Heyy, I just saw your Prompt Request Masterlist. As I scrolled down there I haven't seen one with Cassian yet.
I wondered if you'd like to write a Cassian X reader with 35 + 37 + 41 ? Pretty please?💕💕
Thank you so much for all the lovely content, can't wait to read more from you✨

Pairing: Cassian x Siren!Reader
Warning(s): mentions of blood / war
Summary: Your escape turns out to be more than you ever could've imagined. Leaving behind your old habitat didn't necissarily mean leaving old habits; what will happen when you put them to the test in order to save a gorgeous bat-in-need?
SR's Note: I'm so excited for this ask -- and you have to follow my tangent here, alright. I know this concept is a little funky maybe, but I hope you enjoy it and how it ends! I had a blast writing it for you. This uses prompts #35, #37, and #41 from my masterlist! xoxo Tags: @cynthiesjmxazrielslover

Love was never easy. You knew that, in your long life of 478 years. You'd come to accept that over time, you may never fully experience life the way you'd dreamed you would -- you were destined, doomed to the worst fate in Prythian. A fate not many would ever understand.
Until you'd met him.
Another bitterly cold day under the water in the bog, the near pitch-blackness of it impossible to see through to the naked fae eye.
Good thing you weren't fae.
The other sirens swam about, but the heat of their bodies didn't provide any comfort as chatter of the looming war chilled your blood to the core. The others spoke as though this was a mere form of entertainment -- but not you. You found it hard to relate to others of your kind, ever longing to look like the beautiful mermaids and water wraiths that dwelled in the glittering waters of the courts. But, you were bound to this bottomless, dirty, dark pit for eternity.
When the war had finally begun, you knew it was a chance to escape. This, you decided, would be your way out.
You'd followed the stream, tail whipping violently through the murky waters for what felt like days on end. You didn't stop, even if it meant taking a slower pace at times. You left your belongings, only sparing the necessary healing items you may need.
If you were swimming into battle, you'd surely find those in handy.
After ages upon ages, the water began to thin, the dark, muddiness of it fading away as chrystalline waters beckoned for promise ahead. Even halfway between the dank water and the clear blue of the ocean, you'd found it hard to adjust your eyes to the blinding light from above. You were more adapted to the cloudy skies of the bog whenever you felt corageous enough to break the surface of your home lagoon, but this... this was so clear and vast that it took effort to adjust to the change.
When all of the filth had subsided, you noticed a few dark tendrils floating alongside you. They shone beautifully in the light, the sun reflecting upon them, framing each hilight and contour. Your hair. It was beautiful, the muck washing away with each movement of your head.
Gods, it'd been ages since you'd seen a mirror. The broken glass you'd kept didn't work too well in those murky waters.
Looking down, you decided you were quite alluring. The black pearls that stretched over your shoulders, covering most of your breasts only accentuated your moon-white skin. The feathery, ink-black tail that powerfully bobbed behind you... you understood now, why sirens were the ones that could call to any male and get an answer, not mermaids.
The water was glinting with sunlight, but as you kept swimming, you noticed odd shapes floating within. First, a trunk floated by. Then, a few red fruits bobbed along as you continued on your way, gripping your black fishnet bag tightly.
You finally understood the reasoning for the odd objects as you continued your trek.
Pieces of splintered wood cascaded around you, one piece pricking your finger when you reached out to grasp it. Ouch. But more than that, the water was rather... disturbed, ahead. Splashing from the surface indicated as much, and with every stride closer, you could hear roaring, voices, screams-
Splash!
All of a sudden, an anchor was being lowered just in front of you. The heavy iron had your eyes wide as it sank to the ocean floor, and peering up at the surface, you saw more than just the sunlight casting glow after glow throughout the water.
More items began breaking the surface, sinking heavily all around you. First, a bed. Then, random broken bits of china that looked as sharp as the wood. No touching.
A body.
Two.
Blood everywhere.
Your pupils dilated, the scent of blood filling your nose as male after male drifted along, blood pouring from them in delicious crimson waves. The sight was mouth-watering, the lurch in your stomach almost too much as you realize you hadn't feasted in days-
No. That wasn't why you'd come. You came to help, to change your ways -- eating those you'd hoped would accept you wouldn't do you any good. Though they were already dead...
You violently shook your head, longing to clear your mind from the insatiable, hungry, ravenous plaguing thoughts. Loud echoing sounded from above, almost lous enough to hurt your ears. You winced, drawing closer and closer to the surface.
Sploosh!
You rear back, your hands flailing wildly to avoid the sinking ship before you. The flags pulled in water with their wake, threatening to tangle you up and drown you had you not swam away. The wood of the ship's architecture cracked, sinking under it's own weight slowly. You would make out the gold lettering on the side as it fell.
N.
ES.
T.
A.
Hmm.
You swam above it, watching as the Nesta fell slowly, the large explosions above the water pinching your eardrums. You closed your eyes hard, bracing for the shock, waiting to break the surface-
Your eyes flew wide as you gasped for air, your lungs filling with smoke. The scent, the air, all of it; you choked, couching and wheezing as you treaded to keep upright. When you finally cleared your lungs, you looked around, really looked. So many ships, so many warriors on them, so many-
Bang!
Another explosion sent a ship up in flames, and you crossed your arms before your face to sheild from the blinding light. Screams all around, so much pain...
"Cassian!"
