Even more and more of obvious shit I point out because I want an excuse to rant while not interacting with actual people in real life who also like this show because I'm masking 😍💜💜
Tumblr media
BARELY STARTED AND BRO. YOU JUST LET HER DO THAT TO YOU, ME PERSONALLY-
Tumblr media
HE'S PETTING KEE-KEE I LOVE HIM SMM

Tumblr media
CHARLIE HATES OLD PEOPLE COMFIRMED YAY 😍😍💅💅
Tumblr media
Hot
That's it.
Tumblr media
IN SYNC. I LOVE THIS SONG AND THE ENTIRE SCENE. WHY IS IT RANKED SO LOW WITH SOME OF YALL?? Okay well-
I thought this song was gonna be a Charlie and Vaggie duet- tbh I still preferred that BUT I LOVE CARMILLA SO I KINDA DONT CARE.
BUT I WAS ROBBED OF AN ACTUAL FULL CHAGGIE DUET (REPRISE DOESNT COUNT) IF H*SKERDUST GETS A FULL ONE WHY CAN'T CHAGGIE? *SOB* uhh anyway-
Tumblr media
Is that. Like. How she thinks actually 😰
I know there's been a lot of the lack of Vaggie's self-worth, which I wish was explored into more. I just think the Vaggie(3rd) episode just wasn't needed at all if it didn't even have an impact. Don't get me started on that episode, it was rushed, too early to have character arcs already, and overall not needed or even should have existed periodt.
I hope they explore it next season because GOD this woman needs TO LOVE HERSELF. OR ATLEAST CARE ABOUT HERSELF LIKE????
Tumblr media
SWEET MAMA PLEASE. TAKE ME IN YOUR WINGS AAAAAAAAA
Charlie, sharing is caring <3
Tumblr media
Out of all the people I thought Charlie would vent to I didn't think it would be ROSIE. It's a nice surprise tho I love her <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bisexuality.

Tumblr media
HE'S DANCING. ALASTOR IS DANCING. THEY ARE SLAYING BESTIES. THE MAN IS DANCING. HELP.
Tumblr media
Season 2 is going to be Charlie in her villain era and Alastor's reputation era 😍
Tumblr media
I LOVE VAGGIE'S FACE. PRECIOUS BABY UGHH... THEN THE WINGS REPLACE THE BOW AND DROOP UGGHH I HOPE IN SEASON 2 WE SEE MORE OF HER WINGS. OR CUT HER HAIR SHORT SO WE CAN HAVE IT ALL THE TIME. Also so Husk and Vaggie can bond over both having wings. Sorry I love their potential friendship so much. AND LUCIFER AND VAGGIE TOO!! BOTH BEING FALLEN ANGELS OMG. UGH THE POTENTIAL OF VAGGIE'S RELATIONSHIPS WITH NOT JUST CHARLIE ARE SO GOOD AND I HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF SEEING HER AS AN ACTUALLY MORE FLESHED OUT CHARACTER. I AM SCREAMING AAAAAAAA.
Tumblr media
I can't say how much I love them. It's too much. I cant- yay the teaser image before the show came out <3 they are so fucking adorable. UGH SOME1 END ME
Tumblr media
Charlie loves the wings hehehe. Vaggie looks nervous about it. It's probably a reminder to her about when she used to be an exterminator. The healing from everything will take a long time but hopefully Charlie will be there for her the entire time. And vice versa
Tumblr media
Ayo- 😰
Tumblr media
CHARLIE. T H E PRECIOUS BABY.
Uh next one tomorrow cuz yeah 🤯

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to stop thinking about Hazbin Hotel since it came out. I just wanted to get this thought out there and share it with people to see if anyone else has been thinking about it or if it's just me.
So, we all know that Alastor has made a deal of his own, but we don't know with who. I know a lot of people theorize that it's Lilith, and I did too until I watched season 1 again, specifically episodes 7 & 8.
In episode 7, Alastor and Charlie finally make a deal. Alastor told Charlie that the exorcists can be killed, and return, she's going to owe him favors of his choosing in which she doesn't have to harm anybody. I was surprised he didn't want Charlie's soul, but considering she is the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer, Alastor probably didn't want to take the chance of incurring Lucifer's wrath in that way instead of the petty way he did in episode 5.
At first, I was thinking maybe he didn't want it because of a deal he made with Lilith where he couldn't harm Charlie and that's why he's invested in the hotel and in helping her, but then the lyric where he says "she's filled with potential that I could guide" suggests maybe he didn't want Charlie's soul because owning her soul wouldn't be helpful to him in accomplishing whatever he's plotting. Maybe he just really needs her and her power, and by owning her soul, he'd diminish her power. Kind of like with Husk.
Then, in episode 8, the finale song, Alastor has a line that goes "The constraints of my deal surely have a back door." That line in particular is what got me into analyzing Alastor and everything he's done so far. Him saying, or I guess singing, that could possibly mean he didn't make a deal with Charlie to hold it over Lilith. It means he still hasn't figured out a loophole to the deal he made, and I know a lot of people who are on board with the whole "Alastor and Lilith made a deal" theory think the reason he wanted to make a deal with Charlie was to use it to get off of Lilith's leash. But that line he sings could mean that he wanted Charlie to make a deal with him for another reason and that he still has a lot of work to do in discovering a way he could get out of his own.
After all, we are all well aware of the fact that all the songs serve a purpose in moving the story along. Not to mention that they're all freaking bangers. Which is why that lyric has started this whole "What if..." thing with Alastor and the leash Husk revealed he's on.
That being said, it's definitely not a coincidence that he and Lilith were both missing for 7 years, and the fact that Zestial said in episode 4 that there are rumors Alastor "fell into holy arms" suggests that Alastor might have indeed figured out a way to get to Heaven, and perhaps he did meet Lilith while he was there and struck a deal with her.
I'm open to either one of these theories, but I do think it would be kind of neat if I was right and that it turned out Alastor didn't make a deal with Lilith at all, instead it was with somebody else. Maybe someone we've already met, or maybe somebody we haven't.
But regardless of what happens, I love this show and I can't wait for season 2!
Please let me know what you guys think. This thought has been niggling my brain for a while and I just needed to get it out somewhere.
