gwen, from the very beginning, has always been on the side of the order. she wasn’t told about the order explicitly while growing up but she learned more as she got older. by the time she got to hogwarts gwen was fully aware of what the order was and knew to keep it secret. her mother kept her safe from the wars as best as she could, but she joined the order the summer before her seventh year and dumbledore’s army immediately after it was formed. her stance has not changed and never will, no matter how much she’s been through.

where have they been living for the past year:

gwen still loves on the isle of skye, in the small druidic community her mother raised her in. the community has been so isolated from other parts of the magical community that it’s completely safe for her to live in.

important character information/bio:

marlene mckinnon spent most of her seventh year very secretly pregnant, only revealing it to a few friends while still in school. the moment she graduated she was able to admit why she was so weird the last few months of school. on july 21st she gave birth to gwen dearborn, her first and only child. she wasn’t in love with caradoc dearborn. in fact he was just a short fling. nevertheless he ended up being one of the most important people in her life. despite how young they both were, caradoc was thrilled to be a father. they moved in together, figuring it would be a lot easier to be parents under the same roof.

as time went on marlene formed a relationship with dorcas meadowes, one of her older sister’s best friends. caradoc had his own relationship and they decided it was better for him to move out and for dorcas to move in instead. the three of them coparented gwen together and she was happy. there was a war raging all around her, all three of her parents involved in it, but she didn’t know. they did their best to keep all of that secret from the young girl.

unfortunately war has a way of touching everyone. things happened slowly, then all at once. her father, caradoc, stopped coming around. she was too young to even ask where her father was, not even a year old when he disappeared. then came july 2003 and the mckinnon family dinner. dorcas couldn’t make it, having to work late on an order mission. gwen was down for a nap when all hell broke loose. she doesn’t remember any of it and mother rarely talks about it. she knows that everyone in her family was murdered that night, that her mother had to witness her own mother and her brothers and sisters all die. it was a miracle marlene got out in the first place.

her childhood was green. trees and bushes and flowers and vines grew all over the town she called home on the isle of skye. she lived in the forest with her mother, not too far from town. everyone called her mother moira and gwen just accepted that it must be some sort of nickname. by the time she was six or seven, old enough to be asking a lot of questions, marlene sat her down and explained things in the most basic way she could. they were hiding from very bad people and her mom had to use a fake name to keep them safe.

the only people she knew very well were the townsfolk and the weasleys. she became best friends with the twins from a young age, always happy to be pulling stupid pranks with them. she called molly and arthur her aunt and uncle. the weasleys became her family. they were the only people marlene trusted with her daughter.

by the time she got to school gwen knew virtually everything about how destructive the war was to her family. it stole her father, her stepmother, her uncle james, the entire mckinnon family. once in school she started to learn how it had destroyed vritually every other family she’d come into contact with. no one escaped the war her mother had protected her from.

gwen was sorted into gryffindor, something that only made her feel closer to the family that had been stolen from her. most of them had been in that house over hundreds of years. it was a little thing that made her feel like she belonged no matter what. and within gryffindor house she found more friends that became her own sort of family.

being at school was her favourite thing until her third year. harry potter showed up that year, a kid she knew but had never met. her mother told her about him, her cousin’s kid she could do nothing to help. instead of telling him who she was, gwen pulled away, not able to justify being close to him. it only made things harder when he became best friends with ron. he was always around after that and she couldnt avoid him the way she wanted to. with each new year came new things getting worse and worse. the chamber of secrets opened in her fourth year and the girl she saw as a little sister got manipulated by the dark lord. in her fifth year sirius black showed up and her favourite teacher was actually her mom’s ex, the one she always talked about. in sixth year came the triwizard tournament.

her seventh year, and the summer before, became the most eventful year of her life. marlene decided it was finally time to come out of hiding. so, with a few words to molly, she was invited to 12 grimmauld place for an order meeting. she reunited with her old friends and gwen had to have an awkward talk with her little cousin. once her seventh year officially started gwen knew she had to do something. being in the order now was great, but action had to be taken. once harry formed dumbledore’s army she joined immediately, happy to help in whatever way she could.

after graduating gwen took on an apprenticeship with a small herbology school in scotland, working to hone the skill she was best with. she began growing very dangerous plants for potions for the order, and given her unqiue abilities it came naturally to her. she dedicated herself to the order and to fighting. during the battle of hogwarts she was taken by surprise, resulting in her mother sacrificing herself life to save her. since then gwen has been busy doing everything possible to make her mother proud.

Whump-/Flufftober - Day 25: Hide & Seek | escape | flight

“Get to the Burrow”, Mad-Eye ordered. “We’ll rendezvous there.”

