BL Superlatives of 2023

Instead of doing a roundup (which I still might do) I just decided to do my own Best of 2023 for the handful of BLs I watched this year.

Series I Finished for the Couple- A Boss and A Babe. The plot had way too much going on and a lot of the pieces didn't flow well and a lot of things really pissed me off. Also the only side characters I liked were Porsche and Jack. But I LOVED Boss Daddy Gun and his Cher Bear. They filled me with joy and warm fuzzies and I loved how dependent they were on each other. Gun got was able to let his guard down and Cher found someone he could be vulnerable with.

Love Scene the Made Me HOLLER- Love in Translation. YangPhumjai fucking nasty across their freshly opened convenience store. They fucked in front of the security cameras and with the way they were slamming each other into the shelves I'm surprised more merchandise wasn't all over the floor. 10/10 love scene. Also I adore YangPhumjai.

Messiest Plot-Moonlight Chicken. Between the cheating, crying, screaming, and fighting I was thoroughly entertained. They had my emotions all over the place. I loved the series in it's entirety. (No I haven't watched OF or that would've won lol)

Dilf of the Year- Jeng from Step By Step. Everything about that man screamed 'Daddy'. He was sweet but stern. A very gentle Dom. He ran multiple businesses. He wore dad jeans on his off days. He had a beautiful smile and a BANGING body. And all he wanted to do was cook and take care of Pat...maybe teach him a few thangs. Sigh yeaaaa He was Pat's daddy idc.

Most Likely to Get Jumped- Saengtai from La Pluie. Don't you dare lie and say you didn't want to fight him at SOME point in this series. Tai was just very selfish and did not know how to apologize. He blamed everyone else for everything and he acted like a spoiled brat through most of the series. And I for one wanted to beat him up a couple of times. He's so cute tho.

Best Dressed-Chen Yi x Ai Di from Kiseki: Dear to Me. One favored collars, sweaters, and bright colors and the other had more of a biker-streetwear-combat style and somehow they ended up matching 79% of the time. They looked good together. The stylists popped off.

Most Goodest Boy- Woo Seung Hyun from the New Employee. Just a sweet 28 yr old man eager to work and be his very best. His bubbly personality is easy to love and I just want to squish his face, kiss his forehead, and hug him for hours. I see why Jong Chan fell in love immediately.

Most Sad Boy-Seo Jae Won from The Eighth Sense. He shut himself off to the people around him and allowed terrible people into his life because he didn't care enough to show them who he was in real life, he covered everything with a mask and acted the way people would expect so they wouldn't seem him crumbling inside. He blamed himself for his brother's passing and also for Ji Hyun's accident. He felt like he deserved every bad thing that happened to him and every bad person in his life. Ji Hyun brought light into his life after being shrouded in darkness for so long.

Hottest Couple-KingUea from Bed Friend. The love scenes always delivered. That kitty play scene?????? There was consent everywhere which was also sexy. King was such a green flag and they were hot together. Uea wasn't afraid to be sexy and King was a bonafide bisexual himbo who refused to be shy about sex and all it entails. They were grown and sexy type of hot.

Hottest Scene-The oil rubbing scene from I Feel You Linger in the Air. Not explicit, but extremely sensual. You can feel the desire and tension in that rub down Jom gave Yai. And then Jom going into his room to rub himself down and relive the moment that just passed??? HOT AF. Personally, I think IFYLITA was the most sensual series I watched all year. The series focused a lot on intimacy and physical touch.

Most Potential-Step By Step. This series had all the makings of a perfect plot but then everything just sort of got away from them. The office part of the office romance sort of stepped on the romance part. There was too much business involved and it made the conflict between the two mains unnecessary and annoying. Also they completely neglected the side couple and made their storyline almost non-existent. The eps were long af and yet the time wasn't placed in the right parts of the storylines and some scenes felt like a waste...even some eps. It was a bummer because I liked all the characters and first leg of the series. JengPat are top notch and I wanted more from JaabJane.

