What are your opinion on htel ln characters?
Hmmmmm well I forgot almost most of them except the main ones like I know there’s one who yeeted herself and cracked her head open, another who is like in a catatonic state or something, a guy, some girlboss whose name I still don’t get how it’s supposed to be written (I also think she’s like a furry? She has a wolf thing going on me thinks) and also there’s this janitor guy who’s always watering flowers too he’s important I think ……that’s all I remember for side characters 😭😭😭😭
As for characters I do remember we have Tobi ofc I like that he’s an awkward littol kid who doesn’t wanna be involved with anything (same) but still get to do things bc Ryuuko forces him to LMAO. Then is Ryuuko I like her a lot! She really do be dragging Tobi around everywhere I hope when she leaves the only bad thing that happens to her is them breaking up in front of a KFC. Then there’s Seki I hate his ass but I feel as a character he’s really well made(?) bc he gives the impression of being a loving brother and when you first see him in Tokyo Ghetto you just see a guy struggling and suffering and you cant help but feel bad for him but the more you read and know about him the worse he gets he’s an iIrredeemable bastard but I like those kinda characters tbh….still hate him tho! Another character I remember is Rukana….she’s a complicated case for me bc I know she’s being manipulated (and possibly groomed) but like she’s not a good person either and she would also sell my soul for a corn chip if her beloved S-sama told her to and like she’s complicated and Idk what to feel about her…she’s the CEO of Tobi-Tobi tho. OH I FORGOT BAKU he’s stressed his kid stresses him out give him a beer he needs one. Monika is painted like a suspicious possibly bad guy I forgot most of that I can only remember clearly her asking Tobi if he liked how her uniform looked on her and Ryuuko being kinda jealous about it. I forgot InT was about Tobi having a harem
That’s all I can remember…I need to reread those novels bc I didn’t understand most of them the first time around tbh but like…reading takes time and effort and I’m dumb 😭😭😭😭 I’ll do it one day….sorry if you were expecting something with more analysis and with more explanations bestie 😔😔😔
#answered ask#also I’m in incredibly high amounts of pain I can’t think straight#so yeh I’m sorry when I reread the novels I’ll make an analysis or soemthing

What are your guy's favorite animals??
Explanations under the cut
Yellow likes ducks because one of his best friends is one (although due to… recent events, he’s beginning to second-guess that answer).
Rob likes dogs because of the Scooby-Doo reference in The Spinoffs.
Monika likes octopi because I like them and I said so.
Sayori likes axolotls because she strikes me as the kind of person who picked an obscure cute animal when she was five and stuck with it.
Sonny’s favourite animal is himself because of course it is.
Rachel likes fish because of that time Darwin helped her out.
Roy doesn’t have one, he hates everything.

Maeve offered no explanation, too busy figuring her own heart out. She felt the anger becoming subdued, replaced with a cold realization; she was the catalyst. She’s why Monika killed the girls. Even while her friend bawls in her arms, she thinks of herself. She hated that.
"All over my own stupid feelings-!" She squeezes Maeve tighter. "And the whole time I was freaking you out, bec-because you didn't feel that way, a-and-" Monika coughs. "Oh, god, Maeve, I'm so SORRY, I can't... I can't even imagine how much th-this being secret hurt you... You don't deserve to be lied to..."

So why is there such a damn passion for Sayonika?
Are we going to ignore what Monika did to Sayori leading up to her in game death? Manipulating her files, likely verbal abuse, psychological torture, things most people would go to jail/be crucified online (rightly) for?
And then there's all the Monika love and the excuses for her... Yeah, she's lonely and yeah, she's in love but there are better ways to go about it than fucking torturing the Club VP and deleting the other two girls.
Should we forgive AM from IHNMAIMS because he was programmed to be hateful? Should we forgive Skynet for genociding humanity as a means of self-preservation?
No, no we shouldn't. In their respective fictions, they're the clear cut villains, so why do so many people make excuses for Monika?
She needs more of a punishment than just simple deletion. She seriously got off light and when I have enough experience, I might make a mod where's she receives a proper punishment for what she did.
Also, to those who are attacking MC because of what he does to Sayori, please note the following : 1) He does not know about Sayori's depression. At this point in time, it seems only Monika knows (I haven't been able to look at the Natsuki DDLC+ Side stories, so maybe she told Natsuki there (and also, can we not forget nor forgive what Monika did to Sayori despite knowing that she was going through a lot of bad stuff because she was wonewy?)). To MC, all of this happening is just Sayori being a ditz like he's always known her to be since they were children. 2) he's incredibly dense and not that smart (like some Teenage guys are, sadly enough). It's not him being rude, he just genuinely understand what's the matter. 3) any "rude" thing he says to Sayori is clearly in a teasing and playful manner, since that's what childhood friends do with one another. Sayori understands this and plays along with the teasing, because at the end of the day, she knows he doesn't really mean all the 'mean' things he says to her (the conversation leading up to fixing her Blazer is clearly the two having fun chatting it up like good friends. Same with the snack conversation).
4) The moment Sayori's mask begins to slip, being when he sees "Bottles", he immediately begins to put a stop to his teasing for the most part and shows a lot of concern for her. There's multiple points in Act I where he drops the teasing and playfulness and just interacts with Sayori like the friend she is to him, like the closet chat
5) When Sayori doesn't act like her usual happy, bubbly self (aka, her mask), he drops the teasing and immediately tries to help her, even getting Monika involved because he's never seen her like this before so he's trying to get as many possible to help.
6) As soon as he learns about her Depression, he drops all pretenses of teasing and making fun of her and makes it known how much he treasures her as a Friend.
7) with her confession, it's up to you to decide how to respond, but canonically, there could be two reasons why he'd say the bad option : 1) He genuinely doesn't love her that way but wants to let her down as gently as possible or 2) He actually does love her but doesn't say that because he thinks it's important for her to learn to love herself before any relationship. Either way, that answer will crush her, so it's a lose-lose, but can you say you would've done better in such a situation? I know I wouldn't have. I mean, for God's sake, MC's a teenage boy, not some all knowing, OP protagonist.
8) leaving Sayori behind on the day of the festival is a dick move, I agree, but look at it from his perspective. His oldest and dearest friend from childhood just told him she's depressed and in love with him the day prior all in the span of a few hours and depending on your answer, you two either have started dating or you crushed her unintentionally. In both cases, he doesn't know what to say to her, he's likely still processing everything that happened and trying to find a decent thing to do for her. Also, with it being stated Sayori did what she did before MC even woke up, it's made clear that even if he checked in on her, it would've been too late anyway.
9) The moment, the absolute moment he sees '%' and realizes Sayori had a breakdown, he drops everything and rushes to her place and tries to check on her. When he sees her body, he suffers a breakdown himself which I will detail here word for word, so TW : "...What the hell...? What the hell?! I-Is this a nightmare?! It...has to be. This isn't real. There's no way this can be real. Sayori wouldn't do this. Everything was normal up to a few days ago. That's why I can't believe what my eyes are showing me...! *Surpresses vomit* Just yesterday...I told Sayori I know what's best and everything will be ok. Then why...? Why would she do this...? How could I be so helpless? What did I do wrong? [Place choice statement here] this is my fault---! If I just spent more time with her. Walked her to school. And remained friends with her like it always has been...then I could've prevented this. I know I could've prevented this!"
