Tease tidbit Tuesday

I have….started a new au. Girl dads bucktommy with transmasc buck getting to be a seahorse dad so content warning for trans pregnancy and mentions of labor. this au has bewitched me body and soul and I’m dragging @try-set-me-on-fire down with me <3 <3 so here’s a doodle of happy dads with their fresh baby (Bobby took the picture)

When Eddie grabs Tommy by the crook of his good elbow, Tommy falters. He feels off balance, his stomach swooping and head spinning as he tries to keep up with Eddie’s rapid pace. “Eddie— wait, wait— what’s going on?”

Eddie stops, staring at Tommy before his eyebrows shoot up to his hairline. “You don’t know? Fuck— of course you don’t know, shit.” Eddie smacks his forehead with the heel of his hand.

“Don’t know what?” Tommy can feel his stomach sinking, “Eddie, what don’t I know?”

“Buck is here at the hospital. He’s in labor.”

It feels like the world shifts under Tommy’s feet and no amount of hospital grippy socks will keep him from falling. He sucks in a shuddering breath, and then another when it feels like the first one doesn’t ever reach his lungs.

“Wh–what? But, but he was fine– he wasn’t–” The backs of Tommy’s knees hit the edge of the bed and he sways, only his white knuckle grip on the bed rail keeps him from crashing backward. His next breath comes in too quick, whistling between his teeth as his vision tunnels.

so the drunk eddie fic is finished! i'm hoping to post it sunday!!! i started a smutty sequel since i didn't think the smut fit into the original but i'm not sure how i feel about it so i might can it. anyway have a lil snip from the sequel that may or may not continue to exist

If Eddie and Buck had been watching the movie that played in the background, they certainly weren’t anymore. Instead they were making out on the couch like a couple of teenagers, the high of getting together still flowing through their veins.

Eddie nipped Buck’s bottom lip, making him open up. He moaned lowly as Eddie dominated his mouth, letting out a soft sigh as Eddie cupped his cheek.

“Should we—” Buck said in-between kisses, Eddie letting him up for air so he could get his words out. “Should we slow down?”

Eddie pulled back, licking his lips. “Do you want to slow down?”

“No,” Buck shook his head vigorously.

“Then we’re good,” Eddie smiled, his thumb caressing Buck’s cheekbone. “I don’t want to slow down either. I think we’ve waited long enough.”

“Well, when you put it that way,” Buck grinned, pushing at Eddie’s shoulder so he was sitting with his back against the couch instead of turned. Buck swung his leg over Eddie’s lap and straddled him, grinding against him and making Eddie moan.

“Tommy,” Bobby warns, like he’s prepared to nip this line of thinking in the bud, “there’s no way Sal could have known you’d be here today.”

“If anything,” Hen tries to reason, “he’s doing this to get back at Cap for firing him. I mean, you saw him down there, he threw Bobby’s words right back in his face.”

“We all know how Sal can get,” Chimney says, a little dismissive as he reaches past Eddie to get at the strawberries Bobby had earlier laid out; and, popping one into his mouth he says, “this is just one of those seven-year grudges.”

“…longer than that.” Tommy amends and he swallows, running his thumb along the edge of the table to distract himself, “Sal went up for the Captain’s test three years after they fired Gerrard.”

“So, it’s a ten-year grudge.” Chimney shrugs, all nonchalant.

“Wait.” Hen backtracks, and she steps out from behind Tommy’s chair to look at him, “I never heard about any Captain’s test.”

“…because he failed.” Evan realizes, without Tommy having to say it.

3. A fic that made you laugh out loud

so i shared a couple here but there have been a few others!

for rwrb All the Lonely Starbucks Lovers by @kiwiana-writes actually had me in tears. they've written a couple things that cracked me up but that one had me cackling.

Bogarted (teen wolf) by @halffizzbin (hi julie!) is one that lives rent free in my head all these years later.

for 911 (buddie) i'd have to go with I Hate Accidents (Except When We Went From Friends to This) by morganofthefairies because (1) they're idiots who share a brain cell and (2) chim's exasperation with their idiocy is so funny.

aaaand for hawaii five-0 (mcdanno) i really do love Curiosity Didn't Kill This Cat by unadrift. danny having a crisis is almost always funny.

6. A fic that made you smile on a bad day

the one i've reread (mumbles number) of times to help with a bad day is the bright as the morning, soft as the rain series (911/bucktommy) from @bucktheally. it is delightful and buck being a bisexual disaster, especially when faced with a confident tommy, will never not be catnip to me.

I do! I fall behind sometimes, but I always catch up! 💃

What is the podfic fic you recorded wrote with the angstiest ending?

