Frothing at the mouth I need more soft content if Taiju, Yuzuriha, and Senku
Things like Senku being known to despise physical contact, only for Taiju to regularly run over and give him the bear hug of his life
Taiju getting caught up in explaining things with more onomatopoeia than proper words because he can't remember them, and Yuzuriha holding a conversation with him as if he's speaking Shakespeare
Yuzuriha, famously known for being absurdly nice doing something like calling Senku an idiot when he tells her that she needs to take a break. Her throwing things out like "look at the pot calling the kettle black"
#just#them#i also realize that this kinds of makes it seem like I think Taiju is dumb#I don't think he is#I just think he's not very good with words#moreso street smarts than book smarts#if that makes sense#oki taiju#ishigami senku#ogawa yuzuriha#dr stone

can we get a bit of info about each kid?
[YAPPING TIME, LETS GO!!! - OP]
In addition to the info presented here:
Larry has the least amount of abilities in comparison to his siblings. With only fire breathing and magic blasts, Larry has to get creative in battle. He'd actively practice to get better at magic... if he had the level of commitment required. As mentioned in the first post, he started the ask blog to avoid problems with press - but it's also because he adores any attention he can get. Makes him feel special (T▽T)
Lemmy and Larry are birds of a feather.
Larry could be considered the weakest of the seven, but Lemmy is undoubtedly the smallest. The two hang out more than anything, and can always rely on each other when they need company.
In addition to fire breathing and magic blasts, Lemmy is capable of casting illusions and summoning those silly circus balls he can run over opponents with. A feat achievable with an enhanced balance and acrobatic support in comparison to the others.
Morton is more complicated than he seems. What he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in compassion and perception. Streets smarts rather than book smarts. He can tell when something is wrong much faster than the others and is quick to act on it. He's even quicker to put himself in between those he loves and any trouble.
At the moment, he's struggling with anxiety surrounding that specifically. A hunch that there's a danger lurking, ready to attack if he doesn't keep an eye out. (It's not exactly an unfounded one, it's come up after the events of Bowser Jr's Journey where he and his siblings were forced under mind control... that'd make anybody a little worried.)
Only time will tell if he's actually right on this hunch.
(There was this sighting, but... not really reliable)
Similar to Roy, he's one of the strongest Koopalings (he knows this), as such, barely needs to use magic in battle instead of his brute force. So, he thinks learning to use it is a waste of time.
Iggy is EXTREMELY hyperactive, and loud. If there's one thing he doesn't have, it's any lack of intelligence. He's the fastest Koopaling, and prides himself on being a genius (though mad genius is a better way to put it).
His impulsivity can bar him from making the BEST decisions, but his own unpredictability gives him a leg up when required.
Owns a pet Chain Chomp named Chompi, who he treats like a pitbull named Princess. (Most accurate description of that thing as he is GLAD to sic on either unsuspecting plumber).
Wendy is sweet, but extremely cunning. She uses that sweetness to get whatever she wants out of someone, almost imperceptively, whether that be a chat, sweets, or information. (She understands the saying "You'll catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar" and by god does she USE IT.)
She does use magic, moreso for convenience rather than a true desire to learn. She's content with what she knows already. (Sometimes she wishes she could use hypnosis though...)
Good Lord, Roy. On the outside, a tough guy. On the inside, reasons upon reasons to be that way. Dude has layers.
He's a believer in tough love, as such, isn't as outwardly affectionate towards any of his siblings - however, he will still defend them just as fiercely in the event of an emergency.
One of his most important dislikes is the dislike of press
(This one's actually shown up from as far back as the intro post!)
He considers news reporters to be vultures waiting to use something against him and his family. (This is due to a past experience out of canon that's kind of tainted his view on all sorts of press entirely. And makes his relationship with this ask blog pretty complicated too...)
Ludwig has similar beliefs to Roy (Tough love and all that) but he can't help but be a BIT affectionate here and there. However, he's barely had the time due to what he's been doing on his day to day. He keeps a very tight schedule, training at every opportunity he gets, whether it be magic, or hand-to-hand combat, and as mentioned previously, barely sleeps. Not for the best reasons, either. He doesn't have the same anxiety Morton does that something bad's coming their way. He just wants to prove to someone (and himself) that he's the best at what he does.
[If you guys need more specific info, pls ask, these are practically the basics - OP]

@aerospectrum asked: "Sure I'm a little stupid, but that's like 80% of my charm!" from the tumblr text post meme
the way paxton saw it, he really didn't have any ground to stand on by calling someone stupid. sure, he had met plenty of people that were far from street smart, but he didn't feel that he was all that smart himself. never really had the drive to learn things that didn't really matter. then he withdrew himself from society pretty much and lived a quiet life, woodworking and bartending. no friends to speak about. sometimes he would read, but not too often. moreso the typical things that helped him preoccupy his mind from the guilt and whatifs had worn off their charm so he picked up a historical book from the local library.
❝ now who told you you were charming? ❞ there's almost a smile on paxton's lips before he turned to help a customer. if he were honest, he would admit that jamie was rather charming. he'd broke into paxton's walls a bit more than he cared to admit in the time they had known each other. turning back to jamie, he grabs the empty mug between them and tops off the other man's beer. ❝ wouldn't call you even a little stupid, either. persistent, sure. trying to make conversation with the grumpy bartender every time he works. ❞

No one asked for this, but here's my type from anime and games because I'm bored and I don't want to think about finals.
1. Quiet and protective
A guy who's just... there. They're usually a softie, but the moment you harm someone they care about... Woooo boy you gone get beat. Usually, because they're at a distance, they don't speak much. (Bonus points if they have a mask). No matter how dangerous they are, I consider them such sweethearts and will die for any of them.
Ex:
Shin-ah from Yona of the Dawn

Saito from Hakuouki
Morinozuka from Ouran High School Host Club
Mikage Hisoka from A3
Gin from Hotarubi no Mori e
Erden from My Husband Hides His Beauty

Jotaro from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (no I will not explain this one)
Godot from Ace Attorney
Hakuya Mitsumine from Engaged to the Unidentified
Pale Ghost from Niflheim (a no longer available shall we date game)
Yoo Chunyoung from Inso's Law

2. Short and Angry
No, I don't like a character just because they are short. I just so happen to like characters who are short. These little guys have short fuses, even with their respective MCs. Honestly, it's really easy to get them riled up and is very amusing Bonus points if they are tsunderes. Frankly, I think it'd just be fun to tease them and watch as they internally combust.
Ex:
Edward Elric (a classic) from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Hitsugaya from Bleach
Nishinoya from Haikyuu

Syo Kurusu from Uta no Prince Sama
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu from Danganronpa
Yukine from Noragami