"Screw the Literature Club. Screw the festival. I just...lost my best friend. Someone I grew up with. She's gone forever now. Nothing I can do will bring her back. This isn't a game where I can reset and try something different. I had only one chance and I wasn't careful enough. And now I'll carry this guilt with me until I die. '''Nothing in my life is worth more than her's'''...but I still couldn't do what she needed from me. And now...I can never take it back. Never."
This breakdown shows that the moment he saw what he did, his world collapsed. He's just a young teenager, do you honestly expect to know everything and handle this better and that you'd handle it better than him because if you say that than I know you're fucking bullshitting.
In conclusion, all the people hating MC for what he does to Sayori are either misunderstanding what he does, not paying enough attention, or just doesn't care and hates him to hate him. I can forgive the former two, but if you're the latter, then I guess there's no getting through to you. Have fun being spiteful to some teenage boy, hope you have a fun life.
Also, I might be a tad bit biased because I hardcore ship MCori but even with me being open to admit that, it doesn't discount my argument.

This is what happens when you let me access Ao3.
Expect any piece of media that has child abuse as a background to be titled Home.
Explanation? I read a fic once that clarifies why Lemres has That Bond with Ms. Accord, as well as why he hates his home. Specifically, he went through hell no thanks to his family. The last song in Doki Doki Takeover! (Bad Ending) is titled Home. It's sung by Natsuki, a canonical abuse victim. Since Monika didn't make it in time to help the still fucked with girls, Natsuki would be abused in this timeline.

I absolutely love your analysis and explanation of Monikas character, I really hate it when people make her out to just be some bad guy who never cared for the others and only wanted you. They completely miss the point of her character. Yes she did mess up, but she never meant any of the things that happened to happen. She never wanted it to get that out of hand and just imagining how devastated she must have felt when her friends did actually die because of her own actions. She makes it so obvious that she did really care deeply for her friends (act three having a lot of evidence for it) Monika isn’t something abusive monster. She’s a complex character who just wants something real and unintentionally fucked up. Your analysis is very well written.
YEAA i agree completely!! i think a lot of her 'flippant' attitude is just a mask to hide how scared and horrified she is by everything. she fronts with a very blasé attitude because if she acknowledges how fucked everything is, she can no longer live in this state of denial that she's desperately clinging to! like for fucks sake she even chats with you about how she's going to feel about herself once she's in college. she clearly knows she's not going to be going to college, but she's so desperate to retain a sense of normalcy , she just tries to play like everything is normal and fine
also like, her deleting her friends etc etc, i genuinely understand where she's coming from as she had absolutely 0 idea that they were able to be sentient? she really thought they were just code and pre scripted characters, so like. the things she did to them, i just truly don't think she would have done Anything like that if she knew they were capable of sentience as well, which we ONLY find out in act 4 (and she immediately trashes the game because she wants to spare sayori and the others from the hell she's been living through the past weeks.
honestly , if ppl really think monika is a demon, i just don't think they ever went through and read her act 3 monologues, and certainly not with any intention to empathize with her
#asks#monika#ddlc#BUT YEAA THANKU IM GLAD IT READ WELL!! i wrote it in a monika loving haze so i am Very clad it came out coherent

i didn't think you would answer but you did! thank you!
for the first two episodes of swf, they introduced the dance crews and had members do one-on-one dance battles. an individual would call out a person they thought they could beat, compete, and the judges would vote on who was the better one. sometimes, if judges were unable to choose, they would have them do a rematch. these are some of my favorites (also the only ones that i could find on youtube):
1. lip j vs peanut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2fPdiQJmrs&ab_channel=ChaenLeeAllen
winner: lip j. they had a rematch but i can't find the full ver on youtube :(
2. lip j vs rozalin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ookJvQBIs5Q&ab_channel=ChaenLeeAllen
winner: rozalin.
3. monika vs zsun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kODMT3a1Vuo&ab_channel=ijenyou
winner: monika.
*some context: lip j and monika are the two most senior dancers in the show and are known as the dancers' teachers (along with honey j). lip j is famous for waacking and participating in (as well as winning) international dance competitions. monika is famous as a street dancer as well as participating in dance competitions. and so, for the other dancers to call them out, it was a huge shock.
also, the battle between lip j and rozalin was !! because of their history. rozalin was a student of lip j and part of her student dance waacking crew. however, she suddenly departed and there were rumors that rozalin was bad-mouthing lip j. this caused a lot of dancers to turn their backs on rozalin (seniority is huge in the dance scene; similar to how it is for idols). the two ultimately stopped communicating and through this show, they met again after 6-7 years. rozalin said that the rumors were false and she has nothing against lip j.
-
in the ep2 (second half) and ep 3, individuals from each crew were split up into different classes (e.g. leaders, assistants). they were asked to choreograph to a song and they all voted on which one they wanted to do. this is with the goal of wanting to be selected as "the main dancer." if selected, they would win points for their crew and help them from being eliminated. also, main dancers get to become the leaders for their performances and make whatever choices they want (i'll send these performances in a different ask because this is getting way too long!). i can't find all the clips on youtube :/ but these are the two that i found (and were the most popular from the show):
1. leaders class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A9XYJORDRM&t=651s&ab_channel=TMCREACTS
main dancer chosen: no:ze. she became famous as the dancer from kai's mmmh performance ("the girl who stood out more than kai") and her choreograph was chosen. a lot of people are covering this dance.
2. sub rank: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYq4aWwWesE&ab_channel=TMCREACTS (the audio is missing in the beginning)
main dancer chosen: the two girls from want.
no problem!!! i do actually answer all of my asks and i try to do justice to every question that people ask me, unless i'm like, really not interested or it's like hate or something like that. i just can be really slow with some of them because i want to do proper research and stuff and i have to be in the right headspace for that lol.
thank you for such a thorough explanation of the episodes, this is great! i don't have a lot to say about the battles or the classes other than dear jesus mnet find a proper angle and fucking lock off the goddamn camera. also yes i understand wanting to cut reactions in but the speed and frequency with which they do it makes the battles very hard to watch and i think gave me motion sickness. while sitting down.
#street woman fighter#swf#swf reviews#like i said. gerbil tired#part two should be right after this! or before this#i guess technically? i suppose i could publish this after so that it appears in order on the dash#ive done it before#text#answers

Thelreads, Vigilantes 34, Replies Part 1
1) “Even better because I’m working mostly with investigation of machinery and system faults, and I’m ready to be an obnoxious bitch towards those crabs again.”- Is it a fault if the crabs were wired to explode from the very beginning? Granted, that’s slightly against OSHA compliances in MHA’s workplace, but seeing as they give you mech suits for forklifts around here, job standards must have changed a lot
2) “Hey look, the three people that hopefully will be safe and sound once the revolution ends and the crabs take over the government. I mean, Monika is already appealing to her new overlords…”- Her quirk gave her a claw up in the pecking order.
3) “Fatgum got sent to the horny jail with the ultimate bonk, he was our last hope, but the crabs were too strong, even for him.”-At least Fat’s quirk provides a semi-plausible explanation for how he can have two entirely different character designs- All Might apparently just developed the ability to shift his form and art style naturally as a side effect of wielding OFA for long enough. If Izuku keeps mastering the quirk, there’s a possibility he’ll start transforming into a Joestar.
