Variant cover for Phases of the Moon Knight (Vol. 1/2024), #2 by Declan Shalvey.
#Marvel#Marvel comics#Phases of the Moon Knight#Moon Knight comics#let’s get this other bread#Moon Knight#Sol#there are SO many little details here that I love#(as if I should expect any less from Mr. Shalvey)#like the thematic implications of the slim crescents!#how EVERYTHING is crescents including the drape across the shoulders his blades and the knee/shoe/glove details#that take me back to trying to break down all the details of the vol. 7 costume (good times the best even)#also love the cut outs at the top of the sleeves#and how I could see this guy puffing up his feathers like a disgruntled corvid

Phases of the Moon Knight #2 by Jed MacKay, Declan Shalvey, Jorge Fornés and Eder Messias. Cover by Mateus Manhanini. Variant cover by Woo-Chul Lee. Out in September.
"The saga of the MOON KNIGHT spins on, as JED MACKAY, writer of the smash-hit MOON KNIGHT and VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT series revisits vintage Marc Spector, with a period piece about peril and punching! THEN: DECLAN SHALVEY returns to the pages of MOON KNIGHT, only this time he’s sets his sights on the future! Introducing an ALL-NEW Fist of Khonshu and a crime-ridden vision of a Marvel Universe, both older, grittier and worse for wear than any you’ve seen before!"

Rambling About Moon Knight (2014)
So I just read the six issue run of Moon Knight by writer Warren Ellis, Penciler Declan Shalvey, and colorist Jordie Bellaire. And I have some thoughts that I'm going to ramble about if your willing to indulge me.
One of the interesting things to me is how unconcerned the series is with Moon Knight's interiority. For anyone who somehow doesn't know, the man behind the mask, Marc Spector has dissociative identity disorder (DID). I feel like for most writers they would be interested in attempting to tackle this topic with a character like Moon Knight. The comic does show his alters and does have characters refer to him as "crazy" but really that's all we get on his interiority. The alters don't talk, we are just shown them standing there a few times in the series. I don't think this is a particular weakness of the series, tackling Marc's DID might be more then you could reasonably do with such little runway. Instead the series concerns itself more with telling little Moon Knight vignettes. Little stories where a threat is introduced, Moon Knight appears, and finally Moon Knight resolves the issue.
If anything we get more of a focus on the one-off villain's interiority over Marc's. The villains often get to do a little speeches right before or after the fights, in a way I suppose there is something being said about Marc by the villains he fights. One villain wants to be like Moon Knight but wants to be loved whereas Marc doesn't. Another Villain like Marc was a mercenary left to die in a foreign land. Even if we aren't told much about Marc directly we are given these dark mirrors of him that tell us something by how they compare and contrast.
But back to the vignettes, they are exquisitely done little one issue stories that are very vibes driven, which is helped in large part due to the art team. The book has a very cinematic bent to it but doesn't at all shy away from doing things you could only do in comics. Shalvey does some truly inventive layouts.
On color Bellaire's work is also spectacular, she gives the comic a moody look but one of the things I most love about the coloring on this series is the restraint of coloring Moon Knight himself. Moon Knight is primarily left to just be white with black outlines in a world with very little white, it helps him stand out and gives a very distinct visual.
If I had to use a word for this series it would be confident, there big sections of these issues with little to no dialogue. I feel like most big two creative teams are afraid of just letting the art tell the story so it's always refreshing when that restraint is shown, and when it really works.
So yeah overall a easy recommend if your at all interested in reading some Moon Knight.

Moon knight #4 by Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey
The creative team of the first few issue of this series really liked to get Marc’s Mr Knight suits real bloodied up when fighting people, and presumably he’s taking that car he pulled up in back home. So in my head this interaction implies Marc is fine with getting blood all over the back seat but a single food crumb is unforgivable.
Also Odinburger should be as much of a meme as bat burger is