Heisuke Toudou from Hakuouki
Lucas from Who Made Me A Princess (debatable, but putting him here for now)
3. Himbos
Only recently did I realize this was a type I liked. Something about being simple to understand is endearing. Fit, attractive men with low intelligence (sometimes moreso in street smarts than book smarts) and kind hearts are what define a himbo and I love every part.
Ex:
Beelzebub from Obey Me
Shinpachi Nagakura from Hakuoki
Omi Fushimi from A3
Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney
Inquisitor Barnham from Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
Sherlock Holmes from Ace Attorney (not released outside of Japan but I found a playthrough with english subtitles) (wow you'd think if they're attorneys that they'd be smarter (。•ᴗ-)✧)
Takeshi Yamamoto from Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Outliers
There are just some characters I like that don't fit nicely into these categories. Either don't match at at or fit more than one.
Ex:
707 from Mystic Messenger
Ray from Mystic Messenger
Genos from One Punch Man
Gilgamesh from Fate/Zero (didn't like his character but as soon as I saw this

it was over and now lives rent free in my mind forever).
Most Male Leads from Manhwas (from the ones I've read, none are really a type? They're just generally likable somehow which I don't get)
Not sure if that was worth a read or not, but it's off my chest now. Please refer to the above if you wish to know my preferences I guess. Feel free to ask about it too. I'm still really bored.
#totally not a distraction#definitely doesnt influence what character i write#or draw#tsunderes are just great#same with himbos#who made me a princess#insos law#ace attorney#phoenix wright#professor layton#otome games#hakuouki#shall we date#bleach#noragami#katekyo hitman reborn#fate zero#yona of the dawn#obey me#a3! actor training game#hotarubi no mori e#my husband hides his beauty#uta no prince sama#full metal alchemist#full metal alchemist brotherhood#danganronpa#jojos bizarre adventure#mystic messenger#one punch man#i think i broke the tags

Character Background
Lilja Alekov-Roze -
Lilja was born in the Russian state Latvia, raised in the shadows as her parents avoided fatal fates from the Russians, working at farms and sleeping in the cold forests with little. When Latvia became independent, Lilja's father got a job at a small office, while her mother worked at a small textile factory. She raised herself, both book and street smart, wandering Riga and observing everyone. When World War Two began, and Russia took back Latvia, Lilja and her parents went back into hiding, where her father and mother joined a resistance group. During the Nazi invasion of Latvia, her father refused to work with the Germans and was killed; and while her and her mother ran away, her mother was discovered by the Russians one night and killed. Alone, Lilja joined the Latvian Nationlist Union and became a guardian angel of Jews, managing to hide and safely migrant 70 Jewish families. During the Russian invasion to take back Latvia, Lilja is taken by a self operated German group and handed over to German scientist and doctor Edward Richtofen, where she became his test subject. The last source of Lilja's status was recorded in 1945, briefly after Germany's surrender.
In a report made in 1942, Lilja is said to have been a sniper in a German Legion, only to turn up as a spy and kill the whole squad before disappearing.
Ultimis Relationships -
Lilja has a deep hatred towards Richtofen and Nikolai, although she is cautiously comfortable around Nikolai, remarking him as "dumber than a speck of dirt" and a "big drunk with no life."
Lilja is more calm around Dempsey, often complimenting him on good kills, and being nicer after reviving him. Dempsey is also closer to Lilja than the others, and treats her with respect and rarely makes remarks on her body.
The relationship between Lilja and Takeo is quiet and content, although both are wary of each other greatly.
Primis Relationships -
As the youngest between the Primis, Lilja is shown to be dressed in a more dark attire, marking her time in hiding and fighting against the Russians. In a collected intel report, it is said she reluctantly agreed to work with a undercover Russian group to capture Edward Richtofen, in exchange for the safety of her parents. She went to Northern France in 1917, and any source of her status was removed completely.
Unlike her quiet and collected older self, Lilja is more talkative, energetic, and meaner. She is somewhat manipulative, moreso towards Richtofen, as she is more desperate to complete her now seemingly impossible mission. She soon becomes more empathic to Richtofen, but after capturing Nikolai's Ultimis' soul, she becomes guarded and pushes him away.
With Nikolai, Lilja is still guarded and even more angrier, but during Der Eisendrache, Nikolai makes an effort to try proving that he wants to be her ally, even promising that if they ever get out of their situation alive, he would provide protection for her and family without being paid back with anything. Lilja makes a joking remark "and I'll protect you from your own" and they start getting closer.
Lilja is slightly protective over Takeo, and the two enjoy making fun of the others and seem to have each other's back more than their Ultimis selves. Lilja is the first to comfort Takeo after his Ultimis self's death, and he is the first to comfort her with hers.
Dempsey is more charismatic than his older self, but is also respectful and never steps over the invisible boundaries. Lilja is grateful and they are the peacemakers of their group, and seem to have bets about the other three behind their backs about something.
"I bet you 15 shotgun shells that Nikolai would complain about Quick Revive."
"I bet you my ray gun that Nikolai would love Quick Revive."
Being the youngest of the group, they tend to be more childish around each other but act mature when situated with the others.

