to anyone who plays genshin: which nation would you most likely want to reside in?

i’ve been thinking about it and my answer would be, from the four nations i know of right now: mondstadt! no, not bcs diluc resides there lmao it’s bcs mondstadt is centered around the phenomenon of ‘freedom’. i feel like the citizens there are more free spirited individuals than anywhere else (or at least for the most part). i, myself find the concept of freedom very important, which is why i would most likely reside there

the least likely would be either inazuma or sumeru. i don’t like all the restrictions of inazuma. it gives me ‘dictator’ vibes and hell nah, that ain’t for me. i would get arrested so fast bcs i don’t have a fucking filter and i don’t like to have rules imposed on me. as for sumeru, it’s either giant forests or the deserts. i wouldn’t be able to handle the climate of the deserts and the forests gives me the hibby jibbies thinking of how big certain crawlies (spiders) would be. it’s a big nope from me 🥲

Safe At Last

You managed to survive another nation’s encounters. First Mondstadt, and then Liyue. Hopefully Inazuma won’t be bad.

You can’t exactly make a raft, so your best bet is to steal a rowboat from Liyue Harbor. Before that though, you’d have to wait for night. You hid in a forest near Liyue, but you got caught by a hilichurl patrolling.

To your surprise, the hilichurl didn’t attack. If beckoned you to follow it, and you did, because screw your life at this point. While accompanying it, you noticed that it also gathered other hilichurls, slimes, a select few rifthounds, and even a Geo Hypostasis, which you simply stared in awe at.

Eventually, you and the group returned to the Hilichurl camp, where you noticed two other notable figures. An Abyss Mage...

...And a very familiar blond-haired woman wearing a red-trimmed jacket, a Siberian Tiger accompanying her.

“Hello there, создатель.“

All you could do was open your mouth in shock, unsure of what to say.

According to the ancient scrolls you’ve read in the past one-and-a-half hours or so, apparently you were the divine creator of Teyvat. However, you were also the creator of Europe as well. You assumed that this was because you had downloaded the two games, technically making you their creator. You also found out this takes place after the events of the campaigns.

When you were chased out of Teyvat, it responded to your fear. Certain individuals from Europe were thrown into the continent with a portal being established between the two worlds.

Olga read a list of notable people who were sent in, and you noticed some very recognizable names.

Anna Kos, Lech Kos, Michal Sikorsky, Olga Romanova/Morozova, Victor Popov (which you know as Janek Kos), Lev Alekseevich Zubov, Gunter von Duisburg, Frida Ruete, Kaiser Wilhelm III, Prince Wilhelm, Sita al-Hadid, William Mason, Admiral Mason, Tsar Nicholas II, and Randolph Wells.

Seems like some people had gotten revived to Teyvat.

You also found out you had several divine powers. Firstly, you could channel abilities into weapons. You then mentioned that you shot your anti-mech cannon at Zhongli’s boulder, breaking it into pieces.

“That is the gunner power of yours. You can channel your powers into the anti-mech cannon, allowing for a burst of twelve power shots against your adversaries.“

Secondly, you could apparently use divine communication to sense those loyal to you, no matter how far. However, you can only maintain this communication for a limited amount of time, and it would grow stronger the more you resonate with Teyvat and Europe.

After figuring everything else, Olga presented you with a gift from Saxony.

The two of you walked slightly away from the camp to walk to a large object covered by a tarp. The group of monsters followed you as well.

“Go ahead and unveil it.“ Olga said to you, a warm smile on her face. “Saxony’s greatest engineers made it just for you.“

You removed the tarp, and inside was a PKP 17 Eisenhans exoskeleton.

It bore everything from its mortar backpack to its battering ram. However, its mortar tubes, helmet, and pauldrons were gold. The body frame was a powerfully dark gray. The boots were jet black, and the lenses were a crystal blue.

“Do you want to try it on?“ Olga asked you.

“...Sure.“ You hesitantly responded back.

“Alright. Let me help you.“

Olga helped you as she opened up the chest cavity of the exoskeleton (I think that’s how you enter the suit, I don’t know) as you entered the bulky suit, moving around its arms which are assisted by pistons and joints. You closed the suit shut and moved around with it.

