The drizzle hits your body as you sit quietly in the backyard of your house. The rain increases lightly as you let it soak your clothes not caring a lot anyway. To be out at two in the night in the dark wasn’t something you would usually do but you knew your house is well-guarded.

With university looming around the corner you feel the reality slowly come back. One gap year and it was useless. You are supposed to be the talented child of the family. The one that excelled in everything, and you were, you were that child. Until you weren’t anymore.

“Hey loser, why are you out in the rain?” a whisper sends you out of your trance and you thank everything in the universe for not shrieking as you see the similar puppy-eyes over your fence.

“Myung Jaehyun are you out of your mind?” you whisper-shout all worries leaving your mind for a moment as it focuses on the boy half-hanging in between his and your house fences.

“Only for you baby,” he winks making you roll your eyes. Your neighbour and best friend who is currently hanging on a fence, soaking in rain and can only see a bit in the distant street light can apparently still make time to flirt.

“Would you shut up and get lost? Why are you even here at this time of the night?” You retort, quite panicked at the fact that if he jumps on either side he will be hurt. Not to mention the noise will be a lot and both of your parents will wake up. He signals you towards him making you reluctantly walk towards him cringing at the sound your shoes are making on the wet ground.

“Okay, now when I jump you will hold me!” Jaehyun proposes, ignoring your question, making you stop in your tracks and deadpan, “Absolutely not! We will both fall.” Jaehyun ignores you purposely not even letting you complete the sentence saying, “Think fast!”

“What?” you panic but he is already jumping down as you frantically try to hold him. As soon as his feet hit the ground you slip and fall but he holds you quickly, securing his arm around your waist. A smirk appears on his face as soon as he holds you from falling and he says, “See you didn’t fall on the ground,” a beat of silence passes as you stare at him, hyper-aware of the proximity before he adds, “You just fell for me!”

“For fuck’s sake,” you murmur under your breath, pushing yourself off him as he silently giggles. You sit down on the back-stairs again but Jaehyun pushes you lightly forcefully making a place for him too.

“Why are you sad?” he whispers lightly as you explain everything to him. At other times you would try to refute first, but it was the dead of the night, the rain felt cold and your sleep was catching up with you. You were tired, very tired, emotionally and physically. So you ranted everything to him, slowly finding yourself telling things you have only ever told yourself within the four walls of your room.

Your parents weren’t happy with the above ninety per cent in your annual exams, you could have tried more. You didn’t try enough. You took a gap year to do better results in the university entrance exam only to end up not getting in your desired one.

And as soon as you faced the fact you were hit with another from everyone in your family, “You didn’t try hard enough.” Your parents told you again, how you are basking in self-satisfaction of trying hard enough.

“But I did try hard,” you choke and look down adding, “Just because I didn’t get in, doesn’t mean I didn’t try hard.” You felt bad now, for being self-satisfied even, but you were. You did try. And you were happy. But now it feels like a luxury to be happy.

A tear rolls down your cheek as soon as Jaehyun takes you in his embrace. Maybe it was everything, the long night, the fact that your parents have to pay a lot of fees which could have been reduced if you had studied harder, or just the fact that not a single person believes in you.

Not a single person told you that it is okay. Not a single person told you that you did try hard enough and that it is okay to fail once.

“How many times have you failed?” Jaehyun holds you by your shoulder as a slow tear rolls down your cheek and you sniff, “This time.” Jaehyun pads your cheeks with his soaked shirt as he looks at you and softly replies, “Not even once, sure you had your downs but you made it up in the most important exam.”

Your slow sniffles get washed away as the rain hardens but Jaehyun keeps talking, “And you did not even fail this time, you weren’t in the top ranks, that isn’t failing.”

“It is just, am I selfish Jae? Am I selfish for thinking I did try enough? Am I really basking in self-satisfaction? Can’t I be happy with my results for once? I know I tried a lot,” your voice becomes smaller with each word in the sentence and his heart pangs at how sad and depressed you seem. You were the brightest and happiest person he had ever seen but now he can’t help but wonder. Is that all a mask to hide this?

“You are not selfish, at all. You can be happy, you deserve to be happy and I know you tried hard,” he speaks up, eyes roaming all over your face. Now that his eyes have adjusted to the dark he can see it all, the tear-stained face, the puffy cheeks, red eyes and swollen lips. Another pang hits his heart as he presses his hands to your cheeks and whispers, “Why are you torturing yourself like this?”

