and, relevant: i cannot take the so called progressives and leftists up here who have no fucking clue what life is like outside of their bougie hippie world. they're so classist and elitist it's draining. and i catch it more and more often every day. they think they're so woke and enlightened and they're actually all terrible people. if i have to read/hear one more person make some play on words that's like "poor/'bad' side of town + name of state in the deep south" or make some joke about xyz southern deserving some political or natural devastation because they're all dumb and/or conservatives i'm actually going to start throwing punches. turns out pawpaw was right; fuck them fancy liberal arts colleges.
i think. i'm going to dedicate this next year to sorting out the things i've been meaning to sort out. then i have to go back south. maybe not home. who am I kidding, definitely not home that's a death wish, but. somewhere nearby. georgia, maybe. it won't be too different and there's a thriving queer community, at least in/near altanta.

if you want to decolonize palestine where do you want the jews to go?
Decolonialization does not equal expulsion!
Implying that the Jewish people have no other place than the settler colonialist project of Israel is. Weird! I think Jewish people should be accepted wherever they are, actually, and that implying that Jewish people aren't safe unless Israel exists is perpetuating antisemetic thought processes.
I also support the decolonialization of the United States, and I live here! I'd just rather pay taxes to the Kalapuya, Molalla, or other indigenous groups from my area instead of our current dogshit government.
But I am just some white guy with a blog! I do not have all the answers!

A collection of red jaspers from the Molalla River in Canby on June 12, 2019. Strange that I wouldn't collect any agate or petrified wood on a trip here, but I gotta believe my bucket labels. One of my all time favorite pieces of Jasper is in this lot, a wild plumey red yellow and BLACK Jasper with agate running throughout and cool crystal pockets. And of course, a great example of what I call "fake gem dino bone" which is pretty self explanatory. Other jaspers from that trip coming up next #rock #rocks #silica #rockhounding #oregon #rockhound #geology #agate #agates #quartz #crystal #crystals #mineral #minerals #collection #earth #geo #nature #pnw #pacificnorthwest #mining #digging #jasper #molallariver #clackamascounty https://www.instagram.com/p/CmIhX4erFuy/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Appaloosa is a horse breed associated historically with the Nez Perce (Niimipu) Tribe. The name may originate from “a Palouse,” which referred to the region where the horses were bred. It is likely that these horses originally came from a variety of Spanish horses—so-called spotted horses—that were traded into the Northwest by the mid to late eighteenth century. The horses were then bred by the Nez Perce.
The Appaloosa is also known as the Nez Perce Horse. The first documented reports of horses in Oregon are in the journals of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who noted spotted horses similar to the Appaloosa among the Nez Perce Tribe.
The Nez Perce valued the Appaloosa for its intelligent temperament, sure-footedness, endurance, and speed. They required their horses to negotiate the treacherous trails from their winter quarters in the Wallowa Valley of eastern Oregon through the Rocky Mountains to the summer encampments on the Plains. The horses were fast enough to catch a bison and paso fino—that is, smooth-gaited—enough to allow a hunter to fire with accuracy from a full gallop.
The original Nez Perce Appaloosa nearly died out after the Nez Perce War in 1876, when the U.S. military confiscated the Tribe’s herds. A few of the breed survived into the twentieth century, however, and in the 1930s horsemen in eastern Oregon worked to revive it. As a modern horse breed, the Appaloosa is distinctive for its mottled skin, visible sclera (the white outer layer of the eye), and vertical-striped hooves.
The Appaloosa is one of the most distinctive and valued American horse breeds in the world. The Nez Perce Tribe and other horse ranchers in the region are continuing to develop the desirable traits that were bred into the original breed in the nineteenth century.