“How do you feel, your grace?“

“...I feel... new. Powerful. Like I can take on all of Teyvat and survive.“

diluc (22) the young owner of the family bar. also the reason why venti is still Alive and will gladly do it if it means venti attracts customers. he has seen aether’s content at least twice in his life and will never recover.

zhongli (29) is a returning college student who’s going back for business related purposes. venti introduces him to aether and almost manages to ruin his life because he asks Venti Of All People when it came to asking about his content. aether will die for him with his legs open

childe (23) is another rich boy college student who has very Sketchy connections (rumors say that he’s part of the russian mafia, even if he’s italian)  and hangs out with aether regularly. he supports his onlyfans and they actually Do sleep together sometimes

You were getting along with the two of them, but none of them were interesting into getting along with each other, kaeya kept poking fun at diluc and diluc kept getting annoyed by him

In your world you used to loce theur dybamics, they were your mains and you often put the two of them in the same room in your teapot

And after being friend for a while diluc ended up dating you

When things started to get serious you told him that you weren't from this world, that you were a civilian who just ended up in their favorite video game

And you also explained what a videogame is

He seemed interested and you got on with your story, you didn't enter the lore part, it was like predicting the futur at this point since nobody seemed to know the traveller yet

But you told him that at some point in the game you get a cute little house and you can put fournitures and also some of your characters in it

He asked if he was there, he knew already that you loved his character in game, along kaeya but he decided to ignore that part

When you happily told him that yes, kaeya and him were there, and they were sharing a room, he was annoyed

He asked more detail such as, is there enough furnitures so he don't have to share his stuff with kaeya

You told him that yes, you choose the biggest room in your house excluding the hall but even if you gave them everything twice so there won't be problem of sharing there is only one thing you didn't have the space to have in multiple exemplary

And it was the bed

Diluc huffed hearing that, stating that in you video game kaeya was then probably sleeping on the floor somewhere because he wouldn't let him have one inch of the bed

You plafully hit his arm telling him to be nicer, as you often did when you were between them

He don't like the perspective of sharing with kaeya, even if it's just an imaginary world on your phone, console or computer, if he even know what that is

But if it make you happy he'll let you be and indulge you

He isn't going to really sleep with kaeya though

i am obsessed with master of the knights kaeya and even more obsessed with kaeya who serves khaenri’ah PLEASE elaborate more on your worms if you feel obliged

!!! AAA I’m glad you liked the designs hehe, YES SURE I CAN ELABORATE!! I thought about these 2 designs like the 2 futures Kaeya could have. A future with the knights and Mond or with Khaenri’ah and whatever is happening over there.  This may get a bit long but ill try to explain my brainworms in a coherent way. Also, English is not my first language, so if there is any confusion please tell me and I can try to tell it in another way.

So, first, I think the 5-star version of Kaeya MUST have both eyes uncovered. This is because I think if we ever DO get it, it will be like an ascension of sorts. Kaeya has the recurring theme that he hides a lot of things from everyone. He hides his true feelings, his thoughts and his true personality behind layers and LAYERS of lies. The only time he ever showed his true self his brother tried to kill him, he even looks at his vision as a reminder to never try to do it again. So, my point is that if he does get a 5-star version it will be when he accepts every part of himself and shows his true self to everyone. Therefore, I think he would be without his eyepatch. The loss of it represents the loss of his mask, both figuratively and literally.

Another thing to note is that Kaeya’s constellation is a peacock. There are a lot of different meanings to this but one that stuck out to me is this:

“Hindu motifs expose the peacock as a symbol of the unconscious; for, what is in one’s subconscious can be illuminated by the consciousness, starting the emergence of one’s true individuality.”

This adds to what I first said about the loss of his eyepatch. What I want to get from this is that in Kaeya’s case, the peacock could mean his struggles with his identity and how he expresses and views himself. So, his ascension to a 5-star could be his decision to be true to himself and chose to support the nation that he wants, be it Mondstadt or Khaenri’ah without regrets or second thoughts. In his vision story its mentioned how coming clean about his lies was the first time he felt like himself, like he was not holding back who he truly was. So, I believe Kaeya will not be able to be a 5-star or, in-story become stronger, until he comes clean to everyone about who he truly is.