You heard the screaming before you saw him. A bird, a bat -- he fell from the sky, large wings crumpling and broken as he headed for the water. You knew this was it. You had to go, you had to go now.
You couldn't swim fast enough and watched as his body cascaded into the water before you. Too far. He was too far. You swam faster, coming to the surface to look for him. Surely, he'd fallen near here? You couldn't miss an enormous pair of wings, but... no matter where you looked, you only saw broken bodies and shattered wood. No him, anywhere.
You dorve underneath the surface once more to continue swimming, but that's when you spotted it -- those mangled, shredded wings drifting delicately in the water. You frantically swam to him, reaching to grab him, help him, but he fell out of reach.
He was sinking.
There was no way you'd get him back to his ship, you couldn't even leave the water; and he was too heavy.
You wrapped your arms beneath his shoulders, wrapping tight before kicking your tail with all your might in an attempt to bring you both back to the surface. It worked, a little. You slowly made your way up, his wings as fragile as a jellyfish tentacles. You made sure not to touch them.
When you finally broke the surface once more, you gasped, hauling him over a flat piece of wood and turning his face to yours. Gods, he was glorious. Your hand searched for his heart, a pulse to reassure you he wasn't dead -- you found nothing.
Panic set in, and you racked your brain for what to do in a situation like this one. You weren't used to healing or helping the fae -- usually, you would simply lure them in and have them for dinner.
Healing. That's what you needed to do.
A tidal wave almost pushed him off the wood, but you clung to him in an attempt to keep him grounded upon it. Thinking quickly, you shoved the mass, steady enough to keep him afloat but quickly to avoid being seen, avoid any more destruction. Land, you'd thought. He needed a stable place to rest, for you to work -- the shoreline.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *
"Cauldron damned, you better be worth saving."
You grumbled as you hauled him ashore, as far out of the water that you could reach without completely exiting it. It took massive, exhausting effort to get him here, but the deserted coast would be perfect for your attempt to revive him.
You slung your bag off your shoulder, the action slashing wet sand onto his cheek. You grimaced, reaching out to brush the wet sediment off. Your fingers lingered only for a moment as you stared, his handsomely carved features stunning you.
Heal him.
Right.
As you began digging in your bag, a strangled cough sounded beside you. Your eyes fixated on him as his chest heaved, a more sound cough echoing in his throat. He kept going, coughing, gasping, reaching for air-
Then he slowly opened his eyes. The milky chocolate brown orbs roamed wildly, first taking in the sky, then double-taking when he saw you.
"H....Holy SHIT!" He shouted, frantically pushing up onto his elbows and staggering backward. You flinched, a little afraid something like this would happen. His chest heaved wildly, his wings attempting to flare but only resulting in a pained groan and a hand on his ribs.
"It... it isn't good to move around in your condition," You offer, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. His eyes tracked the movement, growing wider and wider at the touch.
"What are you... who are you?" He asks, his hand still bracing his side.
"I'm... here to help you," you say, and his face contorts in pain.
"What?"
"Lie back down." You say, pushing lightly on his shoulder. To your surprise, he doesn't argue, but simply lies on his back, groaning with the movement. You move close again, leaning over him to get a good look.
"I... I think I can help, with your wings," you say. His nostrils flare as pain crashes through him again and again.
"Why." He asks lowly. Your brows knit.
"Why... why what?" You ask, reaching for the seaweed salve you'd brought. You extemd a hand to apply it, and he jerks backward, his steely glare holding yours.
"Why are you helping me." He grits out. "Why are you?"
"Y/N, is my name." You say, and he looks you up and down, at the tail curling into the water behind you.
"And you're... a, what? Healer? Mermaid?" He quizzes.
You sigh heavily. "Something like that."
He sits straighter, his gaze softening only slightly. "How do I know you're not working for Hybern?"
You knit your brows again. "High Who?"
He reads your expression, the corner of his lips tilting upwards. "Nevermind," he says, scootching closer. "You said, you have something to make it," he winces in pain again. "Better?"
You nod, showing him your balm. "Yes I do," you say. He sighs, contemplating his choice. Finally, shaking his head, he extends his wing to you slightly.
You press your fingers to his wing, near the tip of it and run them along the spine gently. Turns out, his wings are not feathery -- they're quite leathery. Strong.
He groans in pain again, and you gulp as you scoot closer, your hip touching his in the sand.
"What is your name?" You ask politely. He glances to you, and you suck in a breath. Gorgeous.
"Cassian," he answers, and you trail your fingers lower, brushing the weeds closer to the base of his wings. He continues to flinch in pain, and you try your best to distract him.
"From?"
"The Night Court." You nod solemnly.
"I've heard of it. The Cursebreaker; the High Lady, she dwells there." He nods, chuckling a bit.
"She sure does."
It's quiet for only a moment as you reach for the wing on the other side, not quite finding it with your fingers.
"And you?" He asks. His eyes meet yours, and you realize how close you'd become to his lips. So... decadent, practically begging to be chewed-
"Where do you dwell?" He asks. You shake your head lightly, repositioning to sit on his leg to better reach the other wing.
"I'm from... a few places." You settle on, and he shakes his head slowly.
"So mysterious. A pretty, dark-tailed lady comes to my rescue, and won't even tell me where she's from?" You blush, his kind words to foreign to your ears. He thought you were pretty.
"Well.. uh, why thank you." You blubber. He chuckles, his straight white teeth gleaming in the setting sun. Your pupils begin to dilate.