P.S.- A list of things I want to see in season 2 and beyond:
- CHARLIE AND VAGGIE CHARLIE AND VAGGIE CHARLIE AND VAGGIE CHARLIE AND VAGGIE CHARLIE AND VAGGIE CHARLIE AND VAGGIE
- As in kisses, cuddles, adorableness, (maybe even a sex scene considering they did an entire episode with Angel & his pornos), Vaggie carrying Charlie as they fly around Hell
- Not to mention an ENTIRE SONG sung by the two of them. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE THE SHIT out of the reprise of ''More Than Anything," but these two need a FULL fucking song together
- More of Carmilla and Vaggie bonding and being badasses together
- Angel and Husk becoming a thing
- Learn more about what Lilith and Alastor have been up to while they've both been gone for 7 years
- What Heaven is going to do now that Adam is dead and the Extermination failed
- Also is Heaven or Emily or Sera or ANYONE even gonna ADDRESS the fact that Vaggie was revealed to be a fallen exterminator angel in episode 6?!?! Like I'm sorry but Adam dropped that fucking bomb and the only reaction they showed was Charlie's and nobody even like asked what had happened or why Vaggie was cast out?!?! I'd really like to see something, ANYTHING, that acknowledges this very big reveal to Heaven actually fucking happened lmao.
- Lilith's reunion & explanation to Charlie and Lucifer
- More of our Short King being his nerdy, powerful self
- Lute & Vaggie being toxic exes and/or getting a duet together (a girl can dream lmaoooo)
- Sir Pentious and his adventures in Heaven
- Emily and what she comes up with to help Charlie because she is the true Angel up in Heaven
- Sera getting a fucking kick to the face (or multiple) for letting the Exterminations happen and for all the other hypocritical shit that's been going on
- Everyone's reactions when they find out Sir Pentious has been redeemed
- Niffty being Niffty
- Alastor's plans and what he wants Charlie to do for him because of the deal they made
- Angel & Husk getting out of their respective deals with Valentino and Alastor
- Valentino dying a slow, agonizing, shitty death for what he's done to Angel
- What Keekee being the key to the hotel really means
- More fucking bangers to add to my playlist :)
That's all I can think of for now. If I think of anything else I'll add it on :)

Hi....if you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from Hazbin Hotel? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks....
No worries!
Tumblr media
1. Angel Dust. No surprise. He's my type, and I love that he's self-destructive and selfish while paradoxically very caring for his loved ones. The same guy who worries more for his drugs than someone crushed under a boulder adores his pet and is desperate to protect Charlie from Val. His romance with Husk is also well-written, because all Angel thinks he has to offer is his body, but Husk isn't at all going to take advantage of that and meets Angel where he's at: two losers, baby.
Tumblr media
2. Lucifer. I think he's a well-written bumbling dad with a lot of love and a crippling sense of apathy brought on by guilt and the dissolution of his dreams that Charlie reawakens in him. I think he's essentially a disappointed idealist, but the story will show his resurrection into idealism via Charlie.
Tumblr media
3. Alastor. Our devil on Charlie's shoulder. But he also clearly has a heart, and while I see him getting worse before he gets better, I think the pilot is exceptionally clear that the endgame is his redemption as well. He doesn't want it, doesn't care about it, is merely interested in watching humans struggle... and in fulfilling whatever deal he has with Lilith. And against the odds, he does care about Charlie.
Tumblr media
4. Charlie. I love how inspired by Tangled's Rapunzel she is, and her idealism as both a coping mechanism and a potential weakness yet also being her greatest strength--there's so much potential in her arc. She's the only character who never had a chance to end up in heaven, because she was born in hell. Yet she's so full of love and idealism, while still being flawed and a bit naive (that deal with Alastor is so coming back to bite her), that she inspires people around her and the audience too. We see why people like her.
Tumblr media
5. Rosie. A minor character, yes, but she has a good impact on Charlie... And dearie, who among us hasn't thought of eating our first husbands?
As for moments, I don't really know. That's harder for me, but in no particular order:
Sir Pentious awakening in heaven as a silly snake and Emily's delighted face.
Lucifer showing up to fight Adam on Charlie's behalf and his malapropism bringing the entire battle to a temporary standstill.
The heaven court scene as a whole that climaxes in "You Didn't Know." Atonement theories for this theology nerd's delight!
I quite liked Carmilla challenging Vaggie before the final fight.
Niffty killing Adam; it was the perfect ending for his character this season.

CW: HAZBIN HOTEL SPOILERS AHEAD
Alright so here's my take on the new Hazbin Hotel season.
Bad. ):
The only good parts were vox/alastors song and the first half of Lucifer's episode. THE WHOLE SHOW IS SO FUCKING LAZY. They stripped everything that made it good. It's not funny anymore, it seems like there was no thought put into it, the placement of the music doesn't make sense a LOT. Sometimes they throw in little throwback jokes to be like "hey remember the pilot? Remember when this show was good?"
And it's so FAST, like the whole thing with the extermination timeframe being cut in half felt like such a lazy cop out. To me in read like they don't think they are gonna get another season and so they knew they only had 6 episodes to shove in all those plot points. Or they just wanted instant gratification for everything and felt like because this show has such a big fan base already they just assumed they didn't NEED to introduce you to these characters, like you should already know they are and have a connection with them. Like Hazbin Hotel thinks because it has a popular pilot it's a legacy show like the Simpsons and doesn't need to introduce anything, you should know it all by now.
And goes by so quick but despite how much time we are supposed to see go by, these characters NEVER FUCKING GROW. They're supposed to! They have groundbreaking realizations about who they are and stuff, and then a second later they are THE SAME PERSON AS BEFORE. And then there is that whole scene in the final episode where Charlie is like "look! Angel Dust has redeemed so much!" But I really feel like he hasn't, and we haven't seen any redemption from him at all. Plus there was this whole song about the similarities between Husk and Angel (Loser, Baby), which don't get me wrong, I loved, but it just really revealed how much of fucking clones they are, which is SO FUCKING LAZY.
Plus all of the "big reveals to keep you hooked and shock you!!!" We're just things that people have theorized about for 8 fucking years since the first concept art was released. Like the whole "vaggie is an exterminator!" or "Husk was a Overlord!" The whole time I got the impression that this was supposed to be a big thing but I was just like... Yeah.... I know.
Oh and Zestiel was also dope as fuck in his 2 minutes for screen time, but I feel like I only liked him because he was acting like what Alastor was SUPPOSED to be, but they made him really nice I feel like. And I understand that Alastor is canonically supposed to be a nice, gentlemanly Mama's boy, but I feel like this show felt like since all of the leaks and lore and stuff released about these characters, it had to show that IMMEDIATELY so instead of that being a slow build up and reveal it dumped it on you instead of showing you who Alastor depicts himself as and it felt like a mockery to the depths of his character. The show didn't earn being able to show how kind Alastor is.