Asteria clasped her wand, her knuckles turning red against her pearl-white skin. Her eyes wandered around the street. Lined up, ready to lift off were seven Potters, six decoys and one real one, each with their protector. Mundungus Fletcher, protected by Mad-Eye. Fleur, protected by Bill, riding a Thestral. Hermione was with Kingsley Shacklebolt. Ron, who was still turning up his nose every few seconds because the glasses he had to wear were irritating him, had been paired with Tonks. She nodded at Asteria encouragingly. Asteria barely managed to turn up her lips into the slightest smile. She had to betray them. All of them. And they all knew. Two of the Potters were looking directly at her: Fred and George who were being protected by Mr Weasley and Remus respectively. They didn’t say a word and exactly that was what was so terrifying. Neither of them joked. It seemed that seeing her in her death eater uniform hit a nerve in them that made them more serious than she had ever thought possible. But what scared her the most was the fact that she would have to actually attack them. She would have to pick one of the teams and make an actual effort to take them out of the sky, otherwise she would quickly be identified as a traitor. At the very least she would have to narrowly miss.

“On the count of three!”

There was no going back now.

“One!”

Asteria put on her hood.

“Two!”

She took a deep breath and put on her death eater mask. Immediately, she could feel the confundus charm gripping her. All of her inhibitions on attacking someone went out of the window. She was becoming someone else.

“Three!”

She was now Moira Lestrange. Brooms, thestrals and Sirius’s old motorbike zoomed past her. She pointed her wand to the sky and yelled:

“Morsmordre!”

Out of the sky, a giant skull of emeralds emerged, a snake winding itself out of its mouth. She grabbed her broomstick and zoomed up into the clouds. As soon as she broke through, she was caught in a raging mess of spells and death eaters on broomsticks chasing the different Potters. Immediately, a grim feeling gripped her stomach. This was where Mad-Eye would find his demise. but it barely moved her, if even at all. her eyes darted around behind her mask, looking for the next strongest opponent. She wanted a fight. Just then, Remus Lupin zoomed past her, a Potter behind him. Immediately, she set after them, amidst a horde of fellow death eaters. She could feel their spirits growing the second they saw her mask. Moira Lestrange was with them, bringer of death in the flames, one of the cruelest of the Dark Lord’s followers.

“Don’t hold back!”, she yelled. “I’m coming to kill you, blood traitors!”

She hurled a disarming charm at Lupin. Before she knew it, she was caught up in a mania. No matter how much her two opponents tried, they could not escape her. She was faster, cutting off their path, never letting go. It was a hunt of blind bloodlust.

Suddenly, a scream of pain ripped Asteria out of her trance, out of her disattached state. She returned to her senses and immediately lost them again. George was covering his ear and tumbled off his broomstick motionlessly. Without even thinking, Asteria dove down after him. That was until she felt a stunning jinx hit her back. She slid off her broom, turning in mid-air, looking into the face of Remus. So he had understood her. Take me out before I do something I will regret.

a sheepish smile forms along her lips as she studies her boss, a man she had come to hold plenty of respect for, both as a coworker and as a friend. perhaps it was the lack of her own father ever being present or emotionally invested in her life, but moira clings to the paternal role models offered to her, from damien to professor flitwick and now mr weasley. shuffling up to sit up properly in her bed, there’s a momentary grimace as the shift of gravity causes a dull ache to press against the front of her forehead - she hoped the discharge would come quickly so she could rest at home, away from the clinical order of mungos. she preferred an energetic child and sleepless nights to this round the clock observation and pity offered to her - she did something good and brave, she wasn’t pitiful. she was a helper. "you’re too kind, mr weasley,” smile softens as she looks to basil’s gift of crepe paper flowers at the end of her bed, “i suppose i may take a little time to be at home once i am discharged. basil needs to be sure i am all better, he’ll need to see me smiling and playing like normal otherwise that boy will be at my ankles like a knarl.” a small laugh, a small piece of normality after the chaos that ensued prior. “i’m a little sore, no longer need to be sick, thankfully - damien keeps bringing basil to see me, all my energy is being spent on him i’m afraid, so i may not be on top form for you.”

" please, we’re not in the office. call me arthur. i feel old enough without us throwing the word mister around. Invisible (886KB - Incomplete - R) Greyback is trying to build a hybrid army, and he purchased the laboratories so he could take three different demon's souls (demons that Voldemort had in captivity before he died) and splice them. The souls - their magic - can be split a large number of times and retain full brain capacity, therefore when a demon's soul is split and put into the body of a magical creature, if the soul doesn't destroy the body, it becomes almost clonelike. Draco's demon, however, is the only one, because he escaped by possessing Crabbe with his entire soul, rather than a split.