"What would help you relax?" You ask, adjusting your position but only slipping right onto his lap. His large hands grasp your exposed waist, steadying you but not your racing heart. And... mind.
"Well, my best friend's mother used to sing to me when I was young and in need of comfort," he suggests. "Always calmed me down."
Sing. Gods, this was going horribly.
"I... can't sing." You lied. His hands held firm as you continued to work the balm across his wing, and you couldn't help but feel flustered.
"Oh, neither could Rhys' mom," he huffed a laugh. "I promise I won't judge, even if it really is bad," he shrugs, his deep eyes peering into yours.
You gulped. Maybe, if you sang with no ill-intent, you wouldn't seduce him? He wouldn't fall into your gift-given trap, as all the other males did?
"Well, singing you shall have then, Cassian." You cleared your throat, and he looked up at you with a small smile. You began your song, singing with more love and affection than hunger and desire. You could only hope he would respond well.
You hadn't realized your eyes drifted closed until the end of your tune, and you opened them slowly to look to your new companion.
"That. Was. Beautiful." His arms wrapped around your waist, his hands pulling you closer to him. You squeaked, gripping his shoulder for stability.
"No, I-"
"Y/N," he said, his voice more gravelly and low than before. "You absolutely can sing. You're a good singer." He smiled lazily. Great. Your attempt to give him the benefit of the doubt didn't work.
"Thank you," you responded, scooping the last of the salve from the tin to spread over his wings. When you went to rub it on, he moved it out of reach. Your brows knit, and you looked at him to see a playful smirk on his face.
You reached again, only for him to move back at the last second. You scowled softly, turning your attention to his face once more.
"Cassian." You warned, and he chuckled brightly at you.
"You gotta... be quicker... than me," he drawled, his hands rubbing up and down the exposed skin on your waist. You lunged for his wing, almost getting it before he reared back again.
"Cassian!" You reprimanded. "Do you want me to heal you or not?" You said sternly. He only howled, laughing and smiling happily while looking up at you.
"Ahh, Y/N," he sighed. "You're cute when you're angry."
You rolled your eyes, but the blush in your cheeks told a different story. His fingers trailed up, brushing against the skin of your shoulders as he looked longingly, lustfully at you.
"You know... actually, we would make a really cute couple," he chuckled again, and you shook your head at his nonsense as you attempted to move from his lap. His rather... hardening, lap.
This was not good.
"Cassian, come on, let's get you into the shade so you can sleep this off, okay?" You said kindly. His fingers traced along your jawline, brushing a piece of damp hair behind your ear.
"I will... if you admit you're a good singer." He smiles cheekily.
You groan. "Ughhh, Cassian, please, will you just shut up and-"
"Kiss me already." He whispers, his gaze fully entranced on you. His pulse was prevalent, his neck vein throbbing as he leaned closer. He looked so damn delicious, you could almost take a bite-
You gently caress his face, pressing his lips to yours. Your insides knot, the hungry feeling rising as he moves his lips against yours. You almost break when his tongue slides against your bottom lip, but keep it together enough to pull away. His pupils are almost as blown wide as yours.
"Y/N-" he groans.
"We need to get you to the shade," you insist.
"I wanna kiss you again," he whines. A small smile plays on your lips at his words.
"Soon," you say, kissing his temple.
As soon as you sleep this spell off, anyway.

Kaikeyi || Vaishnavi Patel || 478 pages Top 3 Genres: Fantasy / Mythology / Historical Fiction
Synopsis: “I was born on the full moon under an auspicious constellation, the holiest of positions—much good it did me.”
So begins Kaikeyi’s story. The only daughter of the kingdom of Kekaya, she is raised on tales about the might and benevolence of the gods: how they churned the vast ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality, how they vanquish evil and ensure the land of Bharat prospers, and how they offer powerful boons to the worthy. Yet she watches as her father unceremoniously banishes her mother, listens as her own worth is reduced to the marriage alliance she can secure. And when she calls upon the gods for help, they never seem to hear.
Desperate for independence, she turns to the texts she once read with her mother and discovers a magic that is hers alone. With it, Kaikeyi transforms herself from an overlooked princess into a warrior, diplomat, and most favored queen.
But as the evil from her childhood stories threatens the cosmic order, the path she has forged clashes with the destiny the gods have chosen for her family. And Kaikeyi must decide if resistance is worth the destruction it will wreak—and what legacy she intends to leave behind.

3ba - let's get out of here
(part of "my princess (choose your own adventure)") no cws wc: 478
Tumblr media
“You know? That doesn’t seem like a bad idea.” You nodded, meeting your gaze with his. “Let’s do it.”
You saw that Kyle had a grin on his face as he took out some cash and leaned over to the coachman to whisper something, likely to bring you two to the creek and to not tell your parents as well. A few words you couldn’t make out were exchanged, and suddenly, the direction of the carriage was completely shifted.
You felt Kyle wrap his arm around you, and you could tell he was trying to do it subtly as possible as well. You played along. You enjoyed it anyway as you rested your head on his outstretched arm.
Around ten minutes later, you arrive at the creek. Only the moon lit the path up, so Kyle struck an oil lamp alive.
There were rocks of all sizes. Larger sediments flew through the river while boulders stood their ground at the pull of the water. The river reflected the shining of the moon as it pooled to a cliff, forming a waterfall by the end. The ground smelled damp, like the fresh scent of an after-pour. Cicadas buzzed, and winds blew in the distance.