And I feel like that's the reason that I think the show is so lazy because, yes, it has all these big cool reveals and moments, but the show doesn't earn any of those moments. Like there are so many big reveals, like Charlie's big song about her daddy issues, that I feel like could have hit so hard! If we had mentioned her daddy issues more than 2 times beforehand. Or with the whole Carmilla (I might be spelling that wrong) thing with the angel. The angels death could have been such a big story and plot hook and even if they didn't wanna carry it into the next season, they could have made the reveal and big season finale thing. It just felt so weird that instead of it being something big, it was just this lady who we don't even really know, who walked into screen, sang about how she did it, and then we never see her again. Cause I mean like, say what you will about shows with lost of filler early on, but at least they build on everything. You get to know these characters and this setting so that when there are big reveals and songs and moments with them you really feel it. Instead in hazbin all of the moments just feel so unearned and underbaked.
Plus instead of just embracing the fact that there are new voices, they had all the new voices basically do impressions of the old voices, like Blake Roman was basically doing a poor impression of Micheal Kovach the whole time and it brought him down so much. Like, I like Blake Roman, he's a good voice actor, we didn't have to pretend he's Micheal Kovach.
Really, honestly, I was thinking about it today, and Hazbin Hotel is a show about a bunch of dead people realizing that the heaven and hell system is messed up and trying to fix it and redeem themselves in the process. Y'know what else is a show with the same concept? THE GOOD PLACE. One of my favorite shows, very beautifully written, and every single point and moment Hazbin Hotel makes, The Good Place does 30x better.
so yeah, there's my Hazbin Hotel rant. Did not like the show, really pissed off about it, I'm gonna go rewatch the pilot, and then probably rewatch The Good Place.

Sharing my thoughts on the last 2 episodes of Hazbin Hotel season 1
Charlie's going through a hard time after failing to convince the people in heaven about demons getting redeemed and the exorcists going after her hotel. I can't blame her at all for expressing how upset she is that Vaggie didn't tell her that she's an angel.
Charlie sealing the deal with Alastor got me apprehensive. Hell, even Razzle and Dazzle were against it, judging by their facial expressions, but Alastor didn't want her soul. Instead, he gave her some information which is about Carmilla successfully killing an exorcist.
Carmilla is a no-nonsense mentor to Vaggie, though I find it frustrating that the latter was too dense to realize that the weapon she's wielding is one of the things that can defeat the exorcists. Speaking of Carmilla, we got to see the flashback on how she successfully killed one. It's a rare item called the angelic steel that was implanted in her ballet shoes.
The Latin-EDM number about fighting for love was a fucking bop and Vaggie getting her wings back got me clapping delightfully for her.
One hilarious moment was when Charlie yelled at Susan, "FUCK YOU, YOU OLD BITCH!!!" which was an absolute mood for everyone who has dealt with hecklers, trolls, Karens, and Kevins in their lives.
Rosie is such an endearing and loving character who is empathetic and understanding. Charlie vented to her about who Vaggie is and Rosie deduced that everyone has a past that they're not proud of and they rather not reveal it due to fear of rejection. She reassured her that Vaggie loves her regardless of who she is since the hotel is all about redemption. As Rosie said, "Words are cheap but actions speak the truth".
Eventually, Charlie got to convince everyone in Cannibal Town to fight against the exorcists through the song, "Ready For This". She and Vaggie got to talk things through and the characters in the hotel stayed to help defend it by fortifying it in preparation for the battle.
If I may add, Sir Pentious petting Keekee was a really cute scene to watch.
The season 1 finale was an epic rollercoaster. It was great to finally see the first on-screen kiss between Charlie and Vaggie after singing the reprise of "More Than Anything".
The fight between Vaggie and Lute got me on the edge of my seat. After Lute stabbed Vaggie's right hand, Vaggie got the upper hand by crushing Lute under some rubble. Instead of killing her, she spared her life, proving that Vaggie is a better person and isn't going out of her way to kill someone. Being crushed under some rubble caused Lute to rip out her left arm which was painful to watch but it's honestly her well-deserved karma for slashing Vaggie's eye out (and for killing Dazzle).
Seeing Angel Dust caring about others, like the scene where he's protective of one of the Egg Boiz, was wholesome to watch. I loved how much he has progressed throughout the season.
Alastor is one badass deer boy who faced off against Adam. He's got the moves and sass, but due to his microphone not being an angelic weapon, he was defeated by Adam.
Sir Pentious finally confessed his feelings for Cherri Bomb as they shared a kiss and made the sacrifice to protect his friends and the hotel. As he and the Egg Boiz are about to shoot the laser at Adam, Adam killed them with just a large bolt of holy light.
This caused Charlie to unleash her demon form and go one-on-one with Adam. Seeing Adam acting all arrogant, pretentious, conceited, and misogynistic got me pissed off but I cheered when Charlie stabbed him with a trident. Though Adam still got the upper hand until Lucifer arrived and delivered a powerful blow on his face. It was revealed that Adam had a face and was actually wearing a mask.
Lucifer shapeshifting and roasting the shit out of Adam and his incompatibility with Lilith and Eve shows how much of a goofy goober he really is. During their faceoff, Adam fired a huge beam that completely destroyed the hotel. He was about to deliver one final strike, but Charlie and Lucifer countered it and threw him hard onto the ground.
Lucifer punched Adam many times until Charlie told him to spare him. Adam gets back up and rants angrily to the characters, showing off his pride and god complex once more. All of a sudden, he got stabbed in the back by none other than Niffty. Charlie told her earlier to kill an angel when she sees one and Niffty did her assignment excellently. She stabbed Adam many times which was hilarious to see and Valentino's shocked expression makes him realize how lucky he is that he dodged a bullet in the nightclub. Because Adam is dead, the extermination has been cancelled, as reported by Katie Killjoy.
I was worried that the destruction of the hotel caused Keekee and Fat Nuggets to die, but I was so relieved that they're both alright.
Lute and the surviving exorcists retreat back to heaven and Charlie and the gang helped each other rebuild the hotel while singing the reprise of "Happy Day In Hell". They also have a portrait of Sir Pentious and a statue of Dazzle in commemoration of their heroic sacrifice. I give no fucks about the Vees celebrating since they're only there to watch the whole shit go down. Alastor went through anxiety and frustration and expressed his desperation to find a way to get out of the deal and I find it bizarre that he went back to the hotel to see the residents. Lucifer and Husk are suspicious of him, judging by their facial expressions.