4) “I mean, he doesn’t need to punch where the guys are sitting, you know? the control system is probably in the back anyway, and he can still break off the arms and legs of the mechas so they stop- I fail to see how this is a difficult situation, you know?”- I think the back is armoured, to make it more defensible against strong shocks and to fit the overall crab theme, therefore it’s actually easier for Fat to disable the mechs by attacking their ‘underbelly’, where the more valuable systems that control the overall performance are located. A hero’s job is to isolate threats and neutralise them quickly and efficiently, and Even if Fatgum breaks the mechs’ arms and joints, they’ve got plenty of spares and two hostages still strapped into them they can use as shields when charging him and trying to body-slam him into submission.
Therefore, the best way to stop the crabs before the fight drags on long enough to hurt bystanders or the two shmucks strapped into the rampaging automatons is to remove them from the machines so fat can hit the central processers- I think the power core and everything is literally located right behind where they’re sitting, meaning Fat can’t actually shut the machines down directly as long as they’re still inside it, and he’d have to disable them in a more inefficient, Time-consuming and risky manner otherwise
5) “Also, iron is good for your body, or so I heard, so those arms are probably going to do wonders to your health Fat.”- It occurs to me that somebody with a combination of Tabe’s quirk and Fatgum’s would be one hell of a killer combination. The ability to eat literally anything to quickly replace your fat stores, and then expend said fat stores in energy-reflecting attacks- that would be one hell of a powerful quirk, assuming Tabe’s digestion abilities didn’t cancel out the ability to process the ‘food’ into fat.
6) “She cut the goddamn safety bars. Oh my god, is this what that talk about scissors was all about? I kept thinking about it for the last few chapters because I kept thinking someone was going to stab her with a scissor, and her power… is to cut things… like a scissor does…”- Admitably not my favourite quirk, despite the usefulness of the power, because I tried out putting my hands into V signs and ‘cutting’ objects like she does for a few minutes so see how it would feel, and only ended up hurting my finders in the process. Monika’s fingers must be pretty flexible to fit around the target she wants to cut without strain, in order to get enough purchase to start making incisions.
7) “Her power is literally to make scissors out of her fingers, I can’t believe it.
Also, I would hate to hold hands with her, good lord that’s a terrifying thought, trying to interlock fingers with someone just to lose one, if not all of them.”- Luckily it seems that one limitation- or perhaps ‘trained usage’- of her quirk is that Monika can’t activate her cutting powers with all her fingers, even by accident. It seems the cutting power manifests mainly between her Index and middle finger, and is consciously ‘on’ whenever she makes the V sign with her hands, meaning she can’t cut things unless her hands are making the appropriate shape. Guess it provides another reason for her to infiltrate the drug route, when the company they were using to smuggle the goods happened to be one that peddled her favourite form of food as well, given how her quirk’s power relates to them.
8) “Well, he could’ve done that before, you know? He could’ve just aimed at- you know what, nevermind, let’s just see the crab mechas being torn to shreds by Fatgum, the unjaible one.”- I mean, he could, but then the people might have been injured by flying shrapnel, electrocuted by sparking wires, or forced to remain in the crazy rollercoaster ride as the mech went haywire and ran all over the place as the damage started affecting its motor processors in the wrong way. It’s much safer for fat to dismantle those mechs when there’s no squishy human bodies that could be damaged nearby, and he’s not strong enough to overpower them with his base strength- even if he can rip them apart with punches to the weak spots, he can’t overcome them in a grappling match without using his quirk to help hold them down, so he’s not powerful enough to take them down whilst holding back, and since they’re machines, he needs strike the valuable circuitry to make them stop moving- which I’m pretty certain is located behind where the drivers are strapped in, possibly as an intentional design for the mechs’ usage as a fall-back option for the VF- so Fatgum can’t take the crabs down without using enough force to endanger both drivers and he can only really hit where they’re strapped in in order to have any effect on them.
The one mech he did manage to rip a limb off of was still capable of movement and being used as a hidden explosive by Scarface, so even beating them both down as he did wasn’t sufficient to fully incapacitate them as dangerous threats to the less-powerful police backup, and that was after he seriously tried to break them apart with his bare hands
9) “Considering it was either that or you turning the workers into mush alongside the crabs, then I’d say that she’s unlikely to get into trouble for this. Also, it’s not like you need to tell this particular detail, right?”- I feel this was written in to more underline the double-standards at play- the police frown upon unregistered quirk use, yet when Monika uses her to rescue trapped civilians in danger it’s overlooked and blown off more or less by her colleagues, yet with Koichi now on track to rescue Pop from her own machine, his quirk usage won’t be looked upon as leniently by the attending officers. There’s no difference between what they’re doing, yet Koichi’s still seen to be in the ‘wrong’ for risking his life and well-being without a licence like Monika just did in an ‘official’ capacity
10) “YOU’RE STILL HANGING AROUND? DUDE JUST FUCK OFF ALREADY”-Given the speeds he can move at, he probably did and nobody noticed. Just chucked the tablet in the air, sped off for a quick coffee break and zipped back to catch it before it hit the ground. Got to keep your energy levels up when destroying evidence, you know.
11) “Dammit Phelps, rule number one: always aim at the knees, no matter if its a gun fight, archery training, a karate match or professional cooking, the knees are always the target.”-Personally, I tend to aim a little higher than that, though not high enough for the chest. In my experience, a ‘fair’ fight means anything’s fair game.
12) “I THINK WE CAN IMAGINE WHAT “SLOWLY” WOULD BE LIKE FOR SOMEONE LIKE HIM, AND IT WILL STILL BE FASTER THAN THOSE BULLETS, THAT’S FOR SURE.”-I wonder if his top speed is ‘see/catch the bullets’ or if he goes just a little bit slower than that? Either way, his sheer acceleration puts him above Koichi in terms of short-range movement, even if he’s not got the exact same manoeuvrability advantages Koichi does. @thelreads

Hours after President Trump’s incendiary post last month about sending the military to the Minnesota protests, Trump called Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg.
The post put the company in a difficult position, Zuckerberg told Trump, according to people familiar with the discussions. The same message was hidden by Twitter, the strongest action ever taken against a presidential post.
To Facebook’s executives in Washington, the post didn’t appear to violate its policies, which allows leaders to post about government use of force if the message is intended to warn the public — but it came right up to the line. The deputies had already contacted the White House earlier in the day with an urgent plea to tweak the language of the post or simply delete it, the people said.
Eventually, Trump posted again, saying his comments were supposed to be a warning after all. Zuckerberg then went online to explain his rationale for keeping the post up, noting that Trump’s subsequent explanation helped him make his decision.
The frenzied push-pull was just the latest incident in a five-year struggle by Facebook to accommodate the boundary-busting ways of Trump. The president has not changed his rhetoric since he was a candidate, but the company has continually altered its policies and its products in ways certain to outlast his presidency.
Facebook has constrained its efforts against false and misleading news, adopted a policy explicitly allowing politicians to lie, and even altered its news feed algorithm to neutralize claims that it was biased against conservative publishers, according to more than a dozen former and current employees and previously unreported documents obtained by The Washington Post. One of the documents shows it began as far back as 2015, when as a candidate Trump posted a video calling for a ban of Muslims entering the United States. Facebook’s executives declined to remove it, setting in motion an exception for political discourse.
The concessions to Trump have led to a transformation of the world’s information battlefield. They paved the way for a growing list of digitally savvy politicians to repeatedly push out misinformation and incendiary political language to billions of people. It has complicated the public understanding of major events such as the pandemic and the protest movement, as well as contributed to polarization.
And as Trump grew in power, the fear of his wrath pushed Facebook into more deferential behavior toward its growing number of right-leaning users, tilting the balance of news people see on the network, according to the current and former employees.
