I keep dwelling on our poor Amane...

I still am in shock... somehow, this whole time... it's just so impossibly miserable, Tsukasa's reality of simply never understanding the message or point of the shinjuu. This relieved smile, the end finally in reach....

Tsukasa, who can only ever think of 'disappearing' again and again...

the moments before Amane has a complete melt down, listening to this, and then seeing Tsukasa command Nene-chan to take responsibility in destroying every Yorishiro....

the culmination of this entire timeline, the FINAL BEATS of THIS UNIVERSE we've lived in for all of this time, were....

Amane's own MOUTH finally plainly, patiently trying to spell out Tsukasa's actions consequences to him....

those consequences are not, 'the fate of the boundaries' 'the fate of the world' 'the fate of existence'.

It's the threat of never seeing each other ever, ever again! All Amane dictates, if the Yorishiro are destroyed, is Tsukasa disappearing. Interestingly, in this moment, he's not even focused on Nene-chan's fate-- not that it's not deeply important to him, too, but-- Nene-chan already knows her life is precious to him, and that he's fighting to save it. The point he has to make to Tsukasa, is the consequence that occurs between them.

But does Tsukasa understand Amane's many years of fighting to keep them bound...?

I really, really thought that at least on some level, Tsukasa understood what it meant to be Amane's Yorishiro... the treasure at the center of his boundary, his protected & sacred object. He had to understand the shinjuu, the purpose of the act of killing Tsukasa and then himself, was in a desperate bid to keep them together, even in death.

I guess Amane thought that, too! We're right here with him!!

He's done so much, for so many years--! After all this time... it's an incredibly vulnerable moment for Amane to finally acknowledge his own efforts to Tsukasa, directly, to try to ask Tsukasa if he even understands the consequences of his actions.... it truly is the climax of this entire manga, to Hanako's entire existence as a mystery. The previous arc confirmed what a Yorishiro even is, and Tsukasa being Amane's, to prepare us for this devastating blow. The Seventh mystery's existence revolves around protecting his Yorishiro!

in one single expression, a casual word, every single hope in Amane is destroyed.....

it couldn't be a more simple & effortless rejection of everything! Tsukasa's suicidal tendencies are curiously ignorant & naive. Why does it matter if he disappears? He doesn't know why it would matter! IT'S AN INDOMINABLE BELIEF IN HIS UNIMPORTANCE!

Amane, why would it matter?

Tsukasa doesn't see himself disappearing as a consequence. It's a trivial aspect of granting your wish.

Why would you care if he disappeared?

all of this time, he never told Tsukasa anything! It's over 50 years of complete waste! Amane died for nothing! He didn't even die proving he loved Tsukasa more than anything, more than his own future. He didn't convey a single message! The 7th mystery's existence is a joke. Meaningless! You do all of that, and Tsukasa wants to jump into a hole again, just like he did at age 4. NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

what happens next... is so awful, but I do understand Amane's poor broken heart thrashing. Amane is an interesting person... I enjoy his pure black & white thinking. It's kind of moe of him... kind of cutely dramatic and extreme haha. And above all, it kind of preserves this... beautiful idea of Tsukasa, as someone who couldn't disappoint him....?

In a big way, I think Tsukasa is idealized by Amane..... I don't think he's rational about his little brother at all.

To step back for a second... I like that, at one point in time, it appears as if Amane utterly doubled down on 'Tsukasa is real, no matter what.'

Maybe to go on in life, Amane had to believe in that with his whole heart.

The gestures he made in the shinjuu, were in devotion to that belief. Tsukasa's purity of being. 'You ARE my little brother-- no matter what anyone says-- and I'll die to be with you forever.'

Now, Tsukasa is apparently utterly ignorant to his efforts, blind to Amane's aching love for him... Amane's response is essentially, "Tsukasa would never do that to me, Tsukasa WOULD understand"

"for you to hurt me this badly, you CAN'T be my Tsukasa"... that's the mindset Amane suddenly has. He can't handle anything else!!!

Somehow... it's better if some unknown monster tricked him, lied to him, if this person beneath him isn't Tsukasa at all. Never was. If it's a waste, better for it to be a complete and UTTER waste!!!!!!!

it's so terrible of him, but it's merely a childish tantrum. He's only hurt.

It's interesting that it doesn't hurt Tsukasa, at all, but Amane-- he obviously wants to hurt this Tsukasa....? He defensively wishes to say the most awful thing he can think of to... this monster. But if it's a monster, what would it care, Amane? If this isn't your little brother, why would it care about you stating the truth? Do you want to see it cry?

Tsukasa, for his mileage, I just don't think harsh or cruel words can ever hurt him. After all, he doesn't see himself as important, or imagine he has any value, at all. If Amane says 'I hate you', or insults him, or acts annoyed, it makes no difference to his fate. He already exists in a perpetual reality of trying to make himself disappear. It's not as if Amane can rob him of his will to live, or make him feel his existence is pointless. He has no will to live. He's always acting on that assumption. Amane cannot erode his belief in his value or make him cry about how much Amane hates him, because that's the only thing Tsukasa has ever believed was true.

There's a sort of excruciating discrepancy between the Yugi twins...

If Amane could hurt Tsukasa, he would probably be soothed, somehow, that his feelings matter to Tsukasa. But Tsukasa has always easily said, "or would you prefer if I disappear?" with a smile on his face, as if it's inconsequential. I'm entirely sure Amane's ideal world would be one where his frustration makes Tsukasa sob and beg for his love, acceptance, or forgiveness. Tsukasa, however, doesn't do that, because he doesn't feel he deserves Amane's love, apparently! He already accepts a world in which Amane doesn't love him, so Amane saying 'I hate you' won't make him cry, not ever. But to Amane, that makes it look like it doesn't matter if he hates Tsukasa! Which makes it seem like Tsukasa doesn't need his love, or need him...