Jersey (39KB - 3 Chapters - NC-17) Hermione Granger can imagine nothing more horrifying than being naked in the Quidditch stands. Thank Merlin Draco Malfoy's there to give her his jersey.

sebastian o’shannon was in the weasley twins year at hogwarts. i’ll drop a link later in server to his full bio doc, but for now the need to knows are: he’s salazar slytherin’s reincarnate. his friends garrett gibbons (gryffindor reincarnate), moira o’hart (ava slytherin reincarnate), evie dupont (helga hufflepuff reincarnate), and thea kincaid know the truth of this, nobody else. dumbledore did but, well, he dead now, so. he is intensely powerful due to this, but he downplays it a lot to fit in and not draw attention. he was a part of dumbledore’s army, until the christmas of that year. it all changed when his mother signed his family up to join the death eaters. once that happened, seb lost it with her. almost killed her, was only stopped by garrett. they literally stopped time and undid the damage/erasing it from her memory. seb then agreed with both garrett and dumbledore that he would use this as a chance to become a spy, to get close to the death eaters and feed back information.

he did things he’s not proud of in that time, but he also fed back a lot of key, important information to the order.

when the battle came to hogwarts, he couldn’t pretend anymore. ever since then, everyone has known the truth that sebastian was merely acting as a spy.

It's Asteria!!! Please click on the image. Tumblr resizes it hortibly and I put a lot of work into it. This image is kinda spoilery for her story, but I wanna infodump, so I'll put it under the cut.

So, we can see here Asteria Malfoy and her alias Moira Lestrange. The picture is supposed to symbolize Asteria’s inner struggle during The Half-Blood Prince.

You might be able to recognize the shirt on the left. It's Fred's from Order of the Phoenix.

After her supposed betrayal in the Department of Mysteries, Fred broke up with her. She hates his guts for it, she hates everyone's guts, but the fact that she still kept his shirt shows that she can't help but love him deep down. She's heartbroken. With that mindset, she had to go join Bellatrix and Greyback in the attack on the Burrow (more on that in the Moira part). She managed to scare the Weasleys out of the house before everything caught on fire, but doesn't try to help. That changes, however, when she sees Greyback trying to attack Ginny. This causes her to snap and attack Greyback. The two get into a fight, in which Greyback destroys Asteria's Death Eater mask with a Sectumsempra-curse, causing the scar in the image. With that, the secret is out. After a following larger battle that Asteria secretly fights on the side of the Weasleys, Asteria faints and wakes up in the Burrow, forcing her to talk to Fred and the others again after so long. She refuses to join the Order again, saying she can't leave Draco alone and threatens to kill Harry if he hurts her brother, then returns to Malfoy Manor.

The bandage over her left arm in the photo covers her Dark Mark that she tried to scratch off during a breakdown over what side she's supposed to be on now. Of course, she failed and only scratched open her skin. The green lighting on the left is supposed to be a nod to the green-hued light in the Slytherin Common Room, as a nod to Asteria’s allegiance to Hogwarts deep down, as well as to her brother and his friends (who are all Slytherins) and her wish to go back to how things were when she was still at school.

Now, Moira Lestrange. From the moment Asteria’s betrayal was revealed, the person at her side wasn't Draco (because he was still at school), wasn't her mother (because she had stayed at Malfoy Manor), it was Bellatrix. Aunt Bella was there, right when Asteria entered the Department of Mysteries. She constantly assured her that she was right and that everything would be fine. She protected her, first from an angry Tonks during the battle between the Death Eaters and the Order and then from being injured in the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort. What’s more: Bellatrix even apologized for the death of Sirius Black. She let Asteria grief over him, even if he was a blood traitor. But what was both the most helpful and the most damaging was giving Asteria her Death Eater mask. It was heavily Confundus-charmed to make Asteria more ruthless, suppress her seer abilities and help control her pyrokinesis. Under the alias of Moira Lestrange, Bella's supposed daughter, Asteria now had an outlet. All her pain and suffering and sadness turned into anger when she wore that mask. Moira became an icon of Voldemort's terror, maybe even more so than Greyback. She was sent to burn down the houses of muggleborns and blood traitors, or sometimes any houses at random, just to spike fear in the public. These gruesome attacks were a way for Asteria to let out all her emotions as Moira and then be better at Occlumency and Divination when she was back at the Manor due to being calmer. Thanks to the mask, she also felt next to no guilt about it. Those were strangers, after all. What was a double life at first became almost like two separate people. The cold and obedient Asteria, having become a lot more calculated and stern than when she was still with the Weasley twins, and the aggressive, fiery Moira Lestrange, with her hands, feet, face and hair covered in ashes, even underneath her cloak and mask, walking barefoot through the burned remains of houses. Of course, that changed when she had to attack the Burrow and Asteria’s memories and morals became stronger than the Confundus Charm. Nonetheless, Asteria knew she was dependant on her mask and so she had Aunt Bella replace it when Greyback destroyed it.

I think the orange light explains itself with the backstory. You may be able to see that the pattern on Moira's dress and mask has a flame design.

Also, a general thing: Asteria has naturally curly hair, just like her Aunt Bella! She used to straighten it just like Draco (whose hair is naturally slightly wavy - see the end of Deathly Hallows 2) and kept it long, but in her heartbreak, she cut it short on impulse and stopped straightening it, only doing so for Death Eater meetings. She actually resembles Bella quite a lot, having gotten a lot of her genes from her mother's side. The curly hair skipped a generation. Draco looks more like his father, but he got the slight waviness of bis hair from the Black family.
