sungho is another one who tries veryyy hard to keep his cool. he’s actually super sensitive about his and your feelings, which makes him attentive to your every move, but he feels so embarrassed ogling at you 24/7, so he mainly tries to find any kind of distraction to keep himself off of you. It’s hardest for him to keep it in when he hasn’t seen you in a while though, he’ll do his best but trust his hugs will be tighter and his kisses just a bit more feverish.

IT WAS HIGH SCHOOL WHEN YOU RUINED TAESAN'S LIFE FOREVER.

To be more specific, it was during your last year of high school when he realized that there was simply no way he was ever going to win you over. Not now, and certainly not ever.

Because here’s the thing: Taesan was not a bad-looking guy, he’s far from it, actually. In fact, he had enough business cards from agency recruiters that could fit a whole shoe box, so his looks clearly were never the problem here. Was it his personality, then? Probably not that, either. He was pretty chill most of the time, and he had never really acted up around anyone unless it truly called for it. He always made sure that he wasn’t making a fool out of himself around you, and there were never really incidents that could have painted him in a bad light in your eyes. He had decent grades, so he wasn’t stupid either, which was one of your major turn-offs. And he was sporty—he participated in the school’s soccer team, and he even had a bunch of fans giggling over him whenever he so much as passed them by while chasing after the ball, so his popularity was pretty decent too.

Was he simply not… your type? But that couldn’t be—you were always making heart eyes at Park Sunghoon who was two grades above, and he was told all the time that he was basically a lookalike of the guy! Not to mention you were always at Jung Sungchan’s games, cheering his name even when the guy was literally being benched. Taesan never got benched. He was the star player of his soccer team. You fawned over Park Wonbin when he performed at the school’s talent show, but Taesan could also sing and play the electric guitar just as well. You squealed over Lee Sohee because he was sooo cute! but Taesan knew how to get real fucking adorable, too! He practically had all of their qualities combined into one, and not once did you ever look back at him. 

And that’s when it hit him. 

It was prom that night, and he was off at the corner drinking from a cup of water instead of jumping along with the fray and bouncing up and down to some Drake song when his friend, Kim Leehan, approached him. 

“I’m not slow-dancing with you, Leehan,” he muttered, taking another sip of his bland water. “Piss off.”

Leehan raised his arms in response, smiling in a way that was just so Leehan-like of him. “Woah, woah, I get it. Someone pissed in your cup, or something? Literally and figuratively,” he laughed, leaning against the wall next to him. “Lighten up for once, ‘san. It’s your first and last prom, you know?” 

Taesan only grunted in return. 

“Look at you; so emo tonight,” Leehan said, defeated. He followed the other’s gaze towards the dance floor, where everyone is packed together like a can of sardines. “But you’re always so normal around Y/N.” 

Taesan paused.

Leehan laughed again. “Hm, maybe not?” 

Sometimes, it was both a blessing and a curse to be friends with someone like Kim Leehan. 

“Stop talking about things you already know,” Taesan murmured, chucking the water cup into the trash can a few meters away. He placed his hands inside his pockets, looking straight ahead amidst the dizzying lights and the dispersed crowd now that a slow song started playing.

“Why don’t you go ask her for a dance?” Leehan suggested, signaling towards the dance floor. 

“She’s literally holding hands with Yang Jungwon right now,” Taesan deadpanned. “Are you kidding me? How’d she get him of all people as her prom date?” 

Scoring the smartest and the most popular student in your school has got to be the biggest flex of your high school career. Taesan had almost no complaints except for the fact that Yang Jungwon was your date instead of—him! Any moment now and he’d be losing his mind. Actually, scratch that, he probably already was. 

Leehan hummed. 

“Do you think,” he began, slowly, darting his line of sight between you who’s giggling at something Yang Jungwon said, before turning back to Taesan, the angstiest kid he’s ever known. “That, maybe, if you had just asked her out to prom with you… then maybe she’d have said yes?” 

Finally, the gears inside Taesan’s head started to turn. Leehan smiled at the sight.