“Do you know how much money my parents have to pay for my fees now?” your lips quiver at the mere thought and all thoughts of being the useless child come back to you but Jaehyun is faster as he holds your face and makes you face him.

“Your life isn’t over, you can study, and then pay them back, I know you feel bad, but you are just starting university, I know you will make them proud one day,” Jaehyun says as you stare at him, tears blurring your eyes.

Maybe it was the high of the night, or the fact that you kept everything bottled up for so long or the fact Jaehyun’s touch felt so soft and reassuring but you found yourself liking the night for once. You could see the boy who crossed a fence in the dead of the night for you even though he was soaked and comforting you and for once you felt you were important to someone.

Someone cared for you. Not your academics and your wins.

“I like you, Jaehyun,” you blurt and cover your mouth in shock. This was definitely not how you wanted to confess, not that you had ever decided to confess anyway but Jaehyun holds your hand and presses a soft peck on your wet lips saying, “Good, I like you too.” If his heart was beating out of his ribcage he hid it really well.

Your cheeks feel warm at his loving stare and you gasp as he smiles softly and you do it too feeling a lot better than before. It was weird and sweet at the same time but you wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Trust yourself, know that you did well, and even if everyone is against you just believe in yourself, you are by your side,” he pauses, holds your hand and a moment of silence falls before he adds, “And me too. I am by your side forever too.”

“Thanks, Jae,” you sniffle making him coo in adoration and he dabs his wet sleeves under your cheeks and giggles saying, “Now no more crying and only sleeping.” You salute him mockingly making him break into a silent laugh and when you see his scrunched face under the low light that makes him look ethereal you can’t help but feel happy too.

As he gets ready to climb the fence he turns around and says, “And also remember two other things, one, this,” he presses his lips to yours and you stumble a little but kiss him back with fervour. His hands travel down, gripping your waist as he presses your body to yours and you run your hands trying to untangle his messy and wet hair. Raindrops fall down your lips, getting in your kiss and accentuating his taste and you wish you could live in that moment forever.

As you break, you take a deep breath, biting your lips slowly loving the aftertaste and a slow, giddy smile takes over his face as his voice is hoarse when he says, “And two, remember to rub the ground with your shoe, we don’t want footprints now, do we?”

when sungho has a crush on you, he would definitely be caught staring at you by the others. he’d be busy staring at you for the nth time when jaehyun waves his hand in front of him saying something silly. he’d SO get teased by the others, especially since he’s the oldest.

“hello, earth to sungho?” jaehyun asked, waving his hand in front of sungho’s face, trying to gain his attention.

sungho had been staring into space for the past ten minutes, except the “space” was you. he was completely smitten with you.

“ooh, sungho! you like y/n, don’t you?” riwoo said, a small smirk on his face.

“huh? i like y/n?” sungho stammered.

“i mean, who doesn’t know that already?” taesan asked.

“the they themself, l/n y/n.” leehan giggled, eyeing sungho.

“be quiet! they’re gonna hear you guys.” sungho pouted, resting his elbows on the table as he continued his staring session.

you caught his stare, the way his lips were slightly pouting, his eyes, glazed with love. you smiled and gave him a wave, making his come back to his senses, and wave back. this would never leave his mind until the next small interaction you two would have.

he’d probably recall all your interactions from the day at night and fall asleep thinking about them. i feel like he’d be so cute but sulky and vulnerable with the members when he likes someone. (can you tell i see sungho as a big baby)

when riwoo likes someone, i think he’d get snacks and desserts for them and share food with them!! the others would catch on easily too, with the way riwoo would look at his crush with such heart filled eyes. the members would tease him about it, asking him for some of his food or asking him to get them snacks like he does for you, but you don’t have to ask because you’re y/n.

“y/n! i got you some desserts.” he smiled at you, passing you the box that was adorned with hearts.

“awh, thank you, ri!” you thanked him, looking at him with genuine thankfulness.

“well, i’ve gotta go, the guys wanted to hangout… text me when you get back, okay?” he asked, his bright eyes lingering on you for too long. why did it make you feel so loved?