The Good Side [DLM]
You and Draco lament on what could’ve been and what would’ve been fun had things been different.
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Reader
Words: ~2.1k
A/N: I took a lot of liberties writing Draco out, so I’m sorry if the characterization is a little whack. (any draco writers out there...advice is welcome pls message huhu) i hope u guys enjoy it nonetheless <3
The sun beat down on the northern part of Diagon Alley that day. It was the transitional period between summer and spring, where the weather hit just the right spot and everyone was out to enjoy their time. It was quite the contrast to what you and Draco had come to discuss at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Shop.
Draco was sat across from you, people-watching while scooping up his raspberry ice cream. You decided against ice cream that day, with your hands folded gracefully on your lap. You and he would occasionally steal glances at each other, trying to urge each other to start the conversation. Whether it was pride or shyness that hindered you two from talking, you were not sure. The heat was starting to get to you, as you were now starting to get annoyed with the silence you two didn’t need to share.
“How’s the MACUSA and Ministry effort?” Draco starts, as though he were aware of the irritation building inside you. He was always one step ahead of you, a skill he still proved to have been proficient at even though it had been years after you two parted ways.
“Same old, same old–only I spearhead it now.” You answer him quite proudly. He stops picking at his ice cream to flash a smile your way.
“I always told you’d get it, didn’t I? The Ministry would be fools to let such talent go to waste.”
A heavy pause blankets you both. The air between you two was a tripe mixture of nostalgia and despondency. As uncomfortable as it was, neither of you made moves to fuel the conversation further. Draco picks at his cup again, and you fixate on a wizard carrying a stack of books making his way out of Flourish and Blott’s.
You take a deep breath in, “Alright, I think it’s time to save us the awkwardness, yeah?”
Draco puts down his ice cream cup, turning his body and chair to face you. He perches his folded hands on the table and looks at you intently. Your body is still facing the street the ice cream shop overlooks, but your head is turned to look back at him.
“I need the ring back.” He states his purpose simply.
“Then, you’ll get it back. Need not worry, Draco.” You grab your purse and shuffle through its contents until you finally palm the velvet ring box. You gently place the box on the table.
“Perfect.” Draco says to you, as he opens the ring box, examining the emerald ring inside.
“When are you planning on asking Astoria?” You ask Draco, trying to make your tone as neutral as possible.
“All I can say is soon. I just know I’m going to marry her.”
You won’t lie to yourself and say that there isn’t a small part of you that finds this deeply saddening. Draco and your’s relationship was good, to say the least–as good as it gets as childhood acquaintances to Slytherin housemates to lovers. All firsts were shared with each other: first kiss, first time, first I love you’s. You watched him as he received the Dark mark, held his hand through Lucius’ trial after the war, and watched each other in the early stages of your respective careers. It wasn’t the beginning and middle that was terrible so much as the end. There was never any big event that had caused either of you to fall out of love. There was no third party, no betrayal, no selfishness, no greed. It was quiet–that was the best way you could describe it–the ending crept up on the both of you, sleeping on your chests until the weight became too heavy to shudder away. You looked at each other and no longer sought each other out in the future. The breakup itself was amicable and neutral, with the both of you accepting that you had merely outgrown each other, despite having grown together. On some nights, imagining what could’ve been sent you down two paths, where you either resented each other or fell back in together. It bothers you sometimes to think of the latter, but you know well enough it was going to be the former.
You smile sweetly at Draco in response, looking back down at your hands as you were at a loss for words.
“I’m glad you found someone, I really am.” You say as you finally unknot the tie your tongue was in.
Draco looks around, as though making sure no one would be able to hear the next sentence to fall out of his mouth. “D’you ever think we could’ve made it to that point?”
“You did propose to me, hence why we’re here.” You chuckle lightly and continue, “but, I think we would’ve grown to hate each other, if I’m being honest, Draco.”
Draco squints to look up at the sun, trying to muster a response.
You look back at him with your mouth twisted into a half-smile, brows furrowed, mildly amused that he asked. He finally turns to you and catches your expression, making him smile slightly.
“Why do you think that?” Draco asks you intently.
“Well, I think we just became different people. It wasn’t anyone’s fault.”
One of the things Draco had to learn was choosing his words carefully before speaking them. He was never keen on being heedful with what he’d say, as evidenced by his formative years at Hogwarts, even when he was talking to you. However, his early years in litigation forced him to catch his tongue before it made any unfavorable comment on stakeholders during a trial. His eyes were shut in deep concentration, trying to map out what to say next to you.
“What happened between us?” Draco asks you. “I still ask myself that a lot sometimes. Not for anything, but it’s just hard for me to understand. It just happened upon us, quickly too might I add.”
You take a few moments to ponder, to craft out your dialogue, “It wasn’t that anything happened, Draco. It was moreso that nothing happened at all.”
“Did we grow to hate each other, is that it?” Draco tries hard to hide his classic schoolboy sneer, but fails.
“Draco, I could never hate you. You of all people should know that.” You huff out, suddenly frustrated at his tone.
“Sorry, [Y/N], that didn’t come out quite right.”
“S’alright, I understand.”
Draco curses himself for the drastic change in mood, he didn’t mean for it to happen.
“It’s just strange to think, I suppose.” He asks again, more careful now with his tone.
“What is?” You turn your head to face him. Suddenly, the years you spent apart are splayed on his face in developing forehead wrinkles and tired eyes. You are studying the new features on his face intently, making sure that this is the Draco you had spent more than two decades with.
“Weren’t we always sure of what was to come to both of us? As though we had so much control over the next few years of our lives?”
You breathe in and close your eyes before you answer. In a flash, you are taken back to nights spent in the Slytherin common room, talking hypothetical situations with Draco–what you’d do if in the event the hospital made a mistake and you were having twins instead of one child, what if you became a quidditch star and he your number #1 fan instead of working for the Ministry, what if you both ran off to an island off the coast of Greece and raised sheep and never came back?
You reply to him solemnly, “I think the universe is funny that way, don’t you think?”
“Merlin, you sound like you belong with the quacks in the Department of Mysteries.”
“Shut up, it’s a saying muggles like to parrot, thought it would go nicely with the tone of conversation.”
Draco pauses and continues, “Didn’t we always have our own sense of time? That extended into our plans, who our hypothetical kids would be. It’s insane to me how that changed so fast,”
“I agree.” You tell him, “We were supposed to marry each other, for Merlin’s sake!”
Draco sighs, looking off to the side.
You never held any ill-intent with how you and Draco ended, but now you realize that was just you. Not once had you considered that he was hurting more than you due to the peaceful nature of the breakup. It was criminally naive of you to have thought Draco was just as at peace as you after ending a decade-long relationship.
“Well, do you hate me, Draco?” You ask him at your realization.
“More than 10 years together and, what? Four years apart, you think I could hate you?” Draco asks you, almost offended at your question. “You know the answer to that, [Y/N].”
“Were you ever angry at me? For how,” You pause trying to look for the term to best describe, “calm I was when I told you I wanted to leave?”
Draco’s practiced this conversation so many times in his head, but he still takes a moment to process the words he wants to use to convey his emotions. “For a time, yes. I was angry with you. But not the kind of angry I usually am. It was an anger that made me question so many things.”
“I had just always thought time was an excellent indicator of a strong relationship, I mean, 10 years? Would you question it then? A decade? So, to put it simply, I was angry–angry that time wasn’t enough to salvage what we had. But, I think that was naivety talking. This is in no offense to you at all, I cherish our time together so much so. But, Astoria? It’s as right as anything, and not even time could tell me how to feel about her.”
You look at Draco in awe, wondering when he had crossed the line from boy to man in the four years you spent apart. Draco was always smart, no doubt. But, this Draco sat in front of you–carefully choosing his words and explaining his emotions–it was entirely new. You reached over to hold Draco’s hand, but not in the way you and he would hold hands years ago. It was in an I’m proud of how far you’ve grown, type of way. Draco was taken aback, but understood quickly, always privy to your emotions, whether they were tacit or overt. He squeezed your hand back.
“[Y/N], I need you to know that you are such a huge part of who I am today, I can never discount that. Ever.” Draco says to you, your hand still in his. “We’ve done so much good for each other, we really have.”
“We really have, Draco. Astoria’s so lucky, she has to know that.”
Draco’s famous smirk makes an appearance on his mouth, “I’m damn well sure she knows.”
You throw your head back in laughter, letting go of his hand, “Merlin, there you are again–cocky boy from Slytherin.”
“Cocky boy from the litigation department, I’d rather hear that.”
You both laugh at each other like no time has passed. Like both of you were back in the Slytherin common room after bedtime talking about all the dumb things two teenagers thought were important at the time. You two catch up a little bit more, further detailing your efforts in dating and at the ministry (with the former being quite futile), and he diving into how he and Astoria came to be. You and Draco filled in the blanks from the last few years until the conversation boils down to a halt. You say your goodbyes, hugging each other, wishing each other well and walking toward opposite ends of Diagon Alley.
As much as you thought this a heavy task to fulfill, you left the conversation with a light heart and even lighter shoulders. There is relief you haven’t felt since you left Draco. The relationship, as good as it was, was best left how it ended. No mourning, no lamenting could rewrite the ending or the years succeeding it in the same way no regret or guilt could change the years prior to it. All you knew was the good that you and Draco left in the spaces between you two.

general info about c!mare (can ask more thru the ask game i just rbed if u want! unless ur finding this post like a month from now in which maybe not kekw)
[ note this is just an OC in the dsmp universe not trying to imply anything about the ccs obviously also this is slightly not canon compliant ]
c!mare uses they/them pronouns exclusively and identifies as aromantic (not romance-repulsed) and ... bisexual? (asexual? pansexual? queer? they don’t know)
lives away from the general SMP area in a place of seclusion that nobody (aside from fleeting glimpses of those mining + villagers) has found! though i know lore directly contradicts this, i did at one point imagine c!jack interacting with c!mare but, shrugs
a very curious person! a reserved extrovert, who stays quiet but gets more energy around people than alone. tends to be alone a lot. also fairly clever in a book-smart way but not so much street-smart, and a bit of a smartass
their biggest flaw is their curiosity. they’ve been lonely for a long time, only with villagers to trade with and the many books they’ve read, plus some wolves, that they want to know more about the world! and more. and more. and more. and more. they want to know everything about everyone, and if they feel like a secret is being withheld from them by someone they trust, they’ll feel betrayed and immediately jump to the offensive. they want to know because they deserve to know, they know so little!
positively fascinated with l’manberg. a little less so with las nevadas, but generally speaking they find both pretty neat. but very invested in l’manberg’s history as a nation
doesn’t like to align themself, not out of any real moral objection to that, moreso because they feel safer being an outsider (even if they hate being an outsider)
has died once. they don’t talk about it.
i imagine (again see note at start of this post!) that they would get along ‘well’ with c!jack, c!wilbur, c!fundy, and potentially c!ranboo. would likely get on less well with c!philza, c!quackity, and c!niki
anyway! let me know if you think this is crossing boundaries or anything and then i’ll take it down, but yeah! hope you like this :)

