so, i hit 1k sometime in the beginning of June ✨🥳. Which means my incessant yapping about absolutely nothing on every post I make and multiple months-long unannounced hiatuses didn't scare all of you off yet, so thanks for that y'all.

No, but for real tho, I genuinely want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for putting up with me and all my BS, so my 1k+ gift exclusively consists of hairs requested by YOU!  Which is totally about giving back to the community that has supported me and NOT just an excuse to dump all the requests that have been sitting here piling up for months.

due to how the meshes where made the Poloma Passion Twists and Monae Beads don't have root/tip controls so they’re only 2 channels the rest are 4 like normal.

Aladdin Mona V2 converted to TS2 by RascalCurious –in Poppet V2 and mesh edit

I used Poppet’s v2 natural and unnatural colours + BerryNooboos’ cosmic, Wyxii’s mint, Furbyq’s afterglow and PMG’s amphitrite. Texture blended with Nouk’s Afro texture. For mesh edit I lowered the hair to be closer to the scalp as this is my preference (difference shown below). I didn’t make it into a new completely mesh so you can still get RascalCurious’ original mesh instead if you prefer.

Polycount 6k; female frame; teen-elder; all categories; grey binned to black; all natural colours binned in 1 file; my edited mesh included; files compressed

4to3 - GiuliettaSims Mona Glasses

BOY THOSE ARE SO STYLISH I've been anxiously waiting for this to come out of early access so I could convert 😍

They're all fully recolurable, the only difference is one has recolourable lenses (way easier to do that than I thought) and the other has regular transparent lenses because Why Not right 🤷‍♀️

As usual they look a bit weird in CAS but are fine in game.

What Is: Bamboo Dock

This post/info was originally written by Silvia. I have made updates where needed for new information or clarity.

Bamboo Dock is a useful little application which allows you to store shortcuts to applications and also helps you manage your Wacom Bamboo tablet.

Support for Bamboo Dock was discontinued in April 2016 and is no longer available for download on the Wacom website. The same applies to the so-called Minis - the custom applications that were available for download through the Dock. The software is still free, and using, sharing, or hosting the files is not illegal.

The purpose of this Tumblr is to host tutorials of how to install the Bamboo Dock and its Minis as well as to provide useful information on the software as far as my limited abilities and knowledge allow.

If you are using Bamboo Dock and have Minis installed that aren’t available in the linked download(s), I would be grateful if you let me know and possibly provide a copy of the Mini files so that it can be uploaded and made available for download freely.

Below is a list of all Minis available for download and their descriptions.

Default Minis- these come with Bamboo Dock and do not need to be added.

Landmarker: connects to a map server and allows you to draw on top of the map and save the image. (Currently Broken)

Mona Lisa: upload your image or take a photo, and then distort or draw on it. The deafult image to play with is the Mona Lisa.

Bamboo Paper: create digital notebooks with plain, graph, or lined paper. Allows for multiple notebooks to be created and saved.

Free the Bird: draw blocks to control the direction of a bounced ball to hit a birdcage and free the bird. 10 levels.

Input Panel: brings up a keyboard on-screen to type with your tablet.

Additional Minis- these Minis require following the tutorial to add them.

Doodler: For making random notes on your computer or small doodles. It has a variety of writing instruments, is very light and smooth and easy to use.

iNudge: allows you to create a loop of electronic music using a pattern board. It’s very relaxing and doesn’t require any musical knowledge.

DoodleBlast: an ink-type game in which you have to draw lines in order to ensure the rocks will fall into the jar.

MoodTuner: connects you to a random radio station when you choose a color to represent your mood. (Currently Broken)

Mah Jongg: classic mahjong game with 10 different levels to choose from and pleasant background music.

PaperCakes: a logic game where you manipulate a sheet of paper by folding or flipping it. Your goal is to help Doodle - a magical drawing who really wants some cake.

Livebrush: a simple yet functional vector-based drawing application that uses motion-based technology to create a very smooth drawing experience. Not formally a Mini, but included.

Aura Versus Accessibility - Reproduced Artwork

With a simple Google search, you can find yourself a printable version of any Van Gogh painting for your home. There’s no need to travel to MoMA or the Louvre Museum to see iconic artworks, instead you can just purchase them and enjoy them from the comfort of your own couch.

But, after framing and hanging this reproduced piece of art, we understand that this is definitely not the same as the authentic piece of work that we may know and love - it looks the same, may even be scaled to the same size, but something is off. According to Walter Benjamin, what we are lacking with our Google-downloaded print file is the aura of the original artwork.

Behind any highly valued artwork is the intention put in by the artist. For example, sticking to Van Gogh, that intention could’ve been his brush strokes on a canvas. Other intentions could be in location, in scale, in immersiveness, etc. Reproducing an artwork displaces its aura.

By displacing an aura, the original traditional artwork does not lose its value. The Starry Night is still the Starry Night, despite the fact that college dorms all over the world have it hanging in their entryways. There’s a reason that people flock to The Museum of Modern Art to experience the piece in person. The surreal feeling of its aura continuously brings people in and for this reason, no amount of reproduction can devalue the original painting. 

Walter Benjamin states that the mechanical reproduction of an artwork changes its cultural context. This is true and this can pinpoint where we lose the aura - the Mona Lisa in your kitchen is not contextually the same as the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. It’s safe to say that the experience has a large factor on the aura of an artwork. The cultural value we place on these artists and artworks help to build up this immense respect we have for the original pieces. So, this culturally (and even socially) constructed value surrounding the artworks is what differentiates the original piece from its reproduction, and also the reason why reproductions are even deemed acceptable. To grow so much respect and desire for pieces of artwork to the extent that they are so widely accessible demonstrates the value of the original pieces. As Walter Benjamin states the original piece does not lose its “uniqueness” but of course the value of the reproduction is far lower. 

I’d even argue that reproductions of artworks further the desire to see the original pieces in person. We see a version of a reproduction of artwork when we look at a high-res image of that artwork on our computer screens. We learn about art and the cultural context of it and once we finally see it in its entirety, it’s an entirely different experience. I’ve never seen the Mona Lisa in person but I have a clear image in my head of what it looks like - this is due to the accessibility of it. People explain the surrealness of seeing it in person, even how “her eyes follow you.” Can we say that if the Mona Lisa was just explained and the only way to see it was to travel to Paris, that it would be valued as much? I think the engraved image in our minds of the painting combined with the high cultural value we place on it create this desire to see it in person and experience its aura for ourselves. Without the accessibility aspect, learning about it could diminish the desire (at least for a visual learner) to see it in person.

��         They didn't. And perhaps that was what was most infuriating about this encounter.

          Oh, Mona had already put the pieces together — clearly, this was Aether's lost sister she'd heard so much (and yet so little) about. The resemblance was all-too striking. Not to mention the way she couldn't get a read on her fate, either. The stars she could read had nothing readable to say about either of them. Whether it was because their fate was so tenuous and ever-changing that each second that passed altered their fate or the sheer fact that they didn't belong here, nothing changed that it was so unfamiliar and frustrating her, to view the stars and not be able to see what lay within.

          ❝ ...I don't know, ❞ she finally answers quietly, a small shake of her head accompanying the answer. ❝ That's the funny thing, about you and Aether. I can see whose fates yours connect to....but nothing else. ❞
