The ongoing rap discourse is really funny to me because like. Music is not a universal language. That's a stupid cliché. People like stuff that sounds kinda like stuff they've heard before because their brains already know how to process it. British people were super racist about it during the whole empire gambit. Now things spread more easily and people listen to a lot more variety of stuff than they used to, but there are still variables by language, region, platform, and, yes, class and race.

So you want to earn discourse points by listening to rap. Cool! Good, even! Expand your horizons! Start with some simple things. But also, you're making the assumption that all black or even non-white music is Black American music, maybe you'd like music from Saharan cell phones, or kalimba, or goto, or...

Maybe you want to earn discourse points by telling other people to listen to rap, and that they're bad people for not doing so. O-kay... but you're also losing discourse points by not considering neurodivergence, because the mental barrier to trying a new music can be significantly higher or even physically painful depending on your divergence.

You can't win the discourse war, guys. And you usually have more luck getting people to try things by being enthusiastic and providing links.

Are there any songs that remind you of a certain sjm charachter?

For me whenever I hear Roar by Katy Perry I think of Feyre. Or when I'm listening to Natural by Imagine Dragons Lidia comes into my mind

Oooo! What a fun question, and those are definitely good choices. I'm one of those people who suddenly forgets every song I've ever heard when I'm asked about music but I've listened to these enough times while drawing to at least remember:

Can You Feel My Heart by Bring Me The Horizon always makes me think of Elain. Just Pretend by Bad Omens makes me think of Azriel.

The English translation of Tabi no Tochuu by Natsumi Kiyoura makes me think of Rowan and Aelin. It's about struggling on alone and then finding someone you can face the world with and looking for a better world together. Most anime songs are, but this one is the Rowan and Aelin one.

I listen to such a weird variety of music though that it's always a surprise and a delight when a song matches up to a character I like.

My post canon HC for Princess Tutu is that after Gold Crown is restored the main cast just ends up reforming themselves through a bunch of modern music. Fakir goes from listening to MCR to switching it over to The Killers. Maybe even Paramore (something him and Rue would eventually bond over).