Taesan quickly scoffed. “No way,” he denied, crossing his arms. “Why would she go with me when she’s got Yang Jungwon as her date? It’d only happen in my dreams.” 

He figured it out anyway. It wasn’t because he wasn’t as handsome as Park Sunghoon, or as sporty as Jung Sungchan, or as musically talented as Park Wonbin (though he’d beg to differ), or as cute as Lee Sohee. Heck, it wasn’t even because he wasn’t as smart or as popular as Yang Jungwon. 

Maybe it was never because of those things that made you look at them instead of him. 

Maybe you were just never interested in him at all. 

And Taesan will have no other choice but to live with that fact forever. 

Leehan’s smile dropped, and he peeled himself away from the wall. Just as he was about to leave, he stopped for a second just to say: “You’re so—stubborn.” 

Taesan looked at him indignantly. “...What’s that supposed to mean?” 

Leehan shrugged, finally walking away. “You tell me, dude.” 

And then he was gone, rushing off to join the rest of their friends while Taesan stayed in the back, alone and miserable all because of his newfound epiphany. Though he supposed he was already miserable the moment you entered the venue with Yang Jungwon right beside you. 

It was a time of new beginnings for Taesan; a time to finally move on from you. 

Though, if only it was that easy.

Two weeks later, when you were working on a final project with him, you unexpectedly dropped the news that you and Jungwon have broken up. Because Jungwon was going to some Ivy League, and you were decidedly… not. You couldn’t handle the thought of being long-distance, so you decided to just cut things off with him since it can’t be helped, you know? And then you proceeded to laugh it off with that huge, idiotic smile of yours before continuing on with the project. Taesan didn’t know what was so funny.

Eventually, he had to share his water with you when you started sobbing hysterically inside of the library, hiccuping and all. 

He admittedly felt awful seeing you cry over Yang Jungwon, your high school boyfriend of probably only two months, but most importantly, he felt awful because of the relief that suddenly washed over him. 

…And what did that make Taesan?

So, really, maybe it was for the better that you would never look at Taesan the way he wished you would. That no matter how many times he has lent you an ear to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, you never bothered to stop for a moment and think that hey, maybe this guy likes me to some capacity, and maybe I should give him a chance. Because what kind of friend is he to feel relieved at the fact that you had gotten dumped by your boyfriend? That when your heart was broken, he could only rejoice at the fact that he now has a higher chance of getting with you once again even when it is so clear that he never once did? 

How could he sit next to you and think such thoughts? 

And yet, even when you keep jumping from one person to another, falling for someone, crying over another—Taesan will always be there for you when it all comes crashing down. A friend to cheer you on, to lift you up, to steady you—because that’s all he’ll ever be to you. 

Han Taesan was only seventeen years old when you ruined his life.

“woonhak!” you yelled from your seat on the sofa to your boyfriend, who was, as per usual, playing games. his headphones blasted with the voices of his friends, and you knew that just calling him just once wouldn’t make a difference. “woon.” you walked up behind him, rapidly tapping him on the shoulder. finally, he turned his head around, sliding one side of his headset behind his ear. “hm?” his face was innocent and sweet, very unlike how he was acting just moments before. “can i use your phone? mine just died.” promptly shoving your phone's blank screen in front of woonhak’s face. “yeah, sure, baby. it’s on the table over there.” he smiled before pointing at the coffee table in the middle of your apartment. “thanks.” you kissed him on the cheek before scurrying to take his phone and charge yours.

“you were on my notes app?” he would never believe you. about how it wasn’t your intention to invade his privacy and be checking through his apps unbeknowingly to him. for all you knew, he could just break up with you on the spot.