Whatever you and Kyle were wearing was near sure to be muddied up once you returned back home. You’ll worry about that later instead. For now, you two were cozied up on a log, enjoying the scene before you.
“So why did you and your dad go here often anyway?” You asked, looking off in the distance.
“Well, he, Ike, and I would venture out nearby the kingdom. This specific place just so happened to be one of Ike and I’s favorite places to adventure.”
“What would you guys do?” You hummed, resting your head on Kyle’s shoulder.
“Swim, build dams, skip rocks, search for wildlife, and catch fish but immediately let them go out of shock.” He laughed.
“Have you ever visited the place at night?”
“Not really. Dad was scared to take care of two very energetic children in the dark. Besides, bedtime used to be at 9 PM.”
“You’re smart for thinking up a place like this. Honestly, I kind of dreaded going to the ball.” You chuckled, lifting yourself off of him as you turned to look at him.
“Thank you. It is quite beautiful, isn’t it?” He said, turning to you as well.
“Yeah…” Though you didn’t mean it, your voice came out as a whisper.
You felt your bodies slowly move closer to each other like magnets. For a split second, Kyle’s eyes flickered to your mouth as both of you came to a halt like he was asking for permission. Your faces were mere inches from each other. You answered his unspoken question, bringing yourself closer to him as you sealed the gap.
(You unlocked the true ending!)

20 Questions for Fic Writers
"Tagged" in @kindlystrawberry's open invitation (who is one of my favorite fic writer ever, seriously PLEASE check her stuff out!) and using this as an excuse to ramble :p
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
66!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
192,170 since 2020!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
A little bit of everything! The top couple that pop up on my profile are Craig of the Creek (21), Project Sekai (14), Rise of the TMNT (5), and Kid Cosmic (5). But honestly? Whatever I'm into at the moment has a good chance at getting a fic. (My notes app is nothing but draft ideas.)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Sure As Sun Turns to Moon (I'll be With You) (FNAF) - 1,697
I Can't Lose You Again (ROTTMNT) - 847
Another Danganronpa Chatfic >:3c (Danganronpa) - 478
Wish We Could Turn Back Time (Don't Hug Me I'm Scared) - 430
Five Times Casey Moved to a New Cave and One Time that He Moved into a New House (ROTTMNT) - 421
So one of these is not like the others lol. I can explain though. So, top down:
SASTTM got published when Security Breach was super popular and tapped into the public outcry for Freddy being Gregory's dad. It's been sitting unfinished for over a year now at 28k, but I do have plans to finish it! I've cut the draft down a lot to actually make it a feasible writing project now, but I'm not going to publish anymore chapters until it's done. I want to finish it properly because this fic helped me grow so much as a writer and it means a lot to me.
I Can't Lose You Again will get touched on later on, as well as Wish We Could Turn Back Time.
Five Time Casey Moved was a fic that I wrote in a haze after watching season one of ROTTMNT and then the movie. It was published the day after the movie came out iirc and has a really special place in my heart for several reasons <3
And then the chatfic.
I got my fandom start in Danganonpa and in middle school, chatfics are the funniest, coolest things ever. So once I decided to start writing, obviously I had to do my own. It has aged horribly, is horribly written, and honestly should be deleted and never see the light of day again. Or at least be orphaned. But I made myself a promise to never delete my old fics unless they were actually horrific because you know what? Everyone starts somewhere. So it's still up. And one day it will get dethroned from the top kudos list and I will throw a party <3
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I usually respond!! It makes me so giddy to receive even the shortest comments, and I always try to pass on that good feeling <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
So out of my published fics its I’d Make a Deal with God (I’d Get Him to Swap Our Places) which is a ROTTMNT fic I wrote about the movie before it came out to speculate on the future. In it we see both Raph and Donnie get kranged, leaving Leo and Mikey crying in a subway. A friend actually told me to kay why you know what myself because of it (in a very much joking manner) which was SUCH a compliment!!!
Out of everything I've written? There's a half finished ROTTMNT fic in my junior year AP Lang notebook which takes place over one week and ends with Mikey dying which is... really angsty. Like worryingly angsty. It's still an interesting concept that I think could be fun to explore, but even if I do ever finish it idk if it'll see the light of day.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm really not a fan of unhappy endings, even in fics. Hurt is best served with a side of comfort in my opinion, so everything I write ends up being really light and fluffy.
Three fics come to mind as having the happiest *ending* though.
The first is Would You be so Kind (As to Fall in Love with Me?) which is a Craig of the Creek fic entirely focused on two characters realizing that they love each other and that polyamory is an option! It's super sweet and I refuse to believe it's not canon tbh.
The other two are both Project Sekai fics from Tenmay this year, The Royal Summit (Where Friendships Blossom) and Sunbound Promise. They're both fantasy aus where Tsukasa and Toya grow closer, the first being their first meeting and the second where they become brothers. They're both so sweet and self indulgent, the endings make me so happy <3 <3 <3 <3
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got one comment on SASTTM where someone was bitching about neopronouns which I think counts. But overall people have been really nice and anyone who doesn't jive with the fic just moves on lol
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope, and I don't know if I ever will. It's just not what I really want to write :p
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Occasionally! None of them have been particularly "crazy", though. I try to keep those things pretty grounded. I have a lot of crossover ideas that don't get written though :p
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but if anyone ever wants to do so you have my full permission! Just shoot me a message somewhere to let me know
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I don't know if I'd be able to either, co-plotting would be fine, I'm doing that with my sibling and a prsk magical girl fic, but writing,,, I couldn't :,)
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
There are a lot of ships I love. But for all time favorite, I have to go with the one that I keep going back to read fics for even though I've lost pretty much all other interest in the game: Promptis (Prompto/Noctis from FFXV) I just keep coming back to them.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Where to start with this list.