Fave Side Dish-YiwaMarine from Wedding Plan. Ooops slipped some girls in! Gawd I LOVED THEM! Yiwa was such a sweet talker! She was def a smooth operator. That line about her liking being short so she could kiss Marine better????? SWOON! I could totally see why Marine could never stay mad at her and was always blushing. They were just the perfect pair of girlfriends turned wives and I'm sad we didn't get invited to their wedding.

you stared up at the sky as you let the hot tub water simmer against the skin, its warmth juxtaposing to the very cold nights of the planet they were occupying at the moment. God why the hell does Jinsoul live here, it's cold as shit!, you thought to yourself, at least she got this hot tub. you sinked yourself further into the hot tub until only your eyes were above water. The blueish moon shone brightly onto the land. It reminded you of the long nights on Earth where you and Jungeun would drink and look at the stars, wishing there was more time.

  “ What are you doing here at this hour?,” a deep, raspy voice had asked. “Wouldn’t you like to fucking know,” you replied, taking a long sip from your 5th bottle of beer that night. “I don’t mean to enrage you but it's late and you’re intoxicated. We're on a mission not a vacation.” “Why don't you suck on my ass huh Karina. Or maybe better suck my dick.”

    Silence filled the landscape and you thought you had won this battle. If you couldn't beat Karina in the brain or muscle department, you can beat her in being a jackass. But before you could break into a victory hum, a ruffle of clothes could be heard and as you turned to the left, there was Karina, undressing. “What the hell are you doing?!”

“Relaxing,” Karina responded, slipping into the tub in her sports bra and panties. 

Awkward silence filled the air as both looked anywhere but each other. What the hell does she think she is doing! You thought to yourself. You take sly glances at your bionic counterpart and can already feel your face heat up to that blush you loathe. Karina is stretching, practically flexing her muscles right in your face. You could see the intricate water drops slowly gliding down her already perfect skin, digging into the crevices of abs and pure buff seemingly crafted by God himself. You had enough of this so you decided, more correctly the booze in your system decided that you needed to say something.

“You know what… you are just hilarious Karina!” you huffed out.

“Pardon?” Karina turns slightly, facing you.

⌗ position wise, tooru is well, obviously in the passenger’s seat. what’s annoying is how far back he has his seat😐 and watari is like right behind him BUT SAYS NOTHING.

⌗ if the road trip is long, tooru however, will step in as a backup driver because poor poor iwa-chan gets so sleepy at night from having a NORMAL sleep schedule!! ( tooru doesn’t, this is why he has this job.. )

⌗ in terms of driving tho he’s pretty smooth, goes at a reasonable speed and is fairly calm in terms of IDIOTS on the road — but he has his moments occasionally where he gets annoyed

⌗ probably has the super specific thing he wants to see that convinced him to go on this road trip and see it through to the end ( it’s something godzilla related i bet )

⌗ usually likes to snack while he’s driving, helps keep him awake — but since he doesn’t wanna get the steering wheel dirty, he has cherries his mom pack him LMAO ( “share with the others!!” and he gatekeeps )

There’s a pleasant silence stretching in the car, the only sounds breaking it are the rumbling of the engine and an occasional car passing them by on the otherwise empty road. It’s dark out, the full moon shining brightly, bathing everything in a pretty, white glow. Eddie really likes driving at night – scratch that, he really likes when his amazing boyfriend drives, and he can just relax and look out the window, in the peace and quiet of the night.

Today, though, his eyes are set only on Buck. His gorgeous face, only his profile visible since he’s focused on the road, his lips twisted into a small smile, moonlight illuminating his skin making him look almost unreal. He shrugged off his jacket before getting in the car, and is now just in a t-shirt, one of those tight ones he likes, that hug his muscular arms like second skin, always making Eddie wonder how they’re not ripping with the smallest movements.

Eddie loves those arms, loves being surrounded by them as Buck wraps him in the best hugs, or uses them to hold Eddie close, pin him against the mattress, or any other surface, and fuck him sensless, so strong he can hold him in place, maneuver and adjust their positions as he pleases, taking full control. He also loves having those arms all over himself whenever the roles are reversed, and he’s the one fucking Buck, Buck’s every little touch, grip, caress overwhelming his senses. And those big, calloused, skilled hands… 

Well, clearly, his thoughts are really getting away from him, his beautiful, attractive, irresistible boyfriend, whom he’s so in love with, looking so fucking amazing right now, making Eddie want to jump his bones right here right now – which he’d love to do if he weren’t driving, of course.