Unbeknownst to Charlie and the gang, Sir Pentious got transported into heaven as a winner angel, leaving Emily thrilled and Sera shocked to see him. They saw proof that a sinner can be redeemed, though the Egg Boiz were nowhere to be found.
The finale ended with a cliffhanger. Someone is relaxing on a beach until Lute appeared with Adam's halo and said the deal is over. She told her if she wants to stay in heaven, she needs to confront Charlie. That someone is revealed to be Lilith, Charlie's mother.
I don't know if she will be the main antagonist of season 2, but I have my eye on Lilith as she's one mysterious character who disappeared for 7 years which is the same amount of time Alastor disappeared. Lute and the Vees are also contenders for being the main antagonists of the next season. Viv said that "season 2 focuses on a very fun villain and it's a villain that we meet in season 1", but we'll have to wait and see who it's going to be.
I had a lot of fun watching the last 2 episodes. It was totally worth the wait after watching the pilot episode back in September 2022. I do understand that there's criticism on how fast the pacing of the show is due to only having 8 episodes in season 1. I also understand that it would've been better if it has 20 episodes as it would give more time for character development and exploration of what the pride ring has to offer.
Personally, I was bummed that Angel Dust isn't the one going to heaven. I want to see him break free from Valentino once and for all and reunite with Molly up in heaven. If Niffty successfully killed Adam, I want her to kill Valentino and add him to her collection. Maybe that could happen in season 2, but who knows. Anything can happen.

my brain is a mush of incoherent screaming but that was fun
Carmilla's hot, "Out For Love" is going to be a favorite song this season and I am going to watch the video slightly disrespectfully
Husk wasn't too centric but he fought good I love my kitty. I still make the most stupid of noises when he just exists on screen. It's a disease.
"Niffty, if you see an angel, stab it. no not him"
Charlie and Vaggie's duet was so sweet, I was kinda ready for Vaggie to go tonight but I'm so glad it wasn't her, I need more Chaggie in my life. Let the WLW live together happily please
eat shit Adam
Alastor's fight with Adam was great, and that scene at the end... I totally understand why you guys love your scary deer man
PENTIOUS! Oh god, when his airship was destroyed I nearly panicked. I just- that was abrupt- you're gonna kill him off like that? I have a friend who would have been gutted! But he went to heaven! Sir Pentious is a good boy! And I want more interactions with him and Cherri. I love you, you big snakey doofus <3
"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU BITCH"
Aaa... I'm gonna miss this. Don't rush season 2, but don't let it be too far away... I feel like I just got started, and now it's gone already... six month Matsu seasons spoiled me

Hazbin Hotel 7-8 (Spoil McNoil)
Hazbin Hotel is indeed not an action show.
But at least they tried to have some action.
Should they have tried tho?
Tumblr media
(I'm gonna start out ripping, but, I don't hate this show, it's actually pretty funny that does some things super well but then just bumble fucks other big moments)
I mean, here's the thing, they're great at street fights, apparently. Vaggie vs Lute was pretty brutal, I felt like I was watching two bird tear eachother apart. Like a scene out of Gardians of Ga'Hoole.
But the ninja anime fantasy, martial arts type stuff was pretty weak, and didn't really track as something the characters would utilize. Like, Alastor is a cannibalistic voodoo serial killer from 1930's New Orleans. And twice before we've seen Alastor grow and contort to intimidate, kill, etc. But he doesn't do any of that against Adam except for that one aesthetic moment. Instead it's got generic "Tentril powers, GO!" vibes. Husker and Charlie also have this problem. Why is an American Gambler using cards like ninja stars? He can fly dude-- or, can he?
Can Husker fly?
And Charlie- like, she has a sheild, but she can only really use it to protect herself :/ Like, girl, just go inside.
Lucy beating the shit out of Adam was cut so short, Like, 2 secs and 4 punches b4 Charlie goes "DAD STOP ITS TOO MUCH"-- no, let Lucy COOK; I think it would have actually been an interesting point to make on how the reason Lucifer gives for discouraging the Hotel is sinner's being "The Worst", yet here he is clearly having a fit of violence (an understandable one but, Charlie, who's never even been to heaven except for a bs court hearing, has to remind a high-ranking angel to have mercy.) Charlie, razz and Dazz transforming didn't really do anything-- it actually felt more like a game of thrones reference, which would be fine if Razz or Dazz DID anything except die. They also didn't explain Carmilla's motive for helping them well. Like, neat entrance, but the build ups to the pay offs didn't exist :,O
And the voice acting: These guys are great singers, but the noises they make when they get hit, their mid-battle dialogue, is so corny and tonally off for certain characters. Like, Alastor and Charlie's yells in particular are- pardon my accent but cringe af.
Charlie in particular has so many anti-climatic moments. If they meant for her to not be particularly good at fighting, maybe establish that and not have all these super dramatic badass magical girl moments that just lead to her getting dunked on. It was so anticlimactic jeezuz christ.
And really it's more about picking a tone, the anti climactic moments could have been funny if they framed it as a funny moment or a joke, but it's framed seriously so it's read seriously.
But, who doesn't bumble fuck around how to end something though. I've read some juicy, golden touch stories that really freaked out on the gas and steering at the end. So, this isn't anything uncommon, especially for relatively new creators.
They have flaws, who doesn't. I loved so much about this show even when my first impression going in was just cringing at it not being what I expected. This is a critique of love, guys, I genuine wish the best for this show, bc it's apparent that when Viv has the freedom and breathing room she needs to plan and pace, she can cook up a good ass goddamned meal (See: Helluva Boss, Season one). This was them crunching and smushing a ton of story and moments into too-few episodes, which, looking back could have been done better, but its easy to see how something can be better once it's done and out in the world. (See: literally any amature artist 2 seconds after posting their work)
The season finale ended with so many good set ups tho! :D
Lilith vacaying in heaven, having made a deal with Adam.
Tumblr media
Alastor becoming desperate for a way out, having made deals with Vaggie and Charlie-- And far more explicitly there against his will. Also--is a future antagonist?
Tumblr media
Yes PLEASE. I love that they showed Al loosing his shit through his eyes even with the smile he's always wearing. And they built this up before hand having him talk previously about wearing a smile, basically as a mask.