“i’m sorry, woonhak. i really was watching videos, but i got bored and went through your apps and—” he cut you off. “how much did you read?” he didn’t seem to care that you were going through his apps, it felt more like he cared about his dignity. “i mean, i didn’t finish reading it since you took it… but until the part where you said ‘y/n likes sunsets. i like them too because she looks extra beautiful when it shines on her face.’ but that’s about it.” you recalled his exact words, memorising it like a script.

you turned to him with a knowing smirk. “are you okay?” he doesn’t even look up. “…yeah? why?” you narrow your eyes. “you keep staring at me, sung.” he scoffs immediately, sitting up straighter like it's the most ridiculous thing he’s ever heard. “no, I’m not.”

you gasp dramatically, covering your mouth with your hand. “what was that?” he groans, finally giving up and dropping his head onto your shoulder in defeat. “i said maybe! just leave me alone…”

sungho mumbles something unintelligible against your hoodie, but the way he clings onto you just a little tighter tells you everything you need to know.

riwoo tries so hard to act cool, but the second you so much as glance at him, his ears turn red and he has to look away like you just blinded him. he’ll pretend he’s not paying attention, but he’s always stealing glances, listening to every word you say, and noticing every little thing about you. If you compliment him, he’ll go completely silent — not because he doesn’t care, but because he’s too busy processing the fact that you actually said that. he acts unbothered, but the moment you touch him, he freezes like he just got hit by lightning. he denies being down bad with his WHOLE CHEST, but his actions really say otherwise. and even though he’d never admit it, he’d do anything for you; bringing you food when you forget to eat, giving you his hoodie without question, showing up the second you need him, all while acting like it’s no big deal. the moment you walk away? he’s replaying everything in his head. hes hopelessly in love.

you had the worst day ever. everything went wrong, and by the time you get to your house, you’re exhausted and barely holding it together. you plop onto the couch with a sigh. riwoo, who was lying on the floor, minding his own business, glanced up. he noticed immediately: something’s off.

“what’s wrong with you?”* he asks, voice casual, but you can tell he’s actually paying attention. you shake your head. ”just a long day. i’m fine, ri.” riwoo doesn’t respond. he just sits up, staring at you for a moment, then abruptly stands and walks out of the room.

minutes later, he comes back. in his hands? your favorite snacks. he tosses them onto your lap without even looking at you. ”here.” you blink in surprise. “did you go and buy these?” riwoo shrugs, flopping back onto the floor like it’s no big deal. “i was going out anyway.” but you knew he wasn’t telling the truth. “no you weren’t. you literally had your phone charger plugged in like… two minutes ago.” he pauses “so what? i wanted some air.” you stare at him, trying to fight back a smile. ”you totally did this for me.”

he tried to hide his face with hiss phone, but he had no luck, you already knew he was blushing. you giggle, leaning down to him. “you’re such a cutie, riwoo.”

౨ৎ JAEHYUN

hes so clingy and annoying with you. jaehyun is already so in love with his members, it's even worse with you. he'll do anything and everything for you. you text him about craving something? he's at your door with it. you don't have enough money for something? he already sent double the amount you need. he’s the definition of “if you're happy, i’m happy.”

it was odd. jaehyun never left you on read, especially when you asked for something. your lip tint was important, to you, at least. you used it everyday and basically couldn’t leave the house without it, and jaehyun knew this. what had happened to being jaehyuns goddess who he’d do anything for?

you sat on your sofa, awaiting your boyfriend's response when a pattern of knocks came from the door. you opened it up to jaehyun holding your lip tint in one hand and flowers in the other. “i saw a flower shop on the way here.” he said, explaining the random bouquet. “thanks, jae.” you smiled, taking him into your arms. “i thought you weren’t coming.” you mumbled into his ear. “what? why would you doubt me? you know i love you.” he gigged. “you left me on read…” you pouted, holding his face in your hands. you watched as his cheeks grew pink. now that was the jaehyun you knew; helplessly in love with you.

౨ৎ TAESAN

taesan would be the type to get completely whipped. he would stare at you all the time without even realizing it, then get flustered if you caught him. he would be the type to reply in literal seconds but pretend he wasn’t waiting for your message. if you ever tease him about how much he loves you, hes trying his best to act all nonchalant like it's nothing.

you were trying to focus on your work, setting your phone on do not disturb so it wouldn’t ring every time, but despite your attempts, your phone would still vibrate. instead of your eyes being glued to your computer screen, it was staring at our phone who wouldn’t stop buzzing against your desk. you finally gave in, needing to stop the constant, and annoying, buzzing.

once you picked up your phone, you realized that it was taesan.

