British Prime Minister Sunak attends Ram Katha Vachan by Morari Bapu at the Cambridge University

British Prime Minister attended the independence day function at Cambridge University on Tuesday. Here he met renowned Ramayana ‘kathakar’ Morari Bapu and said that he was there “not as prime minister but as a Hindu”.

Addressing a gathering of people of Indian origin at the Jesus College Sunak claimed to be a “proud British” and a “proud Hindu”. The Jesus College hosted such kind of event for the first time as a way to mark Morari Bapu’s 921st recital titled ‘Manas Vishwavidyalaya.’

"It is truly an honor and pleasure to be here today at Morari Bapu's Ram Katha at the University of Cambridge on Indian Independence Day. Bapu, I am here today not as a Prime Minister but as a Hindu," said Mr Sunak said.

Beginning his address with a Jai Shri Ram, Sunak said, “Being Prime Minister is a great honor, but it is not an easy job. There are difficult decisions to make, hard choices to confront and our faith gives me courage, strength, and resilience to do the best that I can for our country”.

He also added that there is a “golden Ganesha sits gleefully on my desk at 10 Downing Street”.

The spiritual leader also welcomed the PM saying, Like an ordinary person, our Rishi Sahab is here. A warm welcome to you. May lord Hanuman bless you and the British people reap the benefits.”

Rishi further explained how faith has been his guiding force throughout the journey to the PM’s seat. "For me, faith is very personal. It guides me in every aspect of my life. Events in Gujarat

After the previous travels I reached at 40 km of Somnath temple in an ashram called Vrindavan Rampara.

Not far from the ashram it was held the katha of Morari Bapu which had to stop because of the beginning of the lockdown. It was a touching program. Even if I don’t speak Gujarati it was very touching especially the bhajans.

Morari Bapu came to London and brought 140 poets, singers and musicians with him for the 9 days katha he recited at Wembley Arena.

Of the 6 cultural evenings, 3 evenings had predominantly Muslim artists - gazhals, shers, mushairas, Zakir Hussain's tabla concert. 3 evenings were for bhajans, Gujarati Dayro and classical music.

Such boheme between different artists is a testimony of Moraribapu and Rameshbhai's boundless love of culture and generosity.