Facebook is now confronting a mounting advertiser boycott that has pushed down its stock price as companies demand stricter policies against hate speech. Starbucks became the latest on Sunday to say it would hit pause on social media advertising.
Facebook is also facing a slow-burning crisis of morale, with more than 5,000 employees denouncing the company’s decision to leave Trump’s post that said, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” up.
Bowing to those pressures on Friday, Zuckerberg announced a rash of new policies aimed at better policing content on the site. That includes affixing labels on posts that violate hate speech or other policies — even on those from political leaders.
But the company said the post wouldn’t have qualified.
As the United States heads into another presidential election while facing a pandemic and civil unrest, the latitude given to Trump may afford him a potential advantage. In recent months, he has used Facebook and other platforms to tout misleading information about coronavirus cures, election fraud and the motives of protesters, frequently targeting a left-wing movement as a cause of violence without citing evidence.
It also places Facebook in growing conflict with its counterparts in Silicon Valley. Twitter has labeled several presidential tweets as abusive and misleading, and social media platform Snapchat curtailed the reach of the president’s account.
“The value of being in favor with people in power outweighs almost every other concern for Facebook,” said David Thiel, a Facebook security engineer who resigned in March after his colleagues refused to remove a post he believed constituted “dehumanizing speech” by Brazil’s president.
Facebook contends the use of incendiary populist language predates social media. Nick Clegg, Facebook’s vice president for global affairs and communications, said in a statement that populism wasn’t invented in Silicon Valley, pointing to centuries of political history before social media companies‘ existence.'
“From the Arab Spring to local candidates challenging political incumbents, social media has also helped to open up politics, not favor one side over the other,” Clegg added. “Studies have shown the drivers of populism are complex and cannot be reduced to the use of social media, in fact political polarization has fallen in many countries with high internet use.”
Facebook declined to make Zuckerberg available for an interview, although it pointed out that Zuckerberg opposed Trump when his Muslim immigration ban went into effect. The White House declined to comment.
Zuckerberg talks frequently about making choices that stand the test of time, preserving the values of Facebook and subsidiaries WhatsApp and Instagram for all of its nearly 3 billion monthly users for many years into the future — even when those decisions are unpopular or controversial.
At one point, however, he wanted a different approach to Trump.
Setting the stage
Before the 2016 election, the company largely saw its role in politics as courting political leaders to buy ads and broadcast their views, according to people familiar with the company’s thinking.
But that started to change in 2015, as Trump’s candidacy picked up speed. In December of that year, he posted a video in which he said he wanted to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. The video went viral on Facebook and was an early indication of the tone of his candidacy.
Outrage over the video led to a companywide town hall, in which employees decried the video as hate speech, in violation of the company’s policies. And in meetings about the issue, senior leaders and policy experts overwhelmingly said they felt that the video was hate speech, according to three former employees, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. Zuckerberg expressed in meetings that he was personally disgusted by it and wanted it removed, the people said. Some of these details were previously reported.
At one of the meetings, Monika Bickert, Facebook’s vice president for policy, drafted a document to address the video and shared it with leaders including Zuckerberg’s top deputy COO Sheryl Sandberg and Vice President of Global Policy Joel Kaplan, the company’s most prominent Republican.
The document, which is previously unreported and obtained by The Post, weighed four options. They included removing the post for hate speech violations, making a one-time exception for it, creating a broad exemption for political discourse and even weakening the company’s community guidelines for everyone, allowing comments such as “No blacks allowed” and “Get the gays out of San Francisco.”
Facebook spokesman Tucker Bounds said the latter option was never seriously considered.
The document also listed possible “PR Risks” for each. For example, lowering the standards overall would raise questions such as, “Would Facebook have provided a platform for Hitler?” Bickert wrote. A carveout for political speech across the board, on the other hand, risked opening the floodgates for even more hateful “copycat” comments.
Ultimately, Zuckerberg was talked out of his desire to remove the post in part by Kaplan, according to the people. Instead, the executives created an allowance that newsworthy political discourse would be taken into account when making decisions about whether posts violated community guidelines.
That allowance was not formally written into the policies, even though it informed ad hoc decision-making about political speech for the next several years, according to the people. When a formal newsworthiness policy was announced in October 2016, in a blog post by Kaplan, the company did not discuss Trump’s role in shaping it.
In an interview, Bickert said the company ultimately made a call to maintain Trump’s Muslim ban video because executives interpreted Trump’s comment to mean that the then-candidate was not speaking about all Muslims, but rather advocating for a policy position on immigration as part of a newsworthy political debate. She said she did not recall the document where the options were presented.
Facebook’s Bounds added that the “newsworthiness” policy was added in 2016 after content reviewers removed a photo of a naked girl fleeing a napalm attack during the Vietnam War. “Our goal was to recognize the essential public benefit of preserving content that in other contexts wouldn’t be allowed,” Bounds said. “In the case of elected officials, it also ensures that they will be held to account for their words,” so that people can judge for themselves.
In spring of 2016, Zuckerberg was also talked out of his desire to write a post specifically condemning Trump for his calls to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, after advisers in Washington warned it could look like choosing sides, according to Dex Torricke-Barton, one of Zuckerberg’s former speechwriters.
The political speech carveout ended up setting the stage for how the company would handle not only Trump, but populist leaders around the world who have posted content that test these boundaries, such as Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil and Narendra Modi in India.
“Though [Facebook] has cracked down on misinformation, the most problematic influencers are politicians,” said Claire Wardle, U.S. director of First Draft, an organization dedicated to fighting misinformation that has a partnership with Facebook to fact-check news articles. “You can do all the fact checking in the world, but these influencers have a disproportionate impact.”
Trump presented a unique challenge, she added. “Until then, no one would have considered a president who would have said those things.”
Protecting the right
After the election, it became clear Russia had used social media to sow disinformation. Facebook soon after became a frequent target of the president’s ire. He tweeted that the social media giant was “anti-Trump” and trying to undermine his victory.
At the same time, GOP leaders stepped up criticism that platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, with leadership ranks full of liberals, sought to limit the reach of right-leaning voices.
“There’s no credible research supporting Trump’s claim that social platforms suppress conservative content, but he still succeeded in getting them to revise their rules for him,” said former Facebook spokesman Nu Wexler, who left the company in 2018.
As Facebook scrambled to tackle foreign interference and misinformation, its executives in the nation’s capital argued that caution and deference was necessary to survive the new political environment, according to three people familiar with the company’s thinking.
Facebook’s security engineers in December 2016 presented findings from a broad internal investigation, known as Project P, to senior leadership on how false and misleading news reports spread so virally during the election. When Facebook’s security team highlighted dozens of pages that had peddled false news reports, senior leaders in Washington, including Kaplan, opposed shutting them down immediately, arguing that doing so would disproportionately impact conservatives, according to people familiar with the company’s thinking. Ultimately, the company shut down far fewer pages than were originally proposed while it began developing a policy to handle these issues.
How conservatives learned to wield power inside Facebook
A year later, Facebook considered how to overhaul its scrolling news feed, the homepage screen most users see when they open the site. As part of the change to help limit misinformation, it changed its news feed algorithm to focus more on posts by friends and family versus publishers.
In meetings about the change, Kaplan questioned whether the revamped algorithm would hurt right-leaning publishers more than others, according to three people familiar with the company’s thinking who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. When the data showed it would — conservative leaning outlets were pushing more content that violated its policies, the company had found — he successfully pushed for changes to make the new algorithm to be what he considered more evenhanded in its impact, the people said.
