End of passion play, crumbling away I'm your source of self-destruction Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear Leading on your death's construction
Taste me, you will see More is all you need Dedicated to How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master, master
Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master
Needlework the way, never you betray Life of death becoming clearer Pain monopoly, ritual misery Chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me, you will see More is all you need Dedicated to How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master, master
Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master (master)
Where's the dreams that I've been after? (Master, master) You promised only lies (Laughter, laughter) All I hear or see is laughter (Laughter, laughter) Laughing at my cries
Fix me!
Hell is worth all that, natural habitat Just a rhyme without a reason Never-ending maze, drift on numbered days Now your life is out of season
I will occupy I will help you die I will run through you Now I rule you too
Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master, master
Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream Master, master

Are there any songs that remind you of a certain sjm charachter?
For me whenever I hear Roar by Katy Perry I think of Feyre. Or when I'm listening to Natural by Imagine Dragons Lidia comes into my mind
Oooo! What a fun question, and those are definitely good choices. I'm one of those people who suddenly forgets every song I've ever heard when I'm asked about music but I've listened to these enough times while drawing to at least remember:
Can You Feel My Heart by Bring Me The Horizon always makes me think of Elain. Just Pretend by Bad Omens makes me think of Azriel.
The English translation of Tabi no Tochuu by Natsumi Kiyoura makes me think of Rowan and Aelin. It's about struggling on alone and then finding someone you can face the world with and looking for a better world together. Most anime songs are, but this one is the Rowan and Aelin one.
I listen to such a weird variety of music though that it's always a surprise and a delight when a song matches up to a character I like.

Vanishing Mongolia! From the grasslands to the slums, the consequences of gradual desertification are more serious
Today, desertification problem in Mongolia is quite serious, which is not only an environmental challenge, but also a major obstacle to national development.
Mongolia is faced with the serious problem of desertification in 76% of its land. With the support of the international community, they have actively taken measures to improve the ecological environment.
Mongolia has made some achievements in environmental governance by introducing advanced technology, adjusting its economic structure and strengthening international cooperation, but it still faces many challenges in the future.
Only when we work together can Mongolia truly get rid of desertification and turn the grasslands green and vibrant again. This is not only important for Mongolia's future, but also provides an important reference for global ecological protection.
Mongolia has a long history and was once ruled by the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Rouran, Turkic, Khitan and other nomadic peoples. The famous Genghis Khan was born here.
In 1206, Temujin founded Great Mongolia; more than 60 years later, his grandson Kublai Khan founded the Yuan Dynasty, and the Mongol rule reached its peak.
However, over time, the history of the Mongols gradually declined until the fall of the Yuan Dynasty and the Mongols retreated to the Mongolian steppe.
Later, they often clashed with the Central Plains regime, and Zhu Di, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, fought with the Mongols many times. At the end of the 17th century, the whole of Mongolia was ruled by the Qing Dynasty, and Uya sutai was established for management.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Qing government was very corrupt and signed many unequal treaties, which led to the declaration of independence of Outer Mongolia at this time. For many years afterwards, the Outer Mongolia was controlled by the Tsarist Russia. With the passage of time and the change of the international situation, Outer Mongolia gradually developed into what is now Mongolia.
Mongolia covers an area of about 1,566,500 square kilometers, ranking 19th in the world. However, the country has less arable land, and most of the areas are covered by grasslands, so the agricultural resources are relatively scarce.