I think in Amane's mind, Tsukasa is his pristine little brother... he won't accept a reality in which Tsukasa would reject his heart, in which Tsukasa didn't perceive his love.

....despite the words themselves, I think they come from a place of deep love. If Amane didn't love Tsukasa so much, he wouldn't care about his 'message' to him, and he wouldn't care about a 'fake'.

now whimsically I want to say... Amane is such a pained and agonized romantic with such immense issues with jealousy & possessiveness, I wonder how he dealt with the idea of some strange thing being housed in Tsukasa's heart?

I can understand 'complete and utter denial' as a means of coping with something too painful to accept. If Tsukasa is replaced, there's nothing left for you to love. And if something else has taken his heart, you can never have it.

If Amane ultimately stabbed Tsukasa in the heart, maybe he was trying to take something back, or claim his dominance over that territory.

Tsukasa, he's unfortunately quite reckless with that thing....

It's interesting, because Amane these days is such a doomer, you could almost think "ah, I see, he'll believe in the 'worst possible thing' now, and give up on Tsukasa's realness entirely."

But "this Tsukasa is and has always been a fake" is not actually the 'worst possible thing'!

The worst possible thing would be "This Tsukasa is real, and he never understood I love him, and he doesn't want to be with me" !! "Tsukasa never knew I loved him, he died believing I hated him" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amane is in fact still coping.....................................................

There are probably scene changes in this that weren't mentioned in the text I pulled... so I'll go check those later once I get my laptop back. That won't happen for 1-3 weeks based on what the customer service representative said... so I'll be using my old one until then, though things should hopefully be fine until I get it back.

Also... there's a prologue and five episodes for this crossover. I've evidently not been counting properly for a while... 😅

After separating from Yamazaki-san, we found a small village. For the sake of being able to talk to the villagers after daybreak. In order to be able to talk to the villagers after dawn, we decided to spend the night near the village.

I hugged my knees, watching the flickering flames as I worried about what I would speak about what I had heard. Even though I was skeptical of her words, I didn't know if everyone would believe me if I suddenly spoke of it...

Harada: Chizuru, you've been silent for a while now, did something happen?

Toudou: Are you feeling uncomfortable/sick?

Harada: Is that so, Chizuru?

Yukimura: No, it's not like that... there's something I actually need to tell everyone.

Okita:...So, the girl who was with those guys told you something?

Yukimura: Yes. At that time, I asked her about some things I was worried about... but I couldn't believe it myself, and I don't know if anyone would believe what I'm going to say.

Saito: Exactly what did she tell you? Tell us.

I told them that this was a world called "Shinga", and that this place was called the Uesugi Domain. There was also the existences of what they had been fighting a while ago, which were known as "Yakuma"...

It was very difficult for them to believe these things right away, and everyone fell silent.

Okita: If you told me that i was dreaming right now, I think I'd find that more credible.

Toudou: That's right… It's because you're so serious, Chizuru, that I almost have to believe you.

Okita: But no one is doubting the authenticity of Chizuru-chan's words.

I could hear the sound of branches burning, and the sound of everyone breathing. Although I was a bit worried about whether I could close my eyes and fall asleep, because I was with everyone, I fell asleep before I realized it...

Upon hearing a terrifying roar that seemed to come from underground, I literally jumped up. Although I hadn't seen what had made that hair-raising sound, I however recognized it. Realizing that it was the roar of a Yakuma, my head turned towards everyone——

Okita: You finally woke up, I got up first.

After shooting a glance at me, Okita-san ran off. He had gone towards the direction of the Yakuma.

Harada: Chizuru, we can't leave you here by yourself, so you should also get ready to go.

Yukimura: O-Okay.

Toudou: The people in the village might have been attacked, so I'll be going first!

Saito: Sano, Yukimura will be in your care.

Harada: Oh, leave it to me.

Yukimura: Everyone, please be careful!

Naoe Kanetsugu: Ha!? It's natural for us to protect our people!

Uesugi Kagekatsu: Kagekatsu... you still need to express your gratitude.

Okita: I don't remember doing anything to for you all to be thanking me for.

Naoe Kanetsugu:...You have protected the people who live in Kenshin-sama's domain. Thank you very much.

Uesugi Kagekatsu: Thank you...

Hearing their frank words of gratitutde, we truly couldn't hide our shock. Perhaps it was because we were usually looked down upon in Kyoto.

Toudou: I'm a little confused, I thought these gus would be more aggressive… Could it be that they're not bad people?

Harada: If only it were that simple.

Toudou: I know, I don't trust them either.

Okita: Okay, okay, this will get nowhere if this continues. Hajime-kun, the discussions will be left to you.

Saito:…Understood.

Saito-san still maintained his usual attitude, and faced them [before] speaking.

Saito: Are you here to arrest us?

Uesugi Kagekatsu: No... we came to assist you.

Saito: How can you say that?

Naoe Kanetsugu: Your existence might be important to us.

Saito: Although I don't know if [we] would be of importance, we actually wanted to talk to you.

Uesugi Kagekatsu:...Nn. But, is that okay? Didn't you want to freely look around?

Saito: No need. I wanted to talk to you first. Would this be convenient?

Naoe Kanetsugu:...I understand, then come with me.

Not knowing what was meant by "important existences", we ended up falling them while feeling bewildered.

Hijikata:...Just when I wanted to say that we finally found someone, what the hell are those guys doing?

Hijikata, who had been hiding in the shadows of the trees, whispered as he watched the other's figures in the distance.

Hijikata: Yamazaki, do you know anything?

Yamazaki: No. Before I left, everyone concluded that they should keep some distance away from that group and meet up with the Vice-Commander first.

While saying "I would have thought that too", Hijikata gripped his chin with his hand and looked back at their disappearing figures.

Hijikatata: Why couldn't those people just wait there?

Kazama: Haha, they're just a bunch of dogs who can't even wait.

