāand your writing flows so well, it feels almost like iām reading an actual harry potter book, just with percy and co. you also do a masterful job of weaving together aspects of the pjo universe with the established canon of hp.
and there are so many specific things that i love. primarily, the way you write the relationships in this story; not just concerning percabeth (though i will get to that in a minute), but also with each of the interactions between all of the characters. i applaud you for how you handled luke/annabeth and rachel/percy, and the friendship among them all is just incredibly well done. i especially love how well you wrote connor and zoĆ« and just, a lot of characters that i donāt often think about when i think of pjo. grover and percyās friendship especially is heartbreaking, i just. heās so protective because he loves his friends and holy fuck i also love how you wrote grover in this. but i just adored how you wrote annabeth/percyāthe love between them, both platonic in its early stages and the romantic all throughout, was doubly apparent. i ached when they kissed each otherās cheeks, and i inwardly cheered when she kissed him in the locker room. there was just such a natural progression, to me, of their relationship. and man did i dig it. iām excited (and maybe a little scared) to see where you take their relationship in the future.
boy, this is getting long. sorry. but some more just little quick things: loved the b99 reference, with both of their competitive natures playing out in a similar way to jake and amyās. i kind of want to go back and see if i can find any other references that i missed because i was just too engaged in the story to catch them. also, zoĆ«ās death killed me all over again, thanks for that. i like how youāre working the kronos plot in, and i canāt wait to see how the Final Battle plays out. what else? oh! professor hestia? beautiful. eventual maybe professor percy? outstanding. percy kissing the top of annabethās head? breathtaking. rachel being a quidditch commentator? earth shattering. (truly i cackled when i saw that.) mrs. oāleary being a cat? incredible. how you incorporated percyās water powers? stunning.
ooh, this exchange was beautiful and had me cackling it was so in-character:
āNone of us are dying.ā Connor clarifies. āNot you, not me, not Annie, not the rest of us.ā
āI might have to dispute that.ā Annabeth says, from Percyās other side. āCall me āAnnieā one more time, Stoll, and Iāll kill you myself.ā
Connor only grins at her. āSorry, love. No more āAnnieā. Can I call you Beth?ā
āNo.ā
āAnna?ā
āNo.ā
okay, so i just finished chapter nine and i am blown away. sorry for how long this comment was, but a fic of this magnitude truly warrants it. i canāt wait to see what happens next.
i leave you with just two words: āholy shit.ā
from a different path:Ā
god, oh my god, am i the only dumb bitch who didnāt get what the prophecy was??
anyway, i stumbled on this fic last year, patiently waiting for its completion, and now that iāve rediscovered it, iām so glad i finished it all in one go! i couldnāt imagine the tension of waiting for the next chapter, especially since the tension is so well-crafted!! i hardly noticed the tonal shift even as the story got darker and darker as it led up to the war, and in that way i was reminded of how extremely similar it felt to reading the hp books for the first time! you nailed percy very well i might say, and the awkward-yet-caring relationship he has with his dad. i daresay you gave connor and zoe more characterization than rick riordan himself, and the percabeth you wrote is perfect to the nth degree. i appreciate that you didnt bother with all the love triangle and unrequited feelings nonsense as well.
but i have to say, even as i cried at sally and paulās wedding, or at dionysusā quiet mourning for castor, what really struck with me most was the way you handled silena. for that, i have no words. that was a job extremely well done. thank you so much for blessing us with this fic.
from chewbacca (a comment from u!):Ā
A girl in a bright yellow hooded raincoat stumbles into the cafe on one of the slowest nights James has ever seen. Her coat is dripping all over the floor heād just cleaned (but itās fine) and when he leans over the counter he sees that her boots match the coat.
First of all!!! Thats the best opening line in the world and nobody can convince me otherwise. I want to become a publisher just so that if you ever write a book, Iād be able to publish it. ( like omg, what an honor??? )
She looks like sunshine, standing there with the amount of yellow in her wardrobe. Briefly, James wonders if thatās her favorite color. Itās got to be.
Im going to quote this whole fic but I really love these lines? Like, you have this distinct style of writiting that I aim to acheive and youāre literally such a rolemodel!!! These are my favorite kind of fics to read. Funny story but I was going through a āno thanks Jilyā mood ( Ā a horror, i know !! ) but your fics are just,,,,exceptions? You could write about trash and Iād love it and ask for you to sign me up.
Ā āSay it again, but convincingly this time.ā
ooof this dialogue??? let me breathe
This is the longest heās stood still since he started working. Itās actually a miracle.
and the funniest person award goes to YOU. also, the most talented and cutest but thats neither here nor there.
james taking care of fleamont, switching off the lights gives me just a nice and realistic vibe? its so simple but i love how you added it.
honestly at this point, ive been sucked again by the fanfic. it feels less like a fic and more like a masterpiece that belongs in a museum but anyway.
