I’m on the road and it’s endless brown. Brown land, brown dirt, brown mountains. There are a few sparse trees and I see something moving in the branches.

What in the world is this?!

I pull into the dirt turn out and see a whole herd of goats inhabiting the trees like birds! I realize they are climbing the trees for the most delicious green leaves. I’m geeking out, but their owner, a Berber herder isn’t amused, doesn’t smile, nor feels like entertaining or interacting with me. That’s okay, no one is required to give me their time.

So I just geeked out by myself laughing in the dirt trying to talk to these goats on my own. But the shepherd call his goats over to me so I could take more photos. Even stern people are nice people

Goodbye to the mountains!

I stayed in the mountainous village of Ouanskra where there wasn’t a single restaurant or cafe. It was very remote, but that’s what I wanted. Just complete isolation. However, there’s a trade off…That meant I was just stuck eating the food at the BnB I stayed at. I got food poisoning and threw up my meals two days in a row. I think it was the lack of hygiene in preparing the food. I don’t eat meat, so it was definitely the cleanliness factor

I tried to rest, but instead emptied my body of any nutrients. It’s time to move and find proper nutrition! Life never goes according to plan.