Nagakura: You're not in the position to say that to us!

Kazama: As the saying goes, the weaker the dog, is, the louder it barks.

Hijikata: Your prattling is noisy. I'm thinking about some things s shut up.

When he had opened his eyes, he was already in this forest.

hime: well of course if you ask her mirapa are moe as they are so uh... the concept of moe outside of mirapa... tsundere? in kami nomi zo shiru sekai there's a tsundere called aoyama mio and the deeper her relationship becomes with the main character the more she smiles and its really cute! she's been rewatching streams and she's kind of like ginko-chan~

as for kosuzu-chan, hime thinks she's like hachiware from chiikawa! hachiware-chan often says "ill manage it some way or another!" and kosuzu-chan has that same attitude of trying her best without getting disheartened (hime calls her chicchai moe and then applies that to ruri which she doesn't enjoy)

The girls sat in the classroom, separated into rows depending on their team.

“Unnie, it’s just you and me,” Eve said to Miho, who was sitting behind her. The two girls were the only ones from their team to survive the latest ranking announcement.

“We’re the only ones,” Miho said.

Eve reached back to hold her hand.

A video from Seunggi played. He told the trainees that the number of trainees allowed in each song is five and that they were going to rearrange the groups so that the groups with extra members would vote out members to be added to groups with not enough members.

The trainees went to their different practice rooms. Miho and Eve sat in silence.

“Who do you want to join the group?” Miho asked.

Eve hummed as she thought. “Goeun-chan would be nice. She’s a good vocalist and I think she’d fit the concept.”

Miho nodded. “Right. Sakura-chan would also be nice. Or Chaewon-chan.”

Eve agreed. “There’s many people that could come. We just have to wait and see who they’ll be.”

The girls stood up when there was a knock on the door, gasping when they saw which trainees had been kicked out of their groups.

“1 000% is a great song, you know?” Miho comforted the trainees.

“It’s very fun and refreshing,” Eve added. “We even have a nice colour!”

The teams were in the middle of practice when a trainee told them that Seunggi had arrived. They all ran to the practice room he was in, sitting down with the other trainees. He gave the trainees some advice before announcing that there would be a surprise evaluation. The trainees entered the room with the trainers and producers all standing stiffly. They went to the side as other groups performed.

In their practice room, the 1 000% team went over the song.

“Shall we pick the centre?” Chaeyeon asked. Eve raised her hand along with Moe and Miu.

Eve ended up getting the centre position with both Miho and Chaeyeon agreeing that her facial expressions fit the song the most. When they were practising, Eve and Chaeyeon led the dance practice and helped everyone learn the choreography.

“Next, let’s see 1 000%,” Seunggi said as the girls walked to the centre of the room. “After the ranking announcement, everyone except Miho and Nabi changed. But you all recorded the song in such a short time.”

The girls first sang the song, doing the dance after.

“I don’t want to compare,” Cheetah said, “but they only had one day to practise. They memorised everything well. They’re energetic and well-balanced.

“I think Nabi did a good job,” May J Lee complimented. “You go well with this song.”

“Refreshing concepts is where she shines,” Youngjun added.

“Her movements when she dances are very big,” Seunghee, the choreographer of 1 000%, noted. “She doesn’t cut the moves off early so that she can move to the next one, she uses as much time as possible for each move and makes sure to put emphasis on the important ones.”

After complimenting everyone, Yoonjung looked at Eve. “Yah, you.”

“Yes,” Eve answered, smiling sweetly at her trainer.

“What’s your question?”

Eve stared at Yoonjung in confusion before gasping. “I didn’t think of one. This was a surprise evaluation, so I didn’t have time to think of one,” she whined.

Seunggi looked around in confusion. “What’s going on?”

“Nabi always asks us random questions during classes,” Hoonggi answered, gesturing at the girl who had her eyes squeezed shut as she thought.

Thinking of a question, Eve opened her eyes, clapping her hands. “If you were an animal, would you rather be a hippo or a bear?”

“They both seem horrible, though,” Cheetah complained, thinking about her answer.

“I’d be a hippo,” Soyou answered. “I’d always get to be in the water.”

“I choose bear so I can sleep in winter,” May J Lee said.

Youngjun laughed. “We take these questions so seriously,” he commented.

“It’s because she asks them with so much sincerity,” Cheetah told him. “If we don’t take them seriously, I fear she’ll be sad.”

Mirai Komachi (56.3%) - The only isotope vocal to continue on is COKO, who I think is the least popular of the four released vocals. Fascinating.

Short Drama "C-taked C.C." (It's a pun between C.C's name and the shiitake, well known japanese mushroom) C.C. is the amnesiac C.C. in this one

CC is apologizing for being a bother to her master again, while Lelouch, sounding fed up, orders her not to hide like she does. CC then begs him to not hurt her.

He's interrupted by a call from the emperor on his private phone, who greets Lelouch as "My sweet son" Both sound very serious, but Charuru manages to throw in a line about Lelouch making him a grandfather; Charles claims to have some interesting information for Lelouch because he knows a way to turn C.C. back to her old self. (There is a lot of autoderision with stretching of their names and voices during the conversation)

Change of a scene Zero announces suddenly, out of the blue that his army will now be hunting a mushroom; The Black Knights are wondering what's wrong with Zero, if he ate something bad or hit his head or anything like that; Rolo , hearing that, then geasses everyone and beats them up while they're frozen for daring to say bad things about his nii-san.

Zero explains he needs their help to reset the current "moe-moe-shoujo" CC to her old self (the black knights are super confused and don't get a thing). The emperor told him the only way for C.C. to become normal again is to use a specific mushroom, the "mushroom of C", from the World of C. However he also warned him that attempting to find said mushroom is a very dangerous enterprise. Despite that, Zero already has a plan: he has gathered all of the potential mushrooms with different look (green ones, purple ones, striped ones ... ) and the Black Knight's mission is to cook them and present the dishes to C.C.. Diethard is worried about some of them being poisonous but Zero replies he is wrong and that the emperor promised there would be no poison.