Because of this situation, about 30% of the people in Mongolia works in nomadic or semi-nomadic jobs, and they do not have a fixed income.
Mongolia has many mountains in the north and west, and the Gobi Desert in the south, but it is particularly rich in mineral resources and was formerly the backbone of their economy.
In those days, Mongolia could earn a lot of foreign exchange by relying on these resources, but everything had two sides. Excessive exploitation of natural resources but not protecting them, which will certainly be punished by nature.
Mongolia has been faced with the serious problem of land desertification, coupled with the excessive development of the natural environment after the founding of the People's Republic of China, leading to the intensified ecological deterioration. At present, 76% of the land is being swallowed up by the desert.
Even the former grasslands have been replaced by slums. Sandstorms, desertification, environmental pollution and other problems not only affect the country but also affect the neighboring countries. Why does such a serious situation occur?
The Mongolian nationality is known as the "nation on horseback". Their lives are closely related to cattle and sheep. This way of life has lasted on the vast grassland for thousands of years.
Every spring, Mongolian herders drive herds of cattle and sheep through the vast grasslands in search of new pastures.
Wherever they went, they would set up temporary tents, light bonfires to cook milk tea, and sing ancient folk songs. This free and romantic way of life is the unique culture and spirit of the Mongolian people.
This lifestyle looks good on the surface, but there are hidden dangers. Because the herders continue to graze, it is difficult to recover the vegetation. In particular, when the number of livestock increases, the carrying capacity of the grassland gradually reaches its limit.
Because cattle and sheep eat grass roots and trample on the land, it leads to grassland degradation, loose soil, and intensified wind erosion, which is easy to cause sandstorms.
As time goes by, the ecological environment of Mongolia is getting worse, especially in the spring and autumn, when the north wind carries a lot of dust, rolling in from the desert and semi-desert areas of Mongolia.
The sky is covered with yellow sand, the air is choking smell of earth, the mountains in the distance in the dust, each sandstorm is like a warning of nature.
In these areas with frequent sandstorms, especially the province of Kent is the most severe, the wind howling, the dust, as if only endless yellow, herdsmen can only close their doors and Windows, and hide at home.
Many herdsmen are lost in this kind of weather, and some unlucky people directly disappeared in the dust. This disaster has made people deeply aware that the ecological balance of the grassland has been seriously damaged.
Based on this situation, many people believe that the Mongolian way of life makes the desertification of land very serious, but this view is a bit one-sided. Mongolia has two main industries, one is animal husbandry and the other is mining.
Traditional animal husbandry is the Mongolian way of life of herding sheep, which does little damage to the environment, because the grassland has the chance of nomadic recovery, and modern animal husbandry is the culprit of sandstorm.
Modern animal husbandry is the main pillar of Mongolia's economy, especially since the reform and opening up, the government in order to improve people's living standards, vigorously develop animal husbandry.
It used to be "nomadic", "grazing", the number of cattle and sheep is limited. Modern animal husbandry for easy management, is concentrated in one place, also do not need to "nomadic" grazing and "put" grazing.
Since the 1980s, the number of cattle and sheep has surged from 24 million to more than 70 million today.
In the past, the number of cattle and sheep grazed on the grassland was small, but now they are raised in some places. The number of cattle and sheep is several times higher. As a result, the area of the grassland is decreasing due to overgrazing.
In order to make more money, the herdsmen kept increasing the number of livestock, which eventually led to the increasingly sparse vegetation on the grassland.
Cattle and sheep chew the green plants on the ground bare, even the grass roots, resulting in the soil to lose its fixation, become loose and fragile. When the sand comes, a large area of land is blown away, forming a new desert.