The main one if probably my Project Sekai fantasy au fic The Eastern Side of Bolganio. It's so special to me, but it's a majorly ambitious project and I've gotten so little response with it that it's hard to write. I'm normally pretty good about not focusing on the numbers when it comes to fics (writing for small random fandoms help, there are some fics that I'm surprised have more than two hits, much less two kudos), but the fact that it's such an ambitious project that I've barely made a dent into... idk
I really want to finish it though </3
16. What are your writing strengths?
idk, people say that my characterization is really good? I saved this one for last to answer but now I'm tired
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm going to try and not be too self deprecating lol.
I'm really bad at describing environments/movement and dialogue at the same time. It's always either White Room Syndrome or a clunky mess. I also suck at titles. I always try to not use song lyrics, but anything that I do always sounds horrible.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I love it when it's done well! I love it when fic authors delve into the heritage of characters and bring in elements of it. I've done it a fair couple of times and always take great care to make sure that the translations aren't too horrific.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
So the first ever fanfiction I wrote was my exceedingly angsty, take on who the other souls in Undertale were before they died.
HOWEVER, I consider the first *fandom* I wrote for to be either Percy Jackson or Danganronpa. My first actual attempt at writing a fanfiction was a Solangelo prompt which I wrote two sentences of before abandoning and the first time I tried to write canon characters in situations, doing things, was it that damned chatfic XD
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ouuuugh we're just going with a list here
I Can't Lose You Again - I told you these would show back up again. Anyways, writing this fic was so fun. I really felt like I knew what I was doing, and apparently I did based off the comments! It's so special to me <3
Wish We Could Turn Back Time - This is my Roman Empire. I haven't updated this fic in years but I think about it everyday. I'm working on cleaning up the outline to be less ambitious so I actually have a chance to finish writing the thing, and I can't wait to finally give it the ending it deserves! It's also actually shaped my life in so many ways <3
After The Dinner Horn and Offscreen; a CotC oneshot collection - Maybe putting a oneshot collection here is cheating but shhhh. This actually is an umbrella title for almost all of my cotc fics (especially on platforms where I can't be bothered to upload them individually unless they're multichaptered). So many of these fics either shaped me as a writer drastically or mean so much to me on a personal level it's WILD. And also a reflection on how much the show means to me I guess? Idk that's enough psychoanalyzing for today.
Coercion Cancellation - This one might be cheating because it's the one I'm currently working on, but shhhhh. It still counts. It's for an indie horror game called Imaginary Friend Asylum ((prequel to The Friends We Left Behind)) which you should check out
Also adding on the two Project Sekai fics from question seven about the happiest ending. They're just so, so self indulgent <3
Tags: I don't have the guts (nor memory) to tag anyone on here, so it's fully an open invite! Hop on over here and ramble your heart out about the things you've written!! I can't wait to read it!!!

word count: 3.8k

FIRST CHAPTER, Embers of a Fallen Legacy
📍stonehearth, iris
5 years after the Battle of Ironhold that overthrow usurper, king Fritz and the year after the crown prince, Chanyeol was reinstated to take his rightful place as king.
Year 478 after the Creator was born.
THE SUN DIPPED LOW OVER THE HORIZON, casting long, somber shadows over the kingdom of Iris. Once a land of flourishing grandeur, the capital city of Stonehearth lay in a state of mourning. The remnants of the ancient city walls, crumbling and weathered, stood as silent witnesses to the chaos that had unfolded in recent years. The streets, once alive with the bustle of trade and festivity, now echoed with the hollow whispers of decline. It used to be so endearing, my father used to describe the beauty of the capital, not until the Battle of Ironhold took place.
From the vantage point of the castle of Ironhold, the view was both majestic and melancholic. The towering spires, though still impressive, bore the scars of neglect. The iron gates and stone battlements, though still formidable, spoke of battles fought and lost. Even now, with the sun setting, the city seemed to exhale a sigh of resignation, its people still reeling from the upheavals that had plagued them.
Yet, even amidst this backdrop of ruin and hope, the tale of Moonreach was the one that weighed heaviest on my heart.
Five years ago, the estate of House Greenwell, Moonreach, stood as a symbol of pride and stability in Skybound. Its grand spires and sweeping courtyards, nestled in the northern reaches of Iris, were a testament to the enduring legacy of our family. But that was before the fire.
"You must leave this place at once, dearest. It's too unsafe here." Father murmured.
The blaze had consumed Moonreach in a single, catastrophic night. I remember the crackling of flames and the oppressive heat that seemed to reach into every corner of the castle.
"But I can't leave you here." I held his hands in a tight grasp in refusal to flee the place with me.
"Go to Asia, go to your sister. She'll protect you like she usually does." He said before I made an attempt to grab his wrist to prevent him from joining the blazing flames that enveloped the halls, if we don't make haste, soon it will be us toasted in the crisping hot sea of fire.
"Listen to me, Namra. Ser Gareth, see to it that the Lady Namra is escorted to Eldoria to her sister." He ordered. Ser Gareth nodded in approval with no signs of opposing to his orders.