Kallen thinks it's an interesting idea, and she and Diethard begins to think of it like a TV Cooking show in which each of the candidates will present their dishes to C.C.. Diethard, as the TV professional he is, wants to imagine a shorter, more catchy title for the show but Rolo turns up to geass and smack him again.

As the "show" begins, Kallen asks C.C. to introduce herself ; C.C. then presents herself as the maid and "moe-moe-shoujo" C.C. and overall makes a very submissive and weak impression. Kallen, amused by CC's change, abuses of the situation and intimidates C.C. who is not superior to her anymore, leading C.C. to whine and be scared of her.

Toudou, heavily praised by Chiba, is the first to present a dish for her, something they used to eat before. C.C. thinks it looks rather grotesque, but encouraged by her master she digs in. This has the magical effect of turning her into tsundere!CC (when Zero asks her how she feels, she gets all excited and replies this doesn't mean she has any feelings for him)

The second dish is a gratin made by Chiba (who mutters dere-dere things about Toudou nobody understands), which she forcefully shoves into C.C.'s mouth, but it's not the mushroom of C either, instead it just resets her to the previous state, aka moeblob C.C. (and additionally burns her mouth so she'll talk a bit funny for the rest of the track)

Diethard tries next, with a britannian dish inspired from a gourmet show. C.C. is reluctant at first and asks Zero if she must eat that too. Zero takes pity on her and doesn't want to force her but Diethard gets offended so Zero asks C.C. to eat it after all. After tasting it C.C. thinks it tastes delicious and happily munches, but it does not have the effect everyone hoped for but transforms into something with drills as her hands (Another Gurren Lagaan reference ?) Zero yells at Diethard to explain himself, but he's barely showing any concern, so C.C. gets crazy and crushes him.

Lastly we have Kallen and her mushroom risotto, who asks to no mind the purpleness of it. C.C. says she can't eat like this ( Because of what Diethard's meal did to her); Kallen chuckles and simply asks her to open her mouth before she feeds her. C.C.'s eyes begin to itch and when Zero wants to have a look he gets struck by a powerful C.C.'s beam (Now she is an X-men) Kallen wants to use her as a weapon but Zero is in despair, so they decide to feed all the remaining mushrooms to C.C., hoping the right one will be in the loot. One turns C.C. into a giant, "bigger than the Zangetsu" (Alice in Wonderland reference now ?), Diethard loses it for no specific reason, Kallen is impressed and Zero seems deeply troubled by his failure to save C.C., while the latter blames herself for everything, says her goodbyes and attempts to run away.

Scene change Suzaku reports to the emperor: A Chinese spy has observed a huge mysterious figure resembling a young girl emerging from the Black Knights's Headquarters in Hourai Island. Suzaku is convinced it's a mistake but Charles goes all "ZERO, YOU REALLY DID IT!!" and bursts into endless laughter, leaving a completely confused Suzaku behind. The drama ends on C.C. fleeing from Zero and the others, still being a giant.

Notes : A lot of the lines are quotes from the main show I tried to keep as such for like Zero's "No, you're wrong!" and Charles " you really did it !". Gotta love the self-irony here.

Translation by Kitsune Short Drama "Nunna-chan of the oden shop"

Sound drama begins with Suzaku's narration. During the time of Heisei, in the lower parts of Tokyo, a small shop can be found. The name of the shop is Oden Shop Nunna-chan.

Kallen comes into the shop straight from work and orders her usual meal :Oden with thick fried tofu and eggs. Tamaki, who arrived there before Kallen, talks to her.

Tamaki: Hey, Kallen, been promoted now at your work, in that bunny pub? Kallen: That's how it is. So far, there's only greasy old men there, but I definitely won't stop until I take back the number one title from C.C. ! Tamaki: If Uma-chan (referring to Kallen) is working so hard, I'll come and visit you ! Kallen: Shut up ! Don't come. Tamaki: Didn't I tell you that you should be nicer to people? Suzaku: Ta-ma-ki, it'll be hard for her to concentrate on her job if acquaintances come around. Tamaki: Suzaku, didn't you say yourself that you wanted to see Kallen in her bunny outfit?

Tamaki then proceeds to drop some dirty secrets about Suzaku, which Suzaku tries to deny with vigor. Kallen comments that it creeps her out more when Suzaku is acting straight-laced; Suzaku then tries to change to topic by praising Nunnally and her oden, saying that it's the best. Nunnally thanks him by saying that she'll offer prayers for him. "What !? There's that kind of rule !?" Tamaki cries out.

Tamaki tries to copy Suzaku by praising Nunna-chan's oden as being "the best in the world…ah, the space…no, the whole galaxy!"

Nunnally kindly chides Tamaki that he is overdoing it. Suzaku comments on Tamaki being only talk as always. Tamaki insists that he is being really sincere, and that Nunnally is truly a good girl to be working that hard to run a shop. Kallen agrees with Tamaki, while Suzaku asks Nunnally if she can handle everything alright.

Nunnally: Yes, I'm used to it already. Tamaki: Oh geez, how could Lelouch go on a journey and leave such a cute sister as Nunnally?

Nunnally drops her cooking utensil.

Suzaku: Tamaki! It's not good to talk about this! Kallen: You…idiot!! Nunnally, you can charge this guy twice the amount he pays for alcohol! Nunally: Okay. Then, I won't hesitate to. Tamaki: Geh, for real!?

Everyone wonders what Lelouch is doing in some place. His whereabouts are unknown. There's no letter at all. However, Kallen thinks that Lelouch is fine.

Lelouch suddenly speaks, saying that they worried for nothing.

Suzaku: This voice! Lelouch: insert sinister laugh How are you doing, ladies and gentlemen? I, Lelouch Lamperouge, who you have been waiting impatiently for, has just returned!