Because of all of this, I thought about making two designs instead of just one, since I feel like either choice could represent himself coming out of his shell and showing his individuality.

So, now that I explained my reasoning as to why I made 2 designs, here is my thought process for each one!

Mondstadt

My first design thought for a 5-star Kaeya is that he would wear his vision on his heart. For me this is him showing that he does not see his vision as a reminder to always live a life full of lies, but as a reminder to stay true to himself and live in a way that he feels happy with. It also, of course, represents his loyalty to Mondstadt, the land that gave him said vision.

He also gets to keep his lovelock! This hairstyle is said to “show devotion to a loved one”, in this case the loved one would be Mondstadt and its people. And I also feel like it could be a nod to Crepus, his late adoptive father. We know that Kaeya loved Crepus and is part of the reason he had such complex feelings about who to side with since he adopted him and showed him love in a land he had never been to and probably didn’t want to go as a child. So, I thought it would be nice that his lovelock could also represent his love for his family.

Another thing I thought about was that a 5-star Kaeya would probably be introduced in the late game, so this means that in the future, Jean will probably be Grand Master of the knights. This is because I think it is foreshadowed by Mona on her voiceline about Jean:

“You mean the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius? Her constellation is Leo Minor, which represents strength and responsibility shouldered too young... Though the lioness has been separated from her pride for a long time, she grows from strength to strength, and the day will come when she is ready to return as its glorious leader.”

If its true that Jean will become Grand Master, then Kaeya would probably follow her and become Master of the Knights since he is her right-hand-man and Jean respects him a lot. This would also go well with the theme that Kaeya would act like his true self. Throughout his whole life, Kaeya has been a character that always acts in the background/shadows. He works and goes to assignments more than anybody else and does a lot of things, while only being supposedly the Cavalry Captain. This also happened when he was young and Diluc was still in the Knights. He worked in the shadows so Diluc could pass through any circumstance without any problems. What I want to get with this, is that Kaeya works a job that is not at face-value recognized. So, him being the Master of the Knights, a well respected and recognized title, seems fitting. Also, I just really like the idea of Jean and Kaeya climbing the ladder together and being a power team hehe.

Because of this, I think that Kaeya would borrow elements of Jean’s design like her corset thingy, her gloves, and finally the Knights official symbol. Since in this design his loyalty is to Mondstadt, he now feels free to put elements of the city on how he dresses!

One final thought about the Mond design (this doesn’t have anything to do with the design) is that I like to thing that in the endgame when Jean and Kaeya are Grand Master and Master, Diluc would look at them and say to them that he doesn’t think the Knights are incompetent anymore ;u; kind of like, “I’m proud of you two” moment.

Khaenri’ah

Oof so now to the angstier route, Kaeya chooses Khaenri’ah over Mondstadt and joins Dainsleif and co. on the quest to challenge the gods. The first thing I feel he would do is cut his lovelock. The lovelock hairstyle comes originally from Europe and Mondstadt is a Germany-based nation, so the cutting of it symbolizes his separation from Mondstadt and his adoptive family. His sense of duty meaning more to him than the love he received from the city, the knights, and his family.

His vision is kept on the side like in his original design. In his voicelines, he mentions that a vision is a mere tool to control the elements. It has no other meaning; in this route he does not give it any meaning at all since Khaenri’ah hates the gods, the vision is nothing more than a tool to complete his nation’s goals. Instead, what is on his heart is a star, a symbol representative of Khaenri’ah.

His outfit on this design resembles more Dainsleif’s and has a lot of star-shaped elements. His peacock cape is replaced by one more reminiscent of Dainsleif’s and he keeps some elements of his original design like the gloves and the cuffs of his sleeves. I kind of wanted to give the vibe of a royal. Peacocks also can represent royalty, so in this design his confidence and individuality stems from his duty to protect his homeland from the gods. I believe Kaeya does have royal blood from the Blacksun dynasty and it’s represented by all the gold elements and his shawl thingy.

