"But they get one kid dressed up like some kind of death god and start thinking they can capture part of Calatia under the pretense of securing the border or some bullshit. Like you're just a tool for them! Well you're not, especially if I have anything to say about it. And I want to fuck them over too. Just a little. A smidgen." Ravio made a quick turn to the left, toward the docks.

"Don't worry, I've bribed the guards and Mr. Pirate Hero's got the boat ready. We're getting you out of here. If there's one thing I'm good at it's running away." The packed dirt turned to wooden planks under their feet, clacking under Ravio's boots and groaning under the former hero's.

"Also in retrospect I should have given you a better nickname Mr. Tiny Hero. My bad."

I couldn't get this idea out of my head until I got Something out, so! deity au!

Basically it's a generic fantasy world with a large pantheon of gods that are more representations of concepts. YN is a minor trickster spirit who's convinced some towns people they are actually a god and is in for a Big surprise when two big name gods decide to check in on their temple where YN has been hanging out. Sun and Moon are twin deities that are worshipped together. Some scholars argue they are two sides of the same being, though this is incorrect. There are many differences in how the mortals see gods (and magic in general) and how they actually are.

It is commonplace for temples to create a sort of doll for their gods to hopefully possess and interact with followers. Larger temples have more complex vessels while really small ones might only have straw effigies. It's really the thought that counts, especially since gods do not often possess these vessels, prefering to work through dreams and visions and stuff like that. Still, to not have a vessel is seen as a huge slight

Magic is very much A Thing, but its not something ordinary people often interact with. Very few mortals will ever directly interact with magic. Magic is a thing of gods, not men. (More greek myth than DND is basically the vibe)

YN is a trickster spirit with illusion powers. They were caught shapeshifting by a human man and when he assumed they were a god they shrugged and said 'sure lets see where this goes.' When people started giving them offerings they thought it was a sweet deal and stuck around to milk it for as long as they could.

they started sleeping in a tree behind a temple, which is how they caught they attention of two gods. YN did NOT expect it when the famously reclusive Sun and Moon decided to actually possess their vessel to 'check in' on their temple and the town.

Sun and Moon know YN is not a god. YN knows they know they're not a god. No one is addressing it. It's one big game of chicken to see who breaks character first.

It's been some time since I last actually posted something, but here's a little side piece I've been working on as I attempt to get back into traditional art.

I'd like to try and do these with a few other of the characters in the AU, but for now here's Deity Sunny 🌙

Making Fierce Deity Link into something that looks like a FromSoftware boss because no one has slapped the stylus out of my hands yet.

(If this were a FromSoftware game, the sword would become the double arced blade we know and love in the second phase and FD would stand upright)

second half of the deity refs! design notes under the cut

Sun and Moon share a vessel, with Moon taking control during the night. The vessel is a material sort of porcelain ball jointed doll type deal that physically looks like the Sun design, Moon changes it with his magic when he possesses it.

Because of this, Moon is pretty constantly cloaked in shadow which I didn't draw for clarities sake

The vessel was crafted with very high quality materials to honour the gods (and as a way for the town to show off its status)

Bells are directly tied to magic in this world, in both a symbolic and literal way, hence the abundance of them

YN is specifically a grey fox, and can change between their three forms at will. I thought this was a fun way to keep YN's human appearance blank for easier projection :p

Moon God! Fierce Deity

First part and Second part of this headcanon found here!

This is part does lean more towards the 'x reader' part of this little AU so keep that in mind while reading!! Reader is kept GN! but is described as 'beautiful' multipe times!

Okay but moon god! Fierce deity where his sun deity s/o’s natural form/state is just fucking huge— like straight up as big if not BIGGER than the actual sun. And moon god!fierce is like the size of their palm <3 even when sun shrinks down for whatever reason, they are just always taller than fierce, even if its just by an inch LMAO (moon! Fierce swears they do it on purpose but in reality its like a subconscious thing!)

Another idea, sun and fierce are physically unable to touch each other due to how fair their celestial bodies are. This normally leads to them talking from a far OR sending shooting stars to each other with little notes/gifts attached! But during eclipses the two are finally able to spend time together side by side, even if its just for the night! This normally leads to them dancing on the outskirts of the eclipses shadows.

BUT ANGST!!!!! After moon!fierce gets turned into a mask, sun is forced to be alone is the sky once more. And every time an eclipse comes by, all they do is hug onto the empty husk of the moon, fierce’s divine presence painstakingly gone. Sun grieves their lover the most during that time, which is why many people say to avoid looking at sky during an eclipse less you want to be blinded by the grieving sun when

moon!fierce was first created, Hylia had been the one to show him his duties as the god of the moon. This also meant that Hylia vaguely introduced Sun to fierce. The newly created god was in awe of the much older deity. To which Hylia teasingly pulled his face/eyes away from the enchanting sight of the sun, saying ‘careful, young one! Stare at the sun for too long and you’ll lose those ocean eyes. The beauty of the sun makes those selfish to stare go blind.’

And fierce, with a very new love struck look in his eyes, pulled his face back to the deity far, far away before muttering. ‘I would gladly go blind if they were the last thing I were to see.’

I think I might have forgotten to share this but um. Deities/priests au designs for their ‘mortal’ disguises and Reader in their temple member outfit (+ what I think I’m gonna make their lost deity traits, aka a halo, a set of small feathered wings on the sides of their head that r most justly for expressiveness, and wings that look like stained glass!)