Suzaku, Kallen, and Tamaki all shout, "Lelouch ll!!" all at the same time and talk angrily at him, calling him names such as, "gambler", "worthless human", "womanizer", and "stupid brother".

Kallen urges Nunnally to say something to Lelouch. Nunnally welcomes back her big brother. Lelouch then tells Nunnally that he only came back to do something.

Lelouch: Ah, it looks like nobody noticed the hidden switch. (sound of knocking) Kallen: There was a hidden door in such a place!? Tamaki: What is it? GEH!! It's an iron safe!?

Lelouch tells everyone that he has about a hundred million inside the iron safe, to which everyone is greatly surprised. Lelouch opens the safe only to find that the money is gone.

Nunnally explains to Lelouch that she has already donated the money to a charitable institution. Nunnally says she has been voicing this since before, things about a kind world, how the heart/spirit of the geass is same as the heart of a mother.

The password is, "Everyone, let's go to the World of C!"

Nunnally: "It's not good to keep money that you haven't earned honestly," father used to say--" Lelouch: That man already died! Suzaku: He liked to preach educational things. A pity that such an interesting fellow died. Tamaki: Heh, what old man Charles said sounds good. You must restrain yourself when it comes to money. Nunnally: Tamaki-san, it's time for you to pay your bill, please. Tamaki: Yes ma'am. Lelouch: Then, I have no more business here! I must reestablish my funds-- Kallen: Stop right there! Where do you plan to go, Lelouch?

Kallen, Suzaku, and Tamaki don't plan to let Lelouch off easy. Suzaku says he has a lot to tell Lelouch, that he will beat into shape his bad attitude of laughing through his nose at hard work and living irresponsibly like a yakuza.

Lelouch: Heh, you think that I will be moved. I'll listen to your talk at the least. Tamaki: What are you doing leaving Nunnally alone!? Lelouch: Didn't I told you already? I will take control of the world! Kallen: That is to say, what you are doing is merely gambling, aren't you?

Lelouch explains that he will control the world by buying out several enterprises to establish a large corporation and controlling the stocks. He assures that his plan is perfect.

Suzaku asks if it is for Nunnally's sake. Lelouch says so and that he wants to create a safe and happy place for Nunnally, since the town they live in is prone to calamities/disasters.

Kallen asks Lelouch if he thinks that is what Nunnally wishes. Lelouch in turn asks if they (Suzaku, Kallen, and Tamaki) want Nunnally to stay forever in that shop. Do they have the power to guarantee her future? Kallen thinks Lelouch is wrong. Kallen tries to make Lelouch understand by telling him a story about her Naoto-niichan.

Kallen: My brother, Naoto, you remember him? Lelouch: Yeah, he was raised in the same time. Kallen: As brother's sister, I can understand Nunnally's feelings very well. Naoto was always only thinkingabout his dreams. He liked mountain climbing. Every time he talked about mountains, his eyes would sparkle. This year, he said that he would conquer Mount Everest. And when this is over, I will teach you mountain climbing, he told me. Then he left the house. I had a bad feeling. My mind could not be at ease… Tamaki: Naotoooo…sob Kallen: To turn into this…I…cries Lelouch: Wait! I've thought about it and your brother's not even dead! Kallen: Oh, I've been exposed. Lelouch: Now that I remember, Naoto's an idiot. He was cheated by a guy named Lloyd who wears glasses. Naoto was tricked into becoming a guinea pig for his flying experiments. He was hospitalized by attempting to jump off from a cliff shouting, "Naoto Kashoushiki! Yay!".

Apparently Kallen's attempt to appeal to Lelouch's sympathy didn't work. Lelouch asks whether Kallen wants to persuade him or make a fool out of him. Which is which?

Now, it's Suzaku's turn to convince Lelouch to stay by talking about his cousin named Kaguya.

Suzaku: Her name's Kaguya. During summer break, she would always come to my house. "I'll become oniisama's wife," she would say. A lot of things happened, but still it was fun. And then, she stopped being agreeable. That girl would come to my house, would read manga and spend most of her time posting on message boards on the internet. She would make a mess in her room. "It is for my husband's sake that I am keeping this wonderful lifestyle, am I not?" she said. She would make me buy ice cream and make me do her homework. When she was angry, she would cry, then kick. She's completely abandoned the etiquette she learned at boarding school.

Lelouch asks what Suzaku is trying to do. Suzaku realizes that he's strayed from his original intentions. His point, he says, is that he thinks of his cousin, who's full of naivety, as a sister he loves so much. Suzaku recalls one time, during New Year's Day, "The battledore's shuttlecock got stuck in the tree branches. Please get it for me," Kaguya requested. Suzaku climbed the tree and Kaguya laughed, saying, "You've been tricked, ohahaha!" Then, the next moment, water balloons came flying at me.

Suzaku begins shouting in a frenzy, blurting out things like, "Please stop it, Kaguya! Help me! Somebody help me! Somebody!" Kallen snaps him out of it.

Lelouch says that he understands Suzaku. Then he tells Tamaki that it's his turn to talk. Tamaki says that he doesn't have parents nor siblings and it's not in his interest to tell heart-moving stories. He then challenges Lelouch to a game of chinchiron, a dice game. If Tamaki wins, Lelouch stays forever.

But Lelouch wins, as expected.

Kallen: As I thought, we weren't able to stop Lelouch! Suzaku: Perhaps, it'll take ten years to treat Lelouch's condition. Tamaki: We're probably lucky that this idiot wasn't born as the prince of a great empire, whose mother was killed.

Lelouch is about to leave but Nunnally stops him.

But I won't hold back. Suzaku: Lelouch! Kallen: But, Nunnally is probably the only one who can stop Lelouch. Lelouch: What will our match be? Nunnally: A long time ago, when our parents were still around, we used to compete over helping with the chores, do you remember? Lelouch: You mean -that-? Nunnally: We haven't done this in a long time, "Dish washing Match!"