"Namra, in the moon's shadow, we stand strong." Then Ser Gareth carried me and I remembered the image of him standing there and the fire swallowing him alive. My father was killed by his honor and duty, and as his heir, he decided that Skybound would only be saved if I was alive.
The inferno had swallowed up memories and history alike, leaving behind nothing but smoldering ruins and a profound sense of loss. The fire was not merely an accident; it was an act of violence—a deliberate assault against everything my family had worked to build.
As the only remaining member of House Greenwell, the responsibility to restore Moonreach fell squarely on my shoulders. The once-proud castle now lay in ashes, and I, Namra Greenwell, was left with the monumental task of rebuilding not just the physical structure, but also the legacy it represented.
With Moonreach reduced to ruins, my next course of action was clear. My sister, Lady Asia Silverhades, was now married to Lord Roderick of Eldoria—a land known for its rich cultural heritage and formidable warrior code. Asia’s position and her connection to Eldoria offered a glimmer of hope. Eldoria’s resources and political influence could be the key to our mission.
The journey to Eldoria was long and fraught with challenges. The road stretched out before us, winding through the rugged terrain of Iris. As my sister’s carriage approached the gates of Eldoria, I could feel a mixture of relief and trepidation. Asia’s presence here was a vital piece of our plan, but I couldn’t shake the apprehension about the negotiations that lay ahead.
On my way to Eldoria, the image still printed in my mind of my father's passing as he was enveloped by the heat of the flames that caused him his death. I had every reason that the fire that happened was not just an accident, and it made me certain that there was more than what to see from above.
Eldoria welcomed us with open arms and a sense of vibrant life that was a stark contrast to the desolation we had left behind. The people of Eldoria, known for their craftsmanship and warrior spirit, greeted us warmly. Lord Roderick, a tall man with a stern yet kind demeanor, met us at the gates. His presence was reassuring, and the strength of his land seemed to breathe new life into our weary souls.
"Welcome to Eldoria, dear sister." Asia greeted with a hint of melancholy in her eyes. As we both remember the memory of our late father.
"Ser Gareth. Thank you for escorting my sister safely." Asia mumbled.
Asia and I shared a private moment in her chambers. The soft light of dusk filtered through the curtains, casting a serene glow over the room. She took my hands in hers, her eyes filled with concern and determination.
“We’ll get through this,” she said, her voice steady despite the uncertainty that lay ahead. "What father taught us go way beyond on what we are experiencing right now." Asia continued to reassure my worries.
I sighed as I still remember the moments that we both exchanged before father died, "I saw him die right before my eyes. I should have brought him here with us."
"You've known how father is. He does not want to die in the hands of his enemies, but he would prefer if he dies right there in Moonreach."
Asia held our hands together as a symbol of our solidarity in this trial, having to have loss such an important figure on both of our lives. "You are the Lady of Moonreach now, all will be well."
“With Roderick’s support and the resources of Eldoria, we have a fighting chance.”
I nodded, but my thoughts were consumed by the enormity of our task. Restoring Moonreach was only the beginning; we needed to regain our standing and secure a future for ourselves and our land.
The day finally arrived for us to travel to Stonehearth to meet the king-conqueror. As we entered the capital, the weight of our mission pressed heavily upon us. Stonehearth, though not entirely destroyed, bore the marks of the conflict that had ravaged Iris. The streets were eerily quiet, and the once-bustling markets seemed subdued, as if the city itself were holding its breath.
Ironhold, the royal castle, loomed over the city. Its imposing structure was a symbol of Chanyeol’s reclaimed power, and it was to this fortress that we journeyed.
We were ushered into the grand audience chamber of Ironhold. The room was adorned with tapestries and banners, but the grandeur of the space did little to mask the underlying tension that permeated the air. King Chanyeol, seated upon his throne, regarded us with a mixture of curiosity and guarded suspicion.
I stepped forward, my resolve hardened by the urgency of our cause. “Your Majesty,” I began, “I am Namra Greenwell, and this is my sister, Lady Asia Silverhades. We have come to seek your aid in the restoration of Moonreach.”
Chanyeol’s gaze was cool and calculating. “Moonreach,” he repeated, his tone laced with skepticism. “I’m aware of the loss your family has endured. But you must understand, the state of Iris is precarious. Resources are scarce, and the challenges we face are immense.”
His response was disheartening. Despite the gravity of our situation, Chanyeol’s demeanor was unyielding. He seemed more focused on the practicalities of his kingdom’s survival than on the restoration of a single estate. I could sense his distrust and the weight of his responsibilities bearing down upon him.
“We have come to offer a mutually beneficial arrangement,” I continued, trying to keep my voice steady. “Restoring Moonreach will not only honor my family’s legacy but also contribute to the stability of Iris. With your support, we can begin to rebuild what was lost.”
One of the council members interrupted, "Your Grace. I believe Lord Greenwell was one of the lords that refused to support your rebellion."
My jaw clenched in sheer annoyance, "Yet he didn't succumbed to the power of the usurper. My father didn't choose any side, he remained neutral, he didn't want to compromise the people of Skybound." I replied.
Chanyeol’s eyes narrowed as he considered my words. “And why should I trust that your intentions are genuine? There are many who seek to manipulate the kingdom’s plight for their own gain.”
The tension in the room was palpable. Chanyeol’s skepticism was clear, and I could feel the weight of his scrutiny. Despite my best efforts, I could sense a growing divide between us—a chasm of mistrust and uncertainty that would not easily be bridged.