PENTIOUS
YOU REDEEMED FU-
Tumblr media
(I was actually cringing at Pentious the entire time inep 8, I'm sorry but he's so hard to take seriously-- even his "death" was funny as hell. I love him but its like how someone loves a clumsy puppy that destroys your house without neither malice nor remorse)
Also: The exorcists switching leaders- I am wondering how things are gonna change with them, especially given how much more sadistic and violent Lute is. Like, Adam just liked laughing at sinners. He saw them as insults to his existance, his mini-me hates and seems like she just enjoys violence and malice, using ego and "they deserve it" narratives as an excuse to indulge in acts that ordinarily would lan someone in hell.
Overall-- Not the best season finale I've ever seen, execution-wise through these 8 episodes (like, Vaggie got her wings learning to fight for love, but she's been doing nothing but supporting and protecting Charlie this whole time. There was no hint that she was bitter or wanted revenge). They definitely needed to pace and build things better but there's so much to love. Like, Seeing Alastor in his element with Rosie and Nifty was so fun, even if they were small moments (his laugh is so stiff tho, c'mon Al.)
The finale did a good job setting up the future, but I don't have much more to say than that. Hopefully, now that they know they're getting a second season, they'll just, breathe on this one a bit more ya?
I'm glad I watched it, I cried, I laughed, I cringed, I yelled at Pentious for subjecting me to second hand embarrassment. It's great :,D
Also- I hope he doesn't read this and takes it the wrong way, but Vox reminds me of my brother-- Especially with the scenes where he's watching the battle :,D

my predictions for hazbin season finale
(keep in mind that this is all just speculation and analysis, so i can be totally wrong in the end lol)
starting with the scenes in the order of the trailer, this is when chaggie have already reconciled, so it's probably the end of ep 7 or the first part of ep 8
and all the windows and doors are nailed down, so they are probably preparing for extermination
i really think this scene will be the end of a song, because it looks a lot like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in this scene we have the characters ready to fight, and everyone seems to have a piece of the exorcists' weapon. alastor must have finally said that it is possible to kill an exorcist
these people in the background could be people who heard charlie's announcement or just the cannibals from cannibal town (i talk more about this below)
and most likely it's cherri on the left too!!
now angel has a new outfit, but it's all ripped (he looks like he's wearing a cropped lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and he's wearing the same hat as in the prequel! so i think he will have more development too (or at least more backstory)
Tumblr media
now going back to the ripped clothes, i can think of three options:
he had his clothes ripped in battle
valentino
(what i most want to happen please please) angel will have a moment similar to fizz
Tumblr media
in the next scene charlie is with alastor's mic, probably to make an announcement in the cannibal town (this scene in the future shows that it is the same scenario and alastor is singing with charlie (and rosie!!)) so this would be after alastor reveals that he knows exorcists can be killed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in this scene, many were thinking (including me) that this scene would take place at a time when angel had a relapse or when she discovered the complete truth about valentino, but seeing it now i think that would be unlikely because we only have 2 more episodes and we need to talk about how carmilla killed an exorcist; vaggie is an exorcist; tell this to the rest of the cast; the extermination
i watched this at minimum speed and there is a frame where she is smiling before crying, so my guess is that this was right after they came back from heaven
charlie is happy and proud of them but remembers everything that happened in heaven and breaks down in tears, without any hope
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the next scene is vox, i think he is safe as he watches the hotel on the day of the extermination
Tumblr media
this scene can be either a battle scene or a training scene
Tumblr media
by the way, i want so much this verse to be a foreshadowing. may vaggie have her revenge
Tumblr media
the next scene is this, chaggie painting a wall
this could be either the present where they have already reconciled or the past (i really would prefer this because i want more flashbacks) where they are cleaning up the hotel for the first time
but anyway, this scene is definitely them cleaning up the hotel, we just don't know if it's the first or second time
and if it is the second time, this opens up questions, because in the series it was alastor who repaired the hotel
Tumblr media
and speaking of the devil, here he is. he is defending the hotel once again probably on the day of the extermination
Tumblr media
and now we have adam ready to punch someone!
i don't think lute or adam are going to die, actually i can't even say if it's because i genuinely don't think so or because i just don't want them to die lol
they were cool antagonists, and i feel like they still have potential, maybe they would fall or come back even stronger in the second season
Tumblr media
so about adam, i honestly don't know if we're going to have an epic battle with adam with the other exorcists. like, i hope we do! but adam seems to be too cowardly to fight a fight that he knows he could risk dying, that's why he didn't want to go down to hell when one of the exorcists was killed for the first time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but i hope we at least have a fight with some unnamed exorcists!!
ok, so i think that covers everything, i think i'm done
...
oh...
OH.
so viv dropped this bomb on Q&A (it's on her channel!) and now i'm going to make my speculations about who might not die (considering it will be a permanent death)
charlie - the protagonist
vaggie - the protagonist's girlfriend, they just had a fight and made up, i don't think what this death will contribute to the plot
angel and husk - it's been confirmed that they are slow burn, so yeah, they can't be a couple if one is dead
niffty and sir pentious - they are the funny characters, they are good to break the ice when some scenes are too heavy. once again i don't think what this death will contribute to the plot
alastor - he is one of the biggest antagonists, he still has so much potential and mystery to be solved
cherri - she still has so much to work on herself, it wouldn't make sense to kill her without any development
lucifer - while i think he might die in later seasons, i don't think it makes sense for him to die now, he's barely reconnected with his daughter again, and is it time for him to die?there are still things to be explored, like his circus and his wife for example
the Vs - it doesn't make sense for them to die now if they were barely introduced, there are still more things that can be explored
carmilla - although i can see it happening, i really hope not, it seems too soon to me. again, she still has a lot of things that can be explored, like her backstory or how she killed the exorcist
now it's time for my speculation about who will die: one of charlie's pets
looking at the cards, we have one of razzle and dazzle as giants, most likely defending the hotel, perhaps one or both of them will be seriously injured
Tumblr media
but my bet is on keekee
Tumblr media
keekee is the hotel key, and some of the cards shows what will happen to the hotel, it will be destroyed
Tumblr media
(unless this destruction is when the guys who were after mimzy attacked)
and apparently the hotel is going to have a big renovation too??
Tumblr media
by the way while i was looking for the cards i saw that charlie's pitchfork hadn't been shown yet, so maybe it can make an appearance in the season finale??

Hazbin saved it there at the end
I literally need to write about this now or else I'm gonna spontaneously combust
Premiere Review
Okay first of all to get it out of the way, I really have nothing to say about ep 7 other than: it was a bit underwhelming for being the second to last episode of the season, Rosie was an absolute gem and her friendship with Alastor was really nice and Carmilla Carmine's song was a banger.