And the match starts with Kallen as referee. Lelouch chants "must rub" again and again, while Nunnally chants "become clean" non-stop. .

Tamaki: Amazing! Are they dish washing machines? Suzaku: The plates are becoming sparkling clean with their intense vigor. Kallen: Lelouch is good with household chores, isn't he? Suzaku: Unlike you, Kallen. Kallen: Suzaku, your personality's became worse these days. Suzaku: If I were good, I wouldn't be able to be friend with Lelouch.

Nunnally asks Lelouch why he doesn't like to stay in the shop, if he doesn't like oden. Lelouch says that he only likes Nunnally's cooking and that is why, he's fine with whatever Nunnally likes to do. He doesn't really want to fuss over the shop. Nunnally's hands suddenly stop.

Nunnally's tears start falling as she tells Lelouch that all she wants is to greet her big brother when he comes back and to prepare him food. Lelouch shuts the faucet. "Nunnally…."

Kallen: Siblings are a good thing, aren't they? voice breaks Tamaki: What's this? Tears sniff are coming out from my eyes…sniff Suzaku: Today's a good day! sniff A good day! Nunnally: Oniisama… Lelouch: Nunnally! Nunnally: Chance~ insert "Become clean" x 10 I'm done washing dishes! Everyone: EEEEEHHH!?? Nunnally: Kallen-san, please judge. Kallen: Certainly…Nunnally's win.

And so, Lelouch loses. Nunnally tells him that since the shop is named after her, she will be the manager and Lelouch will be her employee. Lelouch must call her "tenchou". With Lelouch's help, Nunnally says she can achieve her dream of establishing branch stores and even adding a convenience store to the oden shop. Nunnally's plan for world conquest is through her oden shop.

Lelouch: "Nunnallyyyy!!!"

Notes : LOL, Suzaku is a hentai. Interestingly, Naoto is alive in this AU and he likes mountains! Suzaku's monologue about Kaguya was so fun to listen to. His girly Kaguya impression is awe-hilarious. (His story about Kaguya is actually told in the last sound drama of R2, in Sound episode 6) Scheming, devious, semi-Dark, sly Nunnally is great.

[ companion drabble to this from @queenharumiura. we have plenty of dev in here i don't think i've ever referenced, so don't worry about if something is confusing. ]

It's hard to stop listening when two people are talking about him, especially when it's partly behind his back like this. Being seen and monitored is one thing, but hearing directly what others think about him is… more than a little different. It's unnerving in a way being monitored never has been.

Listening in on all of Haru's inner thoughts like this seems wrong. Is this conversation something he should be hearing? Isn't Kyoko-chan Haru's best friend? Isn't girls' talk confidential?

But Kyoko-chan seems to be doing this intentionally -- she knows Byakuran is right there. They even made eye contact as he walked in the store, but she's still asking Haru such invasive questions. It's a lot to digest, and he'd rather be digesting his two extra-large castella cakes, but he doesn't have a choice.

( “I was thinking about it—So what did Hibari-san tell you about the Bermuda incident, anyways? Did he go into details about it?” ) “Hm?” “Let’s see… the conversation came up because he said he found out because of his birds, so it was only a matter of time before the others find out and come to talk to me about it. I asked how he thought Tsuna-san would take it, and he answered by saying that he trusts Byakuran-san enough if he personally requested his assistance for the Bermuda situation.”

So it's Hibari-kun's monitoring that Haru-chan heard… all this time, he's assumed CEDEF was the only group. Has the Vongola Tenth been watching so intently as well? He already wishes he wasn't here, but he has to stay now that he heard it at all.

“He said that people could’ve died if they were any unluckier. He singled Byakuran-san out and said he was gravely injured, requiring emergency illusionary organs to keep him alive.” - “Hibari-san was at the scene with a few others, but everyone involved knew about what happened, so it wasn’t like the rest of them were kept in the dark about his cooperation.”

There are a lot of things he wished had went differently during that incident, but it's impossible to change that now. He survived it, though, and that's what's important to everyone else.

( “So, you don’t think or find him at all dangerous? Don’t you deep down feel afraid of him?” ) “I exercise a healthy amount of fear. Regardless of how harmless someone my present themselves, they’re still dangerous. You must be mindful of the possibility. Look at Yamamoto, put a ball in his hands… and… you know.”

It's interesting that Haru-chan brought up Yamamoto-kun to explain why she wasn't afraid with Byakuran. He doesn't think there's any possible way to compare them, but that doesn't sound like the point.

( “So, you’re not afraid of him, but you don’t forget the fact that you should be mindful around him in different situations.” ) “Exactly. I don’t have a reason to fear the Byakuran-san of this timeline anyways. He hasn’t done anything that would warrant fear on my end. He’s been nothing but nice or helpful to me. Like I said, I don’t think it makes sense to judge him of today for something that happened in the future.”

Nothing but nice or helpful… The thought makes him smile. He's appreciated for what he does now and is not feared for what he did then. It doesn't stop him from worrying she could still find a reason to be afraid. Or, in the worst case scenario, an excuse to do so.

“Ah- he does look a bit intimidating sometimes. At first, I honestly thought he was trying to scare me away, you know?” “Though, I think it’s like Gokudera and how he always looks mad.” “Maybe he just always looks intimidating. He’s not intimidating when you actually talk to him, so it’s like… a weird dissonance kind of thing. Like, gap moe, except this isn’t moe?” “Mn- maybe it would be moe to some people.”

This comparison makes a lot more sense than with Yamamoto-kun, but… Gokudera-kun doesn't inherently have the intimidating effect. There's a huge difference between purposeful and unintentional. 'Gap moe' to some people, though… he wonders if he can ask about this later.