"What makes you so paranoid, Your Grace? Are you so consumed by fear that you suspect every offer of aid to be a threat? Your family fell before you, and now you think everyone is out to destroy you." I challenged, and Chanyeol's smirk flattened showing proof of his weakness. His family, that died just before king Fritz ruled over the lands of Iris.
He raised his voice, "Stop it." He warned, his expression darkened. "You know nothing of what I’ve endured. The loss of my family and the threats against my life have left scars deeper than you can imagine.” His voice raised, echoing off the stone walls. “Do not presume to understand my position or question my judgment.”
No longer enduring the mix of anger and pain. “I have lost my father too, Your Grace. My family’s suffering is not less than yours.” Her voice, though still controlled, carried the weight of her own grief and frustration. “We are all trying to navigate a world that’s been torn apart, but I assure you, my intentions are to mend what’s broken, not to exploit it.”
Chanyeol’s face softened slightly at her words, but his eyes remained guarded. “If your intentions are truly honorable, then prove it. The kingdom is not a place for gestures or promises. It demands actions and results. For that we will allow you to stay here in Ironhold with the company of Lady Silverhades."
“Alright then, allow us to prove ourselves. Let Moonreach be restored, and judge us by our actions, not by the shadows of distrust that cloud your judgment.”
The room was filled with a tense silence. Chanyeol studied my eyes with a mix of wariness and reluctant admiration. “Very well. If you wish to proceed, we will discuss terms and conditions. But know this: the path to gaining my trust will not be easy.”
As Chanyeol dismissed them with a wave of his hand, Namra felt a flicker of hope amidst the lingering tension. She knew the road ahead would be fraught with challenges, but she was determined to prove her sincerity and restore Moonreach, no matter the obstacles.
"You have my word, Your Grace." I replied sternly.
"Then you have the comforts of Ironhold at your disposal."
Asia and I left the grand hall, the weight of the meeting hung heavy. The path to restoring Moonreach and earning Chanyeol’s trust would be arduous, but I was resolved to navigate the complexities and confront the challenges head-on.
Which leads us to the present day, almost a week after we have arrived here in Ironhold. The opulence of the Blooming Grounds, where Chanyeol had graciously allowed us to stay, was both a marvel and a stark contrast to the austerity of Skybound. The capital’s grandeur was undeniable, with its majestic mountain ranges surrounding the city like a protective embrace. I was still absorbing the splendor of Ironhold, a far cry from the rugged beauty of Moonreach, where Asia and I had spent countless hours gazing out from the tall tower before her engagement to Lord Roderick.
Asia’s entrance into my bedchambers jolted me from my reverie. Her expression was a mix of concern and exasperation as she approached, her steps light against the marble floors.
“You seem to be enjoying yourself for someone who’s supposed to be handling crucial affairs,” she said, her tone laced with frustration.
I looked up from my contemplation of the city below, raising an eyebrow. “And what exactly are you implying, dear sister?”
Asia’s gaze softened as she sank onto the edge of the bed, her posture weary. “A civil war has erupted. Dawnspire is in decline, people are fleeing, and the rebels have invaded Suncrest. The unrest is spreading, and it’s taking a toll on our efforts.”
She took my hands in hers, her grip firm yet comforting. “The resources we hoped to allocate for the restoration of Moonreach have been diverted to House Ambers. They’ve been the first to pledge their loyalty to Chanyeol during the rebellion, and their situation is becoming increasingly dire.”
Her words were a cold splash of reality. My blood boiled with frustration and helplessness. I stood abruptly, my mind racing with the implications of what she had just shared. The urgency of the situation demanded immediate action.
“I can’t just sit here and do nothing,” I declared, my voice sharp with determination. I moved quickly, my purpose clear, and left the bedchambers, my path set toward the council chambers where the discussions were heating up.
As I approached the council chambers, the voices of the council members grew louder, their debates growing more heated. The once serene corridors of the palace now echoed with the urgency and tension of the political crisis.
“Your Grace,” one of the council members was saying, “to ensure stability, we must prioritize supporting House Ambers. They were among the first to declare their loyalty during the rebellion. Their situation is critical, and resources must be allocated to them without delay.”
Their words only fueled my anger. I pushed open the heavy doors of the council chambers, entering with a forceful stride. The room fell silent as all eyes turned to me. Chanyeol, seated at the head of the table, looked up with a mix of surprise and annoyance.
“Your Grace,” I said, my voice cutting through the tense silence, “I must object to this decision. Moonreach is not merely a personal concern. It represents a critical asset for the stability of Iris. Diverting resources away from its restoration jeopardizes not just my family’s legacy, but the stability of the entire region.”
Chanyeol’s gaze was cold and calculating, his eyes narrowing as he assessed me. “Moonreach is important, but right now, our priority must be to stabilize the regions that are on the brink of collapse. House Ambers’ loyalty is crucial to our cause.”
His response was met with murmurs of agreement from the council members, their voices blending into a chorus of support for Chanyeol’s decision. The air crackled with tension as I struggled to maintain my composure.
“Is that what you think of loyalty?” I challenged, my voice rising with frustration. “My father remained neutral, and now, because of that, Moonreach is neglected. You’re letting politics dictate your decisions, while the actual needs of the kingdom are being ignored.”