Now to what this post is actually about: the finale
I'm gonna be real and say I was so so so so worried about how they were gonna handle the ending. S1 was rough, you can definitely tell that the creative team didn't know they were getting a second season until halfway through production of this one. My guess is that they didn't get conformation until after they started ep 6 because my goodness was ep 6 rushed as fuck.
But they actually handled the ending pretty well. The whole fight against the angels was also a bit rushed, literally so much happened and there wasn't enough time to process a lot of it. But I think what saved the finale was the decision to destroy the hotel and basically reset the plot.
I'm a musical theater enthusiast, I'm gonna gush about the finale song for a bit because holy shit am I obsessed.
This song is absolutely wonderful. Charlie is obviously devastated with the deaths of sinners and angels, of Sir Pentious and with the destruction of the hotel. She clearly feels like a failure, but having Lucifer and the rest of the cast sing to the melody of Happy Day in Hell, the first song of the series, was truly heartwarming. She now has a crowd of friends and family who believe in her and support her. She sang Happy Day in Hell by herself (not counting the ensemble obv), she was the only one who believed in her cause (and Vaggie too but she was barely in the song). She was the only one who believed in the hotel, but now, there's this whole crowd of people rallying behind her, singing her song.
Vox and Val's part in the song was fun too! Not entirely sure why they were necessary to include in the song, especially since what they're singing about doesn't really make sense. The exorcists only attack the hotel and not the rest of hell so its not like any other overlords suffered any losses. Not to mention Vox sang "Alastor's missing" and then Alastor rejoined the group like 2 minutes later lmfao. But you know what I don't mind it too much cause they're always fun to watch. Sometimes a family is the 3 worst people you know being silly goofy coded together.
Now ALASTOR'S part was very interesting. He starts his solo with this weaker trembling voice, still frightened that he almost died and that he almost died for people he now calls his friends. We've seen Alastor happy and confident, we've seen him pissed and angry, but we've never seen him frightened. The animation for this scene is particularly amazing because we've never seen Alastor look frightened and desperate, and his eyes were filled to the BRIM with fear. It's truly a sight. I'm genuienley curious to see what direction they take Alastor in, because based on his actions of the last 2 eps, he really does care about Charlie and the hotel.
Since Lucifer and Cherri were singing with the rest of the main cast at the very end I really hope that means that they're gonna be a part of the supporting cast going forward. Lucifer being more involved would be really fun for Alastor to bounce off of. Cherri would be a fun addition for Angel to interact with more to see more of the contrast between her and Husk's influence on Angel.
Now that Sir Pentious is living proof that sinners can be redeemed,(good for him) the second season can actually focus on Charlie's mission to redeem sinners if they stay FOCUSED. A big issue with s1 is that it was really unfocused and the hotel was barely part of the plot because the writers were so focused on the heaven vs hell plot. But now that they built a bigger flashier hotel and have proof (or will soon have proof cause they still don't know Pentious is okay), now s2 has a good setup to actually be about the hotel.
S1 really felt like a s2 for a show that doesn't really exist. A good first season takes the time to really establish the characters and the conflict/stakes. The writers wanted to included way too much information that we didn't really need in a first season, and I know some of yall are like "oh they only had 8 eps if only they had more time" but honestly I don't know how much that can excuse.
Hazbin is a character driven show, the entertainment and the engagement comes from seeing these characters interact with one another in different scenarios. We got almost none of that because the writers were too focused on shoving as much information as they possibly could into 8 twenty minute episodes. I PROMISE YOU we would have enjoyed Hazbin s1 if they didn't include all this heaven vs hell stuff yet and we just got to know the characters just as much. Hazbin has been anticipated for almost 5 years now, people would have tuned in regardless. (And this is true cause ep 1 is one of the weaker eps yet Hazbin had the most successful premiere in Prime Video history. Hazbin would have been successful regardless)
If the writers actually focused on introducing the characters and have them interact with one another, than Hazbin s1 would have flowed so much smoother, then in a s2 they could get more into the plot heavy stuff (kinda like what ToH did). I know that they weren't greenlit for a second season until after they started production of s1, but even so its so bizarre to me how the writers chose to focus on random side characters and plot that didn't contribute to the main story: Charlie and the hotel. So now that everything has been more or less reset, the writers have given themselves a new opportunity to deliver something PHENOMENAL. They just need to STAY FOCUSED.
I've been listening to the finale song on repeat all day. Its truly an uplifting song and a great note to end on. I have faith the writers can get it together and give us an show stopping s2. I can't wait!

Ranking s1 Hazbin songs
16. Welcome to Heaven - The most bland, basic bubblegum pop. A huge disappointment to Heaven’s intro. I was more or so expecting a song that’s more orchestral and choir-y with sinister undertones. This song is a huge let down.
15. Whatever it Takes- The more I hear it, the more I hate it. Carmilla’s voice is just not doing it here and clashes with Vaggie’s voice rather than meshing. Even musically wise it’s not very good.
14. It Starts With Sorry- The actual music is great and Sir Pentious is amazing. It is LEAGUES ahead of Welcome to Heaven, but it’s too cheesy and.. goofy instead of emotional
13. Out for Love- Carmilla’s voice actress is a great singer, but she’s just not doing it for me 2 out of 3 times :(. Musically wise, it’s great. An absolute bop. But the singing isn’t.. my favorite. And don’t even get me started on the lyrics. It pisses me off that this song is implying that Vaggie has always only been out for vengeance but never truly out for love, despite the fact that that’s her whole thing. Her entire relationship with Charlie is about fighting for love.
12. The Show Must Go On- It’s sweet to see everyone supporting Charlie and all, but.. eh. The only reason it’s not lower is because of the Vs and Alastor absolutely KILLING their parts.
11. More Than Anything (Reprise)- Their vocals were phenomenal. They hit those high notes. But it’s too short.
10. Ready for this- It’s giving revolution, which I love. We’re getting to the really good stuff, so don’t take this being low as it being bad. There’s just some really good shit in this soundtrack. I love Alastor and Rosie’s part and them being so proud of Charlie.
9. Happy Day In Hell- Charlie’s voice actress was clearly having the time of her life. It’s so fun and broadway.
8. You Didn’t Know- It starts off eh, but once Lute gets her hardcore solo, things went up. Charlie and Emily singing together was just.. chef’s kiss.