( “So earlier, you were very deep in thought. A strawberry castella for your thought?” ) “Well, I guess it came as a shock to me how quickly I came to feel comfortable around him, and how I trust him.” “I thought it was kind of funny how I may trust him more than some of our friends in some areas. If I ever did a trust fall, I can think of at least two people who may have just let me fall- not out of ill-will, but either because they didn’t think I’d go through with it or they got distracted by a bug.”

Maybe Byakuran isn't surprised that she has other friends who wouldn't catch her in a trust fall, but why does she seem to assume i>he would? It's true, but having it said aloud like that… isn't it still a bad idea? Even after protecting her from serious danger that one time, he's much more dangerous than that situation.

( “Was that all of it?” ) “I just—I never thought about it much until now, but I said I trust him right? I don’t know if that’s mutual. Maybe he doesn’t trust me. Could just be humoring me or being nice to be polite.”

It's not in his nature to be polite to that extent, it's more about maturity. Haru-chan might see it if they ever interact with anyone else when they're around each other, even if that doesn't seem likely to happen.

( “So, you’re worried that he just tolerates you or something? Mmm… I feel like that isn’t the case. You know, the others don’t tolerate you either. They do like you being around, even if what you do confuses them sometimes. Tsuna-kun included.” ) “Thanks.” ( “Of course. Anyways, I don’t think a person who was just tolerating you would go out of their way to create more opportunities to meet you or take time out of their day to talk and console you.” )

Byakuran has no idea where he'd start if he were to write down all the reasons why he likes Haru-chan being around. He just knows he'd worry about giving her something spanning more than one page, but it'd be longer than that.

“True… though, I do hope there is some trust there. He’s already being monitored, and if he knows that, I wonder if he was wary about me approaching him. Like, was I tasked to approach him?”

Without knowing the Vongola Famiglia has been eyeing him, the thought of her being a spy of sorts… it never occurred to him. Even if it had, he's not sure he'd have cared. He has been grateful for the company regardless. The only major thing he has to hide is the dark thoughts, and those aren't major enough to warrant espionage.

“You know, that is annoying to me. He’s still being monitored? For what? I doubt it’s on Tsuna-san’s orders, but if it was, I’ll need to have a stern word with him.”

Byakuran is no stranger to being monitored - the feeling of being watched never leaves because he is. He always is. It's nothing new, but when she says it like this… it does feel wrong. It's no wonder he lives alone now. No one can watch him, no one can listen in on him. The nothingness in his apartment at least reminds him he's totally alone, even if he's not sure he likes that.

“You don’t team up with someone and use them to in return not trust them. Don’t work with people you can’t trust and don’t trust people you can’t work with. How is it any different from using someone as a disposable pawn, they almost die and then you still don’t trust them?”

Hm, he didn't think of it like that. He was still too self-confident to understand he had a lot more at stake now than he did in the first future. Maybe it's still a self-absorbed idea that he gladly accepted an invitation rather than was just being used for a goal. He didn't even meet that goal, did he? Tsunayoshi-kun was ultimately enough. Byakuran wasn't conscious or even there for any of that.

Maybe she's right. The more he thinks about it, picking at his castella cake, the more it really does feel like he was thrown away as soon as he failed to do something he was asked to do. Does being overconfident really change any of that?

“It’s frustrating. It’s no surprise that he gives off a lonely vibe. I don’t think they see just how broken and hurt he is. They only see what they want to see, like they want for him to still be the person they fought against.” A sarcastic snort, “Isn’t it funny though? It’s like they would much rather him be the same instead of being different and turning out for the better. Maybe it’s just the optimist in me.”

He lowers the fork with the bite he's about to take.

That everyone else can't get rid of the sight of who he was is obvious, but… is this how Haru-chan really sees him now? As he is in this life… ? Not evil, just broken?

Last time he lived, he'd stopped caring about hurting others and just let it happen. The thought to stop doing so never occurred to him until the very end. He can't hurt anyone else anymore, and he doesn't know how to stop hurting himself. Is that really much different?

“Well, if he doesn’t trust me, then I’ll just have to work to gain that trust, that’s all.” “I just… want to help, and I hope he’ll come to understand that and let me try to help him. Things are easier if you have someone who is willing to support you through it.”

… It always surprises him how much a single person's kindness can change his life, and it sounds like she's dedicated to doing so. She really wants him to trust her… she wants to help and support him in every way. And she's right. Everything really does seem easier when someone is there, he's just never truly experienced the all-encompassing type it sounds like she's aiming for.

Now that he thinks about it, there are ways he knows she can easily do just that, but he's never thought to ask for them. Maybe he should try sometime… ?

( “If he doesn’t know now, I’m he’ll come to understand in time.” “By the way, what drew you to him anyways? Like, why did you approach him at the ice cream place to begin with?” ) “He was alone and sweets taste better with company. I don’t think I really had a deep reason behind me approaching him other than I was curious as to why he was alone? I didn’t really know him, but I do know of him- so it didn’t feel right to walk on by without saying hello at least.”

Just curious, huh? They're similar in that respect, then… Byakuran is usually the same way.

And he'd barely paid attention to any other Haru-chan he'd met, always too focused on studying the rest who he needed to take down in his original timeline. Of course he'd seen other versions of her, but not enough to know her. It seems like they had the same reason to interact. Had known of each other, but hadn't gotten to know each other.

As hesitant as he is to consider it… maybe they have more in common than he thought?

( “Hibari-san warned you that soon the others will find out you’ve been hanging out with him, how do you think it’ll go? Are you worried?” ) “Honestly? I’m a bit nervous about it, but overall, I’m not worried. Tsuna-san trusted him, Lambo-chan was a bit too young to really understand what was going on, Hibari-san didn’t have anything to say about me befriending him, and Yamamoto seems to be okay with him?” “Gokudera and Onii-san probably would have things to say, they’d be mad, but it would be out of worry. I think they’ll come to terms with it over time. It’ll be harder for them to keep that grouchy energy if Tsuna-san is okay with it. He’d be worried, probably, but I don’t think he’d be against it.”