It was a pretty quiet September 11th around the city for a change. I took the train downtown for coffee near the river. I was all over the place yesterday. On foot, on skateboard, on train. On the platform, a woman who had been seated with her son approached me. She asked me softly what book I was reading. It was William Gibson's "Pattern Recognition." I had been carrying it mostly because I saw a woman holding a bag a few days prior with the words "always carry a book." You get clues from society sometimes of how not to be a douchebag. You learn to read the court. Know when to fake. Know when to pass the ball. Know when to dunk on a motherfucker. This was one time where I had a chance to follow through on that wager. I told her it was science fiction but written too long ago so that it just seems like reality. The least complex way I could explain it was science fiction meets advertising. I could hear her son groaning presumably in the background. Probably at me. But it was a thoughtful conversation. We both agreed that carrying a book was about as neutral as it gets. If someone wanted to talk to you they'd have to reference the literature you were holding. It beat doom scrolling through the news which we both agreed is always different but never changes. We also agreed books put us to sleep. I said that was probably why I liked to read them in transit so I could tune out the world. The train approached as she wished me a good day and I continued my journey of minding my own business. Chicago lately feels a little less intimidated by culture as it happens. Particularly in communities of color where I spend most of my time and foot traffic in. I don't really feel all that comfortable or at ease around white people for the most part. They're all too scared to be real and talk about anything unless they're drunk. One of my favorite white basketball players was inducted into the hall of fame. He's a cracker for sure but a Croatian American which is one third of my nationality. He was called "the waiter" in which he was famous for waiting to pass the ball at the right time. He won a game for the bulls with five seconds remaining. He could dunk from the foul line and so on. And he played on a team of athletes where he was the minority and got his due. He did well enough to get inducted in the Hall of Fame when all was said and done. But he achieved that through team work not through domination. I have all these situations where it might seem from a certain vantage point that I alone saved the day. That I'm some superhero. And my only power is getting along in the environment I'm in. An environment that people constantly report is unsafe, in flux and horribly toxic. It is when you don't do anything about it to change it And then again people are smart enough and connected enough to figure out ways to cope. That is if they talk to each other. It's not like New York or Hong Kong where everyone is so used to living side by side. Chicago loves to have space and defaults to awkwardness. It's gasping for air sometimes in that respect. You need to wear your heart on your sleeve at all times. What better than a good book?
It seems like I write one every week. There's so much to reference and yet it all seems like chaos to organize. I can get lost in my head for any number of reasons. The people I care about most are far away in some ways and not so much in others. But it is still all so very vague. Small interactions at least keep me from feeling attacked and isolated. I think we're all looking for a balance to be able to express what we feel out in the open normally. Everybody is so focused on crystalizing it online one sentence at a time. They react to a feed that's been frankensteined together for an ulterior agenda. You read it on the news and it must be true. And year after year it is never about you. They've since taken the model of activism and made it a fucking reality show with Usher. The prize culminates at the G20 where you face the secret tribunal and receive funding for your cause through some bizarre sectarian ritual. I'm sure this is not the truth of it. But activism like reading should be a passively active goal. It should be your compass on the high seas of adventure in a city like this. The reward should be the conversations you unlock. The things you can reflect on and write about. How I don't really feel self conscious talking to people on the spot anymore. If a member of the opposite sex came up to you and asked what you were reading what impression would they leave you with? I'm already changing the world around me. And there's things that I've done in the past that are great trivia but don't speak for the real me. I was invited to see some people dj down in Chinatown last night. It was by the river in a park. I had just gotten back from Little Italy to get Hong Kong style Indian food at a restaurant called Siri. All of this is within walking distance if you don't mind shin splints. Everybody can tweet away how they're afraid to visit Chicago for fear of getting shot by the gangs. I am on foot ninety percent of the time. There's crime and then there's crime. And then there's what five media conglomerates owned by five billionaires have to say about it. This is why I listen to publicly funded radio. I hurried back, burnt my mouth on dal makini and jumped back on the bus to the park. Everybody was there that I knew from footwork and magic the gathering. An impossible mix of people who nonchalantly know you as violet systems moreso than Tim. I hung out for an hour and left around eight thirty. I took another long walk home over an empty bridge overlooking the city. I did this all alone. Aside from the people I run into from the neighborhood on the block. I was free to do so. And Chicago is still that place no matter how mad I get at it. And it isn't going anywhere.
Seemingly neither am I. For all the bullshit I write about how frustrated I am with things, people do eventually get the message. Would you rather have them understand it organically or force your perspective? You can repeat the same thing over and over again and it becomes tired. About how you are so progressive that nobody in your city has actually heard of you. About how you are doing all these things to fix the future but aren't living life in the present. All it really takes is letting the world know you are stable. Getting your own chaos in order and operating from there. Maybe you inspire someone along the way. Maybe you start a conversation that has nothing to do with you. But it all starts with communication. Knowing when you've said enough. Knowing that simply showing people another side of you may change the dialogue. Living by example and not just talking about it. Maybe understanding that it isn't constructive to be fighting with the universe all the time. Maybe the peace we seek to achieve on the global level starts with the conversations within ourselves and not the society trying to galvanize public opinion. If we could just help people feel normal again maybe we would all deserve normalcy. September 11th was a horrible thing caused by an outdated mindset across the board. It is twenty years later and we still cower in fear. Mostly of our own country's shadow if we are Americans. We have since thought of our freedom as something to be shaken out of other people. To rattle and provoke each other to show our true selves like a bull in a glass house. We don't start small. We get egged on and thrown in such a paranoid mind state that we think everyone is out there just to roast us. We constantly feel we have to prove our patriotism to a peanut gallery of billionaire funded social networks. We chase money in the present instead of investing in better futures. We don't know when it's our time to pass the ball. Working as a team, you fear you will be forgotten. That somehow you won't get your slice of the bloated pizza pie and unevenly distributed future of the American dream. But we all live here oblivious to the freedom we have to build it back better ourselves. The billionaires aren't walking on these streets. They're blind to how it really works. Maybe it just starts with a book and an honest question. What am I reading these days? I'm reading into all the signals and they're coming back clear. Whatever I've written in the past is just context for whatever I write about in the future. And the future holds less terror because I am less fearful of being misunderstood. I still wear that bright pink heart on my sleeve. It's the team I represent. I'm just waiting for the right time to dunk from the foul line. For now I pass it back to you all until next week. <3 Tim

//okay either i am losing my mind, or there's no coconut question. if you figure out what that one was intended to be, or can send me the actual question, i'll get it! But!
🍅 : how does my muse feel about plastic / cosmetic surgeries & procedures? is it something they have done or would do? do they mind if others do it?
Okay, so, Scamp has a complicated relationship with her own appearance, so as you may have guessed, she doesn't have much of a problem with the idea of cosmetic surgery or procedures. They haven't personally done it, mostly because they worry about the "mistake soup" resulting in something unexpected happening to her as a side effect. But she's the last person to judge, if you do want to change something about how you look.
🍐 : how intelligent is my muse overall? are they smarter than the average person, or less than? are they primarily self-taught, or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school? are they more street smart or book smart?
So, Scamp is actually, despite what she will tell you, scarily intelligent. Moreso than the average troll. The crux of the issue is what she isn't, is particularly well educated. They were homeless from a very young age, and being a blood criminal meant they rarely got to stick around long enough to learn anything. Given the opportunity, Scamp is a fast learner, as evidenced by a few facts from her SGRUB days (primarily her dersite medical degree) but overall, definitely more street smart, and extremely emotionally intelligent.