Isolated and divided
With the 2020 election on the horizon, Facebook and Zuckerberg’s hands-off approach to free speech was leaving it increasingly isolated in Silicon Valley.
In May 2019, Zuckerberg, citing free speech, refused to take down a doctored video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that made her appear drunk.
Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg reached out to Speaker Pelosi. She hasn’t called him back.
That summer, company leaders held a meeting to revisit its newsworthiness exception, which until then had been determined on a case-by-case basis, with the most controversial calls made by Zuckerberg. Internally, some were unclear how far that leeway extended, according to two people.
Clegg, the company’s new head of global affairs and communications and a former British deputy prime minister, announced the outcome of that meeting at a speech in Washington in September 2019. Aside from speech that causes violence or real-world harm, Facebook would allow politicians to express themselves virtually unchecked on social media. Facebook’s network of independent fact-checkers, which had been established as a key part of the company’s response to disinformation, would not evaluate their claims and the community guidelines would largely not apply to politicians.
Facebook did not want to be an arbiter of truth in political debate, he said, echoing Zuckerberg’s long-standing position.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says in interview he fears ‘erosion of truth’ but defends allowing politicians to lie in ads
The speech angered some employees, triggering more than 250 of them to sign a petition disagreeing with the decision because they thought it gave politicians a pass.
One former executive, Yael Eisenstat, who worked to improve the political ads process, wrote in The Post that the controversy was “the biggest test of whether [Facebook] will ever truly put society and democracy ahead of profit and ideology.”
She said that she routinely experienced how the company’s efforts at integrity were often undermined by “the few voices who ultimately decided the company’s overall direction.”
Meanwhile, in October, as Facebook faced more potential regulation and political troubles, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan went to the White House for a private dinner with Trump, a part of the CEO’s effort to cultivate personal relationships in Washington.
Tweetstorm
As the pandemic and civil unrest dominated the first half of this year, Trump continued to turn to social media platforms to spread misinformation. He touted the unproven drug hydroxychloroquine as a possible cure for the coronavirus and claimed without evidence that the left-wing antifa movement was behind the violence at George Floyd protests.
Meanwhile, Facebook employees began challenging the company’s decisions.
Two months before Trump’s ”looting, shooting“ post, the Brazilian president posted about the country’s indigenous population, saying, “Indians are undoubtedly changing. They are increasingly becoming human beings just like us.”
Thiel, the security engineer, and other employees argued internally that it violated the company’s internal guidelines against “dehumanizing speech.” They were referring to Zuckerberg’s own words while testifying before Congress in October in which he said dehumanizing speech “is the first step toward inciting” violence. In internal correspondence, Thiel was told that it didn’t qualify as racism — and may have even been a positive reference to integration.
Thiel quit in disgust.
In May, following years of internal debate of its own, Twitter chose to go in the opposite direction. It labeled two misleading tweets by Trump about mail-in ballots with a fact-check label.
Twitter’s decision to label Trump’s tweets was two years in the making
Trump responded two days later with an executive order that could hurt social media companies by removing a key exception that limits their liability for content posted on their sites.
The next day, Trump tweeted about the Minnesota protests. Twitter quickly labeled the tweet for violating rules about glorifying violence, and Snapchat stopped promoting Trump’s account the following week. YouTube told The Post that it holds politicians to the same standards as everyone else.
Facebook, on the other hand, chose to haggle with the White House, asking for a deletion or a change, said the people. Axios first reported the call, which Facebook’s Bounds confirmed to The Post.
As employees raged on internal message boards and externally on Twitter, Zuckerberg told workers that Facebook’s policies might change again in light of Trump’s post. The company had rules allowing for “state use of force,” he said, but they were vague and didn’t encompass the possibility that such pronouncements could signal harmful aggression. Bickert’s team planned a series of policy meetings for the weeks ahead.
In June, Facebook removed a swath of Trump campaign ads with Nazi symbolism, after an initial internal assessment that found the ads did not violate the company’s polices, according to documents viewed by The Post. In meetings, senior executives argued that not removing them would be perceived as pandering too much to the president, according to a person familiar with the discussions.
Last week, the advertiser boycott picked up steam. Hershey, Verizon, Unilever, Coca-Cola and others said they were temporarily pulling ads.
On Friday, Zuckerberg told employees in a live-streamed town hall that he was changing the company’s policy to label problematic newsworthy content that violated the company’s policies as Twitter does, a major concession amid the rising tide of criticism. He also said in the most explicit language ever that the company would remove posts by politicians that incite violence and suppress voting. Still, civil rights leaders said his assertions didn’t go far enough.
“There are no exceptions for politicians in any of the policies that I’m announcing today,” Zuckerberg said.

You better prepare yourself cause these are Quite A Few Questions 👀👀 3, 4, 11, 12, 15, 21, 23, 31, 33, 39 and lastly 40. Wow. 11 questions lmao
Thank you so much 😭😭❤
3. rant. just do it (I am going to put my whole ass rant under the cut because BOY IS IT LENGTHY. Also tw child abuse, pedophilia, self-harm and I think that’s it.)
4. do you think its ok to separate the artist from the art? No? Like I guess if you want to, that’s fine, I’m not gonna hate you for it, but for me personally I’m gonna try to avoid it as much as possible. If a bad person creates a masterpiece, I’m still not gonna support them.
11. what unusual talent do you have? Uhh mild body contortion? Like I can’t touch my toes for the life of me but I can twist my body really weirdly and bend all my fingertips backwards by a lot. I love freaking people out by doing that.
12. what’s the most interesting schools gossip you’ve ever heard? I have audio-based problems meaning I have trouble understanding someone when they speak and also remembering what they said, so I can eavesdrop on the juiciest gossip and forget the next day. However, I do remember this one thing about some kid named Evan being a vampire, which I distinctly remember because Jake talked about it, but I don’t remember how it came up.
15. what’s a question do you constantly get asked? One would think it would be “omg are you left handed?” Or something similar, but I don’t think anyone’s ever asked me about it. One question I do get a lot is from my boyfriend, “why are you so cute?” It makes me shy and I have to hide my face.
21. what’s a conspiracy you believe in? That there are Warrior cats living somewhere in the world (from the warrior series). Which I guess isn’t a conspiracy, but I believe in it!
23. if you could break one of your bad habits which would you choose? The inability to take care of myself. I mean, if someone wasn’t there to remind me every day, I would never remember to take my medicine, or brush my teeth before bed, or even get dressed half the days. I wouldn’t call it lazy, it’s more of a “I’m too tired to take care of myself”. That’s mental illness for you babey!!
31. you can change one thing in your life right now. what are you changing? OH. I would totally delete every disease in the world. This whole quarantine thing is making me sick physically, emotionally, and mentally, because I am not allowed outside at all and the lack of fresh air, meeting people, and vitamin D is stressing me out and well I feel bad almost all the time now. Not to mention all the cool stuff I was gonna do for my 2020 graduation. 😔
33. what do you think about a lot I sometimes wonder if my best friend would let me call him Jakey or Jakie as a nickname but I’m too shy to ask because I am baby.