One of Buck’s hands is on the steering wheel, while the other sits firmly on Eddie’s thigh, thumb moving in small circles, and his touch feels hot through the fabric of Eddie’s jeans. The pleasant buzzing of alcohol in Eddie’s veins after the few drinks he’s had tonight, plus the proximity of Buck, his touch, the wonderful smell of his cologne filling up the car, makes him feel so relaxed and at ease, and loose – and, honestly, turned on. He can’t wait until they get home.

He reaches down to put his hand on Buck’s, slotting his fingers between his, and Buck glances at him with a soft smile. Then his eyes focus back on the road, but his smile shifts into a smirk.

“What’s that look, baby?”

“What look?” Eddie asks innocently, as if he didn’t know exactly the way he’s looking at Buck right now. He can’t help it, he’s filled with so much want and desire – he always is, for Buck – and tonight it’s only intensified by how hot Buck looks (when does he not, though) and having drunk just enough alcohol to lower his inhibitions and make him horny (well, hornier).

“You know damn well what look.” Buck chuckles, fingers digging into Eddie’s thigh a little harder, making Eddie’s breath hitch. “Someone’s in the mood, huh?” he licks his lips, and Eddie just cannot look away from his face, not that he’d ever want to. And then, he can feel Buck’s hand on his thigh start to move, Eddie’s still on top of it, slowly inching higher and higher.

Stars Shining Bright Above You (Jotaro-centric)

(author's note: no nsfw in this one! a shocker, I know. Very angsty tho, and features other characters that will be in the tags! Contains mature language and minor violence! Enjoy!)

"Jotaro!" Noriaki shouts into the darkness.

Mr. Joestar shivers. "We should never have split up. This was a horrible idea."

Splitting up in DIO's manor was probably the worst idea they've ever had. DIO was known to have many worshipers, and his damn mansion was probably crawling with them, waiting for the chance to kill them.

And now that they'd been separated, Jotaro was nowhere to be found. They had no pagers, no telephones, not even walkie-talkies. No way to contact him.

Noriaki hits Mr. Joestar on the shoulder. "Quit it, that isn't helping anything. We need to hold hope that Jotaro is fine."

He has to be. Noriaki doesn't know what he'd do if he isn't.

There's a clatter from behind them, and when Noriaki swivels his head around, he sees a chalice knocked to the ground from a shelf it was sat on. Rolled out from the shadows.

Okay. Not scary at all.

Mr. Joestar steps over to it, kneels down to pick it up. When he does, there's the sound of a Stand shimmering into existence and then he goes flying across the room.

Immediately, Noriaki summons his own Stand, on guard. Hierophant Green slithers over his shoulders protectively as the footsteps lead out into the light where the group can see their attacker.

Noriaki's jaw drops when Jotaro steps out into the light. His hat casts a shadow over his eyes, his shoulders are tense, and his hands are stuffed in his pockets. Star Platinum looks...off behind him. His usually expressive eyes are dim, his hair doesn't flow in whatever imaginary wind it always does.

"Jotaro?" Noriaki doesn't put Hierophant Green away. There's something weird going on that Noriaki doesn't trust. "What the hell are you doing?"

Jotaro doesn't answer him, which isn't exactly uncharacteristic. Noriaki's skin still crawls anyway.

Mr. Joestar comes stumbling back to Noriaki's side, hand clutched around his stomach where Star Platinum punched him. "Jotaro, what the hell are you doing?! This is no time to fool around!"

This causes Jotaro to finally look up, but something's wrong...His eyes don't focus on anything, his mouth is set into a dangerous scowl, unlike his usual one. Footsteps echo out from the darkness behind him, and DIO steps out into the moonlight.

His smirk is menacing.

"Do you see now, Jotaro?" he purrs, plants a hand on his shoulder. "Your friends don't trust you...they see you as the danger you truly are."

DIO's words seem to push Jotaro into action. Star Platinum descends on Mr. Joestar, who was closest to him, and swings his fist at his head. Mr. Joestar barely has enough time to jump back to dodge it. "Jotaro, what are you doing?!"

Jotaro doesn't answer, but DIO laughs maniacally. "You fools! I've already won! The Joestar bloodline ends with me!"

