My first “successful” silicone for this #throwbackthursday This is my Dunmer Fire Destruction mage from Skyrim, circa 2014. (The first pic is heavily filtered in a feeble attempt to make it look like a screenshot from the game 😅) I say “successful” because this mask is still a mess. The sculpture is wonky, the fit is too loose, the paint is an overly airbrushy bore… and I won’t even go into the disaster that was the mold for this one. Despite all that, I still ended up with a wearable mask AND I learned so much from this experience! After my *not-quite-disastrous* first silicone mask (Moira from Fallout 3) I reached out to artists I admire to get some pro tips for making this piece. Notably, @shyailu gave me tons of pointers about how to get from sculpture to casting. @fullongeorge @andrewfreeman27 and @gagemunster endured me badgering them for technical information at the @immortalmasks booth during my first @monsterpaloozaofficial visit. Spoils of War, Underworld Subroxxa Edition: Managed to run into the homies of @uxsxonly at Son of @monsterpaloozaofficial and of course they had some heavy hitters for sale. For starters, They had Der Todes King (The Death King) which is still a movie living rent free in my head. Very jazzed to have this in my constantly growing @arrowvideo collection. Very bleak movies with an interesting premise. This limited edition box set comes with so many extras. The usual production book is accompanied by a certificate of Authenticity and a replica of the letter from the film. I also really dig the artwork for the digipak and the hard box. Next up, is this German media book of Dario Argento's classic gialli Opera. @laceyofthedead and I are of course still waiting to see if Opera gets a @arrowvideo 4K Box Set treatment.
