Been a good night for hobbying, though I had to take a break in the middle of it to do forgotten chemistry homework.

Starting to work on the KT moroch terrain, primed in Mechanicus Standard Grey and right now just laying down base coats of Leadbelcher, Balthazar Gold, and a bit of Ulthuan Grey on the little skull consoles. It's really nice to play on and gonna be really nice once I get a Spec Ops campaign going.

Got the Big Fella's lascannon done, fairly simple to do, just did some touchups before using Nuln Oil (on the metal and blue panel) and Agrax Earthshade (on the red bits) and edge highlighting with stormhost silver, calgar blue, and evil sunz scarlet. I wasn't sure how the red guns were gonna look when I started on this one but I think they look really nice! After this I just have to do the legs, base, and unarmored torso bits.

Another day, another tutorial game

My buddy's Ork Kommandos versus my Assault Intercessors. Mission was 3.3 Stealth Offensive from Moroch.

The Wings of Malice Intercession squad managed to grab some early victories with a single frag granade setting off a chain of explosions from the Ork squig that obliterated half the ork team within seconds.

However, the Heralds of the Chalice became a bit too bloodthirsty afterwards, and commited one too many tactical blunders, letting the orks capture two objectives at the last second.

All in all, Borti mentioned that he enjoyed his first game immensely and emediatly asked if we could repeat it for the weekend. So I'd count todays game as successes all across the board.

Una vez en un debate con pibes y pibas de secundaria había un pibe morocho. Morocho como esos pibes a los que la yuta le pide el documento, o que detiene porque supuestamente a un vecino le pareció sospechoso que se juntara con otros pibes y pibas, moroches como él, a ranchar en una esquina. Bueno, la cosa es que estábamos hablando de la yuta, y este pibe dice

"si yo soy policía, y a mí me mandan a reprimir, yo reprimo"

Y repito, era un pibe morocho, de escuela pública, no uno blanquito de escuela privada que seguro escuchó en la casa que "hay que matar a todos los negros de mier**".

Y no es de sorprender, muches que se hacen policías son pibes y pibas cuya salida laboral más próxima y rápida es ésta. Y si la institución es una porquería, estos pibes y pibas ya tienen instalada la idea, compartida por gran parte de la sociedad, que el deber de la policía es obedecer y reprimir. Y si esto sirve para demostrar que elles, a diferencia de otros morochos y morochas, no son unos "negros de mier**", mejor.

Lamentablemente nadie nace con conciencia de clase.

Nope. One of the horrific parts about cops is that they. Are. People. They're people who are willing to do horrible things. They are horrible people. But they are still people.

Also, the moment you say "they do those things and perpetuate those systems therefore they're not people" you're absolving yourself from ever having to examine your own actions and beliefs and making sure they don't also feed into things like that even accidentally. And that's bad too.

The new Traitor Guard Militarum Traitoris look great, really putting the old Cadian and Catachan kits to shame. Between these, the existing Blackstone Fortress antagonists and the forthcoming cultists, you should be able to do a pretty substantial Alpha Legion list in the new Chaos Space Marine Codex.

Phobos Marines have never really done much for me, but the kit’s a great source of bits and another specialist upgrade set won’t go amiss.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU CRUS...

...start a Crusade!

Possibly my worst effort yet.

It of course means that I finally popped into my FLGS and signed up for the Crusade league (competitive narrative!) they were running over the next few months.

This little lot below were my initial list for the 25PL round of matches, and, in fact, I played my first league game today. More on that later...

Struggling for hobby motivation in the heat, I went for an easy-ish win of building some more space marines. I used the sprue from the Kill Team: Moroch box (and another I picked up for cheap on ebay) to make some specialists for my Infiltrator and Incursor squads.

The bits on the sprue enable you to make a (l-r) Saboteur, Voxbreaker, and Marksman, unit upgrades available when running the Phobos-heavy Vanguard Spearhead army of renown.

The first set of three were mostly based on the listed build instructions, the Marksman varying the most (actually sniping rather than adjusting his scope). The second three involved a bit more conversion - melta bomb swap for the haywire mine, Voxbreaker with a detached servo skull and a hand-swap from the comms operator.

Also part of the Vanguard Spearhead, I got 90% of the way through building an Invictor Tactical Warsuit as well. Most of the time being spent on posing him with a foot up on a barrel. Second one should be simpler!

And so the Crusade league!

Playing at the community meet-ups had left me wanting to be playing 40k more regularly. I pottered down to the game store and made some enquiries, and a slow-build Crusade league sounded perfect.

I put together my all-round, all-comers 25PL list - a little bit of anti-armour, some psychic, lots of chaff-clearing shooting and melee, and Herja for some heavy chopping. And a cyberwolf, of course.

Turns out all-round, all-comers list was not necessarily the way others had decided to go.

My first match was against Grey Knights, consisting of a Dreadknight, Terminators, and some servitors to hold objectives. The second I saw the list, I knew I was in trouble. I won the roll-off and decided to go second - if I shot at the Dreadknight, it could teleport into my lines, so I let it try to make it under its own steam. It did, and proceeded to gun down a chunk of my army. They used Gate to send the Terminators into the Eliminators, and they spectacularly whiffed their melee rolls leaving one alive. He did not last long.

The only chance I had left was to send Herja heroically into the Dreadknight, and despite making nine hits from six attacks thanks to being in the Assault doctrine, and taking nine of its thirteen wounds, it was still standing. She was cut down in return. The rest of my army was then quickly mopped up. At least I saved on parking costs!

A sound beating, but one that was expected. Salamanders are next - a Gravis Captain, block of 6 Aggressors, and some Infiltrators. Another extremely solid nut to crack...

I know I hadn't posted anything original in a hot minute, but work has been a whole mess the last month or so, so that all culminated into like two weeks of horrible headaches...

In the relm of Kill Team, managed to play a few rounds, mostly teaching some of my friends to play, but I made a mistake in trying to teach her how to play yesterday:

Basically, she chose to play some of my Sororitas for the game, with which I've had some trouble doing anything in the past. We played Demolitions from Moroch, and I ended up wining by 1 point, purely due to my Helix Adept being an absolute chad and tanking a sister superior and two warriors trying to table my entire team.

No lesson was learned, I'm playing with wagers next.