āJames is supposed to be helping.
James is on his phone.ā
ugh i love ur mind. im rereading and its so nice and lovely. even if its like 1am and im exhausted, this fic is sustaining me.
āDo it off the clock, would you?ā
PEAK HUMOR
have i mentioned how much i love that scene with euphemia? she seems like such a lovely mom. i love ur euphemia the most. and ahh, both of them just rushing to the hospital ? another 100% good scene.
āEuphemia smiles too, but looks at Fleamont rather than at her son. āYes,ā she says. āIt really does.āā
fic? or shakspeare? HMMM
A girl in a bright yellow hooded raincoat stumbles into the cafe on one of the slowest nights James has ever seen // āGet fucked.ā
the fic!! has made a circle!!! i love how it begins and ends along the same lines. I really want to know how??? are you so talented im in love.
i just really love this fic, okay? i love how james is just the kindest, lily is allowed to have feelings, its just so soft and warm. and it makes someone feel loved, want love anyway.
the dynamic between the characters are just so real and great and im astounded, in short.
your sirius is everything. so many fics potray him as a dick??? which is first of all #rude and also, not at all true. you made me love these characters even more so i sincerely hope you never stop writing.
youāre such a beautiful writer and the way you string words together is just poetic and gorgeous and all the other good adjectives you can think of. i read your spiderman x reader too and i was a goner for you. EVERYTHING YOU WRITE IS SO GOOD. i read it so long ago but i can vividly remember peter whipping the mask off and she just going wtf stop on the window ledge. what im trying to say is that you leave this lasting impression on people that make them remember random scenes and words / prose long after theyāve read it which is a remarkable feat, i believe.
and im so sorry im not on tumblr rn bc i cannot keep recing this fic but i have told my friends about your writing and they loved it too. youāve got like a million fans. when i do get back from my hiatus, im going to keep recing your fics and people will cry because their universe will shift thanks to the newfound joy of your presence in their life.
lastly, im more of a dog person and that, more than anything, should tell you how much i love this fic. i love u. and basee on your writing, i want to hug you, be your best friend and make you cookies bc again
WOW

live tumbling my reaction to ml season 2 episode ???
aka The Return of Fuckboy Adrien Frozer
This is a week late because Iāve been busy.Ā idk what the actual episode number is, but this release order is not cutting it. Iāll have to make another recommended list some time.
Spoilers and salt below. Warning: thereās a lot of salt.
Did he really need to use Cataclysm when they were just chasing a runaway hang glider? They werenāt even fighting an akuma!
Nope, this canāt be real. Adrien must be daydreaming. The love rectangle was the reason this show got attention in the first place. Thereās no way theyād give up the game this soon.
Well, this came out of nowhere. Now I get the feeling Galciator is supposed to be later in the season...
Whatās Kagami doing in the boysā locker room? (They do separate locker rooms, right? Or do they change elsewhere and those are their normal school lockers? Does Kagami even go to College Francoise Dupont?)
Itās been a really long time since I watched Riposte, but...is Kagamiās voice different? I thought I was supposed to be deeper. Or maybe Iām just getting the French and English dubs mixed up.
āIām Plagg, so very nice to EAT youā /groan
Oh look, Gorilla isnāt fired after all
Ok, so obviously heās talking about Kagami, but since when do you study together? And why the fuck is it not even mentioned, let alone shown on screen? No, wait, donāt tell me. Itās because the writers are lazy as fuck and think that keeping the details vague somehow makes the show clever
^Tikki is all of us
I donāt know, I actually thought Marinette handled it pretty well, considering there was no way she could have seen that coming. What was she supposed to do? If she told Adrien how she felt, then heād reject her. If she manipulated him into thinking Kagamiās not that great, or gave him a shitty date idea that backfired, that would way too inconsistent with the kind of person Mari is. Offering to third-wheel on his date as moral support was kind of dumb, but she literally had milliseconds to think about what to say after he dropped that bombshell on her.
Wtf was Julekaās voice just there?
Is Juleka going to offer to set Marinette up on a fake date with Luka, to give her an excuse not to show up at the rink?
(Where are they anyway? This setting doesnāt look familiar at all.)
Never mind, it looks like theyāre on Anarkaās ship.
Oh great, itās Corny McCheeseface
His lines are so cringey, omg
.......Marinette, what are you planning here?
Weird how no one has been akumatized yet. Youād think Adrien would have gotten it this time, since Ladybug rejected him. Or Marinette, since she seemed so down just now. Itās not like people havenāt been akumatized for much less.