7. More Than Anything- If we were going off of pure vocals and how good the scene was, this would be too 3, easily. But this is based off my own musical preferences. So while the song is definitely S tier, it’s not something I really listen to just to listen to it. But just because it’s at 7th doesn’t mean it’s mid. Farrrrr from it.
6. Poison- I really wish I could put this one higher. But it really goes to show how great this soundtrack is! Poison slaps. There’s not much to say about this song that so many people could articulate better than I ever could.
5. Respectless- Carmilla killed this. The classic and more traditional Spanish guitar contrasted with Velvette’s poppy and newer techno music really shows not only their personalities, but also a more difference in generations and what’s new. It gives huge Six vibes as well.
4. Hell Is Forever- I’ve listened to this song more than I’m willing to admit. It’s so good and the guitar solo genuinely slaps. Adam is such a little douche, but he’s a fun douche.
3. Stayed Gone- Who let Vox cook?! The beat is so fun and the beginning and end paralleling each other makes me go feral. Vox is such a boy loser, I want to squish his brains out.
2. Loser, Baby- Husk’s voice is so smooth and sultry, I really hope he gets to sing jazz in season 2. But he’s so sweet in this song and the song has such a sweet message in it. The part where he and Angel start singing about an undesirable thing they’ve done “I’ve got no more holes left to deflower.” “I sold my soul to save my power.”, is SO FUCKING GOOD.
Hell’s Greatest Dad- I’ve lost count on how many times I have listened to this damn song. It is so catchy and has one of, if not the best beat out of all the songs in this soundtrack. Lucifer being the only person who can get under Alastor’s skin is hilarious, I just know Vox is fuming. It just sucks that Mimzy ruined it. But this song is so good that despite that, it still manages to be my number 1.

I’m 8 episodes into Hazbin Hotel
That is to say I finished season 1
It’s good.
From a top-down perspective, I always love to see animated series aimed at adults that aren’t just another clone of The Simpsons or Rick and Morty. This obviously isn’t the first (not by a long shot) but it’s definitely one of the first I’ve seen pick up this much traction with the casual viewing audience.
As I mentioned in my original post, there are a lot of really good changes from the pilot that help realize this concept in a way that feels like a better execution of the core concept.
The concept itself is nothing particularly new, but it will always be interesting to me from a philosophical perspective. The specific blend of The Good Place season 4 and This is The End that Hazbin Hotel employs is fun and interesting, and set up some good questions for season 2 (assuming we get one). I appreciate that the show never gives the characters a checklist of things they must do to prove they’ve become better people, and when someone attempts to make such a list, it’s a joke.
I love and appreciate the musical numbers,
even if the cramped pacing didn’t allow a lot of them to have the impact they should’ve had. In a perfect world, each song would’ve been the culmination of a single episode and there would have been enough room for some slice of life shenanigans. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry is a toxic wasteland, inhospitable to creative and original ideas, so the crew was told to cram all their ideas into 8 episodes. Not to say A24 and Amazon are solely to blame. If a writer is given 200 minutes to tell a story and chooses to still write 500 minutes of content for it, that’s on the writer, but there’s a push and pull there. From this point on, anytime I mention a character or idea being underdeveloped, it comes with the caveat that I know the creators were under time constraints they chose to partially ignore for the sake of their story and worldbuilding.
I will also say that both songs in episode 7 (out for love and ready for anything) didn’t sit right with me. The call-and-response with a chorus of cannibals is fun, but felt poorly set up, and the song about fighting well for the sake of love felt unearned because Vaggy was already doing what she was doing for love and Carmilla is a woefully underdeveloped character.
Lucifer and Alastair’s rivalry is well communicated visually, but the song lurches into motion from a standstill, which gave me musical whiplash, not unlike Poison, which also suffered from “we didn’t know how to organically lead into this so we’re just suddenly in a music video” syndrome. Both these songs - and in fact most songs in the series, especially Respectless - do a fantastic job of communicating a lot of information in a short amount of time without feeling bloated. Poison is a very dramatic look into Angel Dust, a focal character who previously lacked focus and sadly didn’t get the attention he deserved after the trial scene. Hell’s Greatest Dad plays up all three characters’ insecurities and motivations in both subtle and bombastic style that I love. I just wish Mimzy’s bit wasn’t in the album version, as she makes the song really annoying to listen to on its own, a problem none of the other songs have.
My personal favorite songs are Respectless and Loser, the latter of which is a beautiful use of Keith David’s powerful singing voice and is a great subversion of a tired musical trope of a character being at their lowest point and being told they’re actually doing fine. It does something I’ve seen more and more of lately by telling the characters (and audience) that misery loves company, and complaining about the shit you have to deal with can be cathartic with the right friend(s).
All these competing forces (good lyricism and instrumentation, solid vocals, underdeveloped plots and characters, poorly paced song lead-ups) culminate in one song, though: You Didn’t Know. It’s a beautiful song with a powerful theme and a dynamic tempo. The visuals are strong, from the reflection of hellfire in Sera’s eyes to Adam and Lute being seen from a low angle to the visual parallel between Charlie and Em - but this is where the pacing issue collides with the visual and musical quality. Em is nobody. At most she’s a fangirl with implied cosmic power, and her taking Charlie’s side seems to be due more to her naïveté than to a strong moral backbone. This weakens the impact of the otherwise bone-chilling line “if hell is forever, then heaven is a lie” and dampens the impact of the scene as a whole.
And sadly, that’s the state of the music as a whole, it’s really solid and well executed but ultimately undercut by the story being too much content for the given amount of time.
I wish we got to see more of the six month interim
At the very start of the series, we get a countdown clock, and then each episode skips huge amounts of time and development. It’s like trying to watch Avatar The Last Airbender but only watching the first, tenth, and last episode of each season. You miss all the hard work that it takes to improve oneself. There’s hints at it - the big moments, the revelations, the confrontation between a character’s new ideas about how they should be and how they used to be - but these big events are only made possible by the smaller moments we don’t get to see.
Sir Pentious’s development being marked by his ability to admit his feelings for Cheri Bomb is silly, and pays off well, but I want to see more of how he processed those ideas on his own.
Alastor’s machinations are hinted at very overtly but sadly don’t go far enough in this season to be properly interesting. They’re more like a character quirk than a functional part of the story, and it was weird getting nods to him using Charlie’s power for his own ends and making an ambiguous deal with her in the finale but not doing anything with it. On that note, if I hadn’t seen the pilot five years ago, i doubt the handshake scene would’ve had even half the impact it did. The function of deals within the context of this hell isn’t fully realized in Hazbin Hotel, which is a shame, because it means the audience is left to draw their own significance dependent on their knowledge of other mythology. Faustian bargains aren’t nearly as culturally ubiquitous as the broad concept of punitive afterlife, a concept that the show went to great pains to describe in its somewhat clunky opening exposition.