Pretty much everything I've ever podficced ends happily or with some sort of hopeful ending. I have to go with [Podfic] the nighttime fear (see it coming from the edge of the room) which was written by @extasiswings. It's a short introspective piece with no happy ending. I don't think there is another that ends unhappily for me to even consider, honestly.

What's the podfic fic you recorded wrote with the happiest ending?

LMAO! They're pretty much all end happily, as I just said.

Do you get hate on podfics fics?

No. Never.

Do you record write smut?

Oh yeah. I've recorded plenty. 😂

Craziest crossover?

I've only recorded one, and it wasn't crazy considering it was just a 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star crossover. It was [Podfic] These Are My Stompin' Grounds written by @benjaminrussell.

Are you fucking kidding me? How am I supposed to choose? Probably Buddie, even though that feels wrong because it's not even my current hyperfixation. I've never created as much for another ship though.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh, I'm gonna finish all my shit. Don't you worry.

What are your podficcing writing strengths?

Fuck. Idk? I think I have good pacing and emote really well. And my editing has improved tremendously over the years.

What are your podficcing writing weaknesses?

I'm hypercritical and tend to overedit at times. To the point that it sounds unnatural. I'll also just shove entire projects to the side if I don't meet my own standards, so there are quite a few things haunting me from the WIP folder atm.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I've very rarely had to record in another language. Especially in the last few years. For my Mag7 podfics, there's a bit of Spanish and a small amount French, and they're kind of embarrassing for me to listen to. I've honestly considered taking them down, but I know there are people who enjoy them. So, I never do. There's a bit of Spanish in at least two of my early 9-1-1 podfics as well. I always try my best with it, but I only speak English, so I'm always super paranoid about fucking it up. I'll avoid recording entire fics just because there are other languages in them.

Favorite podfic fic you've recorded written?

[Podfic] Carbon Date Me, Excavate Me written by @extasiswings and @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels is my fucking baby. I've listened to that fucking podfic so many times...

But my current favorite that I listen to regularly is [Podfic] nothing is safe written by @foxflowering which is my BG3 podfic. I have other BG3 projects in my WIP folder, but I'm so self-conscious about my ability to voice those characters that they're not coming out anytime soon. I was hyperfixated af on this ship for a while though and listened to this damn podfic on repeat. Also, @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels guest starred in it, so it has a special place. <3

Some more from girls dad’s bucktommy fic. bobby holds Annie for the first time…I’m sorry.

“Her name is Annie Bobby Kinard.”

“Oh.”

Bobby stumbles, the world tilting under his feet, the only thing keeping him grounded is the warm weight in his arms.

The back of his knees meet the chair at the side of the bed and Bobby sits down heavily. His chest is tight, his face hot, the heat bleeding into his cheeks, down his throat, into his nose and behind his eyes where it prickles with the threat of tears.

“O-oh,” he croaks out again.

He sucks in a great gulping breath, but it catches, hitching in the back of his throat. His chin trembles. He tries again, the wet rasp of his inhale echoing in his ears, but his exhalation comes too fast, too loud. It explodes from his chest with a sob, the force of it cracking his ribs open and letting his heart spill out into the small bundle in his arms.

He cries. Big, loud sobs that wrack his entire frame as he bows his head and presses it into the soft folds of Annie’s blanket and breathes in the new scent of her through his clogged nose. His tears are soaking into the fabric and he wants to apologize, but nothing leaves his mouth except for another wretched sob.

Bobby never thought he would have this— he thought he had killed all his chances to be a grandfather. And with Buck— with Buck he never dared to hope. He never allowed himself the thought that he was as much of a father to Buck as Buck was a son to him. He didn’t let himself imagine it, didn’t think he deserved to stake that claim even in the privacy of his own mind.

Finally Eddie clicked on Chimney’s contact and put the phone up to his ear as it rang.

“Hello?”

Eddie was of course expecting to hear Chimney’s voice but he was surprised when instead he heard Maddie’s.

“Oh, hey Maddie, it’s Eddie,” He stumbled, not quite slurring his words but it was clear he wasn’t exactly sober. “Sorry, I was just calling to talk to Chim about something.”

“Sorry he passed out when he got home. He was in the middle of playing tea party with Jee too so he’s currently wearing a tiara and Jee-Yun is doing his makeup. It’s adorable.” Maddie laughed, warmth and love for her family clear in her voice.

Eddie chuckled. “Yeah, we had a long shift today so I’m not surprised.”

“So what’s up? Anything I can help with?” Maddie asked curiously.

“I—” Eddie wasn’t really sure what to say. He couldn’t exactly go into the specifics about his crush to Buck’s sister, could he? If you had asked him while he was sober he would have said absolutely not, but drunk as he was, Eddie began to speak. “It’s Buck.”