The Silver Screen Savant, pt 2- the Meh, the Bad and The yikes.
Hello Writers!
Last time here on Starry Starry Write, I talked a little about Autism in the media and my personal experiences therein. Today, I’d like to go a little broader, and tackle the topic from a macro perspective.
In recent times, you’ve probably heard “Representation Matters” oft repeated. Especially in prominent talking spaces like social media. But what does that mean, exactly?
Why “Representation Matters,” and how.
The short answer:

Diverse representation in media tells us that everyone has a place in the world. That everyone’s story matters.
The long answer:
It’s no secret that we begin engaging with media at a young age. When I was growing up in the 90’s and 00’s, TV and video games were often the babysitters of my peers. I was one of the few kids in my neighborhood whose parents weren’t divorced. The kids I knew? Not so much. Most of them were raised by single parents, grandparents and of course-the boob tube. I personally prefered books, when my mom wasn’t yelling “it’s too nice out to be holed up in that dark bedroom!”
Now, don’t mistake my preference for some kind of intellectual superiority. I watched plenty of TV too. Besides, books aren’t magically out of the equation. Printed material is our oldest form of media. And- often just as problematic. Though I will say- I saw a much broader range of people on covers adoring library shelves than I ever did titles on a TV roster. But, I digress. The point is: for many of us, consuming media begins at an early time of our life. And that’s where the problem starts. Even in my childhood, where The Magic School Bus, Hey Arnold, and Sesame Street showed people of all kinds, I can point to many that did not. Especially not people like me. Which did me a grave disservice. I didn’t know I was on the spectrum for a long time, and when I finally found out, I was horrified, thanks to what I had seen on TV.
Because media is not only a wonderful way to learn about people that don’t look, act or sound like us. It also informs our ideas of who we are, and what we can be. Whether we like it or not: it shapes how we understand the world. And it doesn’t stop with Childhood.
Time Changes Much, but not all.

Things are better now. Well, a little bit, anyway.
As an adult, I see more people like me on the screen nowadays. Which is nice.
Ish.
Why “ish?” Well…
Frequently, these “noticeably different” characters (read: Autistically coded) are branded “NOT AUTISTIC!” You heard it here first, folks! That one character (insert your favorite) is Totally Not Autistic. Despite being written in a way that gives every indication otherwise.
*Facepalm*
Now for some examples, which we’ll call the “Meh,” “The Bad” and the “Yikes.” For “fun,” we’ll also go into the off-air perceptions of the characters.
The “Meh.”

First on the list is Dr. Spencer Reid, from CBS’s “Criminal Minds.”
Dr. Reid is the youngest member of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, having joined at the age of 22. He holds three B.A degrees in Sociology, Psychology and Philosophy, as well as three Ph.D’s in Engineering, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
He also has the social skills of a limp dishrag. Wait, what’s that? High Intelligence + Low Social Awareness? Hmmm…Then there’s his restrictive behavioral patterns, obsessive interests, and general “quirkiness!” that we could talk about. But let’s hear a quote from the actor who plays him, Matthew Gray Gubler:
“..an eccentric genius, with hints of schizophrenia and minor autism, Asperger’s Syndrome. Reid is 24, 25 years old with three PH.D.s and one can’t usually achieve that without some form of autism.”
Hoooo-boy. I could go into all the things wrong with this, including why the term “Asperger’s” is both horrific (TW: Eugenics,Ableism, N*zis) and harmful. However, today we’ll simply leave it with the fact that this term is no longer applicable, having been reclassified in 2013 as part of Autism Spectrum disorder.
The “Bad.”

Next up, we have Will Graham, from NBC’s Hannibal.
Like our first example, Will works for the FBI. He’s a gifted criminal profiler with “special” abilities, namely hyper empathy, which allows him to reconstruct the actions and fantasies of the killers he hunts. He’s intellectually gifted, hates eye contact, socializing, and prefers to spend…most of his time…alone.
Oh dear. Haven’t we been here before? But, I mean, he doesn’t have Autism! The show runner says so!
For Will Graham, there’s a line in the pilot about him being on the spectrum of autism or Asperger’s, and he’s neither of those things. He actually has an empathy disorder where he feels way too much and that’s relatable in some way. There’s something about people who connect more to animals than they do to other people because it’s too intense for whatever reason.
You can’t see me right now, but I’m cringing. A lot. This is just…ugh. I mean, for starters, I know a handful of autistic people who struggle with hyper empathy, which can make social situations overwhelming and hard to navigate. In fact, I happen to be one of them. Plus, there’s a cool little thing about how, frequently, people on the spectrum more readily identify with animals. But, y’know. Who am I to say? I’m just someone, one of many, who’s dealt with this my whole life.
Now, onto the “Yikes.”

*sigh*
And finally, we have BBC’s Sherlock, a modern adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s renowned “consulting” detective, and probably the most famous fictional character of all time.
Now, I’ll start by saying that the BBC incarnation is not the first to be Spectrum labeled. In fact, Sherlock was my childhood hero, and the first “person” I saw referred to this way. My aunt, an avid reader herself, casually remarked to a friend “I’ve always wondered if Holmes is Autistic,” after I came yammering on about how fantastic the books were. Had I not been champing at the bit to get back to my reading, I might have asked her what that meant.
I also believe this fandom driven speculation is why many detective type characters (see above) are often coded as Autistic, intentionally or otherwise.
In this New York Times article, Lisa Sanders, M.D. describes Holmes traits:
He appears oblivious to the rhythms and courtesies of normal social intercourse — he doesn’t converse so much as lecture. His interests and knowledge are deep but narrow. He is strangely “coldblooded,” and perhaps as a consequence, he is also alone in the world.
Now, before we go any father, let me take a moment to defend his creator. During the time Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first created his most famous work, Autism was not known. That isn’t to say it didn’t exist. We’ve always existed. In fact, it’s now believed that the Changeling Myth, a common European folk story, was a way to explain Autism. In one telling (there are a few) children displaying “intelligence beyond their years” and “uncanny knowledge” were imposters, traded out by Fae creatures for offspring of their own. Children believed to be “Changlings,” regretfully, often came to a bad end. A chilling reminder that the stories we tell impact our real lives.
So while Autism was at least somewhat recognized, it did not become its own official diagnosis until 1943.
Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes was first published in 1892. Now, as a writer who often draws from my personal reality, I imagine Doyle probably “wrote what he knew,” which is to say, acquainted with one or more Autistic people, he used them as inspiration.
On the other hand…
BBC’s Sherlock first aired in 2010. And while one might argue that the writers simply capitalized on the Autistic fan-theory, or took already available traits and exaggerated them for their version… they left a lot to be desired. Autism aside, this new Sherlock is…well…an asshole. Narcissistic, abusive and egocentric (to name a few) he sweeps his caustic behavior under the rug of “high functioning sociopath,” and blytly ignores the consequences.
Which is a major problem. Because while doing this, he’s still “obviously” (at least in the Hollywood sense) Autistic. In my previous post, where I said some characters are “too smart™, and logical© to ever have feelings, friends or empathy,” this is what I meant.
This is bad. We’re looping right back to Representation Matters. Bad representation, and the navigating of such, is just as important for writers to think about as good representation. Maybe even moreso. Because bad representation paints real people into cardboard, stereotyped people-shaped things. It otherizes. And it’s harmful. You would not believe the people I’ve met assume I’m not Autistic because I’m not an egotistical jerk. Why? Because they watched, you guessed it, BBC Sherlock.
Confession time:

Now here’s my little secret:
I love all of these characters. They are some of my favorite on tv. Why? Because for good or ill, I recognize myself in them. Finally, I can turn on the TV, and see myself. Or, somewhat, anyway.
My favorite character out of this list? Loath though I am to admit it… Is Sherlock. See, what those well meaning folks didn’t know (the ones who say I’m I’m “too nice,” to be Autistic) is… well, if we’re being honest, I wasn’t always nice. A few years ago, I was that guy. I was a jerk because I thought I was the smartest person in the room. Which is really not a good look. In fact, sitting down and watching the first season of sherlock, (around three or four years after it came out) made me realize how much of a jerk I actually was.
There are other things there too. Things that tie me to all these characters, that I didn’t list. But that’s for another today.
For now, I’d like to add a caveat or two:
1) I’ve watched all the shows listed above, and adore them. As I mentioned, Sherlock is my favorite. He’s also the one I’ve watched the most (Repeatedly, in fact. Whoops.) and I recognize it’s not all bad. In the end, he learned to treat people better (somewhat) and certainly became more human over time. And, there are other deeply problematic elements of the show I’d like to tackle, eventually.
*cough* Queerbating! *cough*
2) I’m well aware that the above cases are all thin, white, able bodied, “straight” males. But I chose these characters for a couple of reasons. One, they’re the most prominent type on TV. Again, we loop back around to representation, and why we need more positive, diverse examples of it.
And finally-
3) In my last post, I mentioned I’d give some “good” instances of Hollywood Autism trope. But I didn’t exactly do that. Partially, because half way through, I thought…perhaps…I’m not the best to judge what might be a good Autistic character. I mean, I’m sure someone will read this and think my current aforementioned characters are fine. Heck! They might even argue my perception here, and say the characters are just fine. I accept that. In my life, both on and off the page, I recognize that I cannot, should not (and don’t want to) speak for an entire community.
Because of this, I cannot tell you how to write a “good” Autistic character, or what media is “acceptable.” I can’t even really tell you what a bad character is. Sure, I have a lot of opinions about it. But- if you’re on the spectrum and like and identify with the above? That’s fine. I mean, even with all the problems I noted (and some I didn’t) I certainly do.
On the other hand, if you’re a writer, and you want to write a character from this (or any, for that matter) community you aren’t part of, I caution you.
Do your research. Preferably from multiple credible sources.
Talk to people on the spectrum about what it’s really like. (Though try to steer clear of asking for emotional labor. You could, say, hop on reddit and ask the community there, for instance, which is a no pressure way to obtain potentially decent info.)
Finally, whatever you do, remember this-
Autistic people can look like anyone. We can act, and think and be different, like anyone. We are real, living, breathing people. Not robots, not sob stories, not tropes. People. So if you write about us, write us like people. And your work will be all the better for it.
-Your Loving Vincent

i’m resorting to bribery
first person to draw me Mark Cotswolds x Trent Boyett gets a free drabble fic or meta analysis of anything they want
reasons I like this ship:
both boys have good reasons to hate the main cast, trent moreso than mark
butters backstabbed trent and bullied mark, so they’d both dislike butters a lot
bad boy fresh from prison x sheltered goody-two-shoes
mark tops trent, officially wrecking any machismo involved
mark is a more sensible kid with a certain level of intuitive street smarts and a lot more in book smarts. he really wants friends and to get along with people but he’s just naturally a bit suspicious of people
trent is jaded with betrayal, judged for his appearance over his actions and sent to prison for a crime he didnt commit, there is no justice
mark being trent’s lawyer in an aged up au? or working for an activist group to get falsely imprisoned individuals?
mark is super protective of his baby sister and i think it’d be cute if trent also got protective because he’s secretly always wanted a younger sibling. mark and trent make the protect rebecca squad
rebecca still freaks trent out a little because she is a lot extreme and a little crazy, but he loves his crazy smart adopted sis
mark just about melting inside when its proven that trent can totally be trusted to treat his sister with respect and kindness
mark is the brain, trent is the brawn
trent getting into modeling or construction work or BOTH after he gets out of prison. shows off his mad muscles on insta and gets those sponsorships lol
mark’s smart enough to respect trent’s space so post jail if trent is having issues, mark would actually research it and listen to him and give him space and affection as needed
trent having major trust issues and mark helping to alleviate them everyday just by being someone who it is safe to trust

CANON DIVERGENCES
in regards to the new novel that came out highlighting more of sun and his canonical history, i thought it would be prevalent for me to spell out a few things regarding my sun and where he lies in the fandom now. i’ve had sun for...a very long time. over four years, and i’ve put far too much time and effort into who he is to just wipe clean and start new. but, thankfully, by some grace of god, the information revealed about him tends to align with most of what i’d initially thought or him, aside from a few key points. which...i’ll discuss now...long winded much?
full disclosure, i haven’t read the book. i’ve just been going off snippets i’ve read and wiki pages, so bare with me if get a few things wrong.
first and foremost: my sun still has his mother. her name is miah wukong, her fc is fang from final fantasy, and she is the light of sun’s life. he loves her more than he thinks he could love anyone, but she is quite literally all he has in regards to family, and ties to his old life in vacuo. she is the only thing in his life that has been a constant, and even her sun had to leave behind.
in the book, i believe it’s mentioned that sun is an orphan, and moved around vacuo constantly to keep with the rains and to stay alive. i’m not sure on specifics why, but this is a hc i don’t mind adopting, aside from the orphan part. for a homeless, poor faunus boy, moving around with his mother and a tribe of vacuain faunus natives doesn’t change my sun’s narrative much, in fact enhances it a bit from his original hc. he was given a lot of responsibility from a young age to help protect their group from grimm, and learned to fight much like blake did; outside of a huntsman prep school, more on his feet and hands on experience. i used to just have him living in the streets and learning to fight that way, but this is just as fitting, if not moreso.
his mother encouraged him to move to vacuo once he managed to hone his hunting skills, and he applied for school in haven and was accepted on a full scholarship. that’s why he moved, to have a better shot and succeeding. until he moved in to the dorms at the academy, sun had never had a room or bed of his own.
i hear somewhere that the book alludes to sun being illiterate? which i’ve sort-of, kind-of hc’d from the beginning, but not to such a full extent. sun did not attend a formal school until he was nearly 13, and as a result, his book-smarts were severely behind those in his age group. he can’t read very well, and he is absolutely terrible at math. but he makes up for it in his street smarts, and his ability to formulate and execute plans. he survived this long in the desert for a reason, and a huntsman academy is the only place someone could get by with having a severely lower reading level than those of his peers. while he’s not completely illiterate, his reading level is at that of about a 4th grader. he is very self conscious of this.
it’s also mentioned, multiple times apparently, that sun is referenced as being a bad leader by both his teammates and team cfvy. and, quite frankly, i don’t really hc that. i do hc sun as being aloof and a guy who doesn’t always think things through, but when it comes to his friends and family (this includes his team), sun goes above and beyond to make sure they remain safe. i think, my sun’s biggest downfall, is the former. he so desperately wants to fight the good fight and take on the world for his friends, he often doesn’t consider that they too might want to go along and fight as well. which is a conundrum, considering he had a similar conversation with blake, but sun sees it as his duty rather than a burden he bares like blake. if he comes from a good heart, it can’t be wrong, right?
but as far as his leadership skills go, the biggest thing he needs to work on is his commitment. due to his nature growing up, and the constant moving from place to place, sun is indeed scared to put too many roots down at once, because history tells him he’ll just have to uproot again. he didn’t leave his team behind out of fear, but rather because he thought he was expected to go where he is most needed. go where you need to.
so yea, that’s the basics for now. i do plan to sit down and actually read the book at some point, but this is just the general basic idea of what’s going on with my sun moving forward.

