i saw this tweet and found it interesting for two reasons. one is that some people base how good cartoon network would be to toh by how it treated su, and despite the fact that su’s treatment by the network was considered poor at the time, now its thought to be exceptionally good in comparison to modern shows.

two is how exactly su got impacted by a limited budget. a common criticism is how characters like connie, peridot, and lapis are left out of missions. but balancing a lot of characters is not only hard but also costly (extra animation, extra voices—it’s been revealed that the show is limited to a set number of characters per episode otherwise they’re over budget). animation mistakes are not uncommon since retakes cost extra. the entire reason the original show got cut short was due to loss of funding!

The day of Suzume's first blind date had finally arrived and the person she met was Naoki Ito! During their walk to the restaurant, Suzume tried to engage in his conversations and asked questions about him. Naoki was happy to be given this much attention and felt attached to Suzume already. "He's a bit clingy..." Suzume said in her head then she heard a girl giggle behind them "Otosan?" His kids were there.

She had no idea what was happening to Naoki's marriage, but his kids seemed cheerful about both their parents and she got the impression he was happily married. In the nicest way possible she said it was best to end the date and stay friends (really she wanted to get out of there). And that was how the blind date was over before it even started 🫣

kai leiko: lola's male model boytoy. this life of being a kept man would be a dream were it not for lola's pesky adopted son demanding all her attention, and moxie always being in her ear. kai is getting older, he hasn't booked any major gigs in a while, and if lola breaks it off with him, he fears he will be right back at the bottom of the z-list. he can't make it on killer cheekbones alone. and then who will pay for the clothes, the sports car, and the SOLSTICE gym membership? 😱

moxie logan: celebrity personal trainer and lola's best friend. moxie is a girl's girl. she's all about physical and mental wellness, women empowering themselves, and striving to be better every day. so you can imagine how it boils her blood to see her best friend stay with a man who doesn't benefit her, and who actively leeches off of her hard work and success! she's bitten her tongue so far, out of respect for lola. "as long as she's happy," moxie says to herself. she stares daggers at kai every chance she gets. she works off her frustration on the punching bag and centres herself on the yoga mat. but one of these days, she really wants to give kai (and lola) a piece of her mind.