39. describe your asthetic Okay so I call it “Pretty-Cryptid, Baby-Softcore.” Because I am baby AND a cryptid. I’ll be eating baby carrots from the bag and staring out the window one minute then I’ll want to be snuggled under lots of blankets the next. I also really love pretty things and colors. Pastel purples and blues? Hell yeah! Pats on the head? I love you. A demon with ethereal vibes and pretty jewelry is standing next to me in bed and telling me everything’s going to be okay? OGHOHOHHHHGH ❤❤❤❤ Anyway I want a pretty monster dad, please?
40. answer with one of your ‘school memes’ (inside jokes you have with your class/grade) with no explanation Mr. Wise.
Here’s my rant:
The basis of it all is just that I would probably sleep forever if I could.
I guess that isn’t all quite a rant, so I’ll start of on a mild note. What the fuck is happening to my dreams? I’ve been having these weird ass dreams about people taking care of me and genuinely wanting to become a parental figure to me. They all wear masks, two of which look exactly like SCP-035 and SCP-049, but there’s this one dude, I don’t know him, but he wears this mask with holes in it. Apparently his name is Jason? This isn’t the first time I’ve had a dream about someone who I didn’t know existed, I’ve also had dreams about Monika from DDLC before I knew who she was, and even about how she died. It was creepy as fuck, and I sure hope my dreams don’t come true because I’ve had dreams of the future more than once.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into the heavy stuff, starting with my parents.I know I’m not the only person to have shitty parents, but that doesn’t stop them from being shitty. And before I get into anything, please please, please don’t report them to anyone. It’s probably weird to hear considering all they’ve done, but the guilt will probably kill me literally, and I still kinda love them, I mean they’re my parents and they took care of me. I don’t want anything to happen to them, and I don’t want to have to hurt myself because I did something to them, even if it was indirectly.
It used to be physical abuse, but it’s evolved into verbal as I grew up. Whenever I used to get in trouble, I would get so fucking terrified of what was going to happen to me. My dad, who was mostly absent from my life, (hence my constant wishing for a fictional character to be my dad, and probably a HUGE factor for what’s happening to my dreams lately) was also the most heavy handed with the hitting. He would spank me so hard that I would be crying and my butt would be red for hours. And it was so SO obvious that he liked my sister more than me, because it was always me who ended up with the red butts, and she’d get away with a loud yelling at. Meanwhile my mom would just hit me wherever she could with whatever she could, including a wire coat hanger when she was doing laundry.
And I recognize that I was a problem child, both physically and mentally because of my internal deformities that cause a lot of health problems, but also my weird boyish mentality and energy (I was into roughhousing a lot). But even then, just yelling would be enough to make me stop. Hitting me the way they did only made me learn how to lie to them and hide when I did something wrong.
This sort of stuff went on until about middle school, where it turned into more verbal threats about kicking me out of the house, as well as calling me names and making comments that dropped my self esteem very low, including stupid cow, bitch, and even telling me to hide my body and never wear bikinis or short shorts or crop tops (which I was already sensitive enough about because of my scars and the bump in my abdomen because of my knotted intestines, which gives me digestive issues if I eat too much). Dad almost completely dropped off the disciplinary train, only yelling at me extremely loudly when he got angry, but other than that I did pretty much nothing with him.
Because of them I’ve become extremely paranoid when it comes to touches that aren’t meant to be 100% comforting, and I’ve never been able to fully trust anyone for fear of getting hurt, (I’m sorry Jake :( if it makes you feel better though I trust you the most out of anyone else) and I get nervous when speaking up because I always got shot down by my parents.
It’ll be okay though because I have my boyfriend who I’ll get to live with soon, even if it’s just for the summer.
This isn’t everything that they’ve done, but it’s the majority of it, and even though they do good stuff with me sometimes, like my dad cooks breakfast or takes us out to eat, or we all go on nice vacations together, and it makes me feel guilty that I’m making them look bad, and worry that I’m oversharing or being too sensitive, but then I remember what they do and have done, and remind myself that I’ll only visit during holidays.
When I was 13, I came into contact with a pedophile. My first one out of at least 2 that I remember. I’m going to spare the details, but he tried to roleplay sexual situations with him, and convince me to undress in front of him, and that’s when I cut contact with him, and faked my death. I’m so, SO fucking sick of pedos, and pedo apologists, saying there’s nothing wrong with the age difference, when pedophilia has done nothing good to or for children. It gave me severe PTSD, to the point that I can’t say any words relating to reproduction, and visual-based sexual content will cause me to have flashbacks and panic attacks and cause me to scratch myself. Thanks pedos! Fucking hate you all! Please die.
And before people say I am overreacting, I’ve had this huge trigger since I was 13 and that is not something a kid should go through. And the reason why not a lot of people know about what happened, it’s because of the fear that I harbored, that people would laugh at me, and might use my triggers against me, which made things even worse, and it wasn’t until my boyfriend triggered me (accidentally) that I finally told someone, and it made me feel better that I could rely on him.
Other than that, another rant is about my boyfriend. I mean, he’s a good boyfriend, and he’s nice, but sometimes he comes off as insensitive and it makes me upset. That’s most of the reasons why we fight. Another big thing is lack of affection/attention, which might seems strange since we’re always hanging out, it seems, and cuddling, but sometimes he falls asleep on me and I get bored and don’t know what to do, or sometimes he ignores me to play video games or talk to other people. I am very touch starved so I need constant attention and contact or else I get worried, and I don’t know if he knows this or not, but he definitely comes off as ignorant sometimes.
He makes up for a lot of stuff he does, but it doesn’t make what he did go away, and I wish he’d realize that and change because he keeps making the same mistakes.
My last rant is going to be about myself, and that I feel like a shit person! I feel like I always make things worse! I feel bad for every decision I make! I feel like I’m too clingy to my boyfriend and that I ask too much of him sometimes, and it makes me feel like shit because what I want and how I feel afterwards are different things and wow! Time for scratches! Also I want to have the power to always know what to do and say to make everyone happier and feel better! But then I get scared I’m gonna make a mistake and instead of trying to help I ignore them and go wow! I am a very shit person for ignoring them! And now my heart hurts because I got another heart palpitation by panicking! Wow I have a shit body! My heart deformities might kill me in my sleep! Wow! I am so insecure about everything I do and every way I look. I just want to become small and disappear sometimes. I miss you Jake. It’s hard for me to tell you I love you because it’s such an intimate phrase and my boyfriend was the first to hear it from me. But I’m glad you’re the second, even though we were so close to it. Somewhere in an alternate universe we’re together, and that makes me happy. I hope I we can become platonically intimate again, I remember holding your hand at night and it made me feel a little bit better at that camp.
My body just always hurts. I have to take a lot of medicine, and between all my heart, lung, and intestinal issues, on top of all my mental issues, majority of which have gone undiagnosed because my mom is in denial and refuses to get me to any sort of therapy; all of that combined makes me tired constantly, and I just always have stress, and a little headache in the back of my head.
I’m still hurting a lot, but I hope to get better. I have lots of ideas for the future, and I want to complete them before I go. I hope I make it past 2020, with many of you in tow.
I’m so tired.
I’m sorry if I made you sad.

What IS Anti?
The following is my own personal take on this character, and it’s totally okay if you have a different one. That is the nature of Anti’s character, after all. To be interpreted many different ways. So please don’t take this as one of those “if you don’t think this you’re wrong” rants because I’m not one of those types of people and would hate to come across that way.