A disgustingly crude way to look at it, sure. DIO would, technically, be the last of the bloodline, if he killed Jotaro, and Mr. Joestar, and Miss Holy. Because of what he'd done with Jonathan Joestar's body.

It was sick, and cruel, and Noriaki can't wait to be rid of him.

The edge of Jotaro's hat flips up when he glares blankly at them, and Noriaki sees it. That damned flesh bud.

"Careful!" Noriaki cries to Mr. Joestar, dodges one of Jotaro's attacks. "DIO's put a flesh bud in him!"

Noriaki catches a glimpse of righteous anger flashing in Mr. Joestar's eyes. And he understands. DIO has already tortured his family enough; made his daughter fall deathly ill, killed his grandfather, and indirectly killed his father, too. Why must DIO make their family suffer more?

Hierophant Green slips over to meet Noriaki's eyes, and determination runs through his veins.

"Okay, Hierophant, we need to save him."

As always, Hierophant Green understands him on a fundamental level. Noriaki uses one of Hierophant's tentacles to swing over to Jotaro to get up close and personal. It seems to startle him because Star Platinum takes another swing at him.

"Jotaro! Listen to me!"

Girl I was literally one of your first likes but I couldn't respond right after I read it because I was running late for my lecture. But this is what I think of the latest POYT chapter

IT WAS AWESOME : 11/10

1) For the first time I did not hate Steve and was actually hurt when he hurt in the very end. It was as if I had the mark and I could literally visualize him being hurt seeing Omega being taken away just after she's aid yes to marrying him, after he told her he loved her and after she told him she was pregnant. That's absolutely devastating.

2) I STAN OMEGA. The way the girl finally let her real emotions out this time. For once her inner Omega was stiffened by her other feelings. Each time she hit him for each of his bs was so so so stress busting. Fr she was under so much pressure. I am so happy she finally put herself first and stood up for herself. The way Steve treated her was absolutely unacceptable.

3) FUCK OFF BUCKY. Tf is wrong with you?! What kind of sick person leaves a girl out in pouring rain and laughs? The audacity he had to think Omega would cheat. It doesn't only show how bad of a friend he is but also how low he thinks of Omega. You really think she would be unfaithful to Steve because he did that to her? And even if she was - trust me lad - not happening with you out of all the people. Fucking knob. I wish Steve threw him out of the house.

4) Even tho Sam was shitty throughout the series seeing him sincerely apologize was kinda nice and sweet. Made me break into a little smile between all the angst.

5) Peter, baby ik you're heart's in the right place, but respectfully ...... piss off. Not happening. Also hilarious that he's the one GRIPPING Omega and dragging her away. WHY CANT THESE BOYS LEARN A BIT ABOUT ✨️CONSENT✨️

6) Jensen getting to play was so sweet, now all he needs is some nice company who actually treats him well.

7) As a reader I want to feel like a part of the story, I DID. IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME. I felt as if I, myself was in that poytverse. I saw Omega cry and imagined Steve sketching her at night in the dim moonlight when her skin glows and she's so peaceful and finally looks like an angel cause she is one. I felt the love, I felt the rage and I felt the hurt. There was so much that I can't even begin to comment on everything. I bet I missed out a lot but I really wish I got to comment on each and every line.

It was everything I imagined and more. It was so well written, love. Honestly, it probably made my entire week and will get me through my hectic schedule. I also recommended it to my best friend and I Def think she'll love this too.

Btw, the I love you and I am pregnant at the football game after they won the game - straight out of a fairytale. It think Steve might truly deserve Omega now. And the one where he exposed his neck for her to mark - MADE ME SO WEAK.

1. Poor Stevie😩 finally poured his heart out (as much as someone as heartless as him can) and it was all thrown back in his face when his omega left him. His perfect life — future wife, baby, everything — was ripped away from him and I wonder how sadistically he will react to that🤔

2. Yassss omega finally let Steve have it! I wanted to write this for all of us, bc all my readers have hated how she was treated — so i was hoping it would be super satisfying to see her voicing her frustrations!

3. Bucky is kind of delusional… I guess he just can’t seem to grasp that Steve got to omega first. He’s insulted that she’s not interested in him — bc he’s slowly becoming obsessed with her😮‍💨 her rejection insulted him so much that he not only locked her out in the rain, but he also twisted her arm painfully😭😭 the villain of poyt, and we haven’t seen the last of him!

