one: stella’s pacing around wen’s creativity room. it’s where most of the brainstorming sessions for lemonade mouth take place. it’s place for creative chaos but right now, it seemed, there was only room for chaos. the room’s a mess; several objects scattered across the room, pillows thrown at the wall where they lay together in a crumpled heap. 

stella finally stops pacing and stands with her back towards mohini, hands clutched at her head.

“what’s wrong?” mo asks and stella whirls around as if someone or something stung her.

“nothing,” she insists, “i’m fine.”

“this doesn’t look like fine,” mo presses gently. she comes in, closes the door and moves across the room. she grabs stella’s hand and gently pulls her towards the couch. “this looks like anger.”

“well you’d be angry too,” stella huffs, “if you were to wake up today and get an unwanted and unneeded blast from the past shoved in your face.”

certainly, mo thought; there were people from india - family members and such that she hadn’t seen in ages - and family friends that may as well have been family - rajiv kumar and his parents - that would throw her for a loop if her parents abruptly announced that they were coming to visit.

thankfully, they were not. (not yet.)

“may i ask what or who this blast from the past is?” mohini queries quietly, “you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”

“she’s back,” stella looks as if she’s in pain and mo’s heart can’t handle it. “she’s back, mo!”

“who?”

“my oldest step-sister, clea.”

immediately, mo pulls stella into a tight hug and kisses her forehead as the latter breaks down, not knowing what else to say.

two: madhu’s birthday was in full swing; the youngest banerjee was running around with georgie gifford and stella’s youngest brothers. tommy delgado was chatting with scott and charlie was currently setting up his drum. stella siddles up to mo with a wide grin on her face.

“d’you wanna play a game?”

“depends on the game.”

“i happen to have spotted one wii console with two remotes over there. it’s got just dance, mo! and i know you can.”

mo holds stella’s gaze for a few seconds before she bursts into laughter and nods. stella whoops and kisses her hand before pulling her away to the game corner.

three: “hey, hey! congratulations!” stella’s youngest brothers - tim and tom - were graduating from the fourth grade to the fifth grade and stella had, somehow, managed to wheedle mo into coming along with her. the dress mo is wearing is by no means designer but it complimented her nicely, nevertheless. and stella, in true stella fashion, was wearing a suit that suited her very well. mo kisses stella on the cheek. “i’m proud of ‘em both,” stella responds with a grin.

four: there is a niggling thought at the back of her head that admonishes her every single time her thoughts drift towards stella and stella’s lips and how soft they looked and she knows she shouldn’t because stella is one of her best friends but she looks so good all the time and mo inhales sharply as stella comes closer and presses a kiss on her forehead, though mo’s visage soon softens as she catches sight of stella’s goofy grin while the lead guitarist pulls bassist to her feet: “let’s go already! it’s almost time for rehearsals!” 

five: after a long hiatus, lemonade mouth was finally back together. mohini was relieved, feeling as if she could breathe again. they’ve been doing this for years now and every single time, it gives mohini a swooping feeling in the pit of her stomach, as if she’s seated in a roller-coaster that’s about to drop down. 

olivia and wen celebrated the end of their third world tour and the start of off-season with a quiet night in while charlie and scott were taking the town by storm. stella and mo, however, decided to go to a gay club; a new one, ‘cause their old one had been closed down. mo was a bit nervous but her nerves disappeared like snow in front of the sun when she stepped inside with stella. brilliant people, good vibes, good drinks. what more could she ask for? 

more drinks, a traiterous voice in the back of her head whispered after she downed her first and only glass of alcohol for the night. mo ignored it but only barely. 

“c’mon,” stella said after a while, “let’s dance!” and they did. mo didn’t know how it happened, she didn’t know who leant forward first; one moment they were dancing together to sweet t’s new track and the next they were kissing, hips pressing against each other and lips slotting together like they were made for this and only this. 

they come back up for air. “whoa, i’m sorry, are you—” stella starts but mo cuts her off with a resolute nod of the head, something breathless that sounded suspiciously like ‘i’m okay with this, i’m fine’ and a kiss, capturing stella’s lower lip between her own.