Philippeās English voice is awful
Does either of them even know how to skate? I get the feeling Kagamiās going to have to be the one helping Adrien around.
Yep. Of course, sheās perfect at this too.
So Luka is too busy with music (does this guy even go to school, or did he drop out of Lycee?), Marinette is too busy being Ladybug, Kagami doesnāt take skating seriously even though sheās ~practically perfect~, and...let me guess, Adrien says no because he canāt let his dad know heās here?
idk Philippe, maybe you should introduce yourself before you shove your lessons in peopleās faces? Pretty sure letting people know youāre a famous skater would be a better selling point thanĀ āIāLL MAKE YOU A STARā
Never mind, Kagami answered for him. (To be fair, he wasĀ being pushy and obnoxious, so I donāt blame her for brushing him off)
I know Gabriel can senseĀ ānegative emotions,ā but can he specifically senseĀ āmy ice rink is getting shut down because Adrien Agreste wonāt sign up for my classā vibes? And if so, wouldnāt Gabriel be able to know where Adrien whenever heās out, as long as someone sees and recognizes him?
Is Plagg serious here? He KNOWS who Marinette is! Or did this happen before Dark Owl and Sandboy?
āAll of Paris will be your ice kingdomā....so heās Elsa now?
Side note: I already know they get outfit changes for this episode, so...does Marinette keep her magic macarons with her at all times, or is she going to have to run home to get them?
Never mind, they were in her backpack. (Isnāt that dangerous though? What if they fell out of her bag and someone ate them thinking they were regular macarons? Do they affect humans differently?)
Convenient how she saw the ice and immediately thought to transform, even though she probably only has a limited supply ofĀ āmagicaronsā and will have to make a run to Master Fuās to restock if she uses any up. If she had those magicarons in season 1, would she have been this quick to use them on Stormy Weather/Climatika too?
Itās almost like the writers donāt give a shit
Stalactikki? Do they have to announce her new name every time, like sheās a fucking pokemon?
Whatās the thing on the front of her supersuit that looks like her yoyo but isnāt? Why give her a tiara? Other than the fur, is there any part of this outfit change that has any practical purpose?
Convenient how Adrien just happens to have the magic cheese on him. Convenient how Plagg hasnāt eaten them all, too.
Why is he acting like such an asshole now? He seemed happy to ask Kagami out, and he seemed fine at the rink. Why is the writing for this show so inconsistent?
Thomas, you canāt insist on Twitter that Felix got scrapped because his trope has been done to death and Adrien is much better because heās a perfect gentleman, while at the same time making him act like this out of nowhere in the name of giving him flaws to make him more ~realistic~
Maybe heās mad at her for constantly replacing him with other Miraculous wielders? That would make more sense, since sheās done it like 4 times now. Plus, it would be more justified than passive-aggressively (passive-Agreste-ively?) whining about how nice guys finish lastĀ when he seemed fine just 20 minutes ago.
So...Frozer just shoots icicles out of his hands and feet?
Well, that got resolved fast. Not that Frozer was all that dangerous a villain.
Iām noticing a theme here: Any time the episode tries to fit in moreĀ āplot,ā the akuma battle loses out because of timing issues. This one is most obvious because the akumatization happened SO LATE in the episode since they were too busy drawing out Love Square drama.
Itās nice of Adrien to advertise Philippeās class online, but what is his father going to say when he gets home?
New headacanon: Kagami figured out in Riposte that Marinette is Ladybug, but sheās been keeping it from Adrien because she can see those two are hopeless.
Of course nothing changes in the end. Wouldnāt want the writers to hurt themselves trying to keep things consistent when theyāre more interested in ripping off fanon after all.
4/10 The villain was lame and the writing sucked
While I despise love triangles, most of my problems with this episode actually stem from the inconsistent characterization. This episode brought us the return of Fuckboy Adrien, as well as the long-promised return of Kagami and Luka. But if Thomas was trying to convince us that Kagami and Luka were going to be deeper characters than just secondary love interests, I donāt think he could have failed more epically. Making Kagami way too cool for Adrien in addition to a secret Adrienette shipper does not make her the more compelling love interest Thomas tried to sell her as. Having Luka be nice to Marinette--who is his friend AND his little sisterās friend--just makes him a decent human being, it doesnāt give him any personality to contrast with Adrien. It just shows that the creators/writers canāt commit to an idea. Itās likeĀ āwe want to shake things up a little, so letās bring in homewreckers...but we donāt want people to hate us, so letās make the twist that theyāre secret Adrienette shippers instead!ā They chose the safest route that they could chicken out of at the end.
#miraculous ladybug#ml salt#frozer#ml spoilers#miraculous spoilers#at this point the show isn't even *bad*#it's just...mediocre