🍐 - How intelligent is my muse overall? are they smarter than the average person, or less than? are they primarily self-taught, or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school? are they more street smart or book smart?
You'll never hear her call herself smart though Lune is certainly no fool. While not being able to tell when or for how long she's certain that she has had schooling for multiple years. She's knowledgeable on many topics but much of what she knows can be filed under booksmarts. A solid part of this can be blamed on her having little to no recollection of her youth though one might wonder if she just doesn't have any experience with certain commonday topics and events. Regardless of the cause she avoids voicing herself on topics she isn't confident with until prompted.
🍉 Which of the four seasons suits my muse best, and why?
Lune favors Spring without contest, from the gentle temperatures to the yearly rebirth of life, everything about it brings her a kind of joy that the other seasons could never even come close to. As someone who suffers from winter blues the shift it brings to her behaviour is really easy to notice as well. She'll be more easy to engage and generally has at least a small smile on her face as opposed to the usual distant gaze. Most befitting to Lune as a person would be Autumn. A chilly breeze pulling old leafs off of the trees, warm glory left to the past as frost looms ahead.
🍌 - Is my muse inclined to help others, or will they only do it when it benefits them, if at all? what makes them this way? has it ever gotten them into trouble, or inconvenienced them?
She'd want to, though, unless it's a task that could benefit from having a sharpshooter along, she's not the sort of person to actively approach people to help out of her own volition. The innate fear of doing more harm than good looms over her head pretty much at all times, causing her to hesitate even if it'd be rather obvious her assistance would be useful. Since coming to Rhodes Island she's been trying to step out of her comfort zone in this regard, so far with generally positive results. If asked for help she'll seldom refuse, going above and beyond to fulfill the expectations set upon her. It has no doubt gotten her into trouble one way or the other but she'll never tell the person she's helped and would probably do it again if it comes up.
🥝 - Does my muse have any ‘ unusual ’ habits, interests, and / or talents? do they hide it, or are they proud of it?
- Painting in and of itself is all but unusual yet Lune's approach to it very well might be. It's not so much that she cares for the creative aspect of it, moreso it's one of the few ways for her to get stuck memories and images out of her mind. It's something she spends a lot of free time on and over the years she has gotten pretty good at it. She doesn't tend to share much but she is at least a little proud of her works. - During missions she has the habit of comparing various events and orders to (sheet)music classifications and terms. She'll try to never do so out loud but might slip up now and then. Pointing it out to her when it happens is a quick way to have her fumbling as she desperately tries to change the topic.
🍋 - What kind of diet does my muse have? do they eat regularly, or the standard 2-3 meals a day? do they have to be reminded to eat, or are they likely to remind others? do they cook, or have others cook for them? do they eat healthily, or not so much?
If left to her own devices she sticks to a standard 3 meals a day to near religious degree. If possible at the exact same hours as well. She cooks pretty healthy with greenery included in all meals and in portions normal for her size and physique. That all being said she's not opposed to letting others cook for her, even if she'll probably reconfirm the person cooking really doesn't mind a few times over. Offering her something like a snack outside of her set food moments will be met with raised eyebrows though she'll probably accept.
🍍 - How comfortable is my muse in their body? how do they feel about their height, weight, strength, and body type? how important is being attractive to them?
Standing at 144cm(~4'8") without horns and being overall petite Lune is by no means an imposing figure. She's able to see the benefits of it though will now and then silently wish she'd been just a little taller(if only to make running and keeping up less of a struggle). She's very much in tune with her body, sharply aware of how much she can handle without overextending herself. With just a glance she'll have a solid guess on how and if she can overcome the physical obstacles she comes across. While she does put effort in her appearance it's more to appear healthy and fit than to catch any eyes. Most of the time she dresses pretty modestly both on and off duty. Even if she does dress up, appearing attractive is rarely even part of the reason.