4. Sam showing signs of maturity! But also… omega didn’t forgive him and she doesn’t have to hehe.

5. Unfff exactly!! All these boys need to chill and give omega some space to figure things out for herself!! 😤😤😤

6. Jensen played well!! I didn’t write it in the chapter, but he played well and even Steve was begrudgingly impressed. Not nearly as good as Bucky would’ve been tho.

My big bro sometime in the distant past, when I was like 6 or 7, downloaded Phantasmagoria of Dim Dream and a pc-98 emulator for our uncle's pc, then both of us got hooked with the 'pew pew girls'. My bro liked Reimu and I liked Yumemi because her theme was GOOD STUFF! The emulation was somewhat unstable at the time but the music could be heard enough to enjoy it!

Then one year after that and, my family still couldn't afford a pc or a console, so I used to go to cybercafes near home after school to unwind at the internet for 2 hours. There I saw a post on a site that talked about phantasmagoria and how they would like another with characters i had no idea who they were? Like, there was this image of a girl in a pink dress with demon wings, which turned out to be Remilia.

At the time, I knew english pretty well, could speak some broken sentences and type it almost nicely so I asked who was that gal and in which game she appeared, which lead me to play EoSD and then get even more hooked with the 2hus, now calling them properly. The olde meme videos and whatnot happened seconds after I checked that post too, so it was like... Orange Clockwork-style exposure to the series, but actually enjoyable!

As for favorites... As soon as I played EoSD and went even deeper into the rabbit hole, I found that people liked this nameless mid boss that came before Cirno and people called her 'Daiyousei' and at the time, I had this thing for underdog characters... Which somehow partially replaced Yumemi because I didn't remember her very well anymore and this midboss green fairy was very present in online communities. After that, I played every 2hu game that came out before the same cyber cafe had to be closed forever, because at that time, people with internet and pcs at home were super common. However, we finally had a decent pc... with subpar internet though... So when we went to my uncle's, we always tried to download as many things as possible! It was also the time when my big bro left home to make his life alone and sadly he forgot all about 2hu so I was all alone irl about those games cuz my friends didn't like it that much.

In 2015, LoLK was released and I downloaded it, very excited to try it out! I think I almost failed a subject because of how hard it was and how hardheaded i was to finish it heh... Then I got to the extra stage, there she was... Hecatia Lapislazuli... It was such a difficult fight, couldn't even get past the first spell card! Until one friday night, I bought some snacks, invited friends to give cheers and play Smash bros after trying... and... I won! I got through the extra stage of LoLK!!!

Some days later, my sketchbooks had very crude drawings of Hecatia, Junko and Clownpiece together, I became obsessed with them! I loved the trio and I never wanted them to get em outta my head!

It was much, much later that I named myself 'Hecatia666' online tho. Previously I was trying to get a presence online as 'Daiyousei' but that name had to fade out because of how obsessed I became with Hecatia. And yes, I remember how everyone was like 'ugh that design is from hot topic doesn't look like 2hu at all' and how that didn't stop me from liking her so much.

As for character themes, it's hard to pick a single favorite... Pandemonic Planet, Pure Furies and Pierrot of the Star-Spangled Banner always come first!

I think the Pc-98 era deserves a mention too and of course Strawberry Crisis never got completely forgotten, alongside Tabula Rasa and Reincarnation!

Oh right dark souls progress check

The library was cool. I actually enjoyed it for the most part even tho I was lost for a while. Seith wasn't really difficult either, got him in a few tries but also I did not go for the moonlight greatsword fuck that noise. Especially when the channeler's spear dropped

Lost Izalith is... something. Parts of it are so easy while the others feel like someone's old romhack where they stacked a shitton of monsters together in an awful place and went "see? Look how hard it is". Firesage Demon was tough but I think part of it was because of how closed in the arena was. His mechanics were simple enough. Also he dropped his catalyst which I'm told is a rare drop and thus very funny. I accidentally glitched the centipede demon on my first attempt and won because of that which was fucking hilarious also RIP to Solaire because my ass is NOT grinding rats for humanity. Tree that I can't remember the name of was so fuckin silly and I feel like I was running back to that bitch more times than Smough and Ornstein but we got there!