I get a little sad thinking about this design because I feel like Jean and Diluc would just be… absolutely heartbroken by this decision. Imagining a battle between the three really breaks my heart lmao. I feel like it would be worse than the fight Diluc and Kaeya had when they were young. This battle would be complex on both sides. Jean and Diluc would see their former friend and brother working against the city that brought him so much happiness. Kaeya would be heartbroken too, having to attack his brother and his close friend. If Mihoyo does have Kaeya choose Khaenri’ah, and they decide to attack Mondstadt. Man™ its going to be REALLY sad. In this route I 100% believe that one of the three will die.

An open letter to Hoyoverse

about the current state of Genshin Impact, 2 years into it's lifespan.

I remember walking down the first hill between the small little cliffs of Mondstadt thinking "wow, this game has so much in store in the future." Time and time again I have waited in anticipation of the next update for the reveal of the next part of the lore. However, with 3.2 at our door, in 2022, I feel sort of let down and dissapointed by where the future of the game is heading.

Spare your breath, I am not one of those obnoxious gamer people who copy the opinions of their favourite misogynistic gamer youtuber. Instead, I have been rather optimistic of the game concidering I don't treat it like a triple A title, but rather a game I play on my off days. Even so, I have spent a good chunk of my time ingame with my internet friends. I have also a bunch of gacha mobas under my belt, so I am no stranger to the gacha game genre. For example I have played multiple Idol rythm mobas like Idolm@ster games, Bang dream, project sekai but especially Lovelive School Idol Festival. I also have played the magia record game albeit illigal concidering it was region locked to north america and I live in Europe. (I'm still mad at that company. they currently also hold princess connect in ransom. But thats a subject for another day)

Knowing I have been playing these games for more than a decade, I can provide good level headed insight and critisism.

To be honest, I expected you would improve the game over time. The clunky animations during story quests really throw me off. And we know you can do better, because your new games do it. minimal movement and usage of idle animations of characters looks cheap, and I do not like it. Especially when you expect me to go through a multiple hour quest line.

Now onto NPC models. At first I thought that the characters who do not have a flashed out design do not own a vision, but the archon quest in Inazuma tells us otherwise. Why is it then that every single NPC character looks exactly the same with small iterations between nations? I can hardly tell which character is who. And I certainly do not remember anyone from any world quest we've ever done. Dunyarzad from the recent archon quest for example. She is sort of an important character and yet she looks like Sara from good hunter but with arabian attire. I understand this is in place to not needlessly make the game gigantic in size, but surely you can come up with a different idea?

Speaking of the multiple hour quest line. One thing you have to know about me is that I have auditory processing disorder. I find it difficult to understand when there is audio but no text, but also the other way around. My gremlin brain cannot sit through hours of questline content without audio. I am skipping through all of those walls of text.

Powercreep of characters. I assume we all know what that means. Personally as a casual player who doesn't do many numbers with my characters anyway, I don't really feel it's effect yet. But I cannot deny that obviously Kokomi is a stronger Barbara and so on. I would've loved to have a stronger Lisa because I love her as a character, but she seems to not hold up in the slightest next to characters like Raiden. That fact makes me sad. And I wish something could be done about that. I am a Ganyu main, and I hope to GOD she isn't getting the same kind of treatment. You better do something about this Hoyo. I know you are aware.

Now then, about the interview published a few days ago. It dissapointed me the most. Not only do you admit to not wanting to listen to any of us, but you really dont want to improve your game do you? No, I am not playing Honkai Impact. I tried playing it ages ago but I couldn't get into it because the amount of content I had to consume in order to catch up was extremely overwhelming. And guess what? the same is happening in Genshin Impact. Do you expect us to hop games then? am I expected to leave Genshin behind and instead play Zenless Zone Zero because the quality of the game is just so much better? No. I am passionate about this game. I am and I always will be. Which is why me and so many others feel so dissapointed and let down.

The game is so breath takingly beautiful, and yet here we are. thrown to the wayside because we are expected to play Hoyo's little baby.

I don't know how long I am able to keep playing this game anymore. I will return everytime, of course. But right now the future isn't what I and many others had hoped for. I am saddened and dissapointed. Fix your game hoyoverse. Listen to your consumer base. We were the ones that basically built your company from the ground up. So I expect at least some concideration or transperancy.

In the first hours of playing the game, I didn't think it would ever turn out this way. I expected so much more. I wished for so much wonderful things from this game. But we are stuck in an endless filler episode with no awnser from Hoyoverse.