“of course, ri. i’ll see you tomorrow.” you got up from your seat, holding him in your embrace. when you let go of him, his face was a tint of red.

when riwoo got to his friends place, he found out that they had been watching him since he was with you, acting out the whole interaction you two had, teasing him about how hard he was blushing.

i just think he’d be so cute and happy all the time, especially with you.

when jaehyun has a crush on someone, he’d be so flirtatious towards them. he’s such a clingy and loves-personal-touch sort of person and would pout at them whenever something he didn’t like happens. jaehyun’s someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, i think his feelings are easily read through his expressions and that the members would definitely be able to tell when he likes someone! ><

you and jaehyun decided to go to the library to do a catch up study session, but, it seems like jaehyun couldn’t keep studying, his brain constantly drifting to the thought of somehow bothering you.

“jaehyun, don’t distract me! i’m trying to study.” you sulked.

“but i’m bored… can’t you study any other day?” jaehyun whined back.

you put your pen down, looking him in the eye. putting your pen down clearly was not working, because by the next second you gave in, immediately scooting closer to him to watch videos together. he coerced you into doing fun yet simple activities with him, using his puppy eyes all the time, you really couldn’t resist his puppy-like charisma.

what you didn't know was that jaehyun's friends were watching you two behind a bookshelf, eavesdropping on every single conversation and move.

i think he would love texting you or anything to do with you. he’s the type of guy who would be tired all day then see you and have a burst of energy, or just hug you all of a sudden and say that he needed a recharge. he just gives off such puppy energy!!

౨ৎ TAESAN

he’d love writing music for/about them and playing music for them ESPECIALLY when they can’t sleep. i think his personality would change to a cuter, clingy version, and DEFINITELY a speaking mess. in the start, he’d try to deny his feelings but after talking to the others he would realize that he really does like you. the members would tease him about his crush, even more than if it were the others since taesan is a more nonchalant person.

“tasean, look who’s over there!” jaehyun nudged taesans arm.

“shut up! i don’t want them to know i like them.” taesan said before going back to writing.

“look! you can’t even stop thinking about y/n. here you are, writing a song about them, but you don’t want to talk to them?” jaehyun sighed.

“you seem so sad, taesan. go talk to them already.” riwoo shook taesans shoulders to express his urge.

“fine!” taesan closed his book and walked to you.

he would talk about his silly interests with you and get you a bunch of little trinkets and keychains of all sorts. he’d somehow relate everything to you and name a fish after you. he would find a picture of two aliens and say that it’s you and him and crack goofy jokes with you. i don’t think the members would know until he straight up tells them like it’s something they should’ve known.

“leehan, you’re kinda… zoning out? what’re you even looking at…” taesan asked, looking around to find anything out of the ordinary.

“y/n, i’m looking at y/n,” he smiled just at the sound of your name. “i like y/n, didn’t you guys know?”

“you like y/n? like l/n y/n?” jaehyun stood still, mouth wide open.

“mhm, how did you all not notice? i thought it was obvious.” he said, while getting up to talk to you.

“and there he goes, so easily.” sungho sighed.

“hi, pretty.” leehan giggled.

“me?” you smiled, watching as leehan nodded. “hi, handsome.” you chuckled back.

“you think i’m handsome?”

“yeah. i really like you, i’m serious.” he said with a straight face.

you could hear his friends asking what that was about, probably based on your shocked reaction.

“i just told her i like her.” he said as if it was something simple.

he’d treat his crush on you like it’s nothing but he’d do small little acts that would really warm your heart. i think he’d send you a bunch of videos and memes that he thinks resembles you or you and him. he’s my little alien i love him so much

he’s a mix of jaehyun and sungho. his cute, clingy and baby attitude would come out when he has a crush on someone. he would love going on little dates and getting cute matching items and couple items even though you two aren’t together. i think he’d especially like getting couple jewelry for you two. the members would tease him like it’s the end of the world, like sungho, because of his age. i could see them saying something like “our baby is growing up so quickly.” if they haven’t already.

“y/n, hurry! i wanna go buy matching keychains.” he said, being dragged as he held your hand.

“hak, we have so many matching keychains! basically all the keychains on my bag are the ones we bought together.” you resisted his need to buy another keychain.

“please? i saw one of two bears with a heart on their cheek, it’s just like us.” he pouted.

“woonhak…” the barrier of resistance slowly falling down.

“just one more!” he rubbed his hands together, begging you like a puppy begging for a treat.

“fine! but it’s on you.” you jokingly rolled your eyes.

“if i pay, you give me a kiss.” he grinned.