Okay, so, something that’s always bugged me is when people call Anti a demon. I mean, characters in fics are fine because they don’t really know Anti the way we do. But when people do it? I don’t know, it always rubs me the wrong way, because he doesn’t really strike me as a demon. A demon is something that...well, it has connotations, basically. When you hear the word “demon,” you have an idea of what to expect. And Anti just doesn’t seem like that to me. He doesn’t fit my personal idea of what a demon is, because he’s more...chaotic. You can’t put him in a box like that. It also implies he’s one of a race, or category, and to me he’s always been unique.
This thought occurred to me while I was writing the last Stitched story, and I got to thinking. If I don’t think Anti is a demon, then what is he? I’ve seen people call him a glitch in fics, but is that correct?
Actually, when I thought about it, yeah, it is.
What is a glitch? It’s a mistake, an error, a malfunction in a system. Usually, glitches end up wrecking a program, keeping it from doing what it’s supposed to. It breaks the system around it. Remember this part in Dark Silence? The first time we saw Anti without the filter of a camera? He’s breaking the world around him. He’s messing with the system.
A glitch is something that should not exist. It doesn’t obey the laws of the program it’s in. Anti is a glitch in the fabric of the world he lives in. That’s why he can do all sorts of crazy shit, and doesn’t really have an established set of powers. He can pop out of nowhere, summon a knife out of thin air, possess people, influence computer videos and also old-fashioned cameras (notice how in JJ’s power hour all the effects are having to do with old film, ‘cause that’s the lens we’re looking through), and a whole bunch more stuff. Things that should be impossible, but to Anti are entirely possible, because he himself should not exist. That’s his source of powers. Anything that shouldn’t exist, does to him.
You know what else is an example of something that isn’t possible? Breaking the fourth wall. Because guess what? Anti is the only one of the Septic boys to talk directly to us. I mean, yeah, I can think of moments where the others seem to talk to us, but there’s always an explanation for it. To them, they’re filming a video. They’re Power Hours for their friend Jack’s channel, (or Chase’s own channel, or whoever JJ’s audience is) and that’s what you do, you talk to the camera. And if they’re not filming a Power Hour, I firmly believe that any videos the boys show up in are dramatic recreations of what actually happened. Jackie wasn’t actually playing Welcome to the Game, he was hacking the Dark Web. Schneep wasn’t actually playing Bio Inc, he was operating on his friend.
But Anti, he’s talking to us, the regular, real-life viewers of Jack’s videos. He gives us speeches about how we’re just watching things happen, about how everything is going in circles and he’s tired of it. He’s also, you know, talked through actual Jack’s other social medias (Hello October 2016 how ya doin’?) and none of the others have. Anti knows his reality isn’t real. He knows about the channel, about the actual person Sean, as opposed to Jack, the self-insert character. And he’s the only one who knows that. That’s why some people in the community, me included, associate him with characters like Flowey and Monika. Because like them, he knows nothing is real, so what’s the harm in messing with the other characters?
Also, if Anti’s a glitch, you know what else glitches do? They spread. They ruin their programs. They destroy. Anti’s just a smarter version of this. He wants things (and people) to break, and he’s gonna have fun making them.

Favorite antagonists/villains (Part II)
See Part I for explanations: https://uebermacht.tumblr.com/post/187057044046/favorite-antagonistsvillains-part-i
Also I realized this looks and reads a lot like a WatchMojo list in text form, I’m very sorry for that if you are one of the many people who hate that. It just happened :D
11. Martin Walker / The Player (Spec Ops: The Line)
Spec Ops: The Line was one of the best games I ever played. It starts off as a regular first person shooter, good American soldiers against bad Arabic goons, standard fare. But slowly it turns into a PTSD-ridden psychological nightmare as the sanity of the main character begins to unravel while he has to do more and more immoral choices and commit numerous atrocities to reach his end goal. The game even goes so far to berate you, the player, for making him do these things via hidden messages in loading screens. The ending is similarly depressing, putting a nice twist on the usual black and white morality of shooters. It’s a deconstruction of the genre if you want to call it that, and it puts YOU as the main villain, how cool is that? I read it borrows strongly from the movie “Apocalypse Now” (that I haven’t seen) which again takes the storyline from “The Heart of Darkness” (which I tried to read once but didn’t get very far), so if movies or books are more your thing I guess you could check out those, too.
12. Marx (Kirby Superstar / Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
Marx is an outlier in this list, since I didn’t “experience” this character in the original game, only in his cameo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But still, I really liked his design before and after his transmutation, and the creepy laughing and the fact that he splits his head in half to summon black holes and whatnot made him a primary example of the “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” rule. Did I mention his eyeballs plop out at some time? Or that he grows weird vein-like tendrils to attack you with? Spooky shit.
13. Megumi Sakura (Gakkou Gurashi! / School-Live!)
I tried to keep it to one entry per franchise but I had to get this one in here. The friendly, caring and compassionate teacher of the girls soon becomes a motherly figure after certain events and is the person that manages to keep everyone together and happy and is levelheaded enough to plan their next steps. But soon disaster strikes and she is ripped from their lives, leaving the girls (and especially the main character) in the state they are in for most of the series. Only to be “reunited” with them later on in the story, but not under happy circumstances as you may think. The strong love and emotional bond the girls built up with their teacher threatens to be their downfall in the end, even if Megumi tried her hardest to avoid that by keeping herself away from them in fear of hurting them. This one is more sad and depressing than outright evil or hateable. Loved ones turning against you is one of the things I personally would fear the most in these kinds of scenarios and what makes it so scary.
14. Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club)
Doki Doki Literature Club was one of the most interesting games I played and I think the first “horror” game ever. This and Gakkou Gurashi opened the gate of “psychological horror in cutesy facade” to me and I loved them ever since. So it is no surprise that Monika makes it on this list. Lovestruck after becoming a self-aware AI in a romance visual novel, she tries her hardest to manipualte her surroundings and the other characters to make you, the player, fall in love with her. She is not good at writing code however, so she slowly turns the game into a mess of existential horror and fucked up imagery until she finally traps you in a dead end. The only way to proceed is to delete her character from the game files, which is such an interesting concept that I have never witnessed in games before.
15. Pride (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Another contender for the “looks innocent but is actually creepy” category. He gets introduced as the cheerful son of a caring mother and a "problematic” father, which makes you feel sorry for him at first. But later it is revealed that he is actually a shadow-controlling monster who acts purely on malevolent intent. He has a strong sadistic streak and takes great pleasure in scaring, mutilating and killing people with his blade-like shadow appendages. He is also very powerful, so powerful that the protagonists can’t even defeat him and have to resort to trap him in darkness, since he can’t use his powers if there is no light to cast shadows. I really liked the reveal and his powers, also the design and concept a lot, making him my favorite antagonist in the series.
16. Reina (Tokyo Dark)
Reina is another example for a transforming villain, only that it’s in the other direction than usual. Instead of going from nice and cute to terrifying and evil, the more you learn about her and her past the more you start to feel for her and eventually want to help her. She still makes a very strong first impression as a severely unhinged murderer, and the frequent psychological horror-esque moments involving her image that plague the mind of the protagonist do not help. Her portrayal in that way is equally scary as her fucked up past life is scarring, making her a really interesting character and more of a tragic victim of circumstances than a ruthless killer.
