It's great to hear your vacation is going well! Any highlights from your trip?

Aw, thanks so much for asking! Tumblr did not let me share photos over mobile, so I had to wait until I got back to answer. The whole trip was amazing, though! My sister and I hopped from Sydney to Brisbane to Cairns, and had some amazing, unforgettable experiences! We learned about Aboriginal culture - the first settlers who occupied Australia before white colonists invaded and pulled the same shit they historically have in countless other countries where they attempt cultural genocide (also why are Americans not taught about this in our schools?? I'll rant more about this in a separate post). We toured the Sydney Opera House and botanical gardens, I got hilariously drunk and threw up in the Sydney Harbor, I held a koala, fed and hung out with kangaroos, I swam in the Great Barrier Reef, went sand-boarding on Moreton Island, canoed around a shipyard and hand-fed whole schools of fish, saw some beautiful, clear beaches, and explored the Daintree Rainforest - the oldest rainforest in the entire world, and the birthplace of thousands of the world's plant species! :o Dinosaurs ate from these trees!

One of the most scenic walking trails in the park takes you to Twin Falls. About 4km return, this track passes through ancient palms, dense rainforest and behind two lush waterfalls.

One of the most iconic spots in the park to explore is called The Natural Arch (or Bridge) and is a 1km trail from the car park.

Follow the marked trail down the rocky trail and some paved steps to find a waterfall that flows through a natural rock made archway.

2. Queensland’s Fraser Island

Located on the scenic Tasmanian Peninsular, the infamous prison site is a history buff’s dream come true. If you’ve ever planned a holiday with your taste buds’ happiness as your main consideration, well, you’re in good company. Julaymba Restaurant & Gallery, Daintree River

This cellar door slash craft brewery restaurant boasts an innovative menu with dishes like honey bug with burnt butter, scampi caviar, and yuzu koshu; and an impressive cheese selection.

Rick Shores, Burleigh Heads

Whoever Rick is, he sure knows his way around a good water view. Jutting out over the edge of the Burleigh headland on the Gold Coast, the Thai-based modern Asian menu is a spicy contrast to the sweet, sweet eye candy as the sun sets over one of Queensland’s most famous beaches.

Salt House Bar & Restaurant, Cairns

You’ll get double the views at Tropical North Queensland’s Salt House Bar & Restaurant: straight into the kitchen (where the magic happens); and over Cairns Marina with views of the yachts, and out towards the Coral Sea.