“i’d do it for free.” you smiled, moving your face closer to his, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. which left him frozen, mouth slightly open in shock.

he’s the type of guy to want a kiss or a hug and then get shocked when he gets it. again, more puppy energy.

"you're so," lips press against taesan's, making him gasp "cute!" you exclaim. he just stood there in complete shock, trying to process what just happened. you giggle to yourself before going back onto your phone. "the fact that you're using your phone.. after doing that the me," he pauses, giving you time to look up at him "is crazy.."

"nuh uh" you protest, making taesan burst into laughter. he snakes closer to you, now cupping your face. "uh huh," he gives you a peck on your lips, making you laugh "see, isn't that crazy?.." he retorted. "okay, fine it is crazy.."

you smile down at your phone, the summer sun warming your face. even through the screen, you can feel jaehyun’s excitement radiating. he’s always been a ball of sunshine, but summer seems to amplify it tenfold.

the elevator dings, signaling your arrival on his floor. as the doors slide open, you’re met with jaehyun practically vibrating with anticipation. he’s leaning against the wall opposite the elevator, a wide grin splitting his face as soon as his eyes land on you.

“always,” he says, already fumbling with his keys, “come on, i stocked up on ice cream and everything.”

he ushers you into the cool air of his apartment, the same scent of vanilla and something even sweeter - probably the ice cream he’s been going on about - hitting you immediately.

“you’re spoiling me,” you say, following him further into the apartment.

“only the best for my baby,” he replies, already leading you towards the living room.

the living room is a haven of comfort, with sunlight streaming through the windows and a large fan oscillating in the corner. you collapse onto the plush rug, jaehyun immediately joining you, his legs tangling with yours. he’s already digging through a bag of groceries, pulling out a carton of your favorite ice cream and a bag of colorful ice lollipops.

“you’re really the best, you know that?” you say, accepting the offered spoon with a grateful smile.

he just beams at you, already digging in his own carton.

the afternoon melts away like the ice cream you’re devouring. you talk about everything and nothing, your laughter punctuated by the whirring of the fan and the occasional slurp of a melting popsicle. at some point, you find yourself leaning against jaehyun, his arm draped lazily around your shoulders. his hair keeps falling into his eyes, and you can’t resist reaching out to brush it back.

“hold still,” you murmur, gathering the front strands into a small ponytail. he lets you, tilting his head back against the couch with a soft sigh.

“what are you doing?” he asks, amusement lacing his voice.

“fixing this mess,” you say, tugging gently on the makeshift ponytail. “there. much better.”

he turns his head to look at you, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “you think i look cute with a ponytail?”

so you let your eyes flutter closed, the warmth of jaehyun’s body and the steady rhythm of his breathing lulling you into a peaceful sleep. the summer heat might be relentless outside, but here, in the embrace of the boy you love, everything feels perfectly, blissfully cool.

earlier in your relationship you had told him about this song, your childhood nights filled the same harmony he sung to you. he’d learnt the song just for you, for nights like this one when sleeping wasn’t so easy.

most of the time you end up laughing, watching him put on every appliance in the room to set the mood right just makes you smile. checking with you on the settings, asking if you want to change the rain sounds to fire place sounds since its winter.

while laughing doesn’t help you sleep, whenever you did fall asleep you were at ease. no matter what happened in the day, you could look forward to the sleeping sessions because of the joy they brought.

at times he would go the extra length and start counting sheep out loud for the both of you, giggling together at each number when you should be sleeping.

the truth was you knew exactly how to fall asleep, you’d fall asleep in the first couple minutes, just lying down on his chest, arm around his torso, but you liked the whole drama of it all so you would let it happen.

something about having his fingers tangled up in your hair and his voice so close to your ears made sleeping such an easy task, you wonder how it was ever hard for you.

you’d fall asleep to his sweet voice, bedtime stories from your one and only. even when he’s far from you he finds a way to make it work, late night calls were he'd just take you along with him, narrating his every movement.

he knows by your soft hums through the line that it works just as well so he continues till all he can hear is your quiet snoring.

slow relaxing tunes fill your room whenever it’s bedtime. you get so close together under the sheets, cuddling as you let the music transport you to a deep slumber.

most of the time that’s all you need to fall asleep, his arms around you and sweet melodies playing from the speaker. the only downside being that it wasn’t an immediate solution to your insomnia.