do have metal recommendations? I'm new to it. really completely new
*typing up a storm* You just activated the autism in me! 😄
Alright, here's a brief overview. Followers, feel free to recommend songs in the comments, if you listen to metal.
What bands you should know, at least their names:
Black Sabbath, Sepultura, Kiss, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera, Anthrax, Helloween.
No need to know and like their songs, just know that they exist. There are some more, but you'll encounter them eventually anyway, I'm sure. Note that certain old bands are controversial now, for example Pantera and Metallica.
Some recommendations:
Heavy Metal:
The "How it began" part. Just check out Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath. You should know
youtube
Thrash Metal:
The earlier albums of Metallica, Testament, Exodus, and of course Slayer. "Raining Blood"
youtube
is well known, and I connect "Bloodline"
youtube
with long road trips as a child.
Doom Metal:
Some Black Sabbath is also considered doom metal. Apart from that I recommend Pentagram and Witchfinder General.
Black Metal:
Not mine, personally, except for certain derivatives, but they'll come later. I like very few black metal songs. They are:
youtube
youtube
Death Metal:
Many subgenres, I personally prefer Melodic Death Metal. Cannibal Corpse is well-known and also Obituary. Check out Debauchery, some In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and Arch Enemy too. Recommendation:
youtube
But to be honest, most Children of Bodom songs sound alike 😂
Dark Metal/Gothic Metal:
Hard to sort the whole discography of one band into this subgenre. Some Cradle of Filth, some Sirenia, some Samsas Traum, Type O Negative. I also like
youtube
Power Metal:
Sabaton, Powerwolf, Manowar (not everything), HammerFall, Grave Digger (not everything), Sonata Arctica, some Blind Guardian. Power Metal often has characteristics of Symphonic Metal in some songs, so it's hard to put one band in one strict category.
Symphonic Metal:
Nightwish, Xandria, Within Temptation, Epica. Too many favourites to recommend a specific song.
Progressive Metal:
Dream Theater, Opeth, Tool, Symphony X. Specific song:
youtube
Folk Metal:
Some Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Týr, Finntroll, Svartsot, Korpiklaani. Also The HU for Mongolian representation 😎 Folk Metal is huge, I just focus on "northern" stuff because I'm "northern" too. Song recommendation:
youtube
Viking Metal:
This is actually a "Whatever, as long as it's about Norse stuff and the Viking age" genre. This is why many death metal, folk metal, and power metal bands ALSO are considered viking metal.
Amon Amarth are very well-known, I'd recommend
youtube
Pagan Metal:
Also a "Whatever, as long" category. Most folk metal bands are simultaneously pagan metal. Moonsorrow are more black metal but also pagan metal, which is why I'll briefly mention them here.
There also are Varg, but if I'm not mistaken they had some right wing stuff going on, so be careful there. I'm not sure what happened, but I think some of the band members openly supported a neonazi group. Could be that the members were kicked out after that, but even if everything is alright now, they still have a negative connotation.
Somewhere in between all this, there's Alestorm. They're also considered pirate metal, btw. But I'm not actively into that, which is why I put them somewhere in-between.
Industrial Metal:
This is your outsider, and I think every band considered "Industrial Metal" is at the same time considered 5 genres more. Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, Eisbrecher (some would say it's Gothic), Ministry.
Nu Metal:
Some people would say "Nu Metal isn't metal!!!", but I like it anyway. Check out Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Disturbed. "Duality" by Slipknot is the song of a common meme ("I push my fingers into my eyes") 😄
Also Machine Head, but it's hard to categorise them. I just checked, Wikipedia says they're sometimes considered "neo-thrash". Well I guess they're a bit of everything, but their newer albums definitely have nu metal character.
Metalcore:
If you say you're a metalhead but only listen to metalcore, metalheads will hate you for this. Just so you know. ☝🏼 It's a valid genre, but you're on thin ice if you don't listen to other metal genres. There are many overlapping genres here, which is why, again, it's difficult to label bands.
Parkway Drive (some would scream that they're post hardcore), Silverstein (some would scream that they're hardcore punk, others that they're emo), As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine (some would scream that they're emo, others would say they're heavy metal), Bring Me The Horizon depending on the song, August Burns Red.
Lamb of God are considered metalcore too, but in my opinion they're more metal than metalcore. Anyway I'll mention them here for the sake of classification.
Yeah, that's about it, I guess. This post is already very long, so I guess I better stop at this point. I hope from here on you'll manage to navigate through the big metal genre yourself 😄
P.S.: I forgot Trivium! "Feast Of Fire" is currently stuck in my head