Chanyeol’s face tightened, and he stood abruptly, his frustration evident. “You think I don’t understand the gravity of the situation? I have to make decisions based on the greater good, not personal grievances. If you cannot see that, then perhaps you are the one who is out of touch.”
The council members exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions reflecting the strain of the discussion. The room seemed to shrink under the weight of our confrontation, and I could feel the chasm widening between Chanyeol and me.
The council chambers buzzed with voices as the debate continued around me. Frustration simmered beneath my surface as I listened to the council’s dismissive attitudes and Chanyeol’s refusal to prioritize the restoration of Moonreach. The air was thick with tension, and every word seemed to drive the point of my futility deeper.
I could no longer contain my anger. The frustration I felt at the council’s disregard for Moonreach and the urgency of our situation boiled over. Without a word, I pushed my chair back and stood abruptly, my heart pounding with a mix of fury and helplessness. I strode out of the chamber, slamming the door behind me, the sound echoing down the stone corridors of Ironhold.
The cold air of the courtyard hit me like a slap to the face as I stormed outside, the night sky a dark blanket above. My anger fueled every step, and I barely noticed the guards who cast wary glances as I passed. I needed to be alone, to find some semblance of clarity away from the suffocating constraints of the council’s discussions.
The castle grounds were eerily quiet, the only sound being the distant murmur of the city. I paced restlessly, trying to calm my racing thoughts. That’s when I heard the faint whisper of footsteps behind me. My senses, sharpened by my anger, picked up on the approaching presence.
The dimly lit alley outside Ironhold felt suffocating. Shadows danced against the stone walls as I tried to regain my composure after the confrontation. The narrow passageway was eerily quiet, the clamor of the city a distant murmur. My heart raced, still pounding from the threat I had narrowly escaped.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, moving with the silent grace of a predator. I barely had time to react before a firm hand grasped my arm, pulling me away from the immediate danger. I looked up, my eyes meeting those of the person who had intervened.
The figure was cloaked, their features hidden in the folds of their hood. “You’re not safe here,” the voice was low and steady, yet it carried an authoritative edge that brooked no argument.
Confusion and gratitude warred within me. “Who are you?” I demanded, trying to peer into the shadows obscuring their face.
The figure’s grip was firm, guiding me through a series of twists and turns until we were in a more secluded area. “Not the time for questions,” the figure said tersely. “You were in danger, and I made sure you weren’t harmed. But we need to move quickly.”
As we reached a hidden alcove, the figure finally lowered their hood, revealing the unmistakable features of Joonmyun Kim, a prominent member of the court. My eyes widened in shock. “You? Why did you help me?”
Joonmyun’s expression was inscrutable, a mask of calm professionalism. “I have my reasons,” he said cryptically. “Right now, you need to understand that not everyone in the court is aligned with the loyalists. There are those who want to see you succeed, but they must operate in the shadows.”
Before I could respond, he glanced around, his gaze alert and calculating. “For now, stay hidden. I’ll see what I can do to mitigate the situation.”
Joonmyun’s unexpected intervention left me with more questions than answers. His motives remained unclear, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of a more intricate game of politics and survival.
As the sun set over Stonehearth, casting a muted glow over the city, I stood by the window of my chamber, gazing out at the streets below. Gathering my thoughts on what happened earlier, and what would have taken place if without Junmyeon's help.
But there is a much more important matter on hand, and that was the situation of the people back home. They are awaiting for my return.
“I won’t fail Moonreach,” I whispered to myself, gripping the ledge tightly. “I won’t let them down.”
The night was dark and full of shadows, and I knew that the journey ahead would be fraught with danger. But with determination and resolve, I was prepared to face whatever lay ahead. The fate of Moonreach—and perhaps even the kingdom of Iris—depended on it.

6 and 8 for tcol wordbuilding asks
thank you!!! 🥺
6. What is a common way to subtly insult someone in your world, without crossing into overt rudeness? Gifting an item with negative connotations? Addressing them more familiarly or formally than normal? Backhanded compliments?
i’ll do the one city i do know rn lol, eros.in eros, it’s definitely to imply that someone is incapable or irresponsible but being “considerate” while you do it. to kind of do the thing where you say “oh i’d ask you to do this but if it’s too much for you i can do it instead.” it’s people from other cities will see that as an act of charity or help but people from eros know that whoever said that to you is implying that you’re weak and one of the greatest failings to someone in eros is to be considered weak.
8. Is there a place in your world that nobody has ever been to - the bottom of a cave, the moon, another dimension, etc.? How do people know it exists? Why haven’t they gone there? What do they believe it’s like, and how right/wrong are they?
oof so i want to say Argos—however i forgot about dark hunters. so i suppose Argos with an asterisk. Argos was the first capital of Terrae back when the land was first created and cultivated, however it was unknowingly on a hotbed of chaos energy (tm). this came to a head in the year 478 when the city was completely overrun with monsters and beasts and ever since The Labyrinth was created, an essential force field has been created around the city—keeping beasts and monsters IN. it is however, semipermeable (idk if that’s the best way to put it), technically speaking Terraneans can go into Argos. but like. if one were to think The Labyrinth is bad (which, it is) then Argos is 100x worse. It’s pretty much doomsday in there, which is why most people don’t go. THE EXCEPTION is dark hunters bc their entire purpose is to fight against this evil in Argos but usually it comes at a cost of their sanity since they’re using the magic tenom. which is no bueno unless you’re certain people which i will put under the cut LMAO.