Hell and Back- Chapter 14: Fast and Furious (Trial 20)
Word count: 1817
Chapter warnings: Mild language and Dangerous actions
[Please do not replicate any of the behaviors read in this book.]
-----
"Alright, so Lay's agreed to go next." Suho was talking to the group while Y/N and Chanyeol were in the bathroom. "We'll have Y/N do that next."
"Speaking of Y/N, we've all had one, or both turns. She hasn't done any yet." Kyungsoo said with a worried look on his face.
"Yeah, good point, she's skipping out." Kris accused. Shaking his head, the first man amended,
"I didn't mean it like that. Moreso that I'm a little nervous- the challenges keep getting worse, I don't want her stuck doing the worst challenges."
"She'll be fine," Baekhyun said, "Even if she doesn't have a power, the rest of us do."
"You all act like having a power makes you better than me." She said from behind them, causing all of them to spin around in surprise. She and Chanyeol had returned, evidently more quietly than they had expected, as they hadn't even noticed the two walk up.
"Chanyeol, your hair-" Sehun started to say, but Tao was more concerned with Y/N's comment.
"Y/N, no one thinks that. We're just concerned for your safety-"
"Yeah, because you think I'm less safe than you, because I don't have a power. It's not just about abilities, sometimes you have to rely on being smart. Or talented. Don't act like you're special just because you can burn things or pick up rocks with your mind."
"Hypothetically that would make us better." Kris muttered under his breath, earning him an elbow to the side from Lay.
"Ugh, whatever, let's just do the next challenge."
"But-" Suho started.
"Who's next?" She interrupted him, unwilling to talk about it anymore. She hadn't even given them a chance to ask Chanyeol about his hair- they'd probably figure it out.
"Um, me." Lay said, raising a hand slightly.
"What happened to having Luhan do it?"
"His telekinesis is the limited power, so we figured it's better if, you know... someone with..."
"Someone with powers did the challenge." She finished for him, still irritated. "Whatever, that's fine." She pressed his name, noting that it grayed out as soon as she did so. Now that she thought about it, Kai and Baekhyun's had been grayed out as well. Maybe the app knew when each person had taken their max number of turns. The trial loaded up, offering a new task for them to complete.
"Drive 100mph on the freeway," she read out, "With everyone in the car." Continuing, she looked at the italicized text. "You must drive one hundred miles per hour, at least, on a major road (e.g. a road with a speed limit 65 or above and at least two lanes) for at least 120 seconds. If your speed drops below one hundred, your time will reset."
"Shit." Lay breathed in. "That's pretty wild."
"What does it matter? You have a license, you know how to drive." Chen pointed out.
"Yeah, wait, didn't Jackie Chan teach you to drive?" Baekhyun laughed to himself, finding it hilarious.
"That's not what I'm worried about." Lay snapped. "I just don't want to get ticketed. We're not allowed to tell the police about the trials, or else we're disqualified. And I'm not really interested in finding out exactly what the catch 'failure' means."
"Most tickets are done by camera now, anyway." Xiumin reassured him.
"And we're in Kris's car, so he'll get the ticket."
"Oh hell no, I can't afford another ticket!" Kris groaned. "Go get your own car!"
"We're wasting time if we do that," Baekhyun pointed out in a fake-nice tone. "It's easier since we just have yours."
"We also can't all fit, though," Suho pointed out. "If we did happen to get stopped, we'd be in trouble, in more ways than one. Wouldn't getting arrested also breach the trial rules?"
"At this point, we might as well just risk it." Sehun said. "That's why they're trials, right? They're not gonna be easy. The faster we get through this, the faster we can move on. Plus, it's only two minutes. How hard could it be?"
Before they knew it, everyone was piled haphazardly into a continuously complaining Kris's car, Lay at the wheel adjusting the seat and the mirrors. Kris kept whining about this, but everyone basically ignored him. Everyone who was able buckled, sometimes two or three per belt. It wasn't exactly the most effective, but it was the best they could do. As Y/N moved to take a seat, she realized that it was basically full.
"You can have my seat." Kai muttered, moving to get out of the car.
"And where are you gonna sit, on top of me? You'll crush me." She hissed.
"Oh... right." Awkwardly moving the belt, he said, "Just sit on my lap, it's only for a few minutes." She looked past him into the other seats, but her options weren't exactly fantastic. She could sit on the floor, and break her neck if they crashed, and out of the boys in the middle seat, he was the biggest. Finally, she relented, wiggling her way into the car as he shut the door behind her. The belt was just long enough to buckle the both of them into the same seat, pressing her downwards and constricting her breathing slightly.
"Sorry." He mumbled again as Lay started up the car, pulling out to make his way towards the freeway. Breathing in deeply, Lay looked in the rearview mirror.
"Alright, I guess we're doing this. Who's gonna keep time on the drive?"
"I have it on the app." Y/N said. "I'll let you know when you're done." They drove down the street, boys whispering under their breath to each other. She briefly heard Kyungsoo once again trying to reassure Luhan about the trials. She was continually growing more and more worried about his adverse reactions to the trials. Of course, they weren't fun for any of them, but he seemed particularly unsettled.
Suho calmly directed him as they made their way onto the interstate. He obviously hadn't driven in a hot minute, as it wasn't really integral to their daily activities. Honestly, Kris mostly drove, just because he preferred it. Still, that wasn't the trial, so it wasn't an option. He directed the driver to the left lane, explaining the plan.
"It's the afternoon, so thankfully their direction shouldn't be backed up at all. Going out of the city will be crowded, but hopefully the trail will be done long before we turn around or end up on the other side of the city. Get up to 100 as fast as you can, there's no reason to sit at 80 or 90. Make sure you're safe above anything. We can have multiple shots at this."
"Of course you would say that." Kris mumbled.
"The road's clear, get started." Suho directed, leading Lay to slam his foot on the gas pedal. Lurching forward a bit, she tried to keep from looking out the window, simply staring at her screen and waiting for the timer to start. As soon as it did, she swallowed, notifying them,
"Count is going, maintain at least this speed." The seconds ticked by agonizingly slowly, Kai bringing his chin up over her shoulder to try and see the phone. As they continued at the rate they were driving, Sehun shouted something about the RPM meter that she was too stressed to comprehend. Watching the timer, they passed the thirty second mark, the car began vibrating slightly more violently than usual. As Kris had expensive taste, they weren't worried about the car being able to handle it, but generally if you don't run a car at those speeds consistently, it can be a little stiff. Even so, Kris seemed less concerned about the car breaking, and more concerned that Lay was the first one to be able to drive it so fast.
As they approached one minute, she was starting to calm down, almost forgetting what was going on. They were still progressing far slower than she could have ever imagined seconds to be, but they were progressing nonetheless. That was, until he slammed on the brakes. The car lurched forward, causing Y/N to hit her head on the back of the seat, kai quickly trying to maneuver to make sure she was okay. She watched as the time paused, then clicked back down to zero.
"What the hell, man?" Kyungsoo growled.
"I'm sorry! There's someone in front of me! I can't-"
"Start again." He demanded. "And this time don't stop. We don't have leeway to deal with this." As the car in front of Lay pulled into the right lane, (too little too late), he was given the room he needed to start again. The timer started again - Thirty seconds came first. The shaking was less severe this time, serving her hypothesis on the car's workings. They passed one minute. One twenty. When they were about to reach a minute and a half, Lay began to make stuttering noises once again.
"Uh, there's- two car's, I have to stop, I-"
"Don't stop." Kyungsoo demanded from the back seat.
"I don't have a choice! I can't rear end a-" Leaning over into the front, Baekhyun grabbed the wheel with one hand, jerking it to the left. The tires spilled over the edge onto the shoulder, crossing over the rumble strips and vibrating the entire vehicle. If not for Lay's quick adverse reaction, they would have smashed into the concrete wall. Missing the other car by mere inches to the right, they managed to pass, barely maintaining their hundred-mile speed.
"What the fuck?!" Lay screamed, the whole car unsettled by the occurrence, Y/N practically covering her eyes aside from glancing down at the timer.
"Two minutes!" She shouted suddenly. "That's two minutes! You can-" She hadn't even finished her sentence before Lay slammed on the brakes, pulling off into the shoulder, intentionally this time. As he pressed on the brakes once more, Kai anticipated her falling forward this time, grabbing her by the waist to make sure she didn't slide and hit her head. As soon as they had slowed to a stop, he put the vehicle in park, leaning back and breathing out heavily.
"What is wrong with you?!" He asked Baekhyun in a loud shout. "That was fucked up!"
"But we won!" He said with a smile, pointing at Y/N's phone.
"We could have died!"
"But we didn't!"
"But we could have."
"You could have healed us."
"Not if I were dead."
"Okay, then Tao could have reversed time."
"Not if he were DEAD-"
"Look, we're fine," Baekhyun held his hands up. "That's all that matters. Let's just keep moving and not think about this too much! Now you don't have any more personal challenges." Breathing in deeply, sweating slightly, Lay looked over.
"Kris, you're driving us home."

@evcrkill sent: 🍉 🍑 🍐 ! ------- headcanon meme / accepting !
🍉 : which of the four seasons suits my muse best, and why ?
winter !! a lot of comparisons can be made with giovanni and winter, the cold, desolate nature of it, the quiet, etc, but besides that----he just likes it. before he went all grumpy he always liked when snowflakes would fall and catch in his hair, likes being able to bundle up in soft sweaters, and moreso now, with all the layers he wears. easier to wear turtlenecks and scarves when its cold, yknow ?
🍑 : how meticulously does my muse look after their physical appearance ? do they spend a lot of time on their hair, makeup, grooming, and clothing ? is there a particular reason why they do or don’t ?
more meticulously than he will ever admit. he has a sense of style that he likes, he bothers to put together outfits and make himself look nice, makes sure to cover up all his scars, etc. he even takes awhile with his hair, just because its curly and he does bother to manage it and keep it nice looking and soft. makeup though is a no, not unless he needs to conceal a scar, or smth like that. why ? simply put; he’s vain, he cares a lot about how he looks, whether he’ll ever admit that or not. ( he won’t. )
🍐 : how intelligent is my muse overall ? are they smarter than the average person, or less than ? are they primarily self-taught, or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school ? are they more street smart or book smart ?
i’ll go ahead and say he’s pretty intelligent, but intelligence varies, so he’s only smarter than the average person in very specific fields. he’s only booksmart, and his interests for learning are very set in stone; he knows more than the average person about magic, curses, necromancy, religion, etc------just because its his whole life, what he’s been looking into for 300+ years. otherwise ? he’s smart in a lot of fields but he’s no genius----just has a lot of time on his hand for language studies and such, and knows a great deal of history because he’s lived through it. as for how he’s learned, its a mix of both; lots of self teaching, but he does enroll in lots of colleges under fake names when he’s particularly bored.
#𝐯. HEADCANONS. —— ❪ what are some of the ways you’ve died? ❫#thank u !!!#god i like talkin abt giovanni KFLJDGHKJFD