Naturally Haru-chan being around him would upset some in the famiglia that took him down. She would've been better off staying away, but… Byakuran knows he doesn't want that. He's just as confident that she doesn't want that. She does exactly what she wants, and he won't try to stop her.

… But why, though?

Why is she so intent on helping him? So dedicated to a goal of getting someone like him to open up to her? Deep down, is this just about Haru-chan fixing someone she sees as broken and hurt… ?

It doesn't feel like it, though. He can't place why he doubts it, but he does. Is there some other reason she's here that he's not aware of?

But… his mind has already been spun enough and their topic has changed, so he'll eat cake and think about something else. He's exhausted his mind from processing everything he just heard. And if Haru-chan sees him, he knows he can say he just arrived and didn't want to interrupt.

He'll have to think about everything when he has a clearer head, so maybe right now he'll stay where he is, still picking at cake. Now if only his appetite would return...

Lucifer drinks the pictures in — his face relaxing into a tender expression. When he tries remembering the last time he had felt laughter fill his chest at the sight of a baby picture, his mind goes back to his days in the Celestial Realm when he had more patience. Words spill from his lips before he can stop himself.

“[Name], you looked like an absolute angel…”

A faint blush graces his cheeks as he realises that in his mind, he just placed you in the same place as all the bright cherubims he had seen as an angel. You put his heart at ease so he takes one of the pictures for his own. Try as you may but that is his property now. He loves to look at it when he’s feeling extremely stressed. 

Grinning to himself, he muses, “Time is short for a human… yet their company is so precious.”

LEVIATHAN

Leviathan laughs. “LOLOL such normie baby clothes!”

One would think that he was born wearing Ruri-chan cosplay. The other brothers call him out on his behaviour and refuse to show him your pictures so he pouts and throws a tantrum about how the world is unfair to otakus like him!

When he gets his hands on your baby photographs (after quite the struggle, in his words), he’s thrilled and looks at it with awe. With every passing second, his cheeks get more coloured before he closes his eyes and covers his face with the back of his hand. 

How were you so cute as a baby?! He thought they were meant to be awkward and silly. Even though you have some embarrassing pictures, he… he wants to hold the baby you! He has an amazing assortment of toys that will keep you entertained. Just stay away from his precious figurines! 

“Leviathan took 9000 damage. This is soooo moe w’aaaah. How is a simple otaku such as myself supposed to react?!”

SATAN

Satan looks at your pictures with utmost concentration. Every time his brothers talk about what a cute munchkin he was (*looks at Asmo*) or what a ball of mischief he was (*looks at the entire population of the Devildom*), he feels irritated. His childhood reminds him of the circumstances of his birth and how he wasn’t there with his brothers when it mattered. Owing to the uneasiness, he’s not particularly fond of children — unless it’s a whiskered baby. His arms are always open for kittens.

Seeing you in the pictures, however, makes his heart flutter in a way he has never felt before. He wants to protect and cherish you, fill your life with books and cat plushies.  The urge is so strong that he runs out of the house — his head still full of baby you — as he buys every item that he would like to pass on to a beloved child. The mountain of stuffed toys that you have no use for makes you want to scream as you fix a questioning glance at him. To be honest, there are some fairy tale books you have never seen before so it isn’t a complete waste.

BELPHEGOR

Belphegor takes a quick glance at the picture and returns to his nap. With a cheek pressed against his pillow, he mumbles, “Hmmm, you were a cute baby.”

The lack of reaction makes you want to move on but he won’t let you. Grabbing your arm, he pulls you to the bed and whispers in your ear.

“[Name], you looked really soft in the picture. Now I want to cuddle you. It’s your fault for making me feel this way so you’ll take responsibility, won’t you? Don’t move a lot and let me enjoy it.”

He has burned the image in his mind and can’t help dreaming about the baby you giggling up at him. It’s soft and makes him feel peaceful.

Don’t get him wrong. He’s not a fan of children — babies in particular, because they are loud and their cries disrupt sleep. However, seeing the eyes that he loves look back at him from the picture ironically makes him want to protect you.

BARBATOS

Barbatos thinks that you were adorable back then. Not that a lot has changed but some detail about your first years warms his heart like a cup of fine tea.

He knows that baby pictures are a source of embarrassment for most because he often found Diavolo flustered when the matter of his innocent days was brought up. He’s amply experienced with kids to know how to tease you about it and oh boy, this demon uses his knowledge to good use.

“Oh, [Name], I have a gift for you… I happened to see your photo album.” That’s his way of informing you that he’s well versed in your past photos, “I noticed that you wore this colour quite frequently during childhood. However, remember not to spill food all over it anymore. Okay?”

He’ll never let you outlive it.

MEPHISTOPHELES

Mephistopheles squeals. Babies are amazing — be it crawling in front of you or in pictures. He snatches the photos away from whoever is holding those as a huge grin appears on his lips.

He’s usually gruff with you while also being gentle (read as tsundere) but now, he’s saying how fascinating it is to look at your life as a baby. He comments on all your pictures and thinks that your activities back then were adorable.

“Look at them playing… Look at them sitting… It’s a balm for the heart.”

He gets so excited that he tries to find similarities between the baby you and the present you just so that he has an excuse to hold onto the pictures for longer without appearing overly affectionate.

An Alternate Universe where Bri-Chan is Dr. Frankenstein and each year creates a new monster. Hidan is the original Frankenstein’s monster (notice how it was a bit of a fail). She helps out a bit with Bri-Chan’s experiments. Then Konan who is the badass version of Igor with extremely sensitive eyesight and is like Frankenstein’s bodyguard. & her newest creation is Zetsu who we don’t really know what to expect but she’s very green and glowy.