“i miss you” his texts filled up half of your screen. it hadn’t been long since you and taesan were talking. in fact, you two were in the same room.

but saying you needed to finish your work wasn’t an excuse to taesan. he had to take matters into his own hands.

just a minute after putting your phone down, you felt a pair of hands wrap around your shoulders. “seriously, taesan. i have to focus.” you sighed, turning around to meet him with a serious face. “you're focusing on the wrong thing, y/n. you’re supposed to focus on your boyfriend, me!” he pouted, tightening his hold on you. “fine, but only five minutes, okay?” taesan smiled, he knew you’d be together for much more than just five minutes. he knew you couldn’t say no to him.

౨ৎ LEEHAN

leehan’s the type to look at you with heart eyes 24/7 and not even try to hide it, ESPECIALLY since he has doe eyes. you could be doing nothing, and he’d still be staring at you like you hung the stars in the sky. if you ever questioned why he was looking at you like that, he’d just shrug and say it’s “because you’re pretty.” he definitely carries your stuff, and holds doors open for you; all that gentlemanly-boyfriend-behavior. he’s always finding excuses to touch you, whether it be a hand on your waist, or playing with your fingers.

“he’s been brainwashed or something… he's completely obsessed with y/n.” sungho said, glancing at leehan who was staring straight at you, watching as you watched your favourite show. “he’s not even watching the show, he’s watching y/n.”

leehan didn’t care about what the members said, he was proud to be so smitten with you.

ping! your show was interrupted by a notification.

you turned your head to the side and was face to face with leehan who was staring right back at you.

“leehan? are you… okay?” you waved your hand in front of his face, attempting to bring him back from his trance, which was, unbeknown to you, was you yourself.

he blinked a few times before his cheeks started glowing pink — he was clearly flustered.

“what’re you staring at me for?” you raised an eyebrow at him. “you’re so pretty.” he cupped your face in his hands and bought his lips to your, softly kissing you. you didn’t mind the fact that the members were probably watching, and judging. and they were.

“they are so disgusting… kissing in front of everyone.” taesan rolled his eyes.

“its okay taesan, we all know you want a relationship like theirs.” jaehyun giggled, getting a punch to the shoulder as a response.

woonhak is so obvious about it. but he’s ALWAYS trying to hide how much he’s obsessed with you (but he's not very good at it). the moment you walk into a room, his whole mood shifts — he’s either lighting up like a human golden retriever or getting all shy and giggly for no reason. the members would never let him live it down because he’d literally drop EVERYTHING just to answer your texts. he’s 100% the type to be super clingy but in a playful way. he’d tease you nonstop, but the second you tease him back? he’s stuttering, and hiding his face. you tell him he looks good today? he’s blushing. you call him cute? he’s twirling his hair and kicking his feet.

“woonhak?” you called out for him, though he was nowhere to be seen. “woon?” you got up out of your seat and stuck your head out of the door. then you saw him, peacefully sleeping on the couch. you giggled at the sight — his hair was ruffled, his long limbs were slowly falling off the side of the couch, and his phone was laying on his stomach.

you walked to your boyfriend, shaking him to wake him up. “woonhak… wake up.” you laughed at his struggle to fully open his eyes. “hmm?” you brushed his hair out of his eyes. “sorry, i fell asleep.” he apologised, followed by a yawn. “you look cute.” you gave him a peck on the cheek, getting you a shocked woonhak in response. “seriously, you have to stop doing that without telling me…” despite woonhak covering his face with a pillow, you could tell he was blushing. “are you blushing?” you asked, even though you were sure he was. “i’m not!” he muffled, pillow still on his face.

you took him into your arms, aggressively kissing his head as he tried to fight it. “i know you like it, woonhak, it’s okay.” you patted him on the head, still holding him in your arms. “whatever…”
