Day 3️⃣0️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Album From High School . . My high school era had some of the most incredible music and I still listen to a lot of it today. One album that stuck out to me when I took a trip down memory lane was Madonna’s ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’ because it was so new and exciting to me then. It was the first album that I truly enjoyed end to end — no skipping — just one continuous journey through some of the best dance music I’d ever heard. I also loved all of the music videos that came out for the album and was completely hooked on that whole Madonna era. It’s still one of my all-time favorite albums and has stood the test of time for me! Day 2️⃣9️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Album From Middle School . . It was pretty hard to choose just one album from middle school for this prompt because there was so much good music back then! It was a nice trip down memory lane and I ended up choosing @officialtlc’s album 3D because of how special it was to me then and still to this day. I was completely obsessed with TLC and “Girl Talk��� was one of my favorite songs at the time. When I learned that there was a vinyl release of the album I knew I had to have it and looked forever for it online. I noticed most copies were located in Japan, so when I went to Tokyo I looked in every record store I could for it. Luckily I actually found it while crate digging at a small shop and was overjoyed! Day 1️⃣7️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: A “Grower” Album . . I know you're probably thinking how on Earth could this possibly be a grower album!?!? Well for me it truly was. I was completely and utterly obsessed with @goldfrappmusic's album Supernature. I loved the hard hitting pop and synth and the beats!!! Then Seventh Tree came out and I was confused. It was slow and sounded so different to me. I just somehow couldn't get into it. One day I put it on repeat during a flight and I was transported to a beautiful melodic world of sound. I heard it in my dreams once I passed out and from the point I woke up it's been one of my favorite albums and one I consider a truly incredible one to spin. Day 1️⃣3️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Live Album . . There is truly no vocalist in the world like Ella Fitzgerald. She's been a favorite of mine since middle school when I first learned about big band music and jazz and that love has only ever grown with time. I was super happy to learn she'd be featured as a 2018 record store day release with "Ella At Zardi’s", a live recording made in 1956. I was lucky enough to get a copy with the help from my wonderful boyfriend @z._.ben._.y, who waited in line and took me to many different stores to find all of the fun new releases 🙌 I'm personally not a huge live album person but once I began to spin this record I was so enchanted by the amazing music and cute banter Ella had with the audience. Day 1️⃣2️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Happy Memory . . Unlike many of the prompts before, this was such an easy one for me because I just have so much happiness associated with @ellavos's album #WordsINeverSaid. I took my boyfriend to see her at @thetroubadour because we love her music so much and listen to her on our shared playlists. At the show I saw there was merch (including vinyl!) and VIP meet and greet passes. I was hesitant but my boyfriend said if I bought a record he would get us passes to meet her after the show so I could get it signed. I was so excited and sprung for the beautiful blue and pink split vinyl, which not only was the last one available, but also only 1 of 50 made! After the show we both met Ella Vos and she was so nice and signed the record and some posters for us as well. It's definitely one of my favorite concert memories ever and I'm so grateful to @z._.ben._.y for making it happen! Day 5️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Album By A Woman . . This was probably one of the hardest decisions for me to try to make so far because soooo many of my records are from women! I ended up choosing @AllieX’s album #CollXtionII after much debate because it's such a beautiful pressing on mint green vinyl and one of my favorite albums from last year. I had the standard LP cover first but when the gatefold version came back in stock I couldn’t resist and bought it as well it’s just so pretty! I got this record signed at @AustinCityLimits after my friend @yabbabby waited in line with me forever! I saw this signed #TargetExclusive version of @Fergie’s new album #DoubleDutchess posted on Reddit and instantly clicked on it only to find out it had sold out 🙀 It was signed, limited and exclusive so obviously I had to have it even though I had really no clue if it would be any good lol. I kept checking back and all of a sudden it was in stock again and I instantly bought it without hesitation before it quickly sold out again. Day 2️⃣8️⃣ of @ModernWax’s #AugustVinylChallenge: Band / Artist You’ve Met . . I’ve been absolutely in love with @RinaSawayama since I first heard her so I was super excited to go see her at @bardothollywood for #itsaschoolnight in Los Angeles and she did not disappoint! After the show I waited hoping she would come out to say hi. I spotted her backup dancers and asked them if she would come out because I had a record of hers with me that I was hoping she would sign. The dancers went back to tell Rina and she actually came out!!! I could barely speak I was so starstruck she was so incredibly nice. She not only signed my record but also gave me a big hug after helping me calm down lol.