I want more Cheri Bomb. That’s it, that’s this whole paragraph.
The Vees are the best introduced characters in the series. It’s succinct, it’s easy to tell who and what they are within frames of seeing them, they’re not dynamic enough to need any more explanation than they get, but for all that solid introduction, they really don’t do much between episode 4 and the finale. They’re major players in the political landscape of the setting, but they drop out of the story until they’re neared as reaction machines in the final fight. Alastor puts Vox in his place within 10 minutes of them coming into conflict. Val makes Angel Dust’s life hard, which helps propel several of his big character development moments, but he’s just another bad boss character once he leaves frame after Poison. He loses a lot if his impact as an abuser character when Angel Dust talks about his job the same way an office worker talks about their overly demanding manager. Velvette has powerful stage presence but ultimately doesn’t do much to serve her own motivations. Instead, she answers a key question raised at the start of the show and fleshes out the Vees’ stance in relation to the more traditional Overlord hierarchy, but I have no idea what she wants.
Nifty sucks now. Not really. I still like her, but she’s just a “haha so crazy” character, rather than the more subdued and secretly sinister character she was in the pilot. I love that she got the last laugh in the finale with her Chekov’s knife, but it would’ve been more fun and interesting if she hadn’t been acting like that for 100% of her on-screen appearances.
I like Husker. He’s the most subdued character in the series. I still think he’s the most over-designed (only slightly edging out Alastor for the title) but I stopped caring about that about halfway through season one of Helluva Boss. His development and charm are subtle, and the overt difference in his behavior when Alastor pulls rank is fascinating. Unlike everybody else, he gets exactly enough screen time to get his character across and to see the challenges to his assumptions imposed by the rest of the cast. Keith David was also a perfect casting choice. I can’t get over hearing Doctor Facilier sing the phrase “You’re a power bottom at rock bottom.”
Charlie and Vaggie see the least development, understandable as they’re the paragon characters, but less understandable is the issue that their relationship feels underrepresented and understated. I just want to see them being happy together more, rather than mostly being presented as business partners with aligned goals who call each other babe (until the reprise of More Than Anything, of course).
All in all, the show has a LOT of content for all these characters across a long period of in-world time crammed into not a lot of episodes, and it mostly damages the ultimate theme of the series in having so much stuff happening all at once. I’m not sure if a story with this many moving parts could ever properly fit into only 8 episodes, though.
Things I’m glad they removed since the pilot and things I wish they’d removed more of
The Johnny-Test-esque overuse of expressive foley was the single worst addition to the pilot. I’m glad they didn’t use those in the final product.
The over-use of “fuck” is still present, and it comes across as forced in places, but it’s nowhere near as incessant as in the pilot or Helluva Boss. I get that the writers were edgy young millennials on Deviant Art in the 2000s, but just because I understand why a writing decision was made doesn’t mean I have to like it. Im not against the use of fuck, shit, damn, etc - I swear like an imagineer and I write like a terminally online nerd - but at a point it’s excessive. Judicious use of curses is just as important as careful use of any aspect of language.
The squash-and-stretch over-animation of faces in the pilot always bugged me. I kept hearing people say “oh the animation is so good! See how much everybody moves” and I just don’t see it that way. Quantity is not quality. Having a lot of animation isn’t the same as having good animation, just like having a lot of worldbuilding isn’t the same as good worldbuilding (looking at you, JKR). I appreciate the way the motion was toned down for the full production. It looks cleaner, more organized, less needlessly chaotic. It also means when powerful characters start distorting their form, it has more impact, which I like a lot. Alastor is a lot more intense now because he’s not constantly blobbing around like a Gumby character.
A correction/addendum for my original post
I appreciate the use of Adam as a stand-in for a patriarchal status quo, and his use as the head of the inquisitors makes more sense with the context that a majority of heaven’s residents are not aware of the annual exterminations.
I’m 3 episodes into Hazbin Hotel
It’s a lot better than I was expecting, but I have some criticisms:
1. The cast needs to stop acting like Angel is disgusting for being into what he’s into. Literally everybody they come across seems to comment on how gross they think it is, and it kind of clashes with how popular he supposedly is.
2. The songs need more breathing room. There’s 0.2 second of lead-in to some of them. I get that the snappy, overly energetic animation and editing is a rollover from the pilot, but it’s strangling the songs and preventing them from having the gravity they should have.
3. The plot progression feels like a list of bullet points. I’m not going to spoil it, but there’s a major mystery brought up in episode 1 that is answered in episode 3 very unceremoniously and with very little time for the mystery to stew. There’s potentially a very interesting intrigue plot going on, but it’s impact is damped by the fact that it’s delivered very matter-of-fairly by a bunch of supposedly very powerful characters who we haven’t seen before.
4. The spider dude who speaks in pseudo-Shakespearian English is very difficult to understand, and I couldn’t catch his many any of the three or so times it was said because I was trying to process the last thing he’d said. A lot of characters’ voice lines are mixed strangely, but his prose makes it almost impossible.
5. The animation and character designs are much better than in the pilot, but some of the steps they took to simplify the visuals backfired a bit. They cut back on the excess detail and over-animating just enough to make the style still distinctive, but ended up with some 3/4 perspectives that look real wonky. There are also a few shots where characters are forced into a perspective view and it shows.
6. Adam shouldn’t be the leader of the angels. Based on my (limited) knowledge of the worldbuilding, it’s based on 14th century occult appropriation of Jewish spiritual myths like Goetia (as described in the Lesser Key of Solomon) and concepts like the seven deadly sins, so by that token, the leader of the army of angels should be the angels whose name literally means “The Sword of God”: Gabriel. They could also have used the angels of death, Justice, light, or any number of other aspects. I get that they’re not being super strictly literal to those old times (and that’s for the best, Crowley, Aleister, and co were foundational to many modern antisemitic conspiracy theories), but Adam is a weird choice a leader of armies.
All that to say, I’m really excited to watch the rest of the series, but I’m not going to keep my expectations somewhat low.

She has all but confirmed all my hopes and dreams about a Vaggie backstory, interactions with Lucifer, interactions with Carmella, and a spicy past with Lute 😍😍😍
