***Varian being threatened***

Rapunzel: *moves in front of Varian, undoing her hair*

Bad guy: Aww, Mommy’s protecting you. How sweet.

Rapunzel: I’m not his mom!

Cassandra: To be fair, you do act like it a lot.

Rapunzel: Well—so what? We’re a family. We look after our own.

Eugene: Yeah that’s great, but could we maybe focus on the problem at hand, people?

This piece of dialogue’s been sitting on my computer as part of one of my canon divergent fics waiting for me to get the rest of the fic written. But I just came across this gorgeous piece of fanart and it started me thinking about those of my fics with Rapunzel going all maternal on Varian, and ended up deciding to share this on here now. Because why not.

(For the record, Raps and Varian have become my brotp and the vast majority of my fic ideas feature them with a sibling-like or parental-like bond.)

Heyo I finished another art-trade, this time for the lovely @space–butterflies who wanted more Dadgene content (I did try and surprise by adding some Mumpunzel too!)

Usually I check colours by Dming them to myself but my phones dead so here’s hoping they’re ok

So, I've said before that I don’t really care for "Varian + Mompunzel" concepts(mainly because they're only 4 years apart in age, and I prefer their relationship as being sibling-esque.) 

But there is actually one exception to this rule. And that's Varian sarcastically referring to Rapunzel as "Mom" when she's nagging him, just to push her buttons:

"Oh- Varian, be careful handling that, it's very hot!"

"*eyeroll* Thanks for the advice, Mom. I'll be sure to wear an extra pair of gloves over the two I’m already wearing."

"*hands on hips* Do NOT make me come over there and give you a piece of my mind, mister!"

“It’s just a dream, Varian; it isn’t real!” There was no way whatever he was dreaming about was pleasant-- not with the way he’d been crying out. Pascal crawled down Rapunzel’s arm in order to offer his own help in the form of sticking his tongue into Varian’s ear. “Please, wake up!”
