Alright, so It's been a while, but back then I also started animating something Bartimaeus inspired (in my free time between working on a project for Uni). In my case it's Bartimaeus morphing from a bird into Kitty. I finally got around to finishing it, after what feels like ages. Thanks to @depressoblueberry for giving me tips and feedback while working on this. Also thanks for introducing me to this book series that I absolutely adore now.

It was a good practice, and I had lots of fun.

(Sadly I can only reblog with a GIF, so I hope the quality isn't too awful)

soooo i had to animate random stuff for my uni (next to the 3 minute short film i also have to animate) and decided, hey why not try and animate bartimaeus changing from a frog into nathaniel. so yes, this is technically a bartimaeus animation, not a nathaniel animation

idk if it was actually established that after the third book, bartimaeus also takes the form of nathaniel or if this is just a random headcanon of mine but i also don't want to check because i want to believe it's true. so there you go

February 10th - After Effects morph

I attempted to take a second attempt at doing my after effects animation and sort of gave up halfway through. I didn’t really like my choice in film but I couldn’t come up with any other ideas I felt comfortable with. I think this could have been avoided if I put more time into the initial exploration part of the creative process. I feel like my inexperience shines through really brightly in this part of the unit and that I should have reached out for more guidance with it.

I don’t feel like I took very well to initial lessons too and I think that really set the negative tone of the overall project. I found that I was getting lost even when we were covering the basics. I really should have put more time into familiarizing myself with the program.

 Overall, it just really didn’t go very well.

January 23rd - After Effects Morph

Well. This came out terrible. 

I can confidently say that my after effects morph was the week point of this project. I kind of don’t even know what to say. There’s so much wrong with it. 

The timing is really off. 

The movements are stiff and jerky. 

I don’t think it communicates it’s film particularly well. 

Not too sure about my use of colour in this.

Overall it’s a hot mess. 

But hey, at least it’s finished. Link is below.