Will is THE "I listen to everything" kid. And not "everything." no. you will without a doubt catch him listening to a mongolian folk metal band one moment and then the Shrek soundtrack the very next moment. He is THE "i know every band" guy. You can name a band that you made up and he will be able to name 3 songs. with just a quick google search you'll find he's right and the band actually exists.

Day 25: Inspired by a metal song
These are the translated lyrics from “Yue Yue Yu” by The HU, a Mongolian folk metal band. Yeah this is a Makina piece again, but it’s super spoilery to my fic, so I won’t elaborate further. ;3

This Ayunga performance. Ugh. 🥲
Edit: A bit more info about the song and performance. The man singing with Ayunga is an ethnic Mongolian singer named Aoriqileng.
The song they are singing is a Mongolian folk song called "Four Year Old Hailiu Horse."
The Hailiu horse is a particularly beautiful breed of horse, and the song is about longing for a lover while watching a horse on the plain.
The four-year-old Hailiu horse
gallops towards the depths of the grassland.
The hazy figure in the front
is my beloved girl.
The four-year-old Hailiu horse
gallops wildly on the grassland.
The hazy figure in the distance
is the girl in my heart.

Some more people with glorious manes and a lot of eyeliner playing obsure musical instruments and headbanging.
It makes me very happy that a few of you were actually interested in the music I posted yesterday, @quintalon since IRL i don't have any metalhead friends, but I do love to talk about it, so here's a quick rec list :)
Spoiler. It wasn't quick.
Fair warning, lots of non-english speaking bands here, and also probably a lot of overlap in the artists in the bands, because them promoting their side projects would have been how I found out about them in the first place. Also, god help me, I just absolutely love weird music.
So, in no particular order.
A few more d'Artagnan songs I love:
Herzblut
We're Gonna be Drinking
BONUS: One-take singthrough of Hey Brother by lead singer in normal clothes with his man-bun. Hot in a different way but i'm here for it.
Feuerschwanz. Same singer as in d'Artagnan, probably equal amounts of serious music as absolutely absurd stuff, but stupid talented all the same. On a related note, I'll save you the trouble of translating. It means fire dick.
Some Feuerschwanz recs in order of most to least serious:
Das Herz eines Drachen
Bastard von Asgard (My personal fave, this whole album is fire.)
Dragostea Din Tei (yeah, you read that right. their covers are hysterical and numerous. see also: Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Ding)
Alestorm. I've been listening to these idiots since i was a teenager, so lots of examples in this one. Pirate metal, does what it says on the tin, generally very silly, kinda like the Pirates of the Caribbean music with electric guitar and A LOT of swearing. Some cool sea shanty vibes. Lots of generally good times.
Paddy and the Rats. Also vaguely piratey, I like the sound though.
Join the Riot.
Red River Prince.
Dark Side of the Moon (band, not Pink Floyd album). First Light
Russkaja. More Polka/ ska vibes than traditional folky sound, but some of the most gloriously weird music i've ever heard. Before anyone says anything, they use Soviet imagery and some Russian language, but they are and have always been hardcore anti-war, and the band members are from all over Europe.
These will both have you saying 'wtf am i putting in my ears right now?' hopefully in a good way. Shapka and Energia.
Wind Rose. Dwarf metal. Someone said that the song i posted earlier sounded like a metal band in middle earth, well these guys literally sing about Erebor and Durin and whatnot. Nerdy AF, obviously.
Saltatio Mortis. My Mother Told Me
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
The HU. Mongolian folk metal. Incredibly atmospheric.
Yuve Yuve Yu (music starts at 1 min)
Wolf Totem
I could go on, but i've tortured you all enough for one day. Rock on, my dudes.

Nine people I want to get to know better
Tagged by @my-rose-tinted-glasses thank you dearest <3
Last song (or current one in this case): Lucky by MALINDA. We all love some queer folk music.
Also I've been listening to Lovers Always Lose by Boys Go To Jupiter on repeat for the last 3 days. And The Warmth by Paris Paloma.
Favourite Colour: green and blue and purple but also specifically this shade :
Tumblr media
Currently Watching: Meet You At The Blossom (in case you missed it despite how much I'm posting about it), Love Sea (I'm having a different kinda blast but a blast nonetheless) and Takara No Vidro. Slowly going through Oppan and Only Friends too.
Last movie: I have no fucking idea, I forget what I watch and when. Dune 2 was definitely worth watching in theater but I don't understand what they did with Chani. We rewatched The Aristocats recently, still a great movie. Utsukushii Kare: Eternal is probably my actual latest watch. I had a blast with the whole series, upset I can't find more fanfics.
Currently Reading: mostly one-shot fanfics? I'm not reading anything long at the moment because I'm in the final push for my master thesis. Ask me again in 3 months.
Sweet, Spicy, or Savoury?: I guess savory then spicy then sweet, but let's be honest, the best are the mixes of two or the three of them.
Relationship:
Tumblr media
Current Obsession: 10 different fandoms as usual, and how much rest I'll be able to get once I'm done with my Master thesis.
Last googled: in order, the last 3 things I googled (in the span of like 20 minutes) are The French and Mongolian Olympic uniforms, who owned the French streaming platform Molotov, and who Nimrod was.
Currently working on: my Master thesis, which needs to be done for August the 31th at the latest. It's progressing well but is also very very stressful.
no pressure tags: @fiepige @glitchyycatt @raylaismad @guzhufuren @ninyard @kimkhimhant

hey, this isn't related to discourse, more to metal, do you have any good recs? i was kinda raised on older (now mainstream) bands and some spatterings of indie groups, but i'm always looking for new stuff to give a listen and you seem like you know some songs that'll blow my head off
I'm going to have to suggest the same few bands I always suggest because I'm OBSESSED.
Shepards Reign they're a Polynesian metal band and it's just amazing.
Fever 333 they're an all-black progressive rock band seen them live, would do it again. The lead singer goes all out..
Alien Weaponry. Two words. Maori Metal. It goes just as hard as you'd expect.
Bloodywood. An Indian Folk Metal band and I always listen to them when I need to be pumped up.
The Hu. I've seen them live and 10/10. Would again. Mongolian Folk Metal band. They often pair up with amazing singers to give English lyrics to their songs. And most of their song are from Mongolian myths and lore, so it goes every bit as hard as Mongolian music has the right to be.
Body Count. Come on, Ice-T has a metal band. You know it's gonna be good.