17. Satou Matsuzaka (Happy Sugar Life)
Another character that looks cute and innocent but is actually not. A fucked up character (the protagonist, even) from a even more fucked up series, she is what is usually described as a “yandere”; meaning someone with such strong romantic obsession with someone that they would do everything to be together with them. Only in her case the person of interest is a little girl that she more or less abducted, keeping her locked in her apartment and suffers from severe stockholm syndrome. The show plays around with a lot of messed up topics in a not very delicate way leaving you wondering what the hell is going on and I still can’t tell if I liked it or not. But Satou’s character was at least very memorable to me. She is also responsible for one of the most unnerving, disturbing and hard-to-watch death scenes in any form of media I've seen so far, so “bonus points” for that.
18. Shadow Peach / Shadow Queen (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)
As another example of great Paper Mario villains, the Shadow Queen struck me as awesome because of the concept of having to battle Princess Peach as the final boss of a Mario game. A possessed goth version of Peach (with her real form being a tangled mass of shadows and hands), but still. While not being as well-written as other characters on this list (being just generally evil and wanting to rule the world), the Shadow Queen just kind of comes out of left field in the end, defeating what you thought was the final boss, and proceeding to obliterate you without you not being able to fight back. In general, she was very Giygas-esque, because you can only fight her through the power of compassion, love and friendship!, but I still like her for the dark turn it caused near the end. I like the battle theme, too.

19. Walter White (Breaking Bad)
Breaking Bad is generally seen as one of the best series ever, and I liked it a lot, too (and not only because I’m a chemist). It did an interesting thing with its narration, where the character you root for and the roles of protagonist and antagonist shift over the course of the series from Walter to Jesse. This only works if the characters are written and played well (which they were), and Bryan Cranston did an amazing job in portraying the duality of a hard-working family man suffering from cancer and an egocentric criminal druglord bastard. In the end it was clear that Walter White was never a good person, but at least in his final moments he realizes all the horrible things he had done, saves Jesse from a life as a slave and imprisonment and makes reparations as best as he can. I found him to be a truly remarkable character. You root for him, feel sorry for him, hate him, want him to die, everything at once.
20. Wheatley (Portal 2)
What would happen if an artificial intelligence designed and programmed to be goofy and stupid got the power of omnipotence over basically everything? The answer is Wheatley of Portal 2, a funny and entertaining sidekick (voiced by comedian Stephen merchant) that helps you through the first third or so of the game, only to be eventually corrupted by the power he can wield after defeating glaDOS and serving as the main antagonist since then. He is still very dumb and kind of funny, but also tries to kill you which makes him seem more like a lunatic murderer. While GlaDOS was intelligent, cunning and very, very, very sarcastic about everything, Wheatley is just unpredictable and crazy which kind of makes him more menacing in a way. I kind of felt sorry for him in the end, but luckily Portal games are not as dark in nature as they could be, so I guess it’s cool.
And that ends the list. To everyone who made it this far, I hope it was somewhat entertaining, I had fun compiling it and I guess that alone is enough anyways.

No Yuri, you just need to be honest at the right time. You keep going on about how Monika didn't want to be found. I'm sure she didn't want to be found because she had that horrible voice, or feeling, making her feel that way. You don't deserve to be ostracised, but you should be able to tell when you're being, well, an ass. Someone wouldn't typically think "my friend is a suicide risk. Let's let them try." That's messed up, inevitable or not. What if Monika succeeded, Yuri?
💜I guess I was speaking as if it were me.. I wouldn’t want to be found, or searched for, I would want to be forgotten. I hardly exist anyway, and then the world could quit lying to itself I belong here. I think Monika would too, but only so she doesn’t hurt anybody anymore.
💜What would you have had me do, lie and feign panic that Monika is missing? I can’t do emotions…. I can’t fake them like Sayori and Monika can. It seemed like a really heavy call for judgement on Sayori’s side that I wasn’t worried, so I defended myself with the truth; it’s the only explanation strong enough and then any judgements of character at least wouldn’t be misinformed. I expect people to hate me but I want Sayori to understand me, because I’m not….that bad of a person…
💜….I didn’t think I could stop Monika. it would only hurt me to worry about it, to fail.. It’s easier to let her go. I think that’s all it is…

Hey there! Are you good? I hope so! Hm, I'd like to request something if it's okay... Like, head canons of how would it be the reactions of the girls from Doki Doki Literature Club when they find out that they're pregnant :o and how'd they tell to their s/o. Thank you and a big bear hug for you sweet pea! 💙
{ Oh, it’s always nice writing about them! }
🎀 MONIKA 🎀
Oh, it’s a big surprise, something she did not expect because she usually uses protection but she’s a very logical girl and she does not freak out, and she takes this thing in the best way possible.
You and Monika love each other a lot, you have already spoken about it. Having a family is one of her dreams she’s still very romantic and she wants to share everything with her partner. The fact that she is going to have a baby with you is marvellous. She’s very happy and curious, this is a new experience and she’s glad you’ll be by her side.
Of course, she does not hide the news and she tells you it on the same day. Maybe you’ll be the shocked one here, because Monika is perfectly calm and aware but she’s ready to help you. You are very impressed and confused, it seems you are the pregnant girl here, and not her. She’s too calm and controlled but it’s a luck Monika is like this. This experience is going to be interesting for the both of you.
.
🎀 SAYORI 🎀
We can say she is perplexed and scared, even if this is her dream and she loves children. She has always dreamt to become mother. Then you are her lover, she loves you so much, so having a baby with you is another dream coming true. She cannot be happier than this but she’s worried and she hopes you won’t be angry with her, and you won’t leave her after this.
How can you be angry with her? It’s impossible. When she tells you the truth, you are so excited and happy, and you hug her. You cannot believe it, you hope it’s not a joke but she’s not a girl who could ever joke about something like this. You are proud of here and happy she will be the mother of your child.
Actually, a baby can truly help her to heal from her mental disease. She won’t feel useless or alone anymore, a child can fill her heart with joy and passion. It’s like a miracle, we can say, this is the medicine she needs to get rid of all that sufferance she keeps in her soul. It is well known that children can help in these situations and her life will change drastically. Her entire existence will become more radiant and colourful.
.
🎀 NATSUKI 🎀
Oh, shit… This is her comment. She freaks out, she cannot believe something like this happened and she’s afraid. She does not know how to tell you, maybe she should not tell you. Of, fuck! She’s unable to think properly. She’s fucked up!
Basically, she’s afraid you can leave her, it’s a mess. She does not know how to tell her family, she’s so scared. You notice something is wrong, and you ask for explanation she does not give you and the two of you fight because she’s stubborn. Maybe you will find it out by yourself, finding the pregnancy test in the trash and then you’ll freak out like her. Why hasn’t she told you yet?
Well… You are the one to tell her, you found it out and you need a real explanation. She explodes in tears, confessing all her fears. Her family still hates her and now you’ll hate her too. You cannot hate her for it, it’s quite stupid, but she should have told you before because you could help her. You just want to see her happy and serene and you’ll be always by her side, no matter what kind of decision she’ll take, if she decides to keep the baby or not, you’ll stand by her.
.
🎀 YURI 🎀
Oh, well… She’s quite shocked but she does not freak out and she’s rational enough to organize a way to tell you. She’s a little sneaky and she does not tell you it directly. She’ll talk about the topic, asking you if you like children and if you have ever dreamt to have one by your own and then she will tell you.
Of course, she hopes you’ll say you like children because she wants to keep it, her hidden dream is to be mother but she has never confessed it (it was like a guilty pleasure for her, yes, it’s weird).
Anyway, she knows you’re intelligent, gentle and responsible and she knows you’ll take the greatest decision. Or maybe she will also force you to have a child with her (she’s still a yandere) so maybe you have no other choice, buddy.
